its just perfect. I own a DCT model, after 1 year and almost 22000km I'm completely satisfied with it and don't see myself thinking of changing sometime soon. Not a racing bike but does all I need brilliantly, so well balanced, in the daily commute as for the long rides.
I passed my full A license test last year I went for used 2015/2016 Honda NC750X with manual gearbox instead of buying CB500X. I don't regret my decision and I even feel grateful I have 750 cc engine after I ridden once 500. I think it is excellent "starter bike". I started with having over 2 years of experience of daily riding 125 and I didn't feel overwhelmed. I use my bike daily in absolutely every weather and it never let me down ☺ Here are my top things I love about this bike: 1. Fantastic engine with fantastic low and mid range torque 2. Front storage - all my waterproofs , first aid and disc lock live in there. A small shoppings from LIDL will fit in there as well.... 3. Fuel economy - I get avg 65-70 mpg living in mountainous area where other bikes drink litres of fuel 4. Low center of gravity and handling - I already forgot this bike is over 220 kg wet... 5. Riding Comfort and seat high- I leave for short ride and I end up with empty petrol tank with nearly 200 miles covered. I feel very comfortable as 5' 11" guy sitting on this bike. 6. Price - I bought mine NC for 3500 grand with 26 k miles on it. It's very very affordable price for your 27 years old rider like me. I have no PCP or credit on the bike which is important nowadays 7. Cheap to insure - it's low insurance (g. 11) group (for 750 cc) so my first "big bike insurance" doesn't cost me fortune I have only one thing that I could say against NC 750 and it is the power output for A2 license holders (requires restriction) . It has got 40-43 kw net power which makes it "just" no compatible bike for A2 , but I didn't care as I'm full A license holder. In this case , it's probably better better to get CB500 and then upgrade to NC.
Yes this is the beginner bike with excellence, although it can be one bike forever too. It is so versatile that once you get use to it it will be hard to switch to another bike unless keep it and add another different bike. If you want the new version 2021 then get it with DCT, the manual gear box is frustrating small geared 1 to 3 to be used on Manual but still fine. DCT is so much easy when you are stuck in the slow traffic with a lot of stop and go, I love it. The front storage is addictive. The front brake and the rear brake are linked, so when you push the foot brake, the bike will apply the brake to the front and the back. it is great. Front brake can be operated alone with hand. There is plenty of power low end. I use to take off on third gear without noticing in the traffic light. The throttle is smooth no jerk, like power On Off, you know what i mean? When you are on the first or second gear and when you put a bit of throttle the NC will move smoothly even without DCT . Great engine from Honda. You want to make half turn is an easy task with the NC with the huge turn angle, almost like a bicycle. you want to move at 4kmh no problem it remain in balance. Oups you dropped the bike, no worries you will be able to lift it by yourself. (if empty, no bags...) Maintenance, apparently is also easy, although i let it for the professionals. 2Up no problem. Consumption is so good, when I rode it first time I thought the fuel gauge was broken. Crazy! Parking and thief's. Given that the bike is not that sexy attractive bike, no worries, just need good precaution. You want to race with the cars? no one can beat you at 0-50 kmh or 0-100 kmh unless an serious expensive sport car. You want to show off for Girls :) , Girls do not care about bikes in 2021 🤣. You want a race bike, then thank-you for reading till this point .🤗
By far one of the BEST reviews ever! Nobody ever talks about valve adjustment and the cost of having them done. You really sold me on this over the CB500X. Thanks for doing this great job!
Great video, thank you for sharing. I haven't ridden a motorbike for nearly fifty years, so a new rider in reality. I bought my black 2020 nc750x dct in June 2023 (two months ago) to commute to work, roughly 35 miles a day on beautiful coastal roads in North Wales. I did find it heavy to move at first and I struggled with the main stand, but have got used to it now. We have had heavy storms and high winds this summer and I have been nervous going out some days, but the bike always handles like a dream. The dct is very responsive and seems intelligent, knowing what gear I prefer to be in. With it's high riding position I feel confident with other road users. It's so economical to run and looks really cool. I could go on and on in excruciating detail but will spare you. Just to say I am so so happy with my bike. I agree with other comments. For me, the perfect bike!
