We can still get Castrol CRB straight weight SAE40 in the states, although Delo-100 is easier to find in sae-40. Like anything else you’d have to order an awful lot to make shipping worth it but if the need should arise you can probably get it from a supplier in southern CA to save a little money….calling on the phone will be your best bet there.
One of two stroke Detroit’s good points is you can just wind them over and they will start. No bleeding pumps or lines or special techniques. Brilliantly designed engines.
Hey Jake ,good work on getting the Kenny going ready for the truck show ,as long as it’s mechanically sound and safe to drive and you get your roadworthy ticket work it and tidy it up as you go ,some times it can be a chore doing it all at once, happy to see any video you make ,always good entertainment, thanks for taking your time to do it
Mate, love how you’ve brought the Kenny alive again, it’s sounds and looks amazing. It looks fantastic with its patina and history written all over it. Personally I would tidy the chassis up a little, get it roadworthy and reliable and maybe run it on historic rego to help keep the costs down? Love it, keep up the great work. Maybe drive it back to Gregory’s and take who used to drive it for them for another spin and bring back some memories!
Thanks mate I like the patina aswell I don’t want to paint the cab and bunk, I’m still undecided on the rego I’d like to go historic rego but it really limits me being able to make money with the truck. I will take him for a drive I promised I would once it’s running!
SUPER EPIC…..She is Gorgeous Jake….Well done on your rebuild. You can’t beat the old school trucks… they look, sound and feel to drive like nothing else…👍👍👍
No wonder the old truckies back in the day went deaf, what a sick exhaust note! And those Jakes! 😍 brilliant work, Jake, top effort! Must feel great to have the old girl out and singing at the top of her lungs!
You’ve done a hell of a job mate! I’d put twin stacks on it with clappers then get it roadworthy so you can enjoy it more. Then worry about how it looks! Either way do what you feel is right. I’m keen to see more videos!
Well done Jake and your Dad as well, what would we do without our Dads. I turned my volume flat out and went for a great drive with you.... Oh the memories Cheers Mick
Hey Jake lovin the W Model I reckon add another stack new bumper, give the cab & sleeper a polish & get her Registered & start making some $$$ with it. Worry about everything else later on.👍👍
Sounds like a great plan mate! All I’m really worried about is water in the cab and things that will leave me stuck on the side of the road! And twin stacks😂
Well done Jake what a smile on the test drive it's yours and you can do what ya want me get her road worthy and working make some bucks for your next project would love to see the needle nose in the shed that would be awesome to see running great channel keep going
Thanks mate I think that’s the general consensus is to just get it roadworthy and paint a few things a long the way so I don’t think I’ll drag it out too much but I’ll make it right as I go, thanks for watching mate👌🏻
Wow just wow, Jake keep up the great work. I think fix the major bits like cab and sleeper and boot, plus tidy up inside and chassic, Get road worthy and get the coal rolling and earning some money so you can get the needle nose going and the other what 5 or 9 or 12 or 24 plus other KWs and other projects you want to do. All in all do what rolls the coal for you. Looking forward to the next installment. From kiwi land.
Out of all the cylinder configurations of the Detroit engines, the 6V sounds the best! The 8V is nice but sounds a bit more restrained, the 3 and 4 cylinder motors have very raspy exhaust notes, the 12 and 16V are on the smooth end of the sound scale but all unique in their own right.
Wow that sounds sick Jake well done all that hard work is paying off,imo just get the road worthy done but at least paint the rear rims lol. Drive it earn some cash and enjoy mate the smile on ya dial was worth it 🍻
Go all out mate you have done a great job up date and you will enjoy it too and when you get a lot older you will have it to look back on be so proud, I've done it with vintage tractors 🚜 and they have been the best times of my life, keep up the good work you are preserving history. Good luck mate. Regards Geoff. C
Another awesome video Jake cant beat the smile on your face when you are giving it a rev up in the shed at 39:35 and your old man giving you the hand singles saying that's enough haha! I would personally do what is required to get the roadworthy done and a nice period correct dual stack set up the bunk boot, front sleeper panel, cab corner rust and any other bits and pieces that need doing so it can be out in the rain without it getting any worse and save your money for a full resto on another one of your trucks its in to good of original condition to cover all that history up but either way keep the videos coming 👍
You have come so far my dude and have done a bang up job! My advice would be to strip it back, change out all the bags, hoses, wires etc. Then it's just cosmetics (chrome and lights would be me, but you do you hahahaha). Also, me personally, I would get some nice strps/boxes for under the cab doors and move those tanks back. You make it look great while still working it my dude. I look forward to see where you take it.I'd swap out that shifter, for something a little more modern too, but again, that would be up to you.
Great job on the Kenny BTW! I would like to see the rust fixed and the boot sealed from the elements at least but I would definitely watch any other truck as well.
Well done - always good to have a truck show as a deadline! Chip away at the smaller jobs, get it roadworthy first and use it a bit to shake it down some more as there will no doubt be a few more jobs you'll discover before doing the full cosmetic!
Brings back the best memories, I look back and think it was the most profitable truck I owned……and without a doubt the best sounding. And really enjoying the thorough way you go about things, awesome 👍👍👍
Me again why not put it back to what you want and need. You drive trucks? It will fit what ever you want I think you have a great way of explaining things keep it simple.😎🇦🇺👍
good to see another young fella getting into the old girls. i've always wanted one of these since i was 12 and my grand father rocked up in one. hopefully get one some day haha. truly jealous!
Gday Jake, absolutely shit hot, it sounds sweet and looks awesome, personally I reckon paint the spiders on the drive, different bumper, quick lick of paint on the rails and bloody enjoy it for a while and start to make it earn its keep, then when you know it’s right to a full stick restoration, this is a credit to you mate, you’ve done a bloody awesome job, cheers
Hey Matty thankyou! Appreciate the advice that seems to be the general opinion from everyone in the comments so I’m keen to keep moving forward with it! Thanks for watching!
Get it road worthy and start doing the whole thing that needs done after September. That way you can enjoy it and find out what you like and what you don't like and change that when you have it apart. We had ideas for the house we bought but after moving in and living there it developed totally different so go out and use it and you'll find your way.
Thanks Ard that makes sense I like that idea cause there’s nothing worse than having to change things after you think your done so your right once I drive it abit my ideas will probably change!
