- Hello everyone! This video is something of a sequel to my last video,
where we looked at 50 things you might not have known about Tony Hawk's
Underground. This time, we'll be doing the same thing for Tony Hawk's
Underground 2. I really hope you all enjoy it.

0:40 Yes, sort of; as far as I recall, there's only collision data for some of the map, and not all of the map is there.
6:44 Smashing these whilst in a combo will grant bonus points. I think it's 100 a piece, but it also increases the multiplier, no cap.
8:16 Grind the lamp (a bit tricky to pull off) after the teapot, you get a gap.
10:20 It's the original event that gets duped as the bull runs about. The dupes eventually vanish (because of obvious reasons).

19:56 Yup, another leftover from THPS3, only, they removed the trigger for playing the voice clips (since there is no associated goal anymore). The gap associated with the dropping of the car was turned into a text popup.

34:04 It can technically be triggered more than once. It does require a very fast pair of grinds. It also has a chance of crashing the game, which on PC, triggers WerFault, but on console, triggers a screen freeze or a screen of death of various sorts.
36:38 If one looks at the sign for which of the binary assignments applies, it adds a lot of context. Nothing I can safely elaborate on, not on this platform anyway.
38:40 Nope, those censor bars are a secondary layer; they can be 'removed' (turned transparent). Unfortunately, there's no detailed nips and/or areolas; just pink stars (which can be accessed for the CAS in the *_Anteara_* mod).

One more note; OOB checks are usually based on player coordinates, but most of the checks are for X/Y and not for Z (vertical) coords, hence why getting OOB with moon gravity or with going over the rail and near the water (like with Downhill Jam) doesn't trigger a reset_pos event.

During the peak PS2 era, I used to play THUG 2 online daily and was apart of a clan called GHS aka. Glitch Hunters. We pretty much would spend hours every day pushing each level to its limits. Most out of bounds area can be access by simply standing in a corner of a building, window or even the fish tank on Berlin and doing a flip trick till you clip through the wall. There’s sooo many other glitches as well especially on the Australia level.
Played all the way till the servers were shut off 😢

If you set a restart point on the airboat in New Orleans then go to it after the boat sinks, you can walk around the swamp area freely.

Honestly it's impressive how every single playable skater has their own unique graffiti tag design. Almost as if having those many playable characters at your disposal wasn't enough.

Downhill Jam was a remnant of the original design of THPS1. Which was planned to be a skateboard racing game similar to the arcade game Top Skater. Which was one of the biggest inspirations for the project. They discovered a Top Skater arcade cabinet at their local bowling alley while developing the game Apocalypse for the PS1. They discovered during playtesting that testers would ignore the race component altogether and just do tricks instead. Which caused them to pivot the level design into skateparks instead.

Yeah, I remember reading about that too - I think that's definitely something I'd mention if I were to do a THPS1 version of this video. It's interesting to see that there were more linear levels in the beta as well, which were cut.
In terms of the politicians, they are all US Presidents. The first one (at 7:22) is the White House Historical Association portrait of Harry S. Truman. The second one (7:29) is most certainly George Washington (the WHHA and NPG portraits are essentially the same for him). The third one (7:41) is the National Portrait Gallery portrait of Thomas Jefferson. And the final one (7:46) looks like the NPG portrait of James Monroe.

Another game I've played more times than I can count, and I STILL didn't know about half of these, even after having watched the Oddheader videos beforehand. Mindblowing stuff, and it's inspiring me to make similar videos about games I've played inside and out.

To add onto the lore of the andyTHPS ledge, he first did the manual in a part of a video made for the online community at the time. I can't quite find the original video anymore, but andy himself can probably tell you the entire story.

It was not censored. Oddheader had an interview with the developers of the original Tony Hawks and he mentioned the fact that in the other versions of the game, the transparency layer that was using the original PlayStation 2 version probably did not translate well onto the other versions of the game. There was no controversy or censorship that occurred
Yup, Sony's effects were pretty intensive. If you look at Castlevania Symphony of the Night on PSX vs Saturn, you can see how the port can't handle the transparency effects without resorting to dithering.

an interesting tidbit about the ramp kid falling is that the "i dont wanna die" is a unused placeholder quote from the hanging car in THPS3 LA, as if you play in the beta PS2 build thats what the guy says, along with 1-2 other placeholder quotes

@@MattJ155 i might have gotten something wrong, its not unused, but it was a placeholder quote from the driver of the hanging car in the beta PS2 THPS3 build.
I used to do the fish tank glitch on Berlin when I was younger. But you dont need to create a goal to do it, you just need to set your custom respawn in the broken tank, reset the level, then spawn at your custom point.
You could also get inside the lip-able UFO on The Triangle, but I cant for the life of me remember how..

couldn't you just do a corner glitch to get in there? or the set restart while bailing glitch? i remember using those methods on every wall when i was a kid
@@catethps I've tried the set restart bailing glitch, and hadn't had any luck, and dont think a corner glitch would work on it.
I remember there being graffiti tags all over the UFOs glass bubble, and when id get in finally, id be annoyed that the graffiti tags were obstructing the view.. But now when I go in and try, I have no idea how graffiti tags had anything to do with it..
Really wish I could tap into my childhood memories more for this one.

