You guys wanted more John Farnham reactions so I am here to give you EXACTLY THAT! Please let me know what else I should watch because I MUST HEAR MORE!!
This is one that nobody’s done, but a beautiful song. Vocal, audience and band engagement. From the same concert. Beyond the Call. th-cam.com/video/rIK6ifyG8hg/w-d-xo.html
John Farnham and Human Nature.
The little of heard of your voice reminds me of Edie Brickell. Not sure why.
He had pockets of following all over the world, but essentially he's one of the greatest and best-kept vocal and musical secrets ever. He's been a true legend here since the 60s, and it's only now, via TH-cam, and being in his mid-70s and in poor health, he's getting a little of the global recognition he so richly deserves....
Amen to that ❤
@@sianprice7210 And I second that 💖 Never get tired of watching or listening to him. Love you John Farnham 💗
jimmy barnes is better. always will be...
hawks suck since buddy left. in like 09 LOL
You're The Voice is such an iconic song, it is ageless; it doesn't matter what decade you were born in, or current times, the message is the same.
One thing to understand about John is that he just loves to sing. I worked on a tour making a doco of the journey. I also worked with him at the Nine network on shows like Hey Hey its Saturday (great time in tv here...) The voice is natural. John was never formally trained. It is also mind-bendingly loud, hence the nickname "Whispering Jack". In the TV studio we had to put additional "pads" into his mic to stop him from overloading the gain chain... His voice is huge! But he has an ear for the mix....balance... hence the mic technique.. John and his long time backup singers (whom he loves!) would warm up before gigs back stage, in a dressing room , or a corridor, or wherever, and sing Amazing Grace,... acapella... It was just the most insane explosion of vocal harmony and love for the art of the voice,... and anyone nearby, crew, press, techos, "VIP"s, door dudes, minders, promoters... would just be mesmerised and shattered by the shear joy that these awesome artists shared. There were many tears and such love in that space....
It got worse. At the end of a gig we would all retire to whatever hotel we were staying at... A few beers later, and maybe there was a piano... and then these guys would just start vocal jamming on classic blues and folk tunes in the bar. They just loved to sing! Even after a huge gig. To be there was an insanely lucky privilege. I witnessed that perfect celebration of an art and its purity, ...its reach into the hearts of all present. Fuck it was fun.....
...and John is a great guy! ...Real, no airs or graces...would bot a smoke off you, tell jokes, just happy among friends and to be singing his heart out. Unbelievable experience...
In this age of managed everything and calculated success, where big data sequencers, and computer algorithms determine what you hear, John Farnham and his mates are a reminder of a time when music was still about live creativity, not calculation.
Secondly you mentioned the backup singers.... these guys had been with him for 20 plus years. Each in their own right incredible artists. Lisa, Vanetta, Lindsay et al... All of them, like John, had one common element. they just loved to sing..... so much joy!!
Thirdly,......what a song! What an anthem for all of youth? Especially now! Should be subtitled in Ukrainian and broadcast/shared far and wide…
I'd like to see the likes of AOC, Bernie and other Dems use this as an intro to a campaign speech, a call to arms for the young and disheartened of America. It doesnt matter that it's an Australian song, it is an anthem for all that calls on everyone to rise above the divisions and re unite a country, in a positive way, heading into the most imortant election that I can imagine. YOU'RE The Voice! Make noise and make it real! DONT LIVE IN SILENCE, DONT LIVE IN FEAR. Take our song and make it yours. We have always been your allies, your friends. These ideas have never mattered more...
So thx for your reaction, and pls investigate this artists work further. I think you will enjoy! Regards and respect from the great southern land...
You have to watch. When something is wrong with my baby.
Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham. Incredible.
Hey hey it’s Saturday version
John Farnham- playing to win. From the same concert. Super fun and high energy song! Best wishes from South Australia 🇦🇺
Not available on YT anymore.
@@jeffwilson7100 the one from Chain Reaction concert is still there ...
