LOL no. This game won't even be close to the best one yet. Ubisoft will never make another Assassin's Creed game that turns out better than the Ezio triology. Odyssey won't even be better than Origins, no way it comes close to the others like the Ezio games, which in my opinion are the best in the franchise.

I love Ancient Greece. It’s my all time favorite period in history. I know I’ll have so much fun playing this game just because of that, I mean, I’ve been wishing for a Greece game from assassins creed for years, but hopefully it’s not a piece of shit lol. I really wish they would’ve made a new engine and not just copied a lot of origins
You can't expect them to make a whole new engine every time they release a game. I think there are sufficient differences here, mostly with the RPG aspects, to make it stand on its own. Here's hoping it does, and it doesn't turn into Unity 2.0.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it is essentially origins in every way. The setting, characters, skills and afew animations here and there are different but apart from that, it'll play exactly like origins.
Mack King different map and navel combat changed gear system and the combat is changed up a bit the abilities are diiferent and it lets u make dessions which afect the story

Ancient Greece is one of my favorite timelines in human history. But i do feel like Assassins Creed is suffering from an identity crisis. I would've preferred to see a Bayek sequel set in Ancient Greece. Also the relation with Bayek and Senu felt special, Bayek loved Senu and Senu felt like a real character. Controlling your eagle in Odyssey is kind of disappointing. Still looking forward to it, i'm biased when it comes to Ancient Greece.

Bad Things:
-I don't think you can front kick a guy in armor to make him fly 25 meters far. I'm just saying.

No but Assassin's Creed made sense in its own universe. But since 2012 (technically 2009 lol) it slowly started to give up on its own universe and to transform its rules. That bothers me if I want to play an AC game. If I want to play a game I've never played before I don't mind pushing a guy over 20 meters (Batman for instance) but when a series I've been playing for over 10 years acts with a vastly different set of rules, I have trouble calling it a "series". At this point it has become something that probably will produce good games but games that make no sense as an AC. I think the problem is that the producers don't know what made their game(s) good (originally) so they rely on what works in other games and what they assume works in their own. But what works with a game doesn't necessarily in an other ; it's a real lack of perspective. The real problem with AC is consistency. What is Assassin's Creed ? Is it about the creed ? Is it about assassins ? the hidden blade ? parkour ? fighting ? the precursors ? the pieces of eden ? desmond ? history ? modern world ? the apocalypse ? preventing the apocalypse ? the fight between templars and assassins ? boats ? is it a linear story with side quests or is it a complete RPG ? is it about reliving history or controlling a character that makes decision in a time that is already past ? is the lack of realism from the animus or are those the rules of the set universe ? what can you do and expect characters to do ?
My answer is : I don't know
Lola Hudry I definitely see where you are coming from. I do think they have done many things in their games that were big departures from previous installments in the series, and I understand why fans or former fans are concerned with these decisions. That being said, many of the core story/gameplay pillars have remained intact, albeit with adjustments, which to me is good enough to continue to call it Assassin's Creed.
I just think the biggest issue is that there sometimes doesn't seem to be a clear connecting story going on after Desmond's death. I think they saw that issue and they are addressing it with the new emphasis on the modern story.
In the end for me what AC is about is having a fun time in a unique historic fiction with stories that include a struggle between chaos through freedom and order through control. Origins certainly accomplishes that through super fun gameplay and a great setting, even if the story needed a lot of work. So I am optimistic about Odyssey.

Although the game doesn’t feature the iconic Assassins, Scott Phillips, one of the games directors has been asked if this is a Templar (or Order of The Ancients) origin story. He didn’t give an answer he simply replied “no comment” leading me and others to believe this could be the Templar origin.
But that’s just speculation, there are no facts unless it’s come straight from the eagles mouth.
What if....this tells us the story of the templars start? Finding artifacts of power, mercenaries dabbing in politics? Start of world control? Possible? I just want to keep hope that this has some story pertaining to the assassins and templars, and not just artifacts of the ancient ones
It'll be focused on the Isu, or the ones that came before. There is no way this is about the origins of the Creed or Templars, it's way too far back. The only way this can make sense in the AC universe is with Minerva/Juno/Jupiter, setting up Bayek/whoever in Rome for part III.

