Everyone is saying pick the lock....true but consider the fact that locks break sometimes and even picking it wont do any good and it may have to be destroyed to remove it. It is a easy lock to pick though.
My lock wasn't like this on the inside, a solid metal piece with a key hole. However, the faceplate part was the same, and I was able to unscrew the two screws. Yay!
Hi. I'm a rental guy. I do a lot of evictions and forced entry's. When it comes to destructive entry, NOTHING beats a cordless grinder with a segmented diamond blade. Sledge and SmartKey locks are cut open in less than a minute. Angle the 4.5" diamond blade vertically in line with the keyway and let her rip. Pins fly in seconds. Defiant and Kwiksets melt like butter.
Can someone pls pls pls tell me how to open a single deadbolt lock, using the key hole and with no damage?? As I have left the key in my room I really need to get in my room, even I had put my spare keys into my room 😭
So what happens when the tongue is stuck in the wall? I literally took a defiant doorknob apart using everything from a A pair of needle nose pliers, screwdriver , and a drill then finally a saws all… it took an hour and a half.
I took the screw out of mine, drilled the lock cylinder out, and now can't get the rest of the lock off to be able to change it. He never showed his to do that!
I think the purpose of the video is to show how easy it is to drill and defeat cheap locks like defiant hardware. Personally I don't think he needed to tear the faceplate off in this scenario, but it isn't odd. The faceplates on most locks, even cheap ones like these have a faceplate that is thin, but it is made out of a harder material than the core. This makes it slightly easier for you to drill into if your going to drill out the screws. Now since he was drilling the cylinder I don't think he really needed to remove it, at least I wouldn't.
Yes it is easy to pick my friend but unfortunately cheap locks do malfunction and you have to drill them to get them of the door. Another thing to consider too is this is a demonstration on how hard it is to drill this make of lock. Kind of a psa. I would pick it too if i was a locksmith and re-key it with some steel pins and security pins. It is hard to tell if a easy lock will be easy in the wild, they can be unpredictable. If all else fails drilling is one way to get the job done. Picking is a more effective method when it will work but like i said it is not always going to be a simple job. There is a possibility the guy is not skilled and just charging the customer for a new lock but we don't know if that is true.
All you smug amateur locksport nose pickers out there, he's doing a drilling demo to test several brands of locks. He's not picking or raking it not because he doesn't know how easy it is to pick or rake it.
The drilling was only so the locksmith could charge more and sell a new lock. Could’ve picked it, SPP, even if it had a couple of spool pins, in under a minute. Would’ve saved the lock and only required new keys and repinning at the most.
Next time just hit the front plate with some mapp gas for 10 seconds and save 30 seconds. It falls right off. Had one of these locks frozen on my outbuilding so i used my torch and found this out by accident.
What a waste of time. These locks practically pick themselves. Even if you can't pick, pry the face and back the screws out with the drill. Much faster and less unprofessional. 😂

I would like to see the new high security deadbolts like kevo ect.

At 1:37 you should have just drilled the screw mounts on each side. Much softer than the cylinder. 🤦🏽

Im gonna try that man thanks
so you're cutting down through the top? elaborate please
The reason he tore the face plate off is because there’s a harden steel thing behind it
good info thank you
Why not start with 1/4 in. Drill bit and drill the lock till it just falls apart
This was like watching one of my maintenance techs tie his shoes...🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️I just about shot myself watching this video🤣🤣🤣
Thanks mate. Your video tñreallt helped

If your ever locked outta a building during a zombie apocalypse and you dont have any picks ya know what to do.
perfect for small jobs in the garage

Wow that got messed up
The only question I have outside of "why didn't you pick it?", "What was the purpose of tearing off the faceplate?"

Name a lock that’s not easy to drill open?
Tore off the faceplate to remove the drill resistant hard plate.
Tell me you dont know what youre looking at without telling me.
This lock is easy to pick! Why drill it?
Mark E. so they can charge customers for a new lock and installation fee vs picking a lock in 10 seconds.
hamza kamli yup ripoff

I'm not a locksmith. Look like clumsy +overkill. The title says new defiant lock
Why not just drill the screws out?
imma try that method...

use a longer screw driver for better leverage
These are some of the hardest locks to drill. A Kwikset can be drilled out in under a minute, not these!
Wow
such an easy lock to pick. could pick that lock 3 times in the time it took to drill
All you smug amateur locksport nose pickers out there, he's doing a drilling demo to test several brands of locks. He's not picking or raking it not because he doesn't know how easy it is to pick or rake it.
exactly
A pretty poor locksmith. A Defiant can be picked in no time. If you need to drill it you should have drilled a bit lower so not to hit the shield.

That's nice to know
Do I light the mapp gas or just smack the face plate with the canister?
Interesting... I see how this can work with freezing temperatures, not so sure it will at 85-95F ambient.
Medeco locks, they can't be done like that.
that's the hard way! drill the screws out!!
Screws on the inside. I broke key off on outside. Help
That’s what he’s saying- drill from the outside where the inside screw positions would be and the face will pop right off.
Overkill. Just SPPick it
Sometime the Tumblr is bad and you can't pick it
How ? What’s so pic ?
BLASPHEMY
What is the point of this video? There is no way in hell you are a locksmith... You sir, fall into the scammer category.....
Mate thats way to slow
Way too long
😂😂
Clumsy
And you call yourself a locksmith. Thats offensive to our trade