Well done Jake great job a lot of work goes into a project like that, your steering should come right once you get good solid fluid to the pump ,sometimes i have had to remove the pipe and fill with oil and connect up quickly, then adjust your steering stops on the box lock to lock, should have clearance on axle stops about 1/8 inch, on hard lock, im sure you will get it good, cheers mate 😊
Theres nothing to match the sound of a Jimmy powering and using the jakes, awesum sound.Excellent job mate, look forward to your next project or projects.
Pull tanks paint frame new lines and gear. So you can use it soon . Do bunk and cab over winter when you have more time. Bunk seal can be replaced now too
Hi from France, congratulations, mate epic.Couldn't help notice that smile on your face on that test drive.Haven't the trucks changed over the past forty years, mate i feel like a dinosaure, here manual gearbox's no longer exist, the little truck i have on local work here has 460 hp,12 speed auto gearbox, more electronics than a russian trawler,i must have started as a driver in Melbourne in about 1980 and that W-Model was a high end truck (well the Aerodyne Cabovers were the cream of the crop)you'd go out do your drops,do your pick-ups,tarp/un tarp about four times a day (rain, haul or shine) they were long days, heaven forbid if you lost some paper work.I had a mate who drove a W-Model back then, had a 450 big cam cummins,it used to fly.I'd love to know the fuel consumption of that little 692 (number of the contract i work on 8692),you'll probably go through more oil than diesel if my memory serves me correctly.Great chanel.
Hey mate good to see you in the comments as always👌🏻 it’s hard not to crack a smile driving this thing, they sure have changed the new trucks are comfortable but they don’t have anywhere near as much character or as fun as these old bangers, and all the electronics on new stuff is not for me way too much of a headache! I can imagine all the kenworths back then would have been under 10 years old everything would feel new still and driving past bedfords and R190s on the highway in a big truck would have been awesome! Once I get to drive it abit ill let you know what the fuel consumption is im interested to see how it compares to my scania 112. That’s a good contract number what a coincidence! I was also surprised to read in the Detroit manual the acceptable oil consumption per day it was quite high from memory! Cheers mate
Hi Jake.. loved it mate .. congratulations what an awesome job you have done.. I reckon just clean it all up, take out the rust, polish the cab (inside) and make it like new then put the old girl to work mate, she will love it, and so will you👊🏻
Great job mate , I’d personally fix the rust on the cab and sleeper while getting everything fixed up for roady and spray the rest later on once you have broken the motor in and enjoyed it .
Yeah jake up to you but not bad idea to treat it as work in progress and drive the engine for few months earn some money with it and then strip off sleeper and rear guards and wheels and any other easy removable stuffs, cover up engine and bay with blankets and mask it off then sand blast the rear of chassis paint it , sand fuel tanks and polishing or wrap in stainless if you can , love how it coming along jake , quicker than most
The day we've all been waiting for! Bet your neighbours love the Jakes 😁 It's got to be painted that chassis and the rear wheel buds, polish the tanks and a flapper on the exhaust. But I'll wait and watch progress on the needle nose!
Thanks mate! One of my neighbours will chime into the comments here I’d say😂 I reckon he likes them as long as I don’t come home too late! Dual stacks with flappers now your talking👌🏻🥵
Great work dude.. I would clean it,get it road worthy, shake it down a bit and work it. Full blown restorations are a waste of money and time if you plan to work that truck.
Your the one forking out the coin Jake for this lovely old girl get it rego'd and shake ìt down with a load behind her and smòothe out the wrinkles as the saying goes " I didn't build it for your approval " ......get some $$$$$$ and do the tidy up as your time and money see fit , great work getting her this far she's definitely in the right place now.😊
Hi jake , once again taught this old dog new tricks clutch adjustment and what to look for thanks jake ,, i,m more your painter welder guy, but i,m fairly mechanical minded and as you see love learning shit i don't know much about ,,,, mate ive just got back my 2nd roadboss chassis from sand blasters and rubbed down friday to paint this week, its in primer but only hours away from painting, its very bare just diffs and front axle steer box / gear, and i will assemble some parts before painting and paint rest individually to get best results, Red is the colour just looks neat as pin in red, Sounds like she runs very smooth, lol water leak on water pump ,, had same problem on 3406 i had but some how it just sorted it self and stopped leaking after i bought brand new cat water pump, unreal ,,, and they anit cheap
Thanks mate! It’s good to know if you ever have to do do one! That’s awesome it will come up a treat once it’s all painted it’s a good feeling putting things back together, everything you bolt on is a step closer to being finished! I couldn’t believe the water pump started leaking and then it took up after pouring water out all day! I’m still going to get a kit and put it through the pump to make sure it’s good to go, I can imagine nothing about cat is cheap….
You may want to consider creating a downloadable file of that 'NOISE' it would make a great ringtone. There is a large American market of Truckers who would love it ! $$
Well done Jake! That 6V92 Detroit is just pure music, love it! I assume this one's got a 13 speed Eaton Fuller, right? Now that it's running, I'd love some super long unedited ASMR style driving videos of it out on the road with a load behind it! Don't forget about engine startup at the beginning and engine shutdown at the end. And speaking of ASMR's, have you done my requested ASMR on the K108? If so, when will that be up? Please let me know ASAP.
Hey mate thanks for watching! Yep this is a 13 speed, I’m definitly going to do some longer driving videos! And I do apologise I havnt been in the 108 lately so I havnt had a chance to do that one for you, but I’ll make sure I take a vid when I’m in it next for you!
Such a cool truck and sounds amazing especially with the jakes! Love all your stuff so far, its nice to see a bit of variety so yeah maybe do a bit on the needlenose then keep chipping away at this one too
Thanks mate! I’ll keep chipping away at this till it’s roadworthy and in the mean time might play around with the needle nose I’ve got a few other videos coming up on some machinery too
Yeah I won’t lie, I was quite jealous watching you thrash it up and down the track 🤣 All in good time. Probably makes sense to get the rest of that frame painted and right now you’ve gone this far, there’s no point fighting new airbags etc in there as it is, you’ll be kicking yourself after a few weeks of looking at it
lot of work for a young fella great work ethics, you did a hell of a job that smile says it all MATE ,with Dads help too
Thanks mate appreciate it, it’s hard not to smile after working on it for ages and finally getting to drive it!
Just came across your channel mate watching from Scotland doing great keep them coming
She sounds amazing

