    A valid comparison under controlled conditions, including VOCs which Molekule advertises as a strong suit. My kind of review as opposed to "worst air purifier" or "it sucks." We own two Molekules and have been reasonably happy with them. That said, we use high efficiency filters in our HVAC system which probably remove a large percentage of particles. Thank you for the excellent product comparison.

    If I recall correctly iq air v5 gas absorption filters also use a blend of absorption media. I think charcoal, activated alumina, and zeolite are used. Activated alumina should trap inorganic gas vapors (something charcoal can’t do) and oxidizes them into simpler components. So they at lest won’t off gas inorganic compounds.

    I recently bought an EnviroKlenz based partly on this review and now need to return it. When I opened the casing to install the filters I smelled a rubber/plastic smell. When I turned on the machine it started pumping this smell into my home. Perhaps given enough time it would fully outgas this smell, but I live in a small place and don't have an isolated room to outgas it in.
    Reading Amazon and Better Business Bureau reviews after the fact I now see that I'm not the only one with this issue.
    It stinks as this does seem to be a good odor and VOC removal device.
    I do not have MCS, I'm just a person with a regular nose who likes a perfume-free house. My wife has scent-triggered migraines and needs something to get rid of the laundry and perfume smells that come from our neighbors through the shared attic/wall. We both noticed this off-gassing smell as a strong, noxious odor.

      I bought a PUR-131 a few weeks ago and it's awesome. Looks good, very easy to use, and in seems to be very effective in all the tests (although really, all these machines are basically the same inside so as long as you get one with a genuine HEPA filter you can't go wrong).

    Best air purifier tests on the internet. They are a major help for me. Still cannot decide which one to get. Do you think air purifiers can help with dust? So I don't have to vacum and wipe dust that often. Since I have two cats in a rather small flat, this is becoming a problem ^^ Maybe you want to test that, sure it would be interesting for others as well :)

    You never mention a very important factor: the generation of ozone (which is, in itself, a pollutant). Long story short, if you use UV lights you release ozone in your room. (This was the main reason why I purchased a Brid purifier. Super happy with my choice so far).

    • @ooDougMan
      @ooDougMan 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Found this on Amazon Questions,
      UVC Lights or germicidal UV are at a much more specific wavelength than what is termed “UV” broadly, which encompasses the wavelengths of 100-380 nm. UVC are low-pressure lamps, more like a fluorescent lamp, with a specific wavelength of 253.7 nm (1182.5 THz).
      To create ozone from UV, the light wavelength would need to be in the range from 160-240 nm.
      Since the EnviroKlenz Mobile Air System is UVC, it has a wavelength of 254 nm, which is outside of the ozone producing range.

    when EnviroklenZ lab tested the blue air purifier for voc removal effectiveness, it seems like they used the standard particle filters, while blue air makes “smokestop” filters which have a gas absorbing media added and would be much more effective in voc reduction. @R99pinball We need a real world test not just some chart claiming something. Molecule had a chart claiming something and SURPRISE it was fake stats.

    The problem with all these filters is the production of oxidizers/ozone which are irritants which defeats the purpose of “air purifying” or rather better air quality.

    Enviroklenz looks like some crappy server-box from 90s and its quality of the box is pretty mediocre... But it works. Molekule on the other hand looks great, but works like shit.

    Bipolar ionization is a better technology that would actually suit peoples needs far better than HEPA filters, which don't have high flow. Most people just need a simple, inexpensive Merv 8 AC filter to eliminate allergens.
