Don't forget to keep your receipts and such for your fuel, expenses, and maintenance (especially if you're not going to take the standard $0.55/business mile deduction). You can also write off your monthly phone bill based on the % of time you use it for the business. At the end of the year when you get your sheet from uber/lyft it will tell you their platform fees and expenses, which you an deduct from your taxes on top of the itemized or standard 55 cent/mile deductions. There are a lot of ways you can save money. Also you can deduct your interest charges for car loan, I believe. You can write off the registration/license plate fees too.

In TX you have to have a class B commercial license for the insurance to even approve a personal vehicle/fleet for commercial services. Get bonded too! Clients aren’t always nice & could potentially try to sue for any little thing. Make sure your vehicle works at its best performance. Treat people kind, don’t rush them, but don’t hold them up.

Uber XL and Black SUV are always going to get less trips because there isn’t as high of a demand for SUVs (they are more expensive and most people only travel in groups of 3 or 4). So don’t think that it’s weird that you aren’t getting many Black SUV trips. Everything with Uber is supply and demand.

First rent it to make sure its something you like and money makes sense for you. Suv cost over $50k and monthly payment over $1000. You cannot just stop working but when you rent and don't want to work anymore you can just give it back.

The loss uber have in those rides is because the rider has coupons or bonuses or they have a any type of special business account that gives discounts on rides… the 50% you say uber take in uber x… remember the rider pay taxes and fees… uber only pay you wit the ride base charged amount for example… is the fare is $100 you get $75 but the passenger pay like $120 (nyc fee… i dont know in your city)

@@KhushnudNumonov it’s a Lexus SE, and it’s not my fleet, a guy hired me into his. He says if I grind (12 hours a day online) then I can make like $4k a week. I live in Palmdale, about an hour north of LA, but I’ll be driving down to work in LA. And yes I have a LAX permit

I drive back only when I'm done for a day. When I'm far and its not busy I try to find busier area near my and wait there for an hour. If no rides at all then I try to change my location

I drive for UberX and Planning to start driving for Uber Black on 2020 Tesla Model S.
I inquired about the commercial auto insurance for 1.5 million and it is costing me 1200/Monthly. On top of that my cars installment is 1200 Monthly.
I am in Houston Texas and just wanted to know if a cost of 2500 manageable driving for Uber Black 10 hrs everyday for 6 days in a week.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.

It doesn’t make sense for me to drive 75+ k car and get 10/20/30 $ with waiting and struggling for hours that would not be guaranteed for the job, above that not sure when your account is suspended for no reason compliant
My question is I wonder if its worth it to use the new car for Uber/Lyft? The car has 32k miles and I only drive mornings. usually 6am till lunch . I always make 120 bucks, sometimes before 10am.
I'm not totally sure as to why Uber X takes a higher percentage out of the fare than Uber Black, but I suspect it may have to do with the insurance. When you drive for Uber X, Uber provides the insurance while you are traveling to pick up your passenger, and during the actual passenger trip. With Uber black you have to have your own commercial insurance that Uber does not pay for, and so they are taking less out of the fare.

It’s because of a lot more than just insurance. Even though you are an independent contractor with Uber X and Uber Black, Uber X is the primary type of Uber account for most of the drivers on the platform. Therefore, there are all kinds of expenses that Uber is required to pay due to rideshare laws that don’t necessarily apply to the commercial side of things. Uber doesn’t just take Uber X drivers money because they are greedy. There are just so many things in the background that drivers don’t know about that have to be taken care of. The actual profit that Uber makes from Uber X drivers is much less than what you would think. There used to be more detailed breakdowns that you could see with the fare, but it looks like they’ve begun taking those details away.

600 a week is crazy to me to rent a vehicle. Can’t you purchase an suv cheaper than that and get insurance cheaper than that? I live in anchorage, Alaska where Uber black market is not here, so not worth it. I’d lose money cuz I’d be taking more Uber x rides just to get rides. Seems like Uber x and xl is most common here. I haven’t even seen Uber black availability but a handful of times when trying to get a ride myself. With gas prices, how much did you spend in gas for that first day? Uber x here in Alaska on average takes 41-45%. The only time they take less is when I do premium trips. I like getting as many of those cuz I can get 65-70% on those on occasion.