Thanks mate I’ll see what I get locally, hopefully I should be able to find somthing around here!
Cheers
One of two stroke Detroit’s good points is you can just wind them over and they will start. No bleeding pumps or lines or special techniques. Brilliantly designed engines.
This one starts great, I’ve only got one battery in it and it winds over very slow and still fires up straight away!
One he'll of a job wel done thank you from the State's all the way from North East Arkansas keep the videos coming

You can’t beat the old school trucks… they look, sound and feel to drive like nothing else…👍👍👍
I agree I love all the old gear! It’s so enjoyable to drive and operate thanks for watching.
Defiantly get it road worthy and show us the work u do with it
Get it on the road and enjoy it mate be nice to see it earning a living
No wonder the old truckies back in the day went deaf, what a sick exhaust note! And those Jakes! 😍 brilliant work, Jake, top effort! Must feel great to have the old girl out and singing at the top of her lungs!
I'm one of those old truckies , and yes they are deafening. They don't call them the " screaming Demon " for nothing lol
It sure does I’m super happy I’ve got to drive it! The worst thing in it has to go back under the knife for more repairs and I want to drive it😂
ahh the GM music maker, great job on get the KW up and rolling 👌🎶
You’ve done a hell of a job mate! I’d put twin stacks on it with clappers then get it roadworthy so you can enjoy it more. Then worry about how it looks! Either way do what you feel is right. I’m keen to see more videos!
Thanks for watching mate, don’t worry still plenty more videos to come!
I do not know what you should do first, but i do Love the Paint Scheme on that beauty.
Well done Jake and your Dad as well, what would we do without our Dads. I turned my volume flat out and went for a great drive with you.... Oh the memories Cheers Mick
Cheers Mick! Wouldn’t know anything without him that’s for sure! Glad you enjoyed the ride along!
This young bloke is good.. can learn a lot from him 👍
Cheers thanks mate!
Bad aSS truck! Love the looks of the old KW's.
The 6-V 92 is a sweet running little motor. She was smooth as butter when you tickled the accelerator pedal
Great to see this come alive again. Sounds on point too!