It's definitely the swiss army knife of bikes.. Does everything. A city commuter, or a long distance tourer with the top box and panniers, or even an adventure bike. Not a lot of bikes can claim this amount of variety. Everyone raves about the BMW GS or Triumph Tigers, but this little Honda in my opinion blows them away for the chameleon that it is.
My first bike was and still is a NC750S with DCT. Easiest bike ever. I did a couple of tours through the French alps and it was easy-peasy to ride. All of your reasons are legitimately good reasons. The only downside is the weight but as you said, it's center of gravity is so low, you barely feel it. The only time I felt it was when I dropped it after some jackass reversed his car into me by accident. ;-) there was no way I could hold her up past a certain point... i've done 60.000 km so far. Definitely not going to sell her any time soon
Having covered around 850 miles in under a week on a tour of the Scottish Highlands (thanks to Haggis Tours for the loan bike), I can vouch for how much fun the NC700 is. As a result, I am going for a test ride on the 21 DCT model. As a rider for over 40 years, I now need something lighter but still lively enough to enjoy.
Hi Nick! Great video and commentary. I’m looking at the Honda NC750X as my next bike. Currently own a Honda CTX700DCT as my first bike (discontinued). What I like about Honda is as you have described, smooth engine, weight distribution, cost, optional DCT. I would also add riding modes. I’m upgrading because of the newest technology on the NC. Better suspension, additional ride modes, upgraded engine and lower frame. This bike will take me from smooth highways to the occasional goat trail (potholes, dirt, some gravel). My criticism is the screen is not TFF. We live in a world of Bluetooth connectivity so Honda missed this critical feature - think Goldwing.
Got to agree and commend the review to the house :) It a very good all round bike and It annoys the hell out of me when it pigeoned holed as a commutator bike and nothing else. The reason I bought the bike was the relaxed riding it offers and the fact the engine does not need to be revived to death and from what reviews there has been, the latest iteration is even better.
I have a 2017 DCT and I am very happy with it. If I could describe the bike in just one phrase I would say that, it is that bike that is not ideal for anything but serves for almost everything.
Great video nick. As you may now. I got my nc750x dct. In November. Traded in Suzuki v Strom di 250. Great bike too. I got my Honda from doble motorcycle Surry. One cracking deal from them. I love my dct manager to get same miles on her but we all went back in to lockdown two. Got in in November last year. Hope to be out on her soon. I'm busy getting browny points of her in doors. Painting all the inside of our house. Just doors to do well 6of them. Happy days. Take care and ride safe .
Again very inspiring, making me think that this really is the bike for me, I plan to get the DCT version, I have a weak left wrist from a nasty accident some 41 years ago, drunk driver met my RD250LC…..and me…got rather broken up…..hey ho…..and now I want to live life and actually get off my backside and get a bike….this time for fun not out of necessity….thanks for sharing

I always smile when some chuckle head uses up-sell cliche like 'beginner motorcycle', car, whatever. Being experienced doesn't mean you need or want a bigger whatever. You buy the item that does the intended task.
I'm interested in trying one. I own an Africa Twin 1000, which is an awesome bike, but sometimes i struggle a bit due to the weight and the seat height. AT has almost double the power of the NC, but in reality i almost never use it to full extent. Having tried the DCT on the new AT, i'm looking forward to try it on the NC, as i think it contributes to the engine power delivery.
You can use 100 percent of the power on the nc750x, you'll never need anymore to take on evey day riding, I have a 1 year review video coming soon covering the power side of things.