@@carolynh8866 Yep, but the MSO concert one isn't. John's performance is always outstanding, but the orchestra provides so much more depth to the music. Off topic -Having said all that, it's still his best performance of Help available. And though Steve Williams is an outstanding musician, Mark Denison's interpretation of the sax solo is far superior.
Glad u saw that ridiculous mic toss! Most miss it. Yes ive watched too many reactions to our Aussie legend. Farnesy is our music 🤴🏻
it's pretty iconic and difficult to miss
@AndreaSilvestro you'd think wouldn't you!? Haha so many completely miss it enjoying the music too much and often eyes closed. Farnesy really is an amazing entertainer
...and singer
...and bloke
@@AndreaSilvestro The toss into the air and catch is easy to miss. Most do, and the camera angle from behind at that moment makes it harder to spot. The toss across the stage gets spotted by the ones who aren't busy checking their Tinder or whatever instead of whatever video they're supposedly reacting to. You made a lot of people happy by spotting both.
Well, you made a lot of people happy with your unfeigned enthusiasm and enjoyment of the performance. Thanks for doing such a great job.
John Farnham is a vocal gymnast and a master of song, singing in over 20 genres. Many of his songs have a message for the greater good in the world. He is very charismatic, a consummate showman and has wonderful rapport with his audiences. When John sings his Soul's joy shines.
Try reacting to John singing Please Don’t Ask Me with Olivia Newton John. It is so romantic. Their chemistry is outstanding. It shows another side of John’s singing. He can sing anything.
Yes Please
He CAN sing anything. Don't forget the fantastic Sandhurst Machinery.
i'm going to do this one next!!
Any live performance of "Burn for You " would be lovely 😊❤
added to the list!!
And so funny to hear that the song writers didn't want him to record it lol.
And now they are still laughing all the way to the bank. The best decision of their lives in the end 😂😂
That was until they heard him sing it. 😊
John in his prime was a force of nature.
John is a true gentleman and consummate entertainer, who performs for the audience, not to them; he not only engages the audience, he also gives his musicians and back up singer individual credit. You definitely need to react to Amazing Grace, where he introduces Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Field(long term back up singers); Vanetta's voice is so angelic, but the combined voices are supreme ethereal.
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see new people discovering Farnsey. Great reaction, thank you 🤩
thanks for watching! means a lot
Everyone is raving about the mike toss. The truly brilliant bit is when he picks it up, WITH HIS FOOT. Now that's real skill.
Its the air throw and catch for me
He doesn't just toss and catch it. He catches it right on time with the music
Farnham is a master of his craft. So glad to see another singer appreciate him 😊
thanks so much for watching!
I would just like to congratulate you on being one of the very very few to spot the mic stand toss and catch, as WELL as the launch off into the shadow realm afterwards.
of course! i don't know how you could miss it
Many miss the throw and in time catch... I was impressed you got it too...
Great reaction Andrea, thankyou. John is so easy to listen to and watch. He has the ability to draw you in and keep you there. Here in australia, we get flooded with so many artists from America, that we often ignore or miss our own very talented, local artists. Thanks to reaction channels like yours, we are exposed to so much of our own great talent that we either never heard of, or had forgotten about. John is up there with all the American greats, if not surpassing them. ❤❤
ty for watching!
One of our unofficial national anthems🎉❤you saw the mic chuck 🎉 legend. Nothing like seeing him live in concert ❤
of course!
Our wonderful G.O.A.T. Thankyou Andrea ❤❤
thanks for watching!
John Farnham........The king of the mike stand. I was at that concert and many others when he played Melbourne, one of my fav singers of all time.
I'm glad you noticed the baton swirl of the mic stand, before he threw it across the stage; you are only one of very few reacts that had picked that up. John is renowned for playing around with the mic stand, in fact, his wife Jill has told him to stop doing it; but it wouldn't be Farnsey unless he occasionally did something with it.
I think this is one of those songs that really gets you hyped up and it never gets old. He is an incredibly talented singer, every note is spot on! Very powerful performance, got chills near the end ❤
agreed!!!