People who are worried about why is this an AC game when you are not even an assassin and that there will be no hidden blade should calm down. In AC2 we learn about Darius who was the Persian assassin who killed Xerxes. Is Origins when Aya gives the blade to Bayek she said that it`s an ancient weapon that killed Xerxes, the same blade Darius used, who lived around the same time Odyssey takes place. So maybe we will meet with Darius who becomes our mentor and converts us from mercenaries into assassins who does not kill for coin, but only when it`s right, and possibly take over Darius for a mission to kill Xerxes, like we took control of Aya in Rome to assassinate Cesar, and see the very first recorded usage of the hidden blade. Maybe the blade will not be available from the start of the game but it definitely will be in there at some point.

It looks like a good game but it's strayed too far from what the franchise started as. This isn't Assassin's Creed, it's Ancient Greece simulator. At least Black Flag wasted no time in exposing Edward to the Brotherhood (even if it was unwittingly so). These guys aren't related to the Assassins at all. Seems like their formula is set the game in an exotic place and throw in a Piece of Eden for good measure.

Someone who loves ancient Greece and Sparta, put that into an open world and add variations of gameplay with big battles among other stuff in a great looking, seemingly detailed world, people will. For sure not everyone wants that and like you it's not their kind of thing, but for others like me this is exactly the game I have wanted for years it seems

How much cooler would a battle in formation with interlocking shields and peltasts on the flanks and edges be? The objectives would be similiar, but you would have to find ways around the enemy battle line, get in there, quickly eliminate the targets and get the hell out of there before getting overwelmed being alone behind enemy lines.
LennoxPoodle lol this is UBISOFT they have absolutely no idea of Greek warfare. The phalanx and their formations would be too boring for this gameplay apperantly.
And greek seafaring apparently. A Trireme would not sail at night and have to be pulled on land when not currently at use. They weren't able to be in water all the time without suffering quite some damage. Also no reasonable captain in antiquity would ever use fire arrows. The ships were made out of wood, sealed with Tar and used waxed ropes for sails of biological material (wool). ALL of this burns very well which means that any highly flamable stuff for fire based weapons and the means to enlight them would pose as much of a risk to the own ship as to the enemy.
P.S. It's quite funny that they talk about the mighty spartan phalanx within the game and that we then see THIS kind of battle.
Big historical inaccuracy is that in the large battle, the Greeks did not fight all disorganized like what is shown in this game. They fought in an organized PHALANX formation with each man’s shield overlapping the next man to his side. Most victorious sides would win due to unwavering discipline because they did not break ranks! Sure there was chaos, but the reason why the Greeks and Romans were so successful at war was because they were organized, unlike barbarians who fought all wild and such.

Enjoyed the first few AC games but when Desmond was killed off the games quickly went down hill. AC Origins revitalized the franchise for me and Odyssey is pushing AC towards more of a RPG/action genre which I love.
Hazard2005 I've loved the games from the first one in 2007. I'm a long time fan, love the Ezio Trilogy, and I'm so excited for this game. I'm so hyped. I loved the combat and story in Origins.

What do you even call this kind of game, leveling simulator? It's not an RPG and it's certainly not assassin's creed anymore.
The other Assasin's Creed games essentially had a levelling system in their weapons systems. Then there is the fact this has the same stealth system that Unity introduced, the same parkour and climbing system and the random eagle. This is very much an Assassins Creed RPG game, and it is an RPG as it does have proper dialogue system for its main quests and some side quests and also introduces an armour system (something that was sorely lacking in Origins).

This game is still assassins creed because they're still have PARKOUR, WALL CLIMBING and LEAP OF FAITH. If these elements gone then you can say its not Assassins Creed. Because in Origins and Odyssey period of timeline the house of Assassins are not yet founded.

The character says that people are hunting her family, so maybe they are the keepers of a piece of eden ? Maybe we will learn more about this ?

Growing up I loved the old Ray Harryhaussen movie "Jason and the Argonauts", and I am so excited to have the naval combat in a Greek Trireme. It's nostalgic for me, not to mention awesome.

With this new RPG approach and wide open world they could actually pull off a viking set AC. Imagine that with naval combat, raiding villages. Trials of the gods against Thor and Odin. Map could include whole of scandinavia including parts of england and north europe. And a DlC where we are the first to discover america.

Can't wait to see how they expand on the pit fights/colosseum gameplay! That was the best part of Origins in terms of combat. I loved how they made unique boss battles at the end of each stage.