A great lowdown on this bike. Rode one for a week in Gran Canaria. I've ridden virtually every type of bike over the last 40 years and I still found it enjoyable. You wouldn't want my average 35mpg of my Yamaha MT10 😲
As you pointed out, the balance on these bikes is something special, on any other bike, your feet would be going down a lot sooner, it just seems to balance itself, im assuming its the low centre of gravity, although i had another bike which had the petrol tank underneath the seat, but wasn't as steady as the nc
v well thought through mature review. Agree with all your points. Has no "cred" whatsoever unfotunately, but smart people who have rode them know they are a jack of all trades bike. Both the nc750s and x are seriously underrated bikes.
Great review, does the power and acceleration still have an element of Fun factor to it? Can it get out of its own way? Or is it pretty monotone and lacks excitement? Thanks
it still gives you a neck wrench, pulls when you need it and can break speed limit laws with a twist of the wrist. It has 100 percent usable power you will ever need for road riding.
Great, just what I wanted to hear... I have a 2021 on order and it’s supposed to be available mid June... I have been researching tons of bikes and this one seems to keep floating to the top, so I’m ready to pull the trigger... I currently ride a 2020 ninja 🥷 400 and will keep that bike also, but hoping the NC can be my everything bike... 🤠
Looking forward to a test ride on the 21 DCT model or the Forza 750. Getting older and could do with being able to change my leg position when my knee aches.
thanks for review answers all the questions i have as a new rider . Unfortunatly getting a DAS completed in Scotland is going to be a long process as no theory tests so needs to be bc125r for a year . But convinced this is the right bike for me to progress too . again thanks for the information
I testrode this today. I encourage anyone to go and do the same. The only downsides i could find is that the legs get a little bit crouched up if you are a taller fella and it doesn’t have cruise control. Shifts on the dct are seemless and there is absolutely no powershortage in this bike. If you load it up with passenger or luggage it might be a little bit too weak though but for a solo rider absolutely no issue. I could fit my helmet in the front trunk and i tested a -19. The trunk i larger on the newest model. Coming from a Triumph tiger 1200.
I think that the NC750X and the Benelli TRK 502 are the best choices available on the market today, they both share same overall qualities and low pricing.
Best experienced bikers bike ..not everyone wants a silly expensive ,expensive to maintain ,run , insure , Some experienced bikers want an affordable ,easy to maintain ,good second hand parts market . And up to legal speeds keeps up with anything as the tyres and braking are as good as anything , And for all the reasons mentioned in this post . Still got mine (700x) 10 years on all weather all year Scottish salty coastal riding and 80k miles . And nothing has broken in all my drops off road !(no crash bars or belly pan )
@@nicksepisode hope i do not bore you with some hints after 10 1/2 years ..remove all panels inc chain guard and grease all allen nuts . The rear light access is iffy at best and impossible once seized and grubby without breaking something . Gaitors front and rear will extend shock life immensely . Grease those linkage pins and change fork oil at least every 20, 24000 miles . They all seem daunting jobs if you not done them before but they are really easy as is valve adjustment .. Change the antifreeze regularly( and check type..very important !) and never ever put tap water in or you invite water pump seepage .Ride safe ! My brakes need regular cleaning too or they seize up fast .,but that's probably salty winter road riding .
@@MyKharli being a mechanic myself I perform these on all of my bikes, I've also covered some videos on these items and will do some more in the future, thanks for the input
Great feature bike ever seen! Just needs electronic suspension adjustment, 34KM/L WORLD'S BEST FUEL ECONOMY ON 750CC SEGMENT DUAL CHURCH TRANSMISSION, HONDA TRACTION CONTROL, DIFFERENT RIDDING MODE, EXTRA LAGRE STORAGE, VERY LOW MAINTENANCE BASED ENGINE HONDA NC750X, X-ADV ANYWHERE YOU CAN GO!
My only issue with having this as a first big bike would be cost. Id need at least 6 months on something cheaper that i wouldnt get stressed about dropping. For me (hopefully if i pass my DAS next month) i'm still looking at a Himmy 411 as a first bike then see where we go.
