Good one mate Keep up the good work
Keep on at it Jake, will be a new old stock when your finished 👍🏻
Thanks mate slowly but surely!
👍👍
Nice video keep keep going
Hey Jake, thanks for the great video, any progress is good, can be a bit hard when you have to work full time ,but getting the Kenny up to scratch will be worth the effort 🇦🇺🇮🇹👍😎
Thanks mate! Do you live in Italy?
I always knew it was going to be hard making videos and working but making the videos gives me more encouragement to work on them so it’s well worth it!
@@dieseldownunder.Hey Jake,no i live in Tassie but my Dad was from Italy,we travel there to see our family, lots of trucks there but never ever seen an American style truck yet,🇦🇺🇮🇹
Matty's Workshop sent me over. Looks good Jake!
Hey mate thanks for coming to checkout the channel!
Great stuff as usual
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a Vickers pump. They should be able to put new veins in it and she'll be good as new. It's amazing how little rust is on that truck. If it were here, it would probably crumble when you took it apart. Lol
Yep it is a bickers v20 very common but many different variations, yep it’s a super clean I guess it helps not having salt on the roads at all here it really be if it’s the trucks long term
Matty sent us here and have binge watched this project, totally enjoyed it so far and cant wait for more, will def check all ur other vids
Hey mate thanks for coming to check the channel out! Glad your enjoying it! There is plenty more to come
Cheers
Can't wait to the paint stage chassis
Everyday’s a school day Jake, I always wondered about how they got a good seal between cab and sleeper, we don’t have that set up here, just forward control cabs, or cab over if your in the states. The hole looks plenty big enough to get through, keeping it that size might help with noise reduction when you’re working her🤙🏻 I’ve got that type of plastic roof lining in my ERF, your W model has got ten years on ours, but mines just as brittle, the plastic must deteriorate over time. Tell you what the mixing of metals is the worst problem we have over here, dissimilar metals corroded together is the biggest cause of aggro😂 from wheels to compressor heads, it turns into a nightmare🙈😁 great video as always mate👍🏻 watching your weekly updates have become my Sunday morning tradition😎 can’t wait to see her sweating with some weight on Jake🤙🏻🤙🏻🚛💨💨💨💨
Hey mate, that's it Europeans don't know what a sleeper boot is, probably a smart decision really.
Definitly the plastic doesn't last you can just imagine what todays plastic trucks will look like when they are this old there won't be much left of them!
I can imagine do you have salt on your roads in winter? if so that would be shocking it would test my patience I reckon.
glad your enjoying them mate nothing like waking up on a Sunday morning and sitting on the couch in front of the tv for a few hours.
cheers mate!
@@dieseldownunder. oh yes we have salt🙈😂 luckily it’s being a mild winter so the rain has washed most of the salt away now, but we’ll have more before spring. I don’t take my truck out between November/end of March usually. Just takes too much cleaning after a run.
Yeah I don’t think any trucks on the road will see 40/50 years, too much electrical nonsense to go wrong, you can pay 4k for a gearbox ECU, not exactly a weekend toy at that money😂
Yes Jake I really enjoy watching your videos! Sunday morning with a cuppa watching with my doggos👍🏻
Jake I hope you are checking for rust jacking around the rails for the fifth wheel, turntable as you called it, also I hope when you tear down the rears for maintenance and paint that you prime and paint the pads for the airbags otherwise you missed an opportunity. Great progress and looking forward to seeing this girl under load.
Thanks mate! As this is a single rail chassis and not double the frame condition is excellent so no need to worry about that! I’m going to fit all the air bags for now so I can pull a trailer without having them blow out and I may remove them when I paint to so the mounts get painted aswell
Cheers
Gday Jake, it’ll be good once the pumps done up, they were thinking outside the box using the lay flat hose for the bunk sock, hopefully the week goes well and you can put a decent load on it and see how it goes mate, top job, cheers
Hey Matty I'm pretty positive it will fix it, yep you've gotta use what you have and it obviously worked so can't knock it. Im super keen to get a trailer on behind it.
thanks for tuning in!
The Name on the door bloke must smiling seeing all youre doing young fellah.
I spoke to him this week and he said he looks forward to watching every Sunday so I think he’s enjoying it!
Looking forward to the full fleet photo, All the KWs lined up in oldest to youngest😂, You are going to have a amazing KW collection.
From kiwi land.
That's a good point I've been meaning to do that as I've never had them all side by side, I am building another shed to line them all up in so when I move them around ill get some good pics of them all together!
cheers mate
Hello from the UK. Only just subscribed to your channel and binged watched the play list for this KW.