Looking forward to the next installment.
From kiwi land.
Well done Jake I really enjoyed the series on this truck would be good to see it polished up and towing a trailer
Thanks mate I’ll get it hooked up to a trailer in the next couple of vids I reckon! I agree it needs some shiny bits on it👌🏻
Out of all the cylinder configurations of the Detroit engines, the 6V sounds the best! The 8V is nice but sounds a bit more restrained, the 3 and 4 cylinder motors have very raspy exhaust notes, the 12 and 16V are on the smooth end of the sound scale but all unique in their own right.

Do what ya want with it mate, it's your's ! good video even with the fingers😉
Thanks mate! The fingers add some realism to the video👌🏻😂
She sounds great Jake, done a great job getting all ready 👍
Cheers thanks mate!
Another awesome video Jake cant beat the smile on your face when you are giving it a rev up in the shed at 39:35 and your old man giving you the hand singles saying that's enough haha! Thankyou! I’m definitly going to do the boot either way because I don’t want water getting in the cab! Thanks for watching👌🏻
Probably should get the sleeper and boot repaired. Nice video!
Chunky steer tyres Jake great job mate 👍👍
top job jake ,run an use it an enjoy ,it will get better by the mile, great series
Killing it Jake well done young man. 🏆
Well done Jake, good work so far and plenty you can keep doing, as they say in the oilfield, if there’s no oil under it there’s no oil in it😂
Omg absolutely magic to my ears and listen to them Jake brakes oh my wow
Well done - always good to have a truck show as a deadline! Chip away at the smaller jobs, get it roadworthy first and use it a bit to shake it down some more as there will no doubt be a few more jobs you'll discover before doing the full cosmetic!
Thanks mate it made it feel like an achievement having it ready in time haha thanks for watching!
That KW looks great😇

And perfectly acceptable to do so, the difference between an operator and a gonk!👍
Hi jake good to see it up an going do what you want to it as it suit your needs . Cheers mate
Needs a full refurb mate ! We will love it !
Full marks getting the big girl rolling Jake, you have some skills for a young fella. I'd get a roady and drive it as is for a while if it was mine.
Mean as mate, I hope your neighbours appreciate the sound of that jimmy and the jakes!, brings back lots of memories keep em coming cobber!.
I know one Neighbour does he will be watching😂 the other not so much so have to be a little quiet to keep the peace
Well done, looks like your you are really enjoying it. Cant beat the sound of a two stroke Detriot on the Jakes.
Keep up the good content.
I’ll watch anything u do. Keep it up
Good work man hopefully see ya in September in Richmond I’ll have my K125 there for the first time 👍👍
Hopefully I’ll see you there!
The greatest noise you've ever heard! Very nice work Jake, go for road worthy and work it.
Woohoo ! There it is !
Excellent Jake !
Cheers, Ard
Get it road worthy and start doing the whole thing that needs done after September. That way you can enjoy it and find out what you like and what you don't like and change that when you have it apart.
We had ideas for the house we bought but after moving in and living there it developed totally different so go out and use it and you'll find your way.
Thanks Ard that makes sense I like that idea cause there’s nothing worse than having to change things after you think your done so your right once I drive it abit my ideas will probably change!
Road worthy, and enjoy it,

Clean the cab up Jake, I’d keep it as is and keep the patina.
All the best with which ever way you go. 👍
Great job Jake. Well done. I'm happy to watch anything you do with old trucks and equipment. Enjoy your videos, your a good lad. All the best.
Hey Dave thanks for the support appreciate it!