Saying a bike is a beginner bike is like saying a bike has training wheels. I'm 77 years old and have had about 50 bikes so far and my current bike weighs over 950 pounds. I'm looking for a lighter bike along with most of my old friends.
I hate confusing signs. 6:05 it's 4am in January your visor is pigging dirty, you've had to wipe it, it's just started snowing and you've never been up this road. Now you see 2 rights and 1 left. With which is it? I hate "Where did it go" moments with the road. That shit sucks.
My first and current bike is the cb500f and I love it but I'm tempted to move up to this one for that extra bit of power and stability at higher speeds on the motorway. I saw a nice used NC yesterday and am seriously considering it.
Reading trough the comments, it appears to be the overall opinion that a beginner bike should be smaller... I will buy my first bike soon, as a bloody beginner (started without previous experience directly with the A license...) and have a hard decision, obviously: should I buy a smaller bike, still priced around 4-5k... Or start with a complete bike that I can use for the next ten years, like the nc750x, which costs 6,5k (2021, used, up to 10k km)!? I dont want to prove something, I dont feel like speeding or doing twisties with friends etc. ... I just want to have a quality bike which takes me from home to new places, or to the city. Whats the problem with bigger bikes for beginners? I dont want to spend the money twice... Ofc I prefer to spend more money in exchange for my life, so... But on the other hand, a bigger bike like this is steady and more competitive (able to dodge a fast car coming from behind) for highways (I must deal with highways here and there... in sweden its limited 110km/h), right? I dont know... I must do the test rides, maybe I will feel whats right 😅 I would go for the non DCT version, because I learned to do it manually and I want to keep and deepen this knowledge 😊. My school-bike had 80hp - why should I change to something with 20-30hp (suggestion of my grandfather...). I am 26 btw.
I’m riding an Xsr900. I’m planning to get this in the DCT as a second bike to do everything in ( Work, tour, bad traffic) . Or should I sell my XSR900 & get a Tracer gt ( less economical & less storage)
Xsr900 is a nice addition to have with the nc750x, I wouldn't part with that, never ridden a tracer but the nc ticks all the boxes for me so I'm bias lol. Ride safe
They now just need to put cruise control on the bike and an option for more travel from the suspension. For the rest price to value nothing comes close too this bike. Nice reviews bye the way. Next year my girlfriend wil drive this bike.
It would be yes, my brother is a similar height and no issues. You can also buy adjustable foot pegs from swmotech. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching
@@nicksepisode That interesting cause it makes a little more HP but a lot more torque (err well I checked 1 place says 68nm of torque and another says 51nm, so not sure which is right)
I have an NC750S and a CBR500R. Fuel economy is roughly the same (Honda notes exactly the same figure for both). The 500 engine is slightly better around 30mph, the 750 slightly better at 60mph+. Honda's 500 bikes do tend to have a bigger fuel tank than the NC. You could easily cover 200 miles on either of them before refueling. In terms of power, the 500 bikes peak much higher in the rev range, so you'd be using more fuel in the 500s to get that power.
Why, oh why, oh, oh why... do people keep referring to the Honda NC's as a "beginner" bike. I've never yet met a beginner rider on one. Most of the riders I've come across are very experienced and chose the Honda because, ultimately, it makes perfect sense to own one compared to the pointless sports bikes and overweight adventure bikes. I can only assume it's because the Honda doesn't quite fit into any of the "agreed" categories of bikes so people assume it's for beginners who will grow up and find a "proper" bike. Ridiculous. Rant over.
Did you watch till the end? Its a bike for life, I'm inviting new riders to this secret world of owning the best motorcycle around, and the key to that door is using the beginner bike tactic
@@nicksepisode But that is my problem, and I should add it's not just you. It's in the title "Beginner". To me this completely undersells the bike before you watch the video. So not a complaint about the video, just the title.