If you want to see his cheeky character on full display, he does a live duet version of his song Angels with one of his longtime backup vocalists Lisa Edwards. Its beautiful and you can see why we all love him
Watch him do “help “with the Melbourne symphony orchestra . AMAZING
Already done. That was her 1st Farnsey reaction
yes already done!
Thank you for another brilliant reaction! So glad you caught the epic mic stand toss 😂
He's such an incredible vocalist. How does he belt those high notes that I can't even do?! As a child I never realised how special and talented he was. Wasn't until I developed an interest in learning how to sing properly that I went OMG this man is something else.
His effortless stage presence is also hard to beat. And his band and backing vocalists!
His live performances all with the Melbourne symphony orchestra will not disappoint! Including his cover of AC DC's it's a long way to the top! Can't wait for you to go down the John Farnham rabbit hole ❤
Have been to several of John’s concerts and always came away with the feeling that I was part of the show not just an audience member. Got to love the man.
Every Farnsey song is a treat. And videos from the live shows are generally better than the studio recording. This is from a concert, with his backing singers, his band, and the Melbourne S. O. You'll probably have lots of titles suggested to you. He has also sung a few covers - including the Beatles'. ' Help ", a different and slower arrangement, and AC!/DC Long way to the Top. You'll see from comments that. " he can sing anything". . So enjoy this lovely man's voice and talent. May'24. UK.. E ❤
ah yes, John Farmhan aka Jonny Farnam aka Whispering Jack aka The Voice. glad to see it being given due diligence
Hi Andrea..., you're one of the 1st reactors to actually catch Farnsey's Mic Stand Toss !! - well done..!! 😍, yep - he's a dead set Aussie Legend !
He was presented the 1987 "Australian Of the Year" Award, in the presence of our Prime Minister, another Australian legend of his time Sir Bob Hawke, but that's another story.....
glad i could be the first!
A great reaction Andrea. Thank you for appreciating our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham!
Please keep going through his 6 decades of hit songs, live performances and Albums.
Perhaps try: 'You'll Never walk Alone; 'Touch of Paradise; Age of Reason; Angels; Dare to Dream; Chain Reaction; 'Reasons; Seemed like a good Idea at the time; All our Sons & Daughters; Don't let it end; Burn for You; Two Strong Hearts; Granada; It's a long way to the Top; When Something is wrong with my Baby; When the war is Over; Somewhere over the Rainbow; ..just to name a few...xoxo
Having lived in Australia for many years, I came to realise that John Farnham is the greatest singer ever, and this song is the ultimate anthem to define what peace on a world scale means. 'We're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son, how long can we look at each other, down the barrel of a gun'. No other song or singer has ever said it better or with more conviction.
Far out the best song ever to be part of! The sound levels with the musicians, backup singers and John with every single person in the audience singing along is just an unbelievable experience!! So very uplifting. I have sung along to this song live so many times and never tire of it. Perfection.
so good!!
This is an anti war anthem in Australia 🇦🇺 👏."All someone's daughter, we're all someone's son. Yet we look at each other, down the barrel of a gun." It doesn't get much more anti war than that.
It was written as an anti-war anthem after Chris Thompson missed an anti-nuclear protest.
It’s got anything to do with Australia as the comment says above Anti/nuclear March that was happening in Europe back in the 80s
One of my favourite live performances. I've watched this many times, and will many more. Great reaction too :)
Great reaction. Yes, John likes to play with the mike & stand. He seems to be unable to leave them alone, he's always fiddling.
thanks for watching!
I saw him live in the 90s. You have no idea how good he is in concert.
Plus.. your curls…. amazing! ❤
He always says that his singers make him look good.
Farnham is the king
trey!!!!!
The Man The Legend, amazing voice power and passion. This is not just a song it is an Anthem. The Australian National Anthem performed to perfection. I am Canadian and I will stand for this man singing this song. Very powerful message. LOVE IT. This will never get old.
