    Nice work! Some grease in the diff's should be a nice touch! Absolute stunning job!!

    I really liked this video breaking down to show what you did. The diff was very interesting but didn't look much different to what you would buy or even what you get in a full size car.
    But what did blow my mind was the shock absorbers that are on it. If you can did a video on those and how you built them that would be amazing. Thanks.

    Thanks for the great design. One of my favorites. I have been tempted to design a 3d printed body for the truggy. Perhaps when my current one give up the ghost. Next project? Now we need a RC tank or better yet a truggy with 3d printed tracks!

    Do you use any kind of lubricant on plastic gears, like those found in the differential? I'm amazed they held up so well too.

    Hi, in the front and rear differential housing boxes, are there are sockets connecting to the drive shafts. Can you tell me where you got those sockets? Thanks.

    great video, I'm really interested in Purchasing my own 3D printer to create an RC car with polycarbonate gearbox and drivetrain. Can anybody tell me is the Creality 3D CR-10S 3D any good at printing polycarbonate? Or can you recommend something better?

    I'm a bit mystified by the upangle on the ChassisFront where the Front Differential housing sits. This angle causes the Diff to sit on an angle but then the Top Deck Front is supposed to mate with the Front DIff, but the Top Deck is flat whereas the Front Diff is now on this up angle due to the Chassis Front. Is this right and if so what's the purpose of that angle (because it means the wishbones aren't parallel to the ground now). And finally how do you deal with the angle mismatch of the TopDeck and the Front Diff where they should join?

    Daniel, do you think it would work to cast the 3d prints in alluminium to make the differentials, and do you have files for a 3d printed chassis for the car?

    • @DanielNoree
      @DanielNoree  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I don't have any experience with that but I'm sure there's someone in the openrc facebook group that knows. =)
      There's a step file of the complete assembly of the openrc truggy at thingiverse, you can check that out.

  • @philiplemerise5484

    This has been a great project so far but I am having difficult with the differential gear assembly. The gears are binding and I am wondering if I do not have my printer set with a small enough nozzle to get the precision neede for the gears. I am using PLA because this is an experiment for me and I only have good luck with printing PLA. If I can get any advice on how to print the gears in PLA or if I am better off buying metals gears thats fine,I just want to move forward with my build. I f Someone knows the part numbers needed for the metal gears that would be great. Thanks

    • @DanielNoree
      @DanielNoree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Philip, thanks for commenting and also engaging in the project. I think your better of buying a off the shelf differential (ask for recommendations in the Facebook group). The diff is designed for ABS and this a calculated for a certain amount of shrinking. It also need to be able to withstand more heat than PLA can take due to friction.

    i have serious issues with the gears inside the differentials. No matter what material I try, there is just too much friction. With nylon printed gears you won't have automatic wear. They need to be perfect from the beginning. But in my case the are not. I tried different many different print settings without success.
    My latest attempt was to actually shrink the gears a bit in 3dmax. They are now a lot better. But i still don't understand how other people manage to get it working properly

      You could try trow in polishing and sanding mediums (like fine sand mixed with grease that usually wears things down and when around there chance to polishing stuff for car painting) to smooth the surfaces? You dont need to force system by driving it with load. Put it on stand and let it rip on air for some while (dont know since i haven done it).