I really don´t understand this beginner bike nonsense. Clearly if you are into racing - this is the wrong bike. For me it is the best allaround in every aspect I need.
HI, thanks for your comment. Sorry if I made the nc750x sound less superior in this video but I use the word beginner very loosely, and of course this is my opinion too. Here in the UK riders undertake an extensive training course with 3 tests to get through, before they are aloud to ride a big bike, so only take my choice of word with a pinch of salt, riders generally know what to expect when buying there first big bike. Ride safe buddy.

v well thought through mature review. Agree with all your points. Has no "cred" whatsoever unfotunately, but smart people who have rode them know they are a jack of all trades bike. Both the nc750s and x are seriously underrated bikes.
100 percent, thanks for commenting, ride safe
You won't regret it bud, you have a bike for life there. Ride safe
Thanks 😊
Reviews like yours are very meaningful to a lot of people, Keep up the good work!!! 👍👍
@@kevinturner6888 thank you it means a lot, and comments like yours keep me going 😀
Dct is awesome but if you get it as a first bike, you definitely never want to go back.
I'm yet to try one of these
Looking forward to a test ride on the 21 DCT model or the Forza 750.
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. Ride safe buddy
Coming from a Triumph tiger 1200.
cruse control would be nice!
I think that the NC750X and the Benelli TRK 502 are the best choices available on the market today, they both share same overall qualities and low pricing.
Benelli TRK 502 should be compared to CB500X. both great bikes.
I couldn't put it better myself. You hit the nail on the head there!
Excellent thanks 🙏.
I been riding Same bike 🚲 for three years .
Thanks man, definitely helped quell some of my beginner fears
Glad to help, ride safe bud
Great feature bike ever seen!
Just needs electronic suspension adjustment,
34KM/L WORLD'S BEST FUEL ECONOMY ON 750CC SEGMENT
DUAL CHURCH TRANSMISSION,
HONDA TRACTION CONTROL,
DIFFERENT RIDDING MODE,
EXTRA LAGRE STORAGE,
VERY LOW MAINTENANCE BASED ENGINE
HONDA NC750X, X-ADV ANYWHERE YOU CAN GO!
I could agree on the electronic suspension, but costs would rise, although they could bring out a luxury version
@@nicksepisode right ✅
Hi Nick. As you’ve commented on the great riding position, may I ask your height and leg length, please?
Hi, my inner seam is 29.5 inches and my height is 5ft9, thanks
@@nicksepisode thanks!
This is such a great vid mate...I'm doing my DAS course soon and really interested in this bike. Cheers
Thanks for the comment, good luck with your DAS. Keep me updated !
I tryed the dct version, i love it. I'm just a little worried bcos i read few NC owners has a problem with the dct.
As long as your battery is in good working order and the oil is serviced regularly you should be fine
Thank you for this material. Maybe you know the reason why Honda had decided not to operate rear brake with left hand?
That would be a good idea, I don't know why they don't to be honest
My only issue with having this as a first big bike would be cost. Id need at least 6 months on something cheaper that i wouldnt get stressed about dropping. For me (hopefully if i pass my DAS next month) i'm still looking at a Himmy 411 as a first bike then see where we go.
Neil the Himalayan will be a great bike, however the nc750x is easier to manage weight wise due to its low slung centre of gravity.
Saying a bike is a beginner bike is like saying a bike has training wheels. I'm 77 years old and have had about 50 bikes so far and my current bike weighs over 950 pounds. I'm looking for a lighter bike along with most of my old friends.
It has metaphorical training wheels, in the sense it's perfectly ballance and less likely to fall.
Wow that’s heavy! Either the NC or the CB500X would be much lighter and still fun.
You know I never noticed 😅 well spotted
Excellent practical list… thank you.
Thanks Kevin
My favourite for my first big bike at the moment is the CB500X but now you have me thinking....
