you actually can still import character models, it just requires you to replace skater models in the files for the original THUG2 (because replacing THUGPRO model files will make the auto updater swap them out when you launch the game). Some downloads for them on THPSX will have specific models that they're meant to replace but others will have you pick one and rename the files accordingly. I personally like to replace the pedestrian/misc skater models which are located in the game/data/models/peds folder in the THUG2 files
Is it possible to swap out CAS models? I'm considering making a model myself in the future but i want to continue using my CAS character instead of having to switch to another one when i'm playing online

great review. thugpro is great, I do like the multiplayer mode. if you like the classic mode, maybe the thpspro mod for thps 1+2 will be a nice opportunity in the future, they already have got skate letters and tapes in the thps 3 maps and letters in 4 and some other goals. also I think the create-a-park mode is great if you like classic goals, many creators put goals in their maps like combo 5 cones, smash 5 chests and find the gnome, it's usually in the description of the maps or sometimes the maps are called capc maps (create a park contest), that was used in the subreddit thpscap. capc2 also with purple and yellow gaps.
great review :^) i suggest you also take a look at the reTHAWed mod for THAW (tony hawk's american wasteland). it's been in development since 2018 and started off as a tiny qol mod, but is now starting to become what thugpro is, and it's been getting really good over the years, the devs behind it are really chill and nice in my experience aswell. so i suggest you go check them out aswell !!

Classic mode would make this a must play for me. I don't play a ton of multiplayer stuff and freeskate is cool but you gotta mix it up to keep me interested. A huge classic mode going through every map in the series is like a dream. Something I've imagined in my head ever since THUG 2 came out and first introduced having classic alongside the campaign.
Almost every map has a Goal Attack mode which is kinda like Classic mode, with stuff like SKATE and COMBO letters. I just play it solo most of the time. :P

6:06 Last time I checked only the Underground secret skaters had all their unique stuff, and from what you showed in your video it still seems that way. Hopefully someday they can port their stuff in the mod.
I've played THUG Pro at 2 separate times in my life. I think if it had missions in single player, it'd be top 3 greatest gaming achievements of all time.
You can play the classic mode goals for all the THUG 2 maps online by starting a goal attack game. It would be nice if they added classic goals for all the other maps that had them, though. Been playing THUG Pro for 10 years now and for a style/prov player like me, it's definitely my favorite TH "game." It has the best physics and offers the most creative freedom which is key to how I play the game.
Well, the online community was still small in 2010, ps2 needing DNS #'s to log online, and the xbox 360 american wasteland was whatever that was, but thugpro was always for the community that was always there, and now continuing to bring old people back and new people alike. The community stopped after american wasteland though, way before thps5 was a thing.

The THUG games have a ton of mechanical upgrades like acid drops, getting on/off your board(can even continue your combo), natas spins, hip drops, focus(slow time) etc. THUGPRO has even more with stuff added from THAW like Bones Ollie's, and even has an emphasis on utilizing community found exploits with the games new systems like butt slaps(get you more air). While the latest remasters were great, THUG just had more going on to keep combos going

Why didn’t they use the project 8 engine? I way preferred thug2 as a game but wasn’t the project 8 engine more refined? Genuine question, I barely played project 8 I grew up on pro skater up to American wasteland then stopped really playing
Project 8 never had a proper PC port, so it might be near impossible to build something like this on that engine unless someone reverse engineered it to work on PC(I would love to see this btw) But THUG 2 is essentially where the game mechanics peaked. THAW had a couple of new additions but those are added into this mod to complete the gameplay package.