One of John's backup singers was Venetta Fields and recommended to watch Venetta (and John) sing the traditional gospel Amazing Grace - jaw dropping.
If you would like to see the absolute true essence of Farnsey because he is more than an amazing vocalist, he is funny and kind, everyone's mate and what you see is what you get and then some.
There is an iconic Aussie TV show that run for 3 decades and it was/is Australia true and true and that is "Hey! Hey! its Saturday" .You can find it on you tube and include Johnny's name in the search as he was a regular guest. What you feel when he sings intensifies when you watch him being himself. Even though now that he is 80, Johnny's essence is still the same and I love that about him. ❤🤗
He’s 74, a year older than me.
Congratulations on being the FIRST reaction video to even notice Farnsey doing that mike stunt - NONE of the other videos I've seen have caught the first 'flip' and few have even seen the 'throw it off stage' part either. He was well known for his mike play on stage - dropping it from hand to hand mid note as he turned, throwing the stands or picking them up with his feet - must have kept the stagehands on their toes!
I've seen a few that noticed it, but not many. It really needed a better camera angle for it
glad i could be the first to notice!
Love your reaction! One of our best ever. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. This would have to be his biggest song of all, but all John’s music is epic. This and many more of John’s songs have a wonderful, positive and inspiring message that is being conveyed like only John can do. John can and has sung in most genres and is an all round great performer and is amazing live. And then there’s John’s epic mic and mic stand tricks, like in this where he throws the mic stand meters into the air and catches it while still performing, who else does that? Keep the farnsey music coming.
John is such an approachable and endearing person, that people gravitate towards him; and his innate ability to blend together vocally with other Australian and International artists. John has performed with Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow(Australia's Phantom of the Opera and other musicals), Jimmy Barnes(former lead singer of Cold Chisel), Tom Jones, and Ray Charles to name a few.
John Farnham is the GOAT.
Even Celine Dion worships him.
I’ve always loved this song.glad you also got to enjoy it
He is and always will be the greatest Australians love him i have seen him live 4 times and he is not called THE VOICE for nothing
Like Freddy Mercury, John absolutely loves his fans, the crowd and relishes being an entertainer to the masses.
If the crowd isn't happy then he isn't happy.
John recorded a song and sent it to them for permission, they loved it and were blown away by his vocals and added their own parts to it before sending it back and even tried to seriously ask him to join in 2003 as fill in for Freddy.
He turned them down sadly. But he released the song he recorded.
Decades later John and Brian stood on the same stage in 2020 for Fire Fight Australia and got to sing and perform together.
John has many BIG fans in legendary names around the globe. His name better known amongst the Musicians than the general public.
"John Farnham - Help (LIVE with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra)" from this same concert (Beatles cover).
"Please Don't Ask Me - John Farnham & Olivia Newton John" from "The Main Event" concert.
(or basically any live performance by him over the past 50+ years)
His bands warm up was Led Zeppelin Black dog and it will blow you away. Luckily a sound engineer recorded it as they didn't do it at shows. Hard to believe it's a warm up and the band is tight.
Fabulous performance and incredible voice!
thanks Joe!
There are so many great performances for you to choose from. You should watch something from a different concert next to see how dynamic just him amd his band are without the orchestra. The John Farnham Band is full of Australias (and a couple of Americans as well) top class musicians and backup vocalists.
Try something from the Chain Reaction Concert like Playing to Win, Pressure Down, Chain Reaction, Touch of Paradise, See the Banners Fall,
All our Sons and Daughters
They are all great
This is Chain Reaction from that concert
m.th-cam.com/video/xWGXmWB4tKQ/w-d-xo.html
Featuring a great harmonica solo, from Steve Williams, in it.
John always showcases one of his crew in just about every song❤❤❤
There's another great song from that concert where the whole band sings a cover of Stevie Wonders Loves in Need. "accapella"
My favourite performance of the whole show ❤❤❤m.th-cam.com/video/9m8-dc6FlCI/w-d-xo.html
The performance is spine tingling ...goosebumps all the way
This one has a bit of him talking and interacting with the audience before hand. So an opportunity to see his personality 😊
If you can find it, check out the doco Finding The Voice. Will give you a whole new appreciation.
