Corgi Chipperfield's Circus Crane Truck restoration

- In the 1960s, circuses were hugely popular, so it was no surprise that between 1960 and 1970, Corgi Toys released ten Chipperfield Circus models and four gift sets. All were produced in collaboration with the circus itself. In the video, you can turn on subtitles in your language with a commentary on the action - press the letter C on the keyboard or three dots on the mobile phone. These models turned out to be very eagerly bought, so in 1994 Corgi Classics released a new series of twelve Chipperfield circus models. Chipperfield's Circus Crane Truck No. 1121 was the first in the highly successful and highly sought-after range of Chipperfield's Circus vehicles. Its base was a large military truck, equipped with a metal crane and a hook. All models in this series were painted in Chipperfield's Circus' traditional red and blue livery. This was followed in January 1961 by the Circus Animal Cage Trailer (1123), which featured two two-part opening doors revealing a large cage with metal bars. My model was very worn. It did not have a hook and one axle with wheels. He was also missing tires. In the video, I show how I make all the missing elements from molding polyurethane and polyurethane resin. I supplemented the model with a period box. I modified its design so that - like most Corgi boxes - it was a flap box. A fortnight ago, two CHIPPERFIELD CIRCUS models were restored. It's great that the crane now also shines in its former glory 🤩
As always, a costly restoration, but it was worth it. 👍🏼 I wouldn't have thought that the crane boom was repairable. 👀 Great work, Paul, I'm thrilled. Definitely a thumbs up from me 👍🏼

Vor zwei Wochen gab es schon mal eine Restaurierung von zwei CHIPPERFIELD CIRCUS Modellen. Toll, daß nun auch der Kran im alten Glanz erstrahlt 🤩
Wie immer, eine aufwendige Restaurierung, aber es hat sich gelohnt. 👍🏼 Ich hätte nicht gedacht, daß der Kranausleger reparabel ist. 👀 Tolle Arbeit, Paul, ich bin begeistert. Ganz klar ein Daumen hoch von mir 👍🏼

restored to factory fresh condition ! the circus can go on now !🤡 I wonder how Corgi painted the raised letters when they mass produced it, if it was performed by hand, (as done by you) that may have been a very expensive process.
My Mothers first job was painting stuff like this, it was done by hand and usually at home, they got paid for each piece they completed.

Mam pytanie czy te nowe modele pojazdów kolekcjonerskie są na nowo oznaczone jako nowe modele pojazdów czy starymi oznaczeniami i czymś się różnią od starych modeli 😀😀
Na przykład teraz kiedy w Chinach firma Atlas robi redycje firmy Dinky to numery pozostają te same ,ale oczywiście na podwoziach obowiązkowo jest napis, że to jest reedycja i krajem pochodzenia są Chiny. Pozdrawiam

We always had the latest Corgi and Dinky catalogues at hand to pore over as kids. I don't recall how many Chipperfields trucks and trailers there were, but as we were into "playing cars" and not just collecting (shudder!), I couldn't figure out how one would drive a complete circus into town single-handed. And once the show had played, well, exit stage left and that was it!
I fantasized more about the RAF missile base: Fueling truck, Vanguard staff car, radar truck, portable radar unit, Bristol-Ferrante Bloodhound missile and launcher, Thunderbird missile and carrier, & a Land Rover for towing things around. Did I miss any out? Amazing what I can recall 60 years later! The whole shebang was something like CDN$10.95, an exorbitant sum ($100.00+ today!) back then for a "pile of toys you'd play with once," as the adults would sniff.

Hallo Paul, das ist eine wirklich schöne Restauration. Sieht super aus und passt zu den anderen Chipperfield Circus Modellen. Die blaue Bemalung des Chipperfield Circus Schriftzuges war aber sehr umständlich. Hast Du schon mal das Stempeldruckverfahren ausprobiert? Einfach die blaue Farbe auf ein passendes Stück glatte Alufolie sprühen oder pinseln, etwas antrocknen lassen, damit es nicht zu flüssig ist und auf die nicht zu lackierenden Teile kommt. Das Objekt dann vorsichtig darauf pressen und sofort wieder abheben. Die blaue Farbe ist auf dem Schriftzug, und zwar gestochen scharf. Das gleiche Verfahren kann man auch für Beschriftungen für Logos, Modell- oder Markennamen verwenden (die auf der Karosserie geprägt sind). Ich nehme zum Beispiel einen Stieleishölzchen, etwas Molotow Chrom Farbe darauf, kurz antrocknen lassen, dann vorsichtig auf das Logo oder die Beschriftung drücken und sofort vorsichtig wieder abziehen. Es hat bisher immer geklappt und sieht fantastisch aus. Schöne Grüße und weiter so, Deine Restaurationen sind klasse.
Vielen Dank für das Teilen dieser genialen Idee. Ich werde es auf jeden Fall versuchen. Denn ehrlich gesagt scheint es sehr einfach zu bedienen zu sein. Ich habe schon versucht, Silberfolie mit Hitze zu übertragen, dem sogenannten Heißprägen, aber diese Idee mit Farbe scheint genial zu sein. Vielen Dank und beste Grüße

Come on Paul .. I keep waiting for one video to come that never arrives! Your restoration of a Corgi James Bond Moon Buggy from Diamonds Ae Forever 1971. That would be the ultimate challenge to restore. Even your great skills might be tested, as there would be so much plastic molding from robot arms to radar scanners. It is a very detailed model and not many still around.
If he had spare parts to copy, of course he would do it very well.
Unfortunately, so far I have not been able to get the base for the renovation of this model, as soon as I get it somewhere, of course, I will renew this model. Kind regards
