I love your tips!! I love bright colors! So glad you are telling 50 and older it's ok to wear bright colors and to have fun with it. I am 67 and most people I know dress in black or dark grey in the winter. When I worked we had to wear black! I live in the south and it might be cold one day and hot the next! I always get compliments on what I'm wearing because I wear bright colors all year round. I have very few black pieces but always pair with white or color!

Sometimes age really just is a number. Most of my friends are a lot younger than I am. I had a doctor about 9 years ago so I was around 66. He really pressured me to go to the senior day program near us. So I decided I'd go and show him it wasn't for me. After 2 days, the Social Workers came to me and asked what I was doing there. Most of the people were pretty good for their ages but much "older" than me mentally. There was one woman my age to the day, we shared a birthday, and she was in the earliest stages of dementia. I quit a few days after the social worker spoke to me. Your mental attitude will say more about you than any clothing style you adopt.

Disagree about black. True, Nancy, you don't have the complexion or hair color for it but some of us can wear it well. My hair is mostly silver but you can still see that it was dark brown. I have dark brown eyes and olive skin. I have a few wrinkles at almost 77 but my skin is still smooth and soft. I even had a man comment on it a few weeks ago. There are no hard and fast rules about color for everyone.

Hi, this has been a wonderful video. Younger days I was in fashion and enjoyed shopping. As I've gotten older, with an apple shape now, it has been more difficult to feel good about my clothing. Your ideas have helped me immencly to get me into cleaning out my closet and going shopping again. I follow TH-cam fashion an nothing has sparked me to "go shopping" like you have! Hi Nancy! Navy is my go to neutral too. I find it really flatters my skin tone and makes me look more alive than black. I would love a video on how to mix more classic pieces with modern pieces. Great recommendations and I can’t believe that I just purchased a pair of wider leg jeans for me. The jury is still out on that look and I have to figure out what kind of top in fall colors to wear with it. Please help me, I’m 77 (my lucky year) I hope!!!!!

I have 2pairs; why? Because I need them to go for a pedicure or a foot massage! Easy to roll up.

Well, I have never been able to wear navy and not now when I’m older either. It makes me look dead. Black is always a better choice for me. I’m sure it depends on the colour of your skin and its undertone…
me too! I look better in gray and black than in most "bright" colors, and when I wear them or navy I get asked if I am feeling okay...
Same here and I agree. My mom was similar in complexion to me but actually darker. She was often taken for East Indian. She was a professional woman and wore a lot of navy. She looked better in black. When I was a kid, she had a fixation that I didn't look good in greens or some other colors even tho I was lighter and had more red in my hair. She would always buy me navy or other blue and didn't like most pastels. A friend of my father's once gave me a beautiful emerald green velvet dress for Christmas. I LOVED that dress and Mom hated it. She actually didn't want me to wear it but my Dad insisted and I did. It must have looked good even tho I was only about 9. An older male cousin remembered it 50 years later!

I think a lot of it has also to do with your personality style. I am a very romantic type mixed with classic. I love bows and ruffles but I noticed that I have had to tone these down a bit. I cannot see myself adding "edgy" pieces because it just doesn't go with my style. Having your colors done is a big help for sure. Thank you for the tips!

Hi from East Texas. I like how you mentioned wearing color. I have a cool skin tone and can wear vibrant winter jewel tones. A magenta pink, purple, and bright turquoise are my best colors.
It’s hard to find them though. I really don’t like the jeans this year. I think all these jeans look ridiculous. I want my clothes to fit. I’m 59 and need the lift and tuck of a good jean. I’m really struggling with these styles. Look at the jeans that are above the ankle and are flared and to make it worse they are baggy in the butt. They look so tacky. I haven’t seen any that I like on me. What’s a girl to do?

I like tailored clothing. Now that I am old and plump and wear plus-it is so difficult to find tailored clothing!
A tailor can add darts, even if they weren't originally there.
If you are retired you can no longer afford to pay a tailor to adjust every single item you have bought. Which is what some of these horrible, baggy plus size clothes need. I wasn’t plus size when I was working and not until I became disabled and elderly. So that’s not really helpful: manufactures should make better looking clothing in plus sizes and listen to consumers instead of making these tents!
@@lynnebattaglia-triggs1042 Sometimes just adding a belt or scrunching up sleeves can really make a difference.
My suggestion is never think of wearing “age appropriate” outfits as that would only set a limit to what you can wear. Just have fun and always explore different ways to mix and match pieces. Fashion is suppose to be fun and creative. Do try to trim yourself down if you can as that would make you look younger.

One thing That bothers me is that most if not all style experts include blazers and jackets in the outfit. It’s too hot where I live to wear a jacket or blazer most of the year!!!
And white cotton shirts look nice for about 5 min. Then the humidity makes the shirt wrinkle and wilt in the heat!!!
Try starching your shirts or using sizing to give them body.
Same here. Add a few pounds and menopause to that and you could wring me out if I wear a blazer.

The problem that I have, now that I am my age, is that styling for flattery is NOT comfortable. I have new understanding as to why older people dress the way that they do. Comfort has become my priority now, and shoes dictate the outfit:/.
You talk about showing off neckline (and in this video) about showing off your wrists. Do you live in a very hot climate? I live in Southern California, but in the winter I am cold on arms, and, especially my wrists! We can't keep our homes at 72--nor is my husband comfortable at above 66-67 d. home environments. Even now in mid April, I cover up with a scarf or t-neck. Darn. Must I look frumpy!

your videos are fun and your styles look great on you, but I look best in grays and blacks with touches of deep teal or forest green. brights and navy make me look ill, literally, and ruffles and such make me look childish, they don't suit my frame at all, I am 5'8, hourglass, and very muscular. and for pastels, I look dead in them, they completely wash me out

How to look 10 years younger!!! WHY, these types of videos make me laugh. I can see letting woman of all ages at how to dress a bit better, why should woman in their 50,60 and above think they should look younger. I am over 60 and very proud of who I am including my age. The last thing I want to do is be what I am not. Why do you have to even have "look younger" in the title? That is insulting not our ages.
I am not paying 250 bucks for some stupid looking dress.