Both fantastic bikes
My first and current bike is the cb500f and I love it but I'm tempted to move up to this one for that extra bit of power and stability at higher speeds on the motorway. I saw a nice used NC yesterday and am seriously considering it.
good review feller
Thank you
Reading trough the comments, it appears to be the overall opinion that a beginner bike should be smaller... I must do the test rides, maybe I will feel whats right 😅
I would go for the non DCT version, because I learned to do it manually and I want to keep and deepen this knowledge 😊. My school-bike had 80hp - why should I change to something with 20-30hp (suggestion of my grandfather...). I am 26 btw.
This bike is one for life, it will do it all.
Ride safe
@@nicksepisode thanks. Will be adding the NC once Covid is buried
They now just need to put cruise control on the bike and an option for more travel from the suspension. For the rest price to value nothing comes close too this bike. Nice reviews bye the way. Next year my girlfriend wil drive this bike.
Agreed cruise control would complete this bike. Thanks the support. And to the both of you, ride safe 😀
SOLD! Excellent points.
Hi Guys, I’ve bought a Honda NC750S, is it the same kind of bike? I’m certainly enjoying it.
Pretty much! It's a fantastic bike
@@nicksepisode Hey thanks, I’ve watched your video and I feel very happy with my choice. I particularly like the torque, low down useable power.
You mean for serie experience people?.. i want yo start in the bike world and im wondering wich would be a good option
In my country we are required to ride a 125 first, so when I use the word beginner I mean your first big bike.
Love that blue color!!!
thank you 😊
Great review..l am getting very sold on one of these :)
You never mentioned if this was a DCT version?
It's the geared version 😀
Nice video nick.
Thank you 😊
Is it suitable for 196cm riders ?
It would be yes, my brother is a similar height and no issues. You can also buy adjustable foot pegs from swmotech. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching
Would it suitable for somebody 6-foot6
I would say you may need the sw motech pegs because you can adjust them, my brother Brad who is just over 6ft said it's fine
And for short riders ? (5'4)
Try the 2021 model, ride height is lower.
one other plus is that the 2021 model has a lower seat!
Oh yes, the 2021 model is where the best just got better!
I just can't see this being better handling than a Versys 650.
The nc750x has a much lower centre of gravity than the versys, try both then make an accurate decision 😀
So does this bike get better gas mileage than a CB500 type bike?
Pretty much on par
@@nicksepisode That interesting cause it makes a little more HP but a lot more torque (err well I checked 1 place says 68nm of torque and another says 51nm, so not sure which is right)
@when da show the nc engine is a very low revving engine based on a car, it has different valve set up for economy and reliability
NC750X ? Yes,but only with DCT !
So good u sold it😁
Didn't sell it because it was bad ?
I really don´t understand this beginner bike nonsense. Clearly if you are into racing - this is the wrong bike. For me it is the best allaround in every aspect I need.
From the points you just mentioned this makes it a perfect first big bike
@@nicksepisode You are a really nice guy Nick
BMW look out DCT!
:O
I shouldn't have to get an automatic and live overseas to get a Honda that isn't red. Come on Honda
Blue ones are faster you know
@@nicksepisode i bet black ones are even faster
Only because its in stealth mode 😁
His mpg claims appear to me to be very unrealistic
Go essy on your throttle
It is not a beginner bike. Period.
@@nicksepisode not the power, but the weight. Ride safe.
Or cb500f.
Also a very good first big bike, and the cb500x
i never saw left side driving, it just looks so wrong all the time, habbits are a burden
i would not advise it in your country haha
I don't want all the doodads like tc and modes.
Tc was introduced in 2018, ride by wire in 2021 with adjustable riding modes
750 cc for Beginers. lol lol... keep your mind to yourself... U WILL KILL SOMEONE WITH YOUR ADVICE RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING!
Take your own advice my friend
no it's not, way too heavy for beginners.
potentially in some cases, id suggest to anyone try test riding one first.
Exactly
