I think I was born a Costal Grandmother! I love the look, and started dressing this was in my 20's. Since then I have experimented with different styles, mostly boho, being a yoga teacher. For years I wore khaki pants, white v-neck t-shirts, and white leather vans with a linen long sleeved shirt with sleeves rolled up, and always got so many compliments even though I wasn't dressed, just home with my kids working in the garden. I never could put a name on my style, this is it, and how convenient that I'm a new grandmother! I've lived at the shore, and now moving to a town near the beach. My house is decorated as this style as well, (has been for years) lots of white with some blue touches and sweet grass baskets for my sea shell collection. My Gigi dressed this was as well, so I come upon it naturally.💙
I adopted the coastal grandma look a year ago, after dressing more bohemian most of my life. I can combine the 2! But my late mother and sister dressed in this style down in South Florida for decades! They just loved blue, beige and white in their clothing and decor. They wore a bit more black during the Florida "winter."
Don’t mistake my sentiment. I’m a great gram of 6 and love them all. But, from their ages of 3-17, yup, it’s the east coast look. Nothing grandmother about it!
I've been doing Coastal Grandmother/Academia since parochial school...lol. Being from Boston/Cape Cod now, Florida, I'm keeping this look going. Great examples and different design houses to check out 😊
I love this look and have been wearing it for years! When it’s 103 degrees in Texas, flowy is where it’s at, believe me! Keep it up, Nancy, we love it! ❤
I do love this look. Thank you. A little tip is to look for summer straw bags with zip closures. It's too easy for someone to steal out of your open purse in crowded areas like flea markets and music venues. 🤓
I loved the movie, Something's Got to Give... especilly the beach house decor and Diane Keaton's wrdrobe for the movie. I too live in a coastal location, Cape Cod in the summer and Fall, and Anguilla in the winter/late Spring. However, for me, I'll choose bright colors, stripes and white jeans, along with Tory Burch sandals and TB straw bag. I like the pops of cheerful colors in my swimsuit coverups as well. I own 2 pairs of linen elastic waist pants, navy and white... they are OK for at home after the beach, but I feel the Coastal Grandma look can quickly turn dowdy if it's not done intentionally. (Just my 2 cents worth.) Thank you Nancy for bringing us so many great options. As always, I love your well thought out videos, I always look forward to them!
I discovered I am one by a video by one of your YT colleagues from some time ago ! Never would have guessed because I don’t live near the seaside and I don’t have any children so also no grandchildren. I do know I always was in awe when watching the movies you mentioned and always tried to replicate the looks because these light neutrals and “the colours of the sea” as I call them are also simply my colour palette being a soft summer. Now it has a name. My environment will certainly laugh their heads off when I tell them I’m a coastal granny 😂😂
Love this look, it really suits the climate and lifestyle of where I live (Gold Coast, Australia). I already have a number of items that fit into this category and think I will be adding some more
Thanks so much for this video. I’m finally able to put a name on my style. I’m literally a Coastal Grandmother. I’m an American who has been living on the southern coast of France for quite sometime- 5 grands and counting. Thanks for your videos and again especially this one 🌞👒❤️ 8:04
I like this and just bought a 3/4 sleeve open blazer cream with faint navy stripes. Very loose. Can’t wait to add more looks like this to my wardrobe and stop wearing so much black !
I will be a coastal great grandmother this summer. But I live in the mountains of Georgia. So I guess I can pretend. I do own things you shared in the looks. So I guess I can be. As long as it’s comfortable I will wear it. I love all the color you were wearing today. I’m looking for a dress to wear to one of my granddaughter’s graduation in a little over a month. I have an older granddaughter in another state who will be graduating college. But I don’t think I will be able to make it to that one. The one close is graduating from high school. And we just found out tonight what college she will go to after she graduates. Two down only five more to go. My youngest granddaughter is one. So it will be a while.
Love this look and love your videos. I am lucky enough to live on an island with some glorious beaches. Shopping is a bit tricky, lots of online purchases and shipping fees.
I love the look, but not the name! Why can't we women look beautiful, classy, and coastal, without the reference to age?? It's unnecessary and demeaning to women! Just my opinion 😊
She didn’t give it that name. It’s in fashion with people in their 20’s/30’s on TikTok and Instagram… they named it that.. because even though they’re young, they’re dressing like a ‘chic grandma’. Nothing derogatory meant.
Ladies, calm down about the style name Coastal Grandmother! It was coined by a very youthful TH-camr! Google her, she's lovely! We all embraced Farmhouse Decor, and most of us never leave the city, don't garden or would never live in a real farmhouse!
Eeewww...I was liking the costal grandma look idea, until you said Oprah Winfrey, since her Meghan Markle support for all those lies she called an 'interview' I have gone off Anything to do with her!!! As for the rest of it...great! 😊❤ you have a lot of young looking women in you 'examples' why didnt you just call it the Costal woman..not grandmother???? Bit ageist
Of these are coastal grandmother, why use young women, why not grandmothers. I cant see if they would suit me when someone 40yrs younger than me are modelling them. I love all the pieces and thy look fabulous on those young slim bodies. But I have to say, at 67yrs old, my body is well worn, not slim, certainly not tall, and a few bits hang down these days lol 🙈
Please…. I’m 75, live on the NE CT coast. It’s a leisure look. What’s with this ‘grandmother’? Horrible. We ALL, at any age dress this way. Leave grandma out of this!