I was excited too,. Thank you for your reaction !
Thank you for loving our John 😊
Please check out ‘When something is wrong with my baby’ John Farnham & Jimmy Barnes duet.
Hey Andrea, John can and does sing all types of music styles. Rock, ballads, musical, heavy rock, rock theatre (Jesus superstar )and more all in his uneque way and style, all very good to watch live. Good luck enjoying his music.
tysm!
The song is for any country it about everyone has a voice but with everyone you stand together and voice your problems the song tells a story about one person got a voice but a couple of million people make them heard
@9:25 He's playing with his back-ground singers. They have to keep going as long as him, so he's *really* trying to hold it longer.
John is my favorite Male Vocalist. Eivor is my favorite Female Vocalist. Have seen both live and both are epic.
Farsney went through a period where he was seen as uncool. He fixed that with the Wispering Jack album. He is a living legend of Australian music. He is “the voice”.
what an anthemn this song is! Love the range of music you react to on your channel, this was a great choice.
would love for you to react to Next Semester or Backslide the new songs from twenty one pilots.
thanks!! i love both of those songs, i did a reaction to the other single
This is Celine dions favorite song and there is a video of her on youtube singing it with john in concert in melbourne on her australian tour. She was so happy and was like a kid on christmas day,
The more I watch you the more I get you .. keep it up and great song that you sang
I am amused to see all the attention getting complaints about pausing too much to make commentary :D If people want to watch the original video uninterrupted they should go watch the original video instead of reaction videos.
A good follow-up to watch is the version of Jimmy Barnes & John Farnham - "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" on the Jimmy Barnes Official Channel.
Although John is not Scottish, it was at his insistence that bagpipes be used in the song; l have watched different concerts where they have used a keytar in place of the bagpipes, but it doesn't give the same atmosphere. I have always loved the bagpipes since a young lad, watching the local Scots Drum and Pipe march passed the front of our house; the sound of the pipes stirs the heart of a true Scotsman, I may not be full Scot but it tugs at my heart everytime I hear them.
John was influenced by AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way To The Top because that song has a bagpipe solo .
John wanted the song to be more epic than the songwriters demo which has a normal guitar solo
When The War Is Over is also an epic song of his. To go further Burn For You or Touch Of Paradise if you want sweet. If you want more rock like this got so much: That's Freedom, Two Strong Hearts, Playing To Win, Age Of Reason, Pressure Down, Long Way To The Top. Just get his whole discography. There is a reason he is called The Voice because he is.
This concert was 1 1/2 hrs. long. He gets better. The orchestra give him an ovation with their instruments. Pity Youyube has split it up. I used to watch/listen to in whole. Believe me gets better. See his version of the Beatle's "Help". after an hour of singing. His greatest performance. Sadly he's had throat and mouth cancer, 26 surgeons working for 12 hours to help our beloved " Voice". We may never hear those pipes again but he's made his mark and is riding his horses on his farm and healing. He comes from my town and I know he's a fun, gentleman and a good generous guy.
"Something is wrong with my baby" Official music video with John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes is the best! You need to watch it
Playing To Win
One in a billon singers ❤ this song became a mega hit world wide. Still relevant today. Hopefully music can save us all from the madness mankind creates. This is a anthem to the world ❤
There’s not much he can’t sing, the AC/DC cover its a long way to the top from the this concert is in your own word epic. Now you why us Aussies love our John Farnham as his not only a great singer but a very down to earth person.
John Farnham singing.
Amazing grace.
Gee Andrea , you're Really exited about this amazing
performance , but how could you not be , great songwriting .
I thought that if WE all believed in the power of music and positivity
us and songs like this could actually make some kind of difference .
but , seems I'm dreaming in the meantime just love when we can .