Literally the only thing i miss with the old AC games is the finishing. I loved how when you finished your enemies they made like an animated finish which looked awesome. Now they just die. But this and Origins has by far the best maps and game mechanics. And the story on origins was just hella dope, hope Odyssey lives up to my expectation. Love the fact you can play as both genders!!! even tho i will probably play as the dude ;)

It doesn't really matter if it is not so much about assassin's creed anymore ... this series gives as an opportunity to experience many different historical eras through gaming in a very fun way.
There are almost no other video game series that do so and especially not in such high quality and accuracy.

People, obviously there is not hidden blade! It’s 430 plus years before the discovery and finding of the arsenal under our sleeve! Aya as you remember was given this weapon by Cleopatra and so on and so forth! The broken spear is a sick overall first civilization weapon! Honestly I’m glad the developers of Odyssey took a different route then just the norm! Plus, maybe with this new “not so hidden blade” if you will, may actually give these new “assassins/ mercenaries” a chance to increase or possibly upgrade the weapon in some way!

I wish the character movement, combat and climbing weren’t so damn sluggish and rushed... feels like a moab game. Animations in AC origins were smooth as fk and bayek felt like he had weight. It’s pretty damn disappointing if they don’t fix that, besides that, the game looks awesome.
Kassandra's actor is very good. Both in voice and facial movements. I'm impressed, blows Evie Frye out of the water.

They are using the same assets for the 3 games. The last game with these assets is rumoured to be set in Rome. AC: Origins has the base for those 3 assets.

So... Almost everything it's AC Origins. So far it's basically a big DLC. The only thing that matters could be the history, which I wish to be better than AC Origins.
János Kollár no they didn't don't lie. They may say it took them 3 years to make this but Greece was part of origins when it leaked and then they cut it for a sequel. This game is definitely made after origins was complete because it uses origins ui, combat, traversal and parkour. It takes black flags ship combat and they've added the new dialogue system. I mean even ikarus is pretty much senu.

This game looks incredible. Assassin's Creed in the past, despite how beautiful it is, has been known to get repetitive. I think this combats that issue nicely with the interactions etc. You can make your own game kinda thing. It feels like a mixture of Skyrim and AC, I love it. Can't wait!!!

I think everything looks good but I loved the shields in Origins. I know they don’t want to copy and paste too much but that’s one of the main reasons I loved combat in Origins. Instead of block, dash, parry it’s now dash and parry.

acting, dialogue, and animation seem below bar, especially the male protagonist acting. however everything else seems good, graphics and music are nice.

I relate very hard to the person who was playing this. Particularly how they spent a lot of time considering dialogue choices carefully, until the opportunity for a flirty option presented itself at 32:53 and they selected it IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT HESITATION
Origins dlc even worse optimized than last one by the looks of it.
I think i know why they shocked us this much by not creating a game with bayek. AC: Origins was all about the start of the assassin brotherhood, the producers said AC: Odyssey will be all about the start of the templar brotherhood maybe we will even get to know the "father of understanding". The last game in this trilogy will be set in Rome that is probably after Odyssey and after Origins. In that game we will see the real beginning of the struggle between assassins and templars.

I find comments like these funny. AC got flak for a long time for always being the same thing, and becoming stale. Now they try something different and here we are wishing we go back to what it was before.
With this game I really hope, we finally get to learn more about the first civilization.
I loved the concept of this idea and with desmond it was always nice to find out, what is the overall plot and what was the first civilization. Those mystery parts were always the highlights of the ac games.
So i hated that this overall plot was pushed into the background after desmonds death.
I will enjoy the game no doubt! But it's sad to see that Ubisoft doesn't learn. The voice acting and and cutscenes are far below Witcher 3....

Halusination should have a comeback in this itteration of the series. Just like Origins had in the deserts, but now out on the sea. Imagine if, during the naval tour, you would sight sirens, as an halusinational effect.

Ghostayy apparently the main studio behind this game is the same that was behind Syndicate... And if you remember, AC Syndicate too had this weird cartoonish and clumsy animations...
Goooood it's so unrealistic, It COMPLETELY breaks the immersion for me... If there was ONE thing not to screw in an AC, well... That was that...
Frankly, this AC is now way closer to the Witcher or GOW than those firsts mysterious and immersive ACs we used to play in the past...
It's not going to be a bad game I think (I don't know actually) but I can now tell for sure that it will lack the qualities I love in the Assassin's Creed series... :/