After gas in 12 hour day in a suv that size I’m guessing around 100 to 140 dollars ? I use around 13 gallons a day in a 2015 Honda CR-V and can everage 300 to 400 in 12 hours . Minus $50 to $60 on gas.

Full tank for this SUV is around $90-110. And full tank goes for 2-3 days the way i work. I don't pay for insurance. I just pay him $600 a week ad that's it. For me it's definatly worth it. My 10 hour shift only 50-60% is driving. I don't get tired as much as I used to get driving regular uber. to make $200-$250 driving regular uber was a lot harder and I had to drive around 200 mile to earn that. it's a lot on gas and on the milage of the car. On uber black I barely drive 500-800 miles a week. Also on the best day I can make at least $600 but with regular uber I never did over $400. for me it's worth it. This might not be the same with others.

That is the magic of uber or Lyft black… you can make a lots o money driving a little… when he was looking in they fares he make $45 driving only 7 miles… in uber x or regular Lyft you only make like $7 bucks… if you really want to make money go to you close airport on a busy hour(Uber tell you)and you will get a 100+ miles range trip… like $400 only spend like 5 gallons of gas (yes v8 mpg is not joke jeje but is worthy

What were the fuel costs? Factor that in to give a more correct idea on homing you made. Also you haven’t even paid for the weekly vehicle rent yet. So you actually lost money this day.
I don't think deducting all expenses on day 1 is correct. My calculation is on a weekly basis. I spent $600/week on a rent and ~$300 on fuel.

Wow you made some good money. But the thing is your absolutely gonna have to pay taxes at the end of the year. I drove Uber and lyft full time for 3yrs and never paid taxes because of the mileage. But the one year I decided to do Uber eats I had to pay close to 1500 in taxes because you don’t rake up the mileage on Uber eats to offset the money made. Keep gas receipts, lunch receipts, oil change (maintenance records) you can pretty much write off anything

You can save yourself a lot of money by doing your own oil/fluid changes, brakes, etc. Simple maintenance like that is not hard to do and will save you $$$.

The thing a lot of people don't realize, is that the platform fees and expenses that they take from you can be deducted from your taxes. Always make sure you remember this people.

Как я понял после того как ты апплайнулся на Uber Black ты мог работать на своем обычном аккаунте Uber X? И в итоге получается сейчас у тебя 2 аккаунта Uber X and Uber Black? То есть в теории, если ты очень захочешь - теоретитчески ты можешь работать включить оба своих аккаунтов скажем так с разных телефонов что если заказов нет на Uber Black берешь катаешь Uber X - или в итоге тебе сделали один общий аккаунт?
И еще интересно что если вдруг у тебя упадет рейтинг ниже 4.85 - тебе приостановят Uber Black пока не восстановишь?

@@artemkroshkin196 спасибо за тёплые слова)) да у меня 2 аккаунта. На первом моя старая машина. Там в любой момент могу работать. Я просто туда не добавлял этот субурбан. На втором делаю только блэк но могу и на этом аккаунте простой убер делать. На блек аккаунте можно выбрать из uber x, uber xl, comfort, black, black suv, black hourly. Я выбираю только последние 3. Получается эти 2 аккаунт между собой не связаны. Рейтинг и поездки на блек не отражаются на обычном и наоборот. Насколько я знаю, когда рейтинг падает то не можешь работать на блек. Нужно пару заказов на обычном сделать чтобы поднять рейтинг до 4.85 потом включится блек

@@KhushnudNumonov You have to be careful with private clients. I wouldn't be advertising it for other people to see, because in most places it's illegal to hire your services out without a chauffeur licence and I think Lyft/Uber don't like when you do that. You don't want to get deactivated.
