I have never commented on a video before. I am a 64 year old grandmother. I have been so inspired by your comments. All natural linen and cotton make me happy and I am tired of trying so hard to keep up with the younger generation. It is time to appreciate where I am in life and just be comfortable in my own skin. Thank you for your insightful comments!
My Grandma is a coastal Grandmother, an Australian one. I’ll be copying her for the rest of my life! Sometimes we’re the ones trying to keep up with you 💕 My other Grandma, who was much older than you, said the last 10 years of her life were probably her best years so I hope you can find the same happiness and appreciation in your stage of life that she did in her 80s.
Love this style!! Discovered this when my husband was very sick and we thought he was dying earlier this year. I cared for him at home. Provided total care. Mourned for him and spent time remembering our 53 years together and the life we had through the gifts of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Tried to think of what life would be without this special man in my life. With God's mercy and through much prayer he is us alive and getting better every day ❤️. But during this stressful time I began to lose my hair. Not just a few strands but handfuls. My vacuum cleaner and my Shark robo cleaner had so much hair wrapped in the rushes they were not cleaning well.. and they were not our dog or cat's hair. My daughter graciously cut my hair..It was very very short with large areas of no hair BUT I didn't care. I had previously purchased many wigs but chose not to wear them. I didn't want to waste previous time with my husband. I just wanted to wash my hair and air dry it and let it be what it would be. I love linen, I love cashmere and I don't mind if I am wrinkled. I have stopped doing lots of makeup ..no mascara, no liner, no heavy foundation. . just some face cream, a little eyebrow pencil and soft shade of lipstick. Then I am ready for the day.
I’m not a Coastal Grandma, I’m a Southern Appalachia Grandma and this video definitely resonated with me! I stopped colorIng and straightening my hair after doing one for 25 yrs and the other for 40!! I stopped wearing lots of jewelry, lots of makeup, and lots of heels lol. I feel more “me” than I ever have, and that authenticity feels like going outside on the first beautiful Spring day after a long, hard Winter.
I was able to become a homemaker in my late 30's (no more outfits, no more leaving the house every day), and within 10 years, I had developed this casual look. It takes a while to give up trying to be the center of attention, because from the 1980's, we were taught to 'DRESS FOR SUCCESS' and, of course, 'fake it till ya make it'. Now, I'm 55 years into this life of mine, and I have gone from wearing business clothes to wearing nothing but sweat pants and Tshirts and now, once again, I'm into looking casual and stylish, which has a name- the coastal grandma. I'M NOT A GRANDA MA- I never had children, but I'm embracing this style and I literally already have all of these clothes in my closets! I want to THANK KAY for this video, because you, Kay, have said everything that needed to be said about this newest concept of dressing. Explaining the movies, the wardrobe designers goals and the concept of dressing to set a tone to exemplify a profile for a person REALLY explained WHY we might want to try this wardrobe. Thank You!
I am 62 and to tell the truth, I think I have ALWAYS liked the "Coastal Grandma" look. I like the natural fibres, colours and vibe! Classy yet comfy! Yay!!!
I don’t usually comment but that was one of the best videos you’ve done ever. I enjoyed the deep dive concept and food for thought about the evolution of age and style. Thank you
I am moving towards 65 and have no grandchildren, yet as I listened to this video, I realize that I have been moving towards this style: comfort and meaningful, and reflecting my lifestyle. Maybe the "Coastal Grandma " look is like the Apple shape: we all become that.
This is my absolute favorite video you have ever dropped, Kay! I'm a coastal grandma who lives at the beach in NC in the summers. I am heading to choir practice wearing my women's cut Habit fishing shirt from Sam's Club, cropped khakis from Belk's, and comfy Cole Haan nude oxfords. Everything just came from my closet. For a year I have worried about what I was wearing, and today you gave me permission to just be myself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Blessings!
