- In 1974, Matchbox produced the Scammell truck with a semi-trailer carrying two containers. The model was sold for 10 years until 1984. Trucks in sets were painted in three colors: red, white and blue, and in 1983 a yellow version was also introduced as a model of the German post office. My copy had a broken container door. I bleached containers yellowed by the sun with 12% hydrogen peroxide. One wheel was also damaged. I repaired all the damage and made a copy of the box. I cleaned the original, borrowed from my German friend Peter for copying, in a graphics program. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Still have the one I got as a kid. One of the greatest toys I ever had, played with it (and other Matchbox Superkings) for years. No batteries, no chips, just plastic and metal and tons of fun.

Efekt końcowy, jak zwykle wspaniały. Do kompletu brakuje tylko dźwigu który zdejmie jeden kontener, żeby można załadować obydwa. Gdyby jeszcze kierownice zamontować po drugiej stronie to można by nią jeździć po polskich drogach.👏

Great video and restoration. I had this model when I was a child, I also had another scammel with a red cab with a gold low loader trailer. I remember playing with them and doing trailer swops as I've been truck mad since I was 4. All I've wanted to do is to be a truck driver and I've been driving artics now for 30 years!!

Ale! Naprawa drzwi kontenera jest genialna. Aby ponownie zamontować część tak malutką, że nie widać już uszkodzeń i regeneracja samego kontenera... WOW 🤩 (również naprawa wspornika przyczepy)

I almost think I can't name a personal highlight this time... The entire restoration is phenomenal.
But! The container door repair is brilliant. To reattach a part so tiny that you can no longer see the damage and the regeneration of the containers itself... WOW 🤩 (also the repair of the trailer support)

Oh my, I had the exact truck except my cab was red. My dad drove a Scammell Crusader for work in 1976. I remember us stopping once and the radiator grill was rammed with wasps, flies, ladybirds, bees, butterflies.
Always a favourite toy of mine was the Scammell Crusader container truck. You certainly did that one justice. It looked stunning when completed.

I remember these trucks very clearly, they came in a whole bunch of different versions, Scammell, Mack and Volvo (I think), the trailers could be tankers, tippers or containers like yours. Many different colurs as well. I'm not sure I ever had this one, but I did own a Texaco tanker and a red/yellow tipper.
They all had pretty good play value (especially a tipper in a sandbox), but it's pretty obvious why you've had such difficulties finding all the parts for this set, since the containers and trailer chassis are all detachable, so would easily get separated, and when resold at flea markets decades later, people often wouldn't know they belonged together.
Very nice restoration as always, there were a lot of interesting challenges along the way, like the broken wheels, yellowed plastic and warped chassis. You say the original inner tray is of "poor quality", and I agree, but wouldn't you be able to replicate it using the vacuum machine you use for windows? Poor quality or not, wouldn't really matter since it would only be used for your display anyway, so no risk of breaking.
Thank you very much, I will definitely devote several videos to this truck, the tanker will also be in them. As for the internal insert, it is of course possible to make it using the vacuum method, but the mold itself is quite expensive because it is quite a large thing. Of course, if I were to produce these inserts, I would decide to make a vacuum mold. Best regards

I have this same scammel truck, although I restored mine for my son. I never knew it was supposed to have containers so I put a flat bed on it as a car transporter idea. It’s now in his toy car box somewhere
