I LOVE that video of Captain Crozier’s crew showing him how much they appreciate him. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in my life. Crozier may not have a job (temporarily), but he has the admiration and gratitude of 3000 men and women, and certainly MUCH more than that amongst the public.

Brinx - I think you reaction to this is the right reaction - regardless of your nationality. If this captain was Russian or Chinese, I would feel just as proud of him and the sailors on his ship.
madshark 1369 - The captains of aircraft carriers are selected for their judgement and skill set. The Navy WANTS captains that make difficult judgement call regardless of the consequences to themselves. The captain obviously considered the ramifications of sending that letter and he made a judgement call: which is worse, letting hostile nations know that there are sick sailors aboard OR letting many sailors die. If we were at war, it would be different. If the TR was the ONLY aircraft carrier, it would be different. Crozier did NOT put America OR his ship at risk. Let’s not forget that our adversaries know that this can happen and may have already known the TR had sick crew members. The Russians and the Chinese have top-notch spy agencies.
The American military doesn’t want commanders who follow protocol without considering the consequences. We want commanders who think independently - which makes the American military the most effective in the world. Admirals know that some of their subordinates have personality problems (like Crozier’s CO), and they expect their subordinates to break the chain of command in an emergency. In short, they expect their officers to do the right thing - not just sit there and let hundreds of sailors die and possibly incapacitate the whole crew.
Lastly, if you were the Admiral of the Fleet, wouldn’t you court-martial Crozier? Of course you would - IF you felt he broke Naval Law. Nope. This was a civilian political decision.

You can pretend all you want that you're somehow the smartest guy in the room, but it's painfully obvious you're just compensating for _something._ What that is is for you to know, but it's leaking out with every word you write, and just reading any of it is depressing and sad. I mean, you don't even know how or why the economy was doing well in the first place, nor is there any inkling that _Trump,_ of _all_ people, will reinvigorate it after this crisis abates.
In fact, I'd be willing to bet that after this is all over the economy will barely recover, and we'll probably wind up in another major recession; possibly even worse than what happened in 2008. The mere idea that this conman of a POTUS could even _remotely_ reinvigorate the economy after he has _failed and gone bankrupt eight times_ and to _lose money on a casino_ - which is almost impossible to achieve - is ludicrous. He has no idea how the economy works, nor how to do anything about making it better other than to keep saying it will, and you and his base will eat it up because apparently you're willing to just believe anything you're told. Because that's how a confidence man succeeds, and he is the greatest conman of all time.
@Dave May I'm well aware of how bankruptcy law can work in someone's favor. People use it all the time to get out of debt. You know, like what Trump did for each and every one of those. You know how far in debt you have to be for that to work when you have - allegedly - billions of dollars? The man lost 10 billion over the course of the entire 80's, that's more than every single person who lost money in that decade _combined._ The 80's were well known as being the decade of deregulation and those with money making it hand over fist without any troubles. Yet the Donald _lost 10 billion dollars_ in a decade where it was almost impossible for the rich to lose. That's not being smart, that's being a failure.
But you somehow think his bankruptcies are a sign of intelligence or success. Neither is true, and all of it is incredibly well documented and in the public domain as each suit is put out there in their entirety. Also, he _lost money on a casino._ I notice you didn't even bother defending that, because it's quite literally indefensible. It's his greatest failure, and everyone involved blame _him_ and not the contractors, or the partners, or anyone else involved. Just him. The Taj Mahal is now just a stain on the Jersey Boardwalk as a testament to Donald's hubris.
In any case, everything you've mentioned is just basic, bankruptcy law 101. I doubt you know more about it than that, but you like playing the "smart guy", and it shows when you throw around really simple concepts as if they're deep or complicated. They're not, and feel free to go as in depth as you want; I sincerely doubt you know much more than you've already stated, otherwise you wouldn't have offered since you probably are betting that I don't know squat about _law_ as a _law student._

There are absolute strict rules of protocol every reporter has to abide by while in the press room. If they break any rule they are banned, some immediately, some after the fact. They can't "gang up" if they even plotted to before hand because they would be summarily tossed, their press pass revoked and even their paper/tv station/media outlet banned from appearing again. They are there at Trump's allowance. On the other hand, Trump has rules, too. He has to listen to the entire question before he answers, although he so often doesn't.

Voting by mail is great. When we lived in a mail in state, it was so convenient. I would research every candidate and every ballot measure proposed before I cast my vote. I didn’t have to take time off work or school to vote. It was awesome.

ElzinTheAnomaly No it is not.. at the time they put those test kits out, they were the same as we had.. we found them to be unreliable, which is why we did not proceed to distribute them out which other countries did figuring it was the best thing they had at the time, they were willing to risk some false positives where as we were not. Don’t you think if their testing was so great we would have copied theirs?? Think why we didn’t!! Because theirs was unreliable too!!! Actually... the issue in front of the Supreme Court was separate. A federal judge approved giving wisconsinites a few extra days to return absentee ballots. The supreme Court over turned it.
So many Wisconsinites voting rights have been disenfranchised. Republicans trying to crush voting rights.

Í don't know, I think you're being too charitable with him. I know a few 3rd rate reporters. Most of them actually work for their Paychecks, they deal with deadlines under pressure and have been known to tell the truth now & then. trump isn't fit to shine the shoes of the ridiculous ones, and there's plenty of good reporters who could do a he** of a better job of president than the walking brain foreclosure we have now!