This is a fabulous video. In less than a month I will be turning 70 years old. You have inspired me to make the effort each day. In fact I took advantage of the Talbot’s sales. I was a Talbot shopper for more than 40 years. The last five years I’ve been a sweat pant and jeans shopper. I found your videos about 3 weeks ago and have been binge watching. Living in southern Georgia for the past 5 years my style has certainly changed. Thank you for your inspiration in all aspects of a woman’s life!
just found this post coastal grandmother style . love the colours and relaxed look.i am not actually a grandmother and live in town but i have items in my wardrobe that fit the look so pleased with how i look and feel thanks from a 75 year old woman who lives in wales
This video goes so beyond the particular catchy “coastal grandma” trend of the minute and resonates with me right now as I try to cull my wardrobe into something that reflects my life now. I was born on the East coast, lived in FL during early adult years, spent a majority of my years in the Midwest and now find myself in Georgia. My wardrobe has snippets of all of these places and doesn’t exactly work for my current life as a retiree. The points that you discuss are really going to help me evaluate each piece in my wardrobe and determine if it is truly reflective of me now and of the lifestyle going forward. I think that your insight reflected in this video is one of the best videos I’ve seen on TH-cam. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and insight.
Finally, a style that reflects a mature woman. The over 50 woman is the most populous category, but the fashion industry still focuses on young women (teens and 20s). I think it’s because fast fashion makes them more money and us older women don’t do fast fashion.
This has been my lane since l was twenty!!! I've always been attached to linen shirts, linen pants, leather slides , straw hats and bags!! I'm a neutral girl with simple tastes that always thinks less is more, especially when it comes to hair, makeup, accessories and jewelry. When my husband and I built our home ten years ago,l showed our builder pictures of the home in Something Got to Give and yes I've got that kitchen!! My daughter told me a couple of months ago "mom your finally in style!!", l said "honey ,timeless, simple classics are always in style!"😊🍁
I do like the Coastal Grandma style, the clothing and the furnishings, (and those movies). Yesterday at my club (where I work out everyday) a friend said to me that her husband can always tell an older women because their knees are wrinkly. So she does not wear shorts. I was just incredulous about that. I live in New England and in the Summer it is hot and humid. Even though I am 68, I am wearing shorts... right now. I do not care what some older gent says about our legs. This is what 68 looks like and I fine with that. I do my best to exercise and eat right, but I will be darn if I hide myself or my knees away from the world. Geeze..... LOL Anyway, Thanks Kay. Lots of food for thought.
This is such perfect timing. I turned 60 this year and I suddenly was able to make choices about clothing, hair, pleasing others without second guessing myself.
I grew up in a suburb just 20 miles from Boston. I’m 62 and believe my location influenced my style. My style has always included a smart-tailored blazer that can be worn with nice jeans and a nice pair of leather loafers. I love button down blouses, suede Oxford shoes, and taylor made looking clothes. I like the equestrian feel of some pieces like black leather boots. I love simple gold jewelry. I combine pieces that look smart together. Leisure and relaxed yet smart.
I am impressed with your video about the Coastal Grandmother. Your message so resonates with me and my lifestyle at 81yrs. As I was filling in my Spring/Summer wardrobe gaps, without being aware, I filled in with the Coastal Grandmother style items. My small & simple wardrobe expresses me, is so comfortable. I am very grateful for your messages. 🙂
I live at the beach in LA and I really am a Coastal Grandma. Thank you for emphasizing fit and quality. I think that the Coastal Grandma exudes Confidence. That is what young women long for.
I just received the best and blessed news I’m going to be a grandmother and I will be a stylish one for sure. Love the coastal grandma style and never heard of it. I like the idea that I can tell my story with clothes.
Congratulations 🎉!! Thanks so much for watching. Be sure to read my blog post for more intel on the style. dressedformyday.com/how-to-create-chic-coastal-grandmother-outfits/
I love the Coastal Grandmother style. I grew up on Long Island, NY, near the Atlantic Ocean, and went to camp on a lake in Vermont. At camp we wore white blouses and navy shorts, with navy blazers on Sunday for church. Navy and white is still my style. I have added gray, taupe, and khaki as neutrals, with light blue, pink, and soft green as colors which go well with my pure white hair. (I do like brown but it doesn't look good on me any more.) I have started to clean out my closet of random outfits and currate a wardrobe which reflects who I am. Thank you, Kay, for your inspiring and thought provoking videos and blog posts.
Thank you.. It is always a good idea to give credit to the costume designers because they understand the science of style. I am loving the Coastal Grandmother style.
