I love how the mod community for THPS/GH is so supportive of each other and blend so well. Nothing like a bunch of skating game fans that also love music games!
i think what glues us together the most is Neversoft, they really made something special with both THPS and their work with GH, and ofc they share Neversoft's engine so there's quite a bit of crossover when it comes to modding, specially with THAW, THP8 and THPG

At the conventions I help to run here in the UK Guitar Hero is still one of the most popular games we have available for people to play, like there isn't a single moment where someone isn't playing the game from the moment we open till the moment we close every day and most of the people playing it are in their 30s or 40s
I remember 6-7 years ago I randomly found Thug Pro and tried to play it, but I quickly abandoned it again because of the input and resolution issues you mentioned in this video. I haven't touched it ever since. Just randomly found this video and your recommendation of Rethawed got me intrigued! I think it's finally time for me to revisit Tony Hawk! I probably haven't played the games in over a decade, I've been missing it so much. Thanks for putting this on my radar ❤️
As a THPS single player only type, this really sounds great. THUGPRO should integrate the Storymode, too, maybe integrate the PSP story. I never ever play online, it just gives me nothing, so THUGPRO is just kinda try out a few maps and exit again. It feels so incomplete without any sort of campaign or career.
THUGPRO at bare minimum needs to implement a create a classic mode where anybody can select levels and create goals for each one kinda like a SM maker and have them posted online to try out with zero restrictions like high score could be 100 points or a billion points.

While i knew of the series before, it's kinda hard to escape if you grew up in the 00's, THUG PRO was my first full introduction to the series, which eventually drove me to play the actual singleplayer campaigns. Games where the traversal of the environment is the main mechanic are really rare.

I had a mate who would only use a keyboard, and pretty much disregarded controllers all together. Thug 2 and thaw was fuckin brutal. I was used to gamecube 😂
The focus issue is fixed with adding a certain dll. Forgot which one, but yeah i beat the entirety of thug2 on pc with no mods. Their is a patch for the focus glitch.
Is anyone else having a problem in the santa monica chapter where you shoot the balloons at the surfers, but instead of shooting balloons you just toss skateboards that don't clear the railing?
I really wish they wouldve done with they did with rethawed to thugpro instead, i fear this will split the community in the future, and its already pretty small. either way looks interesting, will stay on thugpro for now but this video has me tempted to look into rethawed. thanks for the video!

I am on the pc 24/7, always have been, and even I don't act like jumping through those hoops is normal or easy. So, no, you werent being pedantic by complaining about the installation process, you were accurately describing the nightmare of PC gaming that we deal with so often to the point that it begins to feel naturally chaotic. You are saying you don’t need to install the base game for the latest rethawed? I couldn’t get the it or thug pro working on Lenovo legion go just because i couldn’t get the base game working from the internet archive iso/noCD…. I have thug1 working but missions with called out tricks sucks when its telling me to use keyboard buttons instead of playstastion/xbox buttons. Do they address that in the thugpro/rethawed mods?
You do need to install the base game, just search thaw pc and it should come up. I believe thug pro has button markers? But rethawed definitely has PlayStation and Xbox buttons

the only thing i have a problem with is that spine transfer and manual spin is the same button. it kind of bothers me since it can mess up my combos. if anybody haas a fix for this please let me know.
Reset your controls in the launcher to PS2 Bindings. If that doesn't help, there are control options in the gameplay options that let you bind both of those to different keys on the virtual controller.
Control scheme and graphics for THAW was the best, but the story and levels were lacking. Plus the false advertising of "no load times", which was actually achieved by THP8 despite all of its other short comings.

I’ve def done this for casual playthroughs, but when I was speedrunning thug 2, PS2 and GC loading times were far too long. Also it’s just nice to have native PC ports working considering they were actually released and just need patches/fixes
You just plug it in and play. No need to bind and set a controller in the launcher. if you would like to change binds for your controller you can do that in-game.
I loved TH games. Still have THUG, THAW, THPG on my PS2. But how do you still enjoy to play them after skate released. Weirdly the first skate is my favorite. After the first time playing iy back in the day I went back to TH games and it felt not fun anymore. I'm sorry but it just feels very plasticky cheap. It's like half my childhood went poof just because of some new game.

theres native pc ports for all of the PS2 titles, you do not need an emulator

Might be a silly question, but how do you setup a controller?
You just plug it in and play. No need to bind and set a controller in the launcher. if you would like to change binds for your controller you can do that in-game.