My favourite style of dressing
It is such a sophisticated and timeless look! 😀

I love the look and am not annoyed by the name. I am a grandmother and grateful to be so!

Yes!
Just found this channel because of a message from Etsy talking about coastal grandmothers. Wasn’t expecting to find this gem of a channel ❤️
I’m so glad you discovered me! Let me know if there’s a topic you’d like me to cover! 😍
My favorite style. Been dressing this way long before it was given a title.
Ditto 😂
I've been doing Coastal Grandmother/Academia since parochial school...lol. Being from Boston/Cape Cod now, Florida, I'm keeping this look going. Great examples and different design houses to check out 😊
I love it! I've been dressing this way for years, and my hubby always said I dress like a kindergarten teacher, lol!😅
Awesome! 🥰
I love this look and have been wearing it for years! When it’s 103 degrees in Texas, flowy is where it’s at, believe me! Keep it up, Nancy, we love it! ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Charla! 🥰

There are also great pieces in this style at Sundance and Chico's. I tend to wear classics, and a lot of them in the summer fall into this aesthetic.
Yes! I am going to try this look!!
Great! 🤩
I allready do it. I'm living at the Baltic Coast of Northern Germany. Born and raised here, returned after periods abroad.
Wonderful! You're ACTUALLY living the coastal grandma life! 🤩
@@shoppingonchampagne yes, I do! 😉
Love the outfit you’re wearing here so gorgeous yet comfy👍👍thank you! Yep living by the ocean, im a coastal grandma dresser all the way
Ist very elegant with the mother pearl jewelry.
I was doing this before it became the trend!! I love linen, flowy pieces shawls and scarves, hats etc
Love the style, just wondering why all the models look like grandchildren rather than grandma 😉🧓?!
😂😂😂
Na damit sich die Enkel auch mal fühlen wie ihre Oma 😂😂😂😂
I’d love some ideas about dressing in this style for cooler weather too!

Love this style! Didn't know that it's called coastal grandma style
Coastal Grandmother. I love it. ❤️
I have always dressed coastal grandmother and had no idea! 😅

It’s fany, grandmother style on 20 years old ❤
Love this look, it really suits the climate and lifestyle of where I live (Gold Coast, Australia). I already have a number of items that fit into this category and think I will be adding some more
Wonderful! 😍
Still waiting for the snow to melt! Love the Starfish dress and some of the other pieces shown.
Thank you for the great summer outfits. Giving me inspiration for my next thrift store finds!
I love this style!

You really are living the coastal grandmother style! Enjoy those grandchildren and life in the south of France! 🥰
My favorite style! 😎
Love this style, I will definitely be trying it, especially the dresses. .thanks
So glad you enjoyed it, Arlene!😍
This is my style and color palette
The name seems strange to me; yet I do like this style. The natural materials and the colors makes it appealing.
I like this and just bought a 3/4 sleeve open blazer cream with faint navy stripes. Very loose. Can’t wait to add more looks like this to my wardrobe and stop wearing so much black !
That blazer sound great, Bonnie! 🤩I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of it.

She sure loves linen
I needed this. Dang it.
I love this look, thanks for the info!
❤love this style
I'm on late 30'.didn't know this style is called like that.always comfortable is my rules in clothes.
Love this look and love your videos. I am lucky enough to live on an island with some glorious beaches. Shopping is a bit tricky, lots of online purchases and shipping fees.
I think coastal grandma might be my style or at least part of it. I like loose comfortable clothes and flowy dresses. I like colors though.
Great video...wondering if you can do a video on glasses...colors , shapes and sizes to match face shape and hair.
J. Jill has a lot of these looks.
Loved the outfits, but besides the photos of the stars you mostly used young, thin models. 🤔
Not my style, but I think JJill and Garnet Hill do this look well .
Oh, Garnet Hill is a great suggestion, Michele! 🤩
Who the heck makes up these names, "coastal grandmother"🤣
It was coined by a woman on Tik Tok who does not look "grandma" in the traditional sense!
Yes, so ridiculous ! 😂
Don’t forget Blythe Danner
OMG, How could I have missed her - she's an awesome example of coastal grandmother style, Victoria. Thanks! 😍
I love the look, but not the name! Why can't we women look beautiful, classy, and coastal, without the reference to age?? It's unnecessary and demeaning to women! Just my opinion 😊
How is a reference to an age demeaning?
I think Coastal is all we need ! Skip Grandma!
She didn’t give it that name. It’s in fashion with people in their 20’s/30’s on TikTok and Instagram… they named it that.. because even though they’re young, they’re dressing like a ‘chic grandma’. Nothing derogatory meant.
Who cares?? Its a coastal comfy vibe
Why not just call it the Coastal style?
Ladies, calm down about the style name Coastal Grandmother! It was coined by a very youthful TH-camr! Google her, she's lovely! We all embraced Farmhouse Decor, and most of us never leave the city, don't garden or would never live in a real farmhouse!

In NAPLES FL we just use brighter colors.
Wish the pants were not so pricey.
Just subscribing . Disappointed that I can’t go to and find easily how to purchase the clothes 🥲