I really appreciated this deeper dive! I’ve always admired women who had a strong sense of self & style. I just turned 50 last year, had double mastectomy & reconstructive surgery, and changed careers. I’m realizing how much I’d like to be able to cull & rebuild a wardrobe that I feel good about in terms of style, stage of life, my lifestyle, and feeling like it’s flattering for my body type. This particular vibe is attractive for all the reasons you shared, but on me I feel like I look even wider & shorter when I try these loose, straight leg styles. You’ve given me a great starting point though with your suggestions on how to build our own wardrobe.
Good luck with your journey Amy. I had severe Covid and I’m now impaired. My rehab journey included nutrition, exercise, a focus on my mental health and a new wardrobe due to body changes. My goal was to stand strong and be visible and cultivate a new style identity. It has been an enjoyable journey thanks to channels like this. My style is different from Kay’s but I find her thought processes very helpful. Show up for your day has been the mantra adopted from her - it really helps!
@@amykubelka4862 thank you Amy. Stay strong. My Mom had breast cancer at age 37. She is now a feisty 83 years young and doing well. Prayers for your good health.
Kay….you are wonderful and a hoot to boot🥰. Love how you help us senior women understand our importance in the world today….always putting our best foot forward! Love being your friend in Arizona!😢
Yep, sounds like we Granmas and ladies of our age group.. We have lived, loved and battled.. now it's time to enjoy our life and be comfortable doing it. Right on point Kay.
I like the casual look from J. Jill in linen in neutrals and also some of the preppie resort style from Lillie Pulitzer. Not cheap! I am starting to buy mostly white, cream, and navy colors now. Good advice, we have put in the work. We can be who we want to be.
I am really excited about the coastal grandma trend because the pieces I have bought are extremely classic items I can wear for the rest of my life if they hold up.
Bonjour! I'd never heard of the term "coastal grandma" before and really enjoyed this video. I'm a French grandmother and we have this style in France too, or a close version of it. I love it and it's actually my stylet :) However, it makes me a bit sad that the term "coastal grandma" excludes women who are not mothers or do not have grandchildren, even though they can have wonderful personalities like the characters from the movies you mentioned: they have wisdom, experience, self-confidence, are supportive of their friends and relatives. Even if they don't have children or grandchildren (and perhaps they tried), they still offer so much to their private circle and community. And the way they dress, their style, can be just like what you describe and inspire others. :)
Even though we might not actually be a mother or grandmother, we can be a positive influence in someone's life because we have that level of maturity that only comes with age and experience. And I've always admired French women because they have that innate sense of style that comes with life's experiences and they never try to be anything but what they are - timeless and classic!
That is so true! I wasn’t able to have children but I am certainly in that age group now and I look like a coastal grandma on my best days ;0)… I’d like to think I have a lot to offer the world even though I didn’t have children. I do wish that there were a slightly different wording for this type of woman but I get it. I just love Kay’s mindset and sense of style ❤
I have to tell you, that you had a Very Important message with this video. I am turning 70 and I have been “ruminating” over many of these issues you talked about. Basically, this Is My Time. I’m ready to let the world know that , this is who I am, and I’m proud to be me. Thank you so much for this video, and I think women my age are possibly going to get a new appreciation from the world. We don’t Need it, but it’s past time that the world started honoring wisdom and agin* with confidence and grace. Great video and great thoughts to send out to other women! Thank you!
I hope women your age do get more appreciation! I absolutely love my Grandparents, my Mum’s Mum is the last one of them left so I really value our time together. There’s also some single women and women who don’t have children that are a similar age that I really look up to. They always brighten my day! I’m only in my 20s, but the time I’ve spent with older women has been extremely valuable to me. I’m sure there’s people who feel the same about you, even if they’re too shy to say it 💕 I’ll have to make sure I tell the women I know!
This video really resonated with me and finally gave a name to my style esthetic - classical, well fitting clothing with just a zip of inspiration from some of the current trends! I have things in my closet that are well over 30years old that still fit(!) And are classics that never go out of style like blazers, trench coats, round toe booties and animal prints that I have intermixed with all my current stuff. I love shopping at Chicos, Talbot's and Chadwicks plus shop the discount stores like Marshalls and thrift stores, too. Thank you, Kay, for showing us that we can be who we really are without being matronly or like an old fuddy duddy!
I never heard of this style but I like it. I can see this in you Kay. I’ll take it a step further. This women is selective. She is selective in style and substance. She’s confident. She knows who she is and want she wants. She is who she is and knows her own skin. That’s our story as older women too. I also see this in black actresses and authors like Cicely Tyson, Tony Morrison, Maya Angelou and even Oprah Winfrey. We are the world and the world is in us. We are how we dress. I agree. Let’s us be who we are. Thank you Kay. Interesting topic.
I’ve always loved this style in the Nancy Myers movies, especially Dianne Keaton’s looks but didn’t know it had a name. I would add to that list Jane Fonda’s style in Grace and Frankie, love her casual sophisticated looks. Always looks polished!
I agree. Always love Jane Fonda’s style in that show. There were times when I watched, I wish I could have purchased some of those gorgeous blouses she wore on the show.
This is the best video you have made yet! I love how you encourage us to think about how to tell our story of what is important to each of us. Very, very interesting topic. Thank you.
This was an outstanding video. I think you've captured exactly what is so appealing about the coastal grandma style. Thanks for encouraging older women to show up authentically.
Thank you for your site. Love the information you have shared. I'm 75 years old and have learned over the years I don't have to wear what others say is trendy or acceptable in their eyes. My mother was a young woman in the 1940s and she taught me how to have several basic outfits using separates. She also said accent accessories are key to making outfits special. I have subscribed to your site here and signed up for the emails. Thank you, again, for the great ideas.
Thank you for this video. I have watched you for awhile. This video made me remember a movie I watched years ago. Took me a few minutes to remember the name of it. It’s a Hallmark movie from over 30 years ago called the Shell Seekers. I loved Angela Lansbury’s wardrobe in the movie. It was also a book. Going to see if I can find the movie again. I am now a coastal great grandmother. Thank you for all your videos.
I appreciate your message in this video…as a Coastal Grandmother…I was starting to resent all the reference to Coastal Grandmother “trend” on social media…because for me it is not a trend …. your deep dive explanation was wonderful. Thank you
Thank You For The Reminder, And Yes I've Start Wearing My Preals during the week Even If I'm Just Taking Care Of My Plants On My porch 😊 And Wearing My Good Dress To Have Tea With My Husband, Not Saving Pretty Things For Just Speical Days Anymore.
I remember getting the J. Jill catalogs in the mail and loving the looks. Neutral colors with a touch of blues and aqua is what I think of too. My daughter says this Coastal Grandma also goes for home decor.
I love the whole idea of being comfortable with yourself. I feel that it is important to accept yourself & not compare yourself to others. We ALL have our unique talents & gifts to share . You don’t need certain material things or clothing to impress other people. Since I have turned 50 , I have come to find peace & contentment.
Wonderful, Kay. I don’t necessarily embrace the term “Coastal Grandma” - but I definitely embrace the look! Also the reality - I am Nana to six beautiful grands; I’m a young 71 (age being a state of mind!) and I enjoy being put together and casually chic. Thanks for your always great advice. I am silver-haired, blue-eyed and cool-complected. My neutrals are grey, navy, black and white. I’d love to wear the oatmeal-y beige and khaki colors you look so wonderful in, but just have to stick to my cool homes. Enjoy Ohio!
Enjoyed the video Kay. I liked the deep dive concept. I felt your comments gave thought to natural fibres which are better for the climate. To use what we already have in our wardrobes and to dress for ourselves and current lifestyle.
Hi Kay - well I am a grandmother and I do live on the coast. But seriously I do know what you mean exactly by that style. My sister-in-law is the perfect example of that style. She always looks put together and cool as we live here on the Texas coast. She does wear a lot of linen and loose fitting things and she has the figure that she can do that. She is 76. I am 74 and I do not have the figure for that kind of style but I do want to have a similar style that works with my figure. Seems like pants is where I have the biggest problem. Thanks so much for all your wisdom you really inspire me. Blessings to you.
I think more brands are making linen pants these days, so I’m sure there are some that would work for you. Take your sister shopping with you and get her to help you try some new things. Take photos in the fitting room with your phone. Then leave everything there on hold and go get something to drink. Sit and look over the photos together. You will be surprised at how much more you like some things that you thought you didn’t look good in. Try places like Soft Surroundings, Chico’s and JJill. If you want to wear this style I know you absolutely can. 💕
Ohhhhmy dear a video about wisdom and confidence 👌i am 61 years old and every body thinks I’m in my fifties ! But I love confortable clothes and shoes!!! love neutral colors and don’t fallow trends. I where what I like and looks good on me Thank you so much for the video 👌👏
Thanks for sharing. It’s the beautiful breathable fabrics that I gravitate to. As we age, comfort seems much more of a priority. I live near the southeast coast, where it’s hot or hotter, humidity is intense, and finding breathable fabrics with a smart yet simple style is a priority. If only manufacturers could offer more affordable choices. I gravitate towards resale items for those vintage quality natural fiber option.
Good morning Kay! Thank you for this deep dive content into learning more about the coastal grandma style even though we’re not all mothers or grandmothers. The aesthetic of it is still casual and relaxing at our age. We still have our own story to tell. You always look beautiful no matter what you’re wearing! I appreciate you! 💕
This deeper dive into "Coastal Grandmother" style is wonderful! So well thought out and beautifully presented, Kay! I do like the carefree, relaxed nature of this style. My main challenge with it, is to not have it go too flowy, so that it's still figure flattering.
Absolutely wear the silhouette that works best for you. I don’t think everything has to be flown or loose fitting at all. I am so glad you enjoyed the video.
I like to wear a tighter Tshirt under a flowy open button-down. Or a flowy shirt (even a tunic) over a straight but relaxed pair of jeans. You can wear a crop top, even a bandeau bra top with looser pieces.
A dear friend of mine who died last year is the exact description of a coastal grandma. I have always struggled to define her style. Joan was the epitome of artsy, appropriate, stylish, comfortable, effortless and chic. She wore the same outfit for the whole day, often linen, yet she never looked wrinkled or disheveled or sweaty! Her jewelry dangled and clinked, her clothes flowed, and her shoes were comfortable and perfect for her outfit. A friend who would sometimes get her hand-me-downs said she would hold things up and try to figure out how to wear it, or what part of the body it went on. But on Joan it always looked so perfectly draped and elegant. Thank you for finally giving me a style to describe her memorable look.
Kay, very insightful video about dressing your story. You speak very eloquently about how to look lovely no matter which decade of life you're blessed to be living.
I truly enjoyed this video and a your information about the Coastal Grandmother style. I enjoy sharing my style with others who are less comfortable with their style but am forever watching others styles and get inspiration from these women… This video was definitely inspirational to me thank you!!
I really enjoyed this video! I’m a major Talbots shopper. I especially enjoy their shoes because I wear a size 5 and I love unique looking shoes. I think this video gives us permission to be ourselves and not feel guilty about it! Thank you!
I've not heard the term till now. It makes me think of the beautiful Diane Keaton. Absolutely love her style statement !!! Strong timeless feminine... she's an icon to me in every way.
Good morning Kay sweetheart, what a beautiful video, and the term Coastal Grandma, I haven’t heard of. Very enlightening, and also relaxing. I definitely, will take ur advice. Thank u. 🙏🥰👍👏❤️⭐️🌟✝️🌺👌
I'm so glad that brown is trending! It's been very hard for me to find brown pieces, especially on clearance, which is how I buy most of my clothes. It's how I afford quality items.
great video, thanks so much, yes, lets learn how to tell our own story with our wardrobe, such an important piece of advice, working on it, some days I think I get it and some days I'm still working on it. and dressing for our reality, after 25 years as an overseas worker and now reentering the workforce in the US, I've got a lot to figure out, but thank you for your blogs and videos they have helped me so much.
Great video. I enjoyed the part about the costume designers - it's something I didn't think about too much, yet that example really tells us that our clothes tell our story. I like the CG look with the beachy vibe. Yet there is an ethereal essence about it, with a feeling of floating on air - I like that.
Great video Kay! I loved your perspective with the mention of movie costume designers. Loved all the thoughts on personal style telling our story. Thank you! I had never heard of that style before today: I like to learn something new everyday!…😉
I started not to watch this video because I’m Coastal Grandmothered out, but I’m glad I did. In these movies that style was a small part of their wardrobe. Think of Diane Keaton in the date scene with Keanu Reeves. She wore a beautifully elegant black dress and not to mention the white pant suit. I really love simple, classic clothing so in my opinion the Coastal Grandmother vibe is really about getting back to simple, classic and elegant basics.
You know throughout these past years, you've helped me realize I'm very talented Artistically!🌸 I took a a few Interior Design classes in Highschool that was available to me. Then years & years later and I'm now 64, I self taught myself as a Digital Graphic designer online with my own Shop of apparel and Home Goods! Only that I'm alone, so I don't get any accolades? But I'm proud of my self and what I've created.🌸⚘️Thank you for your inspirational Channel.
I almost didn’t watch this. I thought you would be talking about beach, resort wear! We retired to Northern Europe and I won’t be at the beach. So glad I did watch. I am tired of my navy and black capsule wardrobe and I needed the “wear what fits your life” talk. Great video. Thanks!
Great job, Kay! I've followed you for quite a while and you always do a good job, but getting to the real meaning of this "style" will be helpful for all those new followers, too.
I like the coastal grandmother aesthetic and it looks nice on taller people I think, but it would not suit me. However, I really appreciate your insightful comments about being true to your authentic style and that's what I am trying to do. It's a journey and I am enjoying it!
YOU are a breath of fresh air! I 110% agree that I dont WANT/NEED to look like my 25-30 year old daughters!!! I love fashion and like to dress elegantly but yet dress my age on my terms!!!!Finally!!!! I also think to myself...what do my sons-in-law think or my grandchild when they see how I dress?!xoxox
I agree with everything you said. I stopped wearing uncomfortable clothing g and shoes along time ago. Being comfortable in your clothing is important.
I’m a retired woman who lives in the California desert. So I love linen I wear a lot of neutral linen because it’s warm here. I love that style I have my own take on it. I call it the Desert chic.
Such great insight into the coastal grandma aesthetic! Thank you! I wonder if this is also a reaction to Covid. Women have stayed at home in their sweats and comfy clothes for such a long time. They’re ready to go out and look chic and sophisticated, but still want that comfort! I guess I’m describing myself!
Thanks so much for sharing Missy. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. 💕

You may have a point. But fortunately I think there are some brands that do get it. Thanks so much for watching.
Amen, girl! You will be a great encouragement to others.
@@Gnv-q2m Thank you so much for your encouragement and sharing your experience! Prayers for your continued healing!
@@amykubelka4862 thank you Amy. Stay strong. My Mom had breast cancer at age 37. She is now a feisty 83 years young and doing well. Prayers for your good health.
@@Gnv-q2m That's great to hear! Thanks!
Really enjoyed the way you dove into this topic and encouraged us to be ourselves. - to curate our wardrobes to reflect who we are - thank you
No worries! You don't need to have children or grandchildren to be a coastal grandmother!
I am turning 70 and I have been “ruminating” over many of these issues you
talked about.
@@em6644 yes! Let them know how you feel. It will mean the world to them.
Fantastic video! Please do more coastal grandma ones during different seasons. Thank you so much
This video really resonated with me and finally gave a name to my style esthetic - classical, well fitting clothing with just a zip of inspiration from some of the current trends!
Thanks for adding your thoughts Cindee. I agree it’s so important to be authentic in our clothing choices.
Oprah is definitely a coastal grandma!
I’ve always loved this style in the Nancy Myers movies, especially Dianne Keaton’s looks but didn’t know it had a name. I would add to that list Jane Fonda’s style in Grace and Frankie, love her casual sophisticated looks. Always looks polished!
Absolutely. Jane Fonda looks amazing in that series. Her look is so sophisticated yet comfortable.
I agree. Always love Jane Fonda’s style in that show. There were times when I watched, I wish I could have purchased some of those gorgeous blouses she wore on the show.
@@damnyankee2137 the crisp button down blouses, the upturned collars, the scarves and classic cardigans/cable knits, perfection!!
This is the best video you have made yet! I love how you encourage us to think about how to tell our story of what is important to each of us. Very, very interesting topic. Thank you.
Thanks Kay, at 61 I feel great and love how I look and feel. Women can still be beautiful as they age. Also, beauty comes from within.😉
Absolutely brilliant Kay! This is the best video I have ever seen……..well done and thank you.
This is a fantastic book - hope you can find it and read it!
The Shell Seekers is one of my favorite books of all time. I'll have to find the movie.
I where what I like and looks good on me
Thank you so much for the video 👌👏
❤ I agree - I love everything you do on your TH-cam channel but this episode was truly inspiring. Thank you Kay!
I know. Either clothes are $20 or $2000. How about decent quality clothes for a fair price?
@@magdlynstrouble2036 I like your ideas!
Kay, great video today. Wisdom and being authentic is beautiful. We are perfect just as God has shaped us.
Fabulous video, much food for thought. It will take a while to achieve a curated wardrobe but am working on it. LOVE the necklace.
Thank you for such great ideas and bringing style back into my age 60 life!
Lifelong Carolinian here...for me is classic Hilton Head or Savannah style. Have a great day Kay!
Absolutely. Thanks so much for sharing. 🌊
Kay I enjoyed this video so much. You are so insightful and you gave me a lot to think about before I finished my first cup of coffee!
Great to hear! Thank you for letting me know that you enjoyed it. 💕
Kay, you are spot on in this video. Thanks for putting style in the right perspective.
Kay, very insightful video about dressing your story. You speak very eloquently about how to look lovely no matter which decade of life you're blessed to be living.
Thanks so much.
Yes! We know who we are! We know what works for us, and we're not afraid to express our own unique style! Love this video!
Thank you Julie. 🥰
Great explanation of the costal grandma look. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. You are so encouraging and help me keep my confidence as I age.
I have loved this style for a long time, but didn't know there is a name for it.
So great! Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us! ❤️
Thank you!
I love your thinking. We all need to feel good and be happy.
Thanks so much for watching, Sherree.
I've not heard the term till now. It makes me think of the beautiful Diane Keaton.
Absolutely love her style statement !!!
Strong timeless feminine... she's an icon to me in every way.
Yes, she is the one most frequently cited in this style aesthetic. I do love her style too. 😊
Thank you for this video!! I am definitely a person that respects style for myself and others!
Good morning Kay sweetheart, what a beautiful video, and the term Coastal Grandma, I haven’t heard of.
Very enlightening, and also relaxing.
I definitely, will take ur advice. Thank u. 🙏🥰👍👏❤️⭐️🌟✝️🌺👌
Thanks so much for watching Rachel. 💕🥰
I'm so glad that brown is trending! It's been very hard for me to find brown pieces, especially on clearance, which is how I buy most of my clothes. It's how I afford quality items.
You are always so encouraging, Kay. I appreciate your expertise and wisdom. Thank you for another great video.
Great video, Kay! Love what you do for all of us. Thank you !
great video, thanks so much, yes, lets learn how to tell our own story with our wardrobe, such an important piece of advice, working on it, some days I think I get it and some days I'm still working on it. and dressing for our reality, after 25 years as an overseas worker and now reentering the workforce in the US, I've got a lot to figure out, but thank you for your blogs and videos they have helped me so much.
What an inspiring, empowering video! Thank you Kay!
I’m so glad you thought so. Thanks for letting me know. 💕
Im a total coastal grandma lol, its my style completely. Love the idea of dressing to exemplify our lives👍
I really enjoyed how you put into words very interesting concepts. And you are always so encouraging!
I have enjoyed all your videos but this one is SO inspiring, thank you for a new vision for my future!
Congratulations. This is one of the best videos you’ve done. It is really a deep dive, very interesting and innovative. Thanks a lot.
I tried to copy the coastal grandmother style when I was a high school student in the late 1990s! I loved Martha Stewart in her denim shirts.
Wow! What a fantastic video. I loved the artistic delivery of the stories you shared to bring home these concepts!
Thanks!
I loved this conversation! Thank you so much for inspiring me to “ tell my on story”!
Great job, Kay! I've followed you for quite a while and you always do a good job, but getting to the real meaning of this "style" will be helpful for all those new followers, too.
Love this video Kay, such great ideas and beautifully presented. Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. 🥰
I like the coastal grandmother aesthetic and it looks nice on taller people I think, but it would not suit me. However, I really appreciate your insightful comments about being true to your authentic style and that's what I am trying to do. It's a journey and I am enjoying it!
Love this deep dive…..makes sense to me…..thank you!
What an extraordinarily insightful video. Thank you kindly for your observations and commentary. I took it to heart.
Thank you so much, Kay, for your insight into this style. This was a particularly interesting video. 💕x
I agree with everything you said. I stopped wearing uncomfortable clothing g and shoes along time ago. Being comfortable in your clothing is important.
Thank you for such a great detailed description of the CG style!
Women have stayed at home in their sweats and comfy
clothes for such a long time. They’re ready to go out and look chic and sophisticated, but still want that comfort! I guess I’m describing myself!
Karen here. A lot of modest styles. Love it
