I worked at a building supply company for 22 years and keyed locks there. I now key locks on the side. I ran across a couple of these today. It had me stumped. Now I know. Thanks for the help!
Hello, I'm a maintenance man in Portland Maine who is super interested in becoming a locksmith. I am trying to learn all I can and I want you to know that your videos are great. Just your lockpicking videos alone helped me a lot.
I wanted to replace deadbolt on door for years. Couldn't figure out how to remove deadbolt. I asked everyone and no one knew how. Will purchase new deadbolt tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
This video was a LIFE saver! I have an old home, so I am use to mortise locks and wild door locks! But, I was changing the locks for my work, it had me STUMPED! Thank you for this video!!!
Hi I was wondering the gold part that you pulled out with the key, is it possible that can fall out due to wear and tear? I’m asking because I came home and put my key in and unlocked my door and that piece came out of my lock with the key! I freaked out and thought I was burglarized but I was told by maintenance it could just happen and I don’t believe it.
Good to see how to take it apart, now I just need that wrench:) So, somebody changed the cylinders on this lock I have on my door, but now in the outside lock the key turns to a certain spot and then is gets stuck somewhere and cannot unlock the door. The interior side does not have a problem. Is that something I can fix myself?
I want to put a good security deadbolt and doorknob on my mothers frontdoor, but need one that is longer tban what they are making these days Yhe holes are set in farther i guess. I have found some, but would like to know if you can recommend one that you feel is a really good one.
@@24hrMrLocksmith Thankyou so much for responding to my question. From the edge of the door to center of doorknob or center of deadbolt key hole, it measures 4". When I had been looking for a security set I believe it was one with a 5 inch backset. I had purchased a normal sized set which was way too short even with the option of setting it longer.
I am stuck on the part where you use the Allen wrench to loosen the bolt up, seems like no matter how much I turn it is not allowing me to loosen anything. Help!!!!
Does anyone know how to remove the locks that have metal plugs where the screws should be? I can't figure out a non-destructive way to remove the plugs.
Need help! Trying to add a new remote door unlocking door thingy. Ive taken it apart but then ran into this thing. If u take it off and can put my device in as the circle u see is a bit to small and wont fit . Trying to send you a photo cant send photo. Ive taken it apart but that square box My door is apt metal door Is a bit too small to fit in. my new device Horbil door unlocker
I see this being useful for gates, where, with "normal" double-cylinder deadbolt (like a Schlage B662) could be defeated by just reaching between the bars and unscrewing.
Hi Terry thanks so much for the excellent video (as all your videos are). Quick question: I’ve bought an old house that the previous owner at some point installed double cylinder Lori locks on all exterior doors. They’re a giant pain because if the deadbolt is locked and someone comes to that door you have to have a key to unlock it from the inside to let someone in. I want to convert it to a basic single cylinder lock with a simple knob in the inside for easy locking and unlocking without the key . Can I easily convert mine, and keep the same common house key? Or do I need to buy a whole new lock and get it rekeyed to the house keys?
i have this lock, and i need to replace it. But my deadbolt plate will not come of after removing the two screws? So i cant access the the 5/64th setscrews. I'm baffled. Any suggestions?
my mailbox has like a piece of plastic jammed in it we’ve tried to get out with pliers but it won’t work also it’s a mailbox with others like how an apartment would be
The way you jiggle that key when it's deep inside that tight cylinder really gives me pause. Its always interesting to watch other gentlemen operate their equipment! Remember, always love your parents, dont run with sissors, drink milk, and brush your teeth. God bless
40+ yrs ago it was a great idea. A locksmith could take a Mortice cylinder in any keyway and install it into the Lori Deadbolt. Now we can use Commercial Grade deadbolts and swap out the key-in-knob cylinder.
We just bought our first house and we were wondering just how easy it would be, to replace the old deadbolt. Did NOT think it would be THIS easy!

Thank you! I was at a standstill, but after watching your video, I was able to remove my old deadbolt!

Wow. that is a sneaky lock. Never would have guessed those Allen screws were holding it.
I've never dealt with these before but this is GOOD INFORMATION to put in my head for that one day that I DO run into one. Thank You!!
Thanks so much for this video, there was no way I would have got it off without it
As a fellow locksmith, I find this lock used so much in my area. Cheap locks no doubt.
I prefer to use Schlage B660 and change the cylinder to match whatever keyway they need for the building.
Thank you! Upgrading the locks in my older home. I would have never figured this one out on my own!
Thanks for the follow up video, what happens when the head is stripped or rusted do you drill it out?

If the end cap was not installed properly or worn it can slowly unwind over time. I see this all the time.
How does the rear of cylinder engage the deadbolt throw without a tailpiece ???

The sticking cylinder either needs to be tightened or loosened one complete turn.
@@24hrMrLocksmith Thanks. Tightened/loosened how:?)

Five inch backset from the edge of the door to the center of the hole?

Do you have video for lemaar square flat double cylinder deadbolt?

I get more calls for help with the Lori Double Cylinder locks than any other lock :-)
Does anyone know how to remove the locks that have metal plugs where the screws should be? I can't figure out a non-destructive way to remove the plugs.
You can gently pry them out with a small flathead screwdriver.
My dead bolt looks similar, but there is no hole for an allen key...
pry off the round plate. screws underneath.
Which type of lock would you prefer, instead?
I have absolutely no use for this information yet I watched the whole video just in case it might come in handy one day lol

How do I open a rusted dead lock?
What if you don’t have a key .

Maybe the plate is stuck on with paint or glue.
Remove the plate
@@24hrMrLocksmith interesting, I never thought of that. I'll try to gently pry it off. Thank you
You have the key> I lost the key. No solution for me?
Thank you for the video.
Thank you. This is useful!
What if we don’t have a key
If the door is open, no problem. You can still remove the lock cylinder without a key.
How do you get the Allen key in the right spot if you don’t have the key to unlock it?
Thanks. Very helpful demo
Thank you, sir!
Can anyone tell me how to remove a double-sided lori dead bolt without the key to open the door?
What if you don’t have the key??
If the door is open you can still remove the cylinder. Then replace or shim, pick it open and rekey b
Not feeling a set screw with the little wrench.
Hey Terry! Of course you have a channel! U are the man!

Call your local locksmith to open your mailbox.
I like to learn about old locks.
I've been turning this thing for ever no results 😢
Very slick .great video 😎🏖
no place for Allen wrench. What now?
If it is a Lori Deadbolt then there is a spot for an Allen Wrench.
Thanks so much..dead on info...big help for me...
This video saved my ass Thank you!!
Interesting. Never ran across this lock