There was a glitch with Shrek's animations (at least in the gamecube version) where when you held down A to crouch / accelerate, his jaw would poke through the back of his head. Strangely though, turning the camera to get a good look at this will push his face back together

super fun video, thug 2 was my first tony hawk game and it was soo good that I started to play the whole series.
One thing about the video I would like to mention, 43:43 , if you look closer at the “Mystery Machine” van on the other side there is a dog outside the window with his tongue out, so much detail! when I played this in my childhood I’ve replaced the minicooper car model from Barcelona with this one so I can have a better look! Keep it up, very informative and well delivered videos! 🎉🎉

44:43 i think that sound is from the pro skater 3 beta! there was place holder audio for the stop the car chase goal in los angeles, and if i remember that would be it.

I loved thps thru american wasteland. But my 2 favorite was thug 1 & 2. Didn't buy another thps game until the newest one. Loved the video. Learned alot of stuff and ive put countless hours into them

22:00 if you’re in the middle of a combo and you try to graffiti, your tag will also be much larger than normal.
Also, specific to the GameCube version (maybe only the PAL version too, but I’m not sure), when doing story mode, you can completely bypass the Berlin level. If you just go talk to Phil immediately after the level loads, he’ll tell you that you can move on to the next level without having to actually do any of the goals.
Out of all the facts mentioned here, one of the few I did not know about was Bigfoot's original location. I did not know about that before! and I've played this game A LOT over the years.
Also, Jeff. Praise Jeff. I didn't know about this one either.
As for the Barcelona stretcher, it's also visible on the PSP version. It's also still there on the other versions (if you glitch through the wall, you can see it) but it seems like there's some kind bug on the GC, Xbox and PC versions that makes dynamic objects not visible through transparent textures.
On the PC port, Nick Kang does not have a unique graffiti tag. The one he has is the default CAS one.

Man this was a dope video. I new most but the way I remember getting to New Jersey was using the set up/reset in a corner on remix(the psp port). This was my first TH game and I still love it, I think THAW is the best in the series and I have a huge love for THPG. I have every main game even 2x, thug2 remix, and the special version of THAW. Personally thps3 is the best out of the trilogy but starting with thps4 is when the series starting getting truly amazing
I remember seeing that method on TH-cam before this current one was discovered. I'm just thankful that this new method is much easier and quicker to do. :)
I know I'm almost a year too late with it, but I want to say one thing though:
32:40 In THPS1, Training is called "Warehouse, Woodland Hills". Funnily enough, Woodland Hills is located in LA, California. Hearing that the actual location of the warehouse is in Idaho is quite amusing. The Devs definitely didn't think this through, as Los Angeles is already a level they brought back and of course they couldn't place 2 levels on the same spot.

Great vid bro! I think there's also one more in Boston. If I remember correctly, if you go to the front of the Boston Tea Party boat and stand on the grate to the cellar you'll see a bunch of red eyes blinking. It's been a long time since I've played though so I could be wrong

4:21 you can get here with the moon gravity cheat as well as numerous areas (my favourite is Manhattan, past the two cops guarding an out of bounds area.
One of the houses , I think the brown-ish one from my hazy memory, in the create a park mode can be clipped through and has interior textures

it's weird that I know this but at 41:07 the cobblestone floor texture is used in counter strike 1.6 for the de_cbble map's walls, and it can also be seen in hitman 2 in one of the early levels.
Flippy uploaded a video recently about the lost cheat codes of THUG 2. Similar to the lost Gran Turismo 4 cheats that have been discovered recently. I think you should do a follow up video on this!

The swamp monster could actually be a reference to the new Orleans very own werewolf legend known as a roogaru. Theyre men with the heads of wolfs and are primarily seen wondering the swamps.
The part about tags really makes me think they were gonna let AI tag on RNG like in Bully.

THUG2 is my first Tony Hawk game. Gameplay peaked with this IMO.
Looking at those politician clown paintings, I recognise at least two of them.
One is FDR, but surprisingly the other is Margaret Thatcher; a former British Prime Minister.
Fun Fact that nobody seems to know since I cant find anything on the internet about it:
Theres a Sound test bug in the game that nobody has seem to have found, despite how easy it is to accidently come across.
I’m still early in the video, so I’m not sure if it was caught but on the same dumpster in the Jenny one, there is also a not to the Beastie Boys with the 3MTA3 which is what they did to get “eat me” onto their album artwork for Licensed to Ill
If have thug pro and you want to see New Jersey in the training level, you can use the free camera tool that comes with thug pro to teleport yourself there.

You didn't talked about it but did you know that you can pass trough almost any wall? You just need to put yourself into the nearest corned of that wall and get out of your skate then face the corner and do impossible then get out of your skate very fast, do that again several time and you'll pass to the wall like magic. I used to play hide and seek with my friend at the time using this method
Oh man I remembered being that robot skater but I replaced the head with a skull and added in a helmet and made em like the Spooky Space Kook from Scooby Doo

10:30 pretty sure its because you were either intended to be able to see more of it at one point, or just to make it look more legit if you were to be able to see more of it from another angle. maybe they noticed the overkill and decided to use it as the goal picture. one things for sure you can def tell it wasnt meant to be explored because of the low quality textures