Glad you like him . a very important song . (says I).
Check out John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes together they are brilliant
1 of the best singers ever. skillfully and smartly let the audience take 1 or 2 bits to keep his powder dry( give him a rest)
He also uses the audience when he forgets the words, which he's notorious for.
@@elizabethscott7660 oh come on thats not in my experience , he was a class act performer. you really think he forgot the words, cant agree
Now I would recommend his cover of AC/DC's Long Way To The Top, from this same concert.
High energy and the whole MSO get into it, especially the violinists.
The smile on the conductors face is pure joy
Please react to playing to win by John. It's a fantastic song.
Loved your reaction to the mic stand toss :D
thanks!!
You missed the bagpiper’s salute and John’s returned salute.
Your voice and style from the bit I heard is so very similar to Missy Higgins. If any of your Australian supporters asks for that request you should take it. She has won many, a dozen? industry awards for her music and performances and she seems like a wonderful person.
Awesome koOl reaction lady from Oz / Australia.
Check out all live performances from John.
Long way to the top from this concert is the most joyful performance in music history.
Then any live version (my favourite is 1991 from the aria awards) of when something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes
Another Aussie legend is guitarist Tommy Emmanuel with classical gas
He is a really funny and Nice Guy
If you listen to and understand the lyrics, it's an important song for the whole world. At the time the Vietnam War was still happening. He is saying if the people unite and and speak out, they can change anything. It's people power - "You're the voice, try and understand it, make a noise and make it clear". If you know anything about the history of Scotland and the use of the pipes, you will understand how much power the piper adds to the song (athough, the pipes might resonate with you anyway) 🙂 John has a vocal range of A2 to G5. He can sing anything.
Jimmy Barnes is another Australian singer and legend, and Luke John has been around for 50 years +. Could you please react to Jimmy Barnes singing Stone Cold featuring Joe Bonamassa.
The man, the myth, the legend that is farnsy from sadie to hes days of being broke with only a handful believing in hes skill, having a mortgage taken out to make this album to literally having hes entire song sang at him without prompting the crowd.
Hes even recently battles mouth cancer and won. To now her someone so cherished by Australia that hes reached Steve Irwin level of Aussie protection 😄
I think you should check out at the same concert, "It's a long way to the top". John probably does a better job at singing this song than
AC DC.
You will absolutely love a group called George, the song Spawn is amazing. Your clip at the start totally reminded me of them, plus they're also an Aussie band.
For a totally different style, listen to, and watch, John singing 'Granada' with Australian opera singer Anthony Warlow. You'll see an older John, and hear his speaking voice, and his jokes. Definitely worth watching
The 80's... when you could throw a mic stand because not everyone was passive aggressive! 🤣
Watch Jimmy Barnes live, he’s an Australian singer that pours everything he has into his performances. Great to watch, maybe in his cold chisel days?
It’s hard to imagine Farnham going unplugged. It’s like he needs an orchestra to compete with.
John Farnham also sang the part of Jesus in,
The musical, Jesus Christ super star.
Another incredible performance .
She may be too young for that request unless she loves rock musicals. And it’s not good to hear a reaction from someone who doesn’t know the rock opera. But yeah, he’s my fav Jesus for sure.
John singing live with his backing vocalist Lisa Edward’s called Angels in 2000 is a good one, shows his larrikin side.
Wish people would stop recommending this version of Angels. In 2024, to people who aren't boomers, middle-aged men joking about viagra and making hubba-hubba sounds to the woman they're working with is not "larrikinism". I love John, and I understand that things used to be different - I certainly don't hold any of this stuff against him - but it's pretty cringy to watch, and probably not the best way to get a young woman to admire him. There is a perfectly good version of Angels without all of that stuff: th-cam.com/video/egjRlSAtV-w/w-d-xo.html
Oh you have gone down the Barnsley rabbit hole enjoy the ride
G'day.. Thank you.
Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner singing.
Simply the Best.
Will not disappointment you.
National treasure 🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲
