The one time I’ve ever gotten a tall bird was when I was playing a world as WX and I was freezing to death due to the fact that it was raining and I wasn’t gonna get to base in time. I built a fire and then put my egg next to it to cook it (I was trying to get a cooked morsel (I was really new and didn’t bother checking the wiki to see that tall bird eggs are better than morsels)) so I sat near the fire and something magical happened, a smallbird hatched from the egg. At the time I was at my friends house and he didn’t know what don’t starve was. So I told him I hatched the bird and he was like “how rare is that” and I didn’t know at the time. I just said “I don’t know It’s probably kinda rare”. I’m still dumb so I don’t know how rare it is for a egg to hatch while it’s near overheating.
I raised a small bird, named her Penelope and kept her in a pen when she got older. Then a mob broke the wall in the night and she escaped and killed me 😅 teenagers ammirite?

That’s how I began my journey to kill all the spiders.

I would not be surprised if Klei one day decides (perhaps even without telling anyone) to let Tallbirds step over walls with their long legs, the chaos and confusion that would cause to Tallbird farmers would be glorious to watch

The first time I ever raised a Tallbird egg all the way the bird sort of glitched out somewhere and then eventually disappeared from the map, so I thought it starved to death. Then, many DST moons later I decided to go to one of two Tallbird fortress set pieces on my map to try and build a farm, but as it turns out, my one bird was actually hunting the Tallbirds as they spawned, which slowly caused all of the eggs in the nests to hatch and create further Smallbirds, until the entire setpiece was covered in Smallbirds, eggs, and meat from them killing their parents. This also spread to the second setpiece on my map, and for weeks there were Smallbirds everywhere wreaking havoc until finally the Tallbirds somehow managed to get the upperhand again and killed them all off, lol. It was pretty entertaining and I used to walk to both setpieces every day just to see who was winning the war and see what food there was around.
I know why they made the tallbirds do it but I IMPLORE them to make smallish tallbirds either loyal enough to not bash your head into the ground or introduce something that just doesnt allow them to grow
@@An_Entire_Lime maybe if you keep them fed above 40 food (in said realm) they will be more loyal due to you giving better parenting, then you could have a tallbird coop

I wish klei would allow it to be an extra permanent follower. Because you fought so hard to keep it alive just for it to kill you. I mean it could also add another way to play the game. You could make an army. Ooh and what you feed it could change its element and attack! They would lay eggs allowing you to get more! To keep it balanced they could die of age. They could implement an item dropped from friendly tallbirds when they die that allow you to make a tombstone.
A few days ago I went to the closest tallbird nest in my world to see if it had laid an egg yet, and I just stood by and watched as the mama tallbird attacked one of her three smallish tallbirds and the other two retaliated and her three children all worked together to murder her. It was kind of horrifying. And before that I saw her murder two of her other children. So she kinda deserved it tbh
These mobs need reworked, I mean they just kill their kids that they spend so much energy on guarding. It's like raising your baby to five years old and then just throwing it in the trash.

To be honest I was planning a world generation video for today however tallbirds came across my mind and obviously I went with that idea instead. Something like this will be made soon though!
By the way, if you're wondering, that happens because at the start of the world gen a random resource is chosen for grass, twigs and berries. You might have also noticed sometimes there's no grass outside of grasslands. This is because that grass has been replaced by Grass Geckos, which will spawn on the rocky biomes or desert. Berries are obvious, sometimes they're Juicy Berries, sometimes they're normal. If you want to avoid all of these, and just have saplings, grass tufts and berry bushes (which i honestly prefer a lot), just pick "Starting Resource Variety" in world gen and choose "Classic". You can also have different Resource Varieties on both the caves and overworld, if you're somewhat lucky. Also Twiggy Trees will still spawn even if you pick classic, so if you want a Twiggy Tree farm you can have one. Hope this helps!

My strategy is to play as Webber, live near a spider's nest steal the egg run the my spider and let them attack him. If they kill it, good, if not, then it usually has lost agro I then pick up the left behind spider items.

My struggles in raising one these abomination. Game 1: I got the egg. I place it near a campfire. During dusk, a bat flew over from a nearby open cave entrance and ate it. Game 2: I got the egg. This time I am watching over it, but I need to clean up base a little while I am at it. A freaking wormwood wanted to start a poop machine from a werepig, and the werepig was too fast for me to stop it from stealing the egg and eat it. Game 3: I got the egg. Night came, and I moved the egg closer to the fire for warmth, but then I realize my hunger level was at 20 points left. I rush to the crock pot to make some meatballs. A dumb noob Webber place a spider egg near our base, and a spider came lurking out of the shadow and ate my tall bird egg. I got sooooooo mad that I kill the spider nest. Game 4: I got the egg. This time I use the sit emote on the egg while guarding it like a mama bird would do. I had enough food for 3 days straight without having to do anything but keeping the egg in a comfortable temperature and protecting it. 3 days later... "The hatching has begun!" baby tall bird followed me around. I didn't have to feed it much since the baby tallbird would find its own food if there was food laying about. It mainly eats things like seeds and berries. So I always have a handful on me at all times. We went hunting together, fight together, and slept near a campfire together. Until one day a catcoon attack my baby tall bird and killed it. I grew furious and slaughter all the nearby catcoon, including the one that killed my baby tall bird. My anger was unleased and took on the form of burning down all the catcoon houses. *I was that willow main*. Game 5: I repeat game 4 process of raising my baby tallbird. It grew up and became the tallbird that it was truly meant to be. I wore a bush hat and wait until the last day of growth and unleash hell onto the people at base in the middle of a winter night. I have repaid my suffering in full.
It hurts me to find they are supposed to be rare, being a noob and not knowing how to really fight , yet I would end up with either the tall bird set piece or like 4 to 5 in all the worlds I had played
Every time when I my friends and I get a tall bird egg and place in down it doesn’t last 2 days because we always for some reason get a hound attack and the egg gets eaten Also I remember playing Webber one time and bring one of my spider slaves over and it ate the egg
that fact that you state that they have 2 legs implies that there are birds with other amounts of legs and that's something I don't want to think about
@@XonyMudd even tho there are a bunch of monsters and such seeing a 3 legged bird chasing you with a killing intent would probably be the most disturbing enemy in the game(if it where to be added) in my opinion
"Tallbirds are rare" Me, finding a group in the first 10 minutes: 0_0 I sometimes don't know if I should be happy or not. Yeah, I always get spawned somewhere near cave/wormhole/pigmen but also get annihilated buy killer bees, hordes of spiders and similar stuff almost immediately. I had just found a mandrake when a pack of hounds killed me.
I feel like sharing a story basically I had a tallbird Fortress spawned and during a time I was just looking at them until they start laying their eggs does my genius brain of mine said haha free food basically I lured a few tallbird away from the Nest I picked up three tallbird eggs and to Escape them I took a wormhole so cut to a few damages taken low on health and had my log suit broken decide to take the Wormhole back the same Wormhole that I used to escape what I didn't realize was that all birds were right there waiting for me and let's just say I didn't get the eat eggs for dinner (PS the main reason why I took the Wormhole back because my base was nearby the area)
I hope they add small birby as a critter one, is really sad raise your child just to ending kill it :'( that was the most sad thing I discover when I raise my little one x.x
Another question, what boss should I fight next? I’ve beaten all of the seasonal bosses and am on day 200 something. Should I go for dragon fly, bee queen, or ancient guardian? Or is it personal preference? Anyways thanks for the great video! :D
Are you soloing them all? Well that's an impressive feat, but I'd say to always leave ancient guardian for last, he's really a beast when singleplayer hunting

@@oilrig2384 Tall Bird egg ALWAYS hatches after few days, but it only happens if the egg wont burn or freeze, so you need to BALANCE it.

Game 3: I got the egg. Night came, and I moved the egg closer to the fire for warmth, but then I realize my hunger level was at 20 points left. I rush to the crock pot to make some meatballs. A dumb noob Webber place a spider egg near our base, and a spider came lurking out of the shadow and ate my tall bird egg. I got sooooooo mad that I kill the spider nest.
Game 4: I got the egg. This time I use the sit emote on the egg while guarding it like a mama bird would do. I had enough food for 3 days straight without having to do anything but keeping the egg in a comfortable temperature and protecting it. 3 days later... "The hatching has begun!" baby tall bird followed me around. I didn't have to feed it much since the baby tallbird would find its own food if there was food laying about. It mainly eats things like seeds and berries. So I always have a handful on me at all times. We went hunting together, fight together, and slept near a campfire together. Until one day a catcoon attack my baby tall bird and killed it. I grew furious and slaughter all the nearby catcoon, including the one that killed my baby tall bird. My anger was unleased and took on the form of burning down all the catcoon houses. *I was that willow main*.
Game 5: I repeat game 4 process of raising my baby tallbird. It grew up and became the tallbird that it was truly meant to be. I wore a bush hat and wait until the last day of growth and unleash hell onto the people at base in the middle of a winter night. I have repaid my suffering in full.

It hurts me to find they are supposed to be rare, being a noob and not knowing how to really fight , yet I would end up with either the tall bird set piece or like 4 to 5 in all the worlds I had played
Every time when I my friends and I get a tall bird egg and place in down it doesn’t last 2 days because we always for some reason get a hound attack and the egg gets eaten
Also I remember playing Webber one time and bring one of my spider slaves over and it ate the egg

@@XonyMudd even tho there are a bunch of monsters and such seeing a 3 legged bird chasing you with a killing intent would probably be the most disturbing enemy in the game(if it where to be added) in my opinion

I sometimes don't know if I should be happy or not. Yeah, I always get spawned somewhere near cave/wormhole/pigmen but also get annihilated buy killer bees, hordes of spiders and similar stuff almost immediately. I had just found a mandrake when a pack of hounds killed me.
The moment I spawned, it took me less than 30 seconds to find a tallbird fortress. And of course, I died instantly.

I was chased into a killer bee spawn area by tallbirds and I almost died
They act like they have nothing to do with you and become hostile when the become an adult.
Just like kids
If the kid becomes hostile to a parent when they become an adult that normally means the parent did something wrong.
I feel like sharing a story basically I had a tallbird Fortress spawned and during a time I was just looking at them until they start laying their eggs does my genius brain of mine said haha free food basically I lured a few tallbird away from the Nest I picked up three tallbird eggs and to Escape them I took a wormhole so cut to a few damages taken low on health and had my log suit broken decide to take the Wormhole back the same Wormhole that I used to escape what I didn't realize was that all birds were right there waiting for me and let's just say I didn't get the eat eggs for dinner (PS the main reason why I took the Wormhole back because my base was nearby the area)
I had a tallbird Fortes next to a place with lots of spieder and they keept killing each other so it was quite nice to get spieder items

Another question, what boss should I fight next? I’ve beaten all of the seasonal bosses and am on day 200 something. Should I go for dragon fly, bee queen, or ancient guardian? Or is it personal preference? Anyways thanks for the great video! :D
Are you soloing them all? Well that's an impressive feat, but I'd say to always leave ancient guardian for last, he's really a beast when singleplayer hunting

One time I was in solo and playing hamlet, I went to the BFB island and I died, want to know why? THERE WAS A TALLBIRD FORTRESS, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEY COULD SPAWN IN HAMLET.