Hey mate hope you enjoyed watching the old w model come back to life! Plenty more to come
@dieseldownunder. I will sure watch them. I've started to watch the KW with the cumins v8.
@@jasonlefley2117 after I get this truck roadworthy there will be more on that truck I have a good engine to swap in and it will be getting stripped right down and a full resto done
I know nothing about trucks but i love you'r attitude. Plus your truck sounds sooooo good
Thanks for watching mate, glad you find it entertaining. That's for sure you can't beat the sound of a 2 stroke Detroit!
👍🇦🇺
I was forced to use lay flat hose on an 87 g.m.c. for the sleeper boot. Thought i was the only person to ever do that. ! Gotta do with, with what you have to do with. Great content. Stay with it. Hello from the states. !
Haha there you go, you're not alone in your thinking then. If it works it works hey! thanks for watching mate!
Looking forward to the paint, then the inside next!
I can’t wait to clean the inside and put a new mattress and bed sheets in it!
I'm very tempted to suggest finding a much bigger sleeper -but then we never had them out here in '73. Be great to travel about with more than a tiny bed on board. You're doing a great job!
I’d love to put a big bunk on it! I’ll keep this one the way it is, but one day I’m going to build a truck exactly how I want it, big engine big bunk somthing really cool and different
Nice work mate, enjoying the build
Thanks for following along mate!
Sleeper boot is what we call those in the states. If I remember correctly you can get it in however long you need it. And everyone I’ve seen on you tube says it’s a pain in the behind to replace. But you seem to make everything look easy. That headliner looks pretty rough. Hopefully you can get another one in better shape. I imagine you guys higher temps don’t help things made mostly out of plastic last longer. Hope they get the pump right for you. Glad to see another video have a good day or night I’m not sure of the time change
I have seen some sold by the foot advertised online! The annoying thing is because the bunk hole and cab hole arnt factory they don’t have the rolled edge to hold the rubber boot on but I think I have a solution for that
Yeah the headliners don’t seem too last too long the heat could be the cause of that like you say…. Luckily we can still buy new roof linings from kenworth so I have a new one ready to go
Thanks for watching mate it’s lunch time Sunday here👍🏻
@@dieseldownunder. Cool that should be interesting to watch. Good deal you can still get a new headliner from Kenworth , hope it doesn’t break the bank too badly. So you’re are roughly a day different from here. Have a great afternoon
The Day Cab Company in the states remake kenworth/peterbilt interior I follow Twin Sticks Garage he did a snowman W model restoration and is starting on his 359 peterbilt now, he just fitted a Big Hole Conversion Kit by The Truck Shroud Company in the states, he’s from Canada if you wondered, check him out if you want 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Keep up the good work Jake I would love to see that beast at Yarra Glen this year.
I would like to think it would be on the road by then so I should be able to bring it for a run! remind me when it gets closer and ill be there.
Cheers
@@dieseldownunder. Sure will.
When I started there were no bunks. A Commer Knocker with a pillow. Pull up, take 2 pills, put the pillow over the steering wheel and get 40 minutes sleep before the pills kicked in and drive on! Crazy.
That’s real trucking mate! It would have been tough back then! Awesome experience to have a lot of people today couldn’t handle that
Good work mate. The rubber can be bought from kenworth for the bunk would hate to see the price though.
thanks mate they are pricey at kenworth I would go that way but because this isn't a factory hole there is no rolled edge on the wall or bunk as that's what the kenworth rubber attaches to
Are you going to put the cab and bunk on its own airbag rails???
Not on this truck at this stage I'm going to do bunk and cab on rails on my other one I reckon.
Supposedly "the day cab company" makes w900a replacement headliners but they only come in black and not the off white they originally came in
I'd hate to see the price of shipping a box that size to Australia! you can still buy them from kenworth I have a brand new one in the box ready to go, they are only available in black and the have the radio shelf in them online the original but other than that they are the same
Sorry I wasn't first in the viewing I was watching a live stream from hodgepodge Dodge garage
All good mate your always here, and it’s always good to hear from you!
Cheers
Mate had his fridge behind his head hit a Bullock fucked truck broke his neck fridge rocket forward good law about restraints in cab but yeah what eva rocks ya boat Nuda good one JAKE keep on keeping on
Not ideal mate! anything in the cab becomes lethal during a crash!thanks for watching mate.
Glad im not paying for the parts. Cars are bad enough!!
Tell me about it! 8x airbags were $1540 and that was with a discount!
