The best version of John singing “You’re the Voice” is the live version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It is Epic! The rule with John is go for his live performances. Also watch out for his mike and mike stand tricks and audience interaction when he performs live.

Just imagine this song sung live in an arena full of people helping John sing this song with an orchestra playing in the background. That’s what happened when John sang it with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Worth checking out. John is an absolute legend and such a nice man. Love him.

John is adored by all of us here in Australia. Now in his early 70's & fighting cancer he is very much in our thoughts & prayers at this difficult time. Another must watch is John & Olivia Newton John singing Please Don't Ask Me. They had a lifelong friendship, the chemistry between them in this live version if unmissable. God bless you John!

John is a mega star in Australia
If you get a chance, watch him perform this live in front of a crowd. It's a whole other level. He has so many huge hits in Australia, so its hard to know where to start....
Playing to Win, Pressure Down, Angels, Let me Out, Blow By Blow, Chain Reaction, That's Freedom, Age of Reason, One, Don't you Know it Magic, Burn for You, Please Dont Ask Me, When Something is Wrong with My Baby,
You cant go wrong with any of those...and remember, always live with Farnham

John Farnham You’re The Voice was Top 20 hit for John in the UK (6), Ireland (3), Austria (6), Belgium (20), Canada (12), the Netherlands (15), New Zealand (13), Switzerland (3) and hit number one in Germany and Sweden and one of the biggest hits of 1986 in Australia.
Whispering Jack is still the highest selling album by an Australian artist in Australian chart history with more than 1.7 million sales / 24 times Platinum.
Olivia Newton John sang with him a lot and said he is her favorite male singer of all time to sing with. Also, both were good friends for life.
If you watch the movie on his life this whole album saved his life as a singer all of the music industry had said no to him because a song he did as a young man called Sadie, the Cleaning Lady. No one would touch him, his friend and family had to help with their own money and label. Glenn Wheatley (Little River Band) had to walk into many radio places, and none would take the song until one woman listened to it and said stop everything play that song now!!! I am not a big fan but the movie made me cry John suffered so bad and had bad depression, but he loves his fans so hard. Poor guy has mouth cancer now.

Taken in context with the 1986 release, when it was racing up the charts in countries all over the World, it’s success in many European countries was just prior to the iron curtain falling in 1989 and the subsequent pulling down of the Berlin Wall. It was and still is an anthem that is relevant today.

The live version with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is incredible - do listen to it! What I love about this song is that it uses the music of war - the strong marching cadence of the drums, which also mimic a heartbeat, and the bagpipes, which were traditionally played on battlefields both to boost the morale of Scottish fighters and to intimidate the opposition - to *protest* against war and factionalism. The whole song is a battle-cry for peace. It's a brilliant musical arrangement, a timeless message, and an unforgettable anthem all at once.

Being old school, of course I have an mp3 file with it, in case they pulled out of streamings but I'm digressing. Video clips: John can sing Anything parts 1 to. 4(?) will show you anthem, message /protest /ballad /love/ early pop and novelty pop / up tempo with jazz notes/ kiddies song/ hard rock /clips of concert and stage show songs/ opera /country. Some covers. Duets with Tom Jones, Celine Dion +++, and so on. Real powerhouse, unique voice, huge range, his backing singers and band are also phenomenal, all big music pedigrees - Google them all. And yes, concerts with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are out of this world - stratospheric. And also watch Mitch Tambo, and other aussie and aussie indigenous aboriginal artistes. As others have stated, you need to listen to his LIVE performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, this is much more powerful rendition of The Voice..
Please react to his LIVE version of The Voice and also ''HELP'' Live is a must.

The main reason I love this man is that he very easily could have become a stereotypical, degenerate product of the international entertainment industry, but because of his love for his family and the country that he loved so dearly, he became an absolute LEGEND to his fan base in Australia.

Trailer to documentary of John’s career, which started in 1967, opened in Aussie cinemas on 18 May. My wife and I saw the premiere in Tasmania. The Launceston cinema was right out of the 80s - even the sound system. The link is to the trailer - th-cam.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/w-d-xo.html.

Please review "Help" by John and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. You will love it! This shows the power and what he can do with his voice.

Next John Farnham song should actually be Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham featuring Diesel “when something is wrong with my baby” and follow that up with John Farnham’s “Two strong hearts”

Another reviewer did this recorded version first and canned it...... he was not impressed, as I wouldn’t be.
He read all the hate mail from Australia and decided to do the live version as recommended..... now that reviewer is a John Farnham fan and just as savage about him as we are......... real singers and musicians almost always sound better live , without interference from label execs and managers.
I recommend you do Help live with the MSO, then The Voice and Its A Long Way To The Top ....all from the same concert.
Then for something REALLY special...... check out his duet with Jimmy Barnes..... When Something Is Wrong With My Baby...... live of course. lol