A lot of hard work gone into the this truck nice work mate and great to hear it run
Yes!!! Sounds so good !

Holy shit mate that thing sounds bloody fantastic, what an animal. That work was worth it!
Thanks mate I reckon it sounds awesome aswell, worth all the long hours for sure!
Great work dude.. I would clean it,get it road worthy, shake it down a bit and work it. Full blown restorations are a waste of money and time if you plan to work that truck.

" I didn't build it for your approval " ......get some $$$$$$ and do the tidy up as your time and money see fit , great work getting her this far she's definitely in the right place now.😊
Well done, great job loved the sounds of the motor and Jake's.

Great job. I’m happy to see you use it a bit. Look forward to seeing the grey one too!
Thanks for watching mate! Yep it needs some love I think the grey ones been neglected for a long time
Hi jake , once again taught this old dog new tricks clutch adjustment and what to look for thanks jake ,, i,m more your painter welder guy, but i,m fairly mechanical minded and as you see love learning shit i don't know much about ,,,, mate ive just got back my 2nd roadboss chassis from sand blasters and rubbed down friday to paint this week, its in primer but only hours away from painting, its very bare just diffs and front axle steer box / gear, and i will assemble some parts before painting and paint rest individually to get best results, Red is the colour just looks neat as pin in red,
Sounds like she runs very smooth, lol water leak on water pump ,, had same problem on 3406 i had but some how it just sorted it self and stopped leaking after i bought brand new cat water pump, unreal ,,, and they anit cheap
Mate great job
I’d put square tanks on Texan bar duel exhaust make the truck a credit to you as it already is
Thanks mate appreciate it!
GOOD ON YA JAKE good ta see ya got there Bloody rippa no Anti freeze In Aussie Aye specially where we live lucky to get rain
Thanks for watching mate! It’s actually been a very wet summer down here it seems like it’s raining every week at the minute
You may want to consider creating a downloadable file of that 'NOISE' it would make a great ringtone. There is a large American market of Truckers who would love it ! $$
That’s a good idea I’d have it as a ring tone or alarm clock👌🏻
Shit got mate awesome job far hope to see more of it, daul pipes n roo bar set it off mint
just send it enjoy
@@dieseldownunder. Awesome Jake, can't wait!!! Also looking forward to more longer driving videos on the W925, that thing's a monster!
Just do what you need to get her roadworthy, looks wicked the way it is & imagine all those extra dollars you’ll still have in your back pocket.
Such a cool truck and sounds amazing especially with the jakes!
Love all your stuff so far, its nice to see a bit of variety so yeah maybe do a bit on the needlenose then keep chipping away at this one too
Thanks mate I reckon it sounds great aswell! I’m keen to get the needle nose in the shed it deserves some love!
Its a credit to you mate, youve done a bloody excellent job, well done,so whats next on the agenda ???
Thanks mate! I’ll keep chipping away at this till it’s roadworthy and in the mean time might play around with the needle nose I’ve got a few other videos coming up on some machinery too
2 stacks, 6 inch 4 foot tall, tall intakes, more fuel tanks, bullbar and paint those purple hubs red. Then drive it.
It really looks the goods are ya gunna leave the signage on it does look good with it you,v done TOP JOB JAKE CHEERS
Yep I’ll leave the sign writing on it I may change it to my name or the channel name but in the same style as this so it looks old school still
Great to see the old girl running, looked like you were having plenty of fun there 🤣 - dual straight pipes next 😉
It’s hard not to have fun in this thing it’s a blast! Yep it doesn’t look right with 1 stack so another stack and a new bumper is high on the list
Yeah I won’t lie, I was quite jealous watching you thrash it up and down the track 🤣
All in good time. Probably makes sense to get the rest of that frame painted and right now you’ve gone this far, there’s no point fighting new airbags etc in there as it is, you’ll be kicking yourself after a few weeks of looking at it
