I got a Xaomi Pro air purifier about 2 months ago, it has HEPA filter as recommended and I change it once a month. And let me tell you guys, it made a HUGE difference in indoor air quality. I suffer from atopic dermatitis and dust particles would make my skin flare up all the time, I also live in an extremely polluted city and oppening windows is a big no no. Since using the air purifier the amount of dust in my house has drastically gone down, before it would take only a day and you can see visible layer of dust on surfaces especially glass desks, after the filter has been on for 8h a day it now takes 6-7 days for the same amount of dust to collect. In general it is also so much easier to breathe in the house now and I dont feel sleepy or nauseated as much any more. If you can, get a HEPA air purifier as soon as possible and you will drastically improve your life quality.

We use same testing procedures for environmental monitoring in pharma clean rooms. An air purifier may be enough for most people, if you're not extremely nit picky with these things. However, the air won't be truly clean with an air purifier for a couple reasons: 1. To be as clean as clean room, the pressure has to be high inside the room, and it forms like a strong pocket of air which acts like a bubble...it bumps off particles from the outside. This is something homes won't be able to do, nor feasible to apply. 2. Your body is constantly shedding skin or other particles, and most of dust is actually made up of that. In a clean room, this is mitigated from wearing whole body suits, masks and other coveralls. Pharma clean rooms have to change in another room with different pressure to bump off particles, before going into main clean room. In semiconductor fabs and other electronic factory clean rooms, the worker has to go through a walkway where there is a air stream to brush off any other particles prior to entering the clean room. You must do the same procedures when exiting, to ensure no other particles enter when you leave the main clean room.
I bought an air purifier which within two weeks became noisy and also wasn't cleaning the air anymore, apparently pushing the dirt which was stuck in the filter back into the air.
Masks with a vent that was worn by the professor towards the end of the video actually does not protect those around him from the respiratory droplets, it can still go through the vents
yes but before consider one, get a reputable vacuum cleaner with hepa filtration for daily cleaning. it takes out majority of the indoor particles while cleaning at the same time. absurd thing about most air purifiers as they are usually passive, releasing the clean air haphazardly throughout the room whereas it should be directed to a person so that the advantages is immediate and efficient. Dyson has a product that address this but is rather too small and too expensive.
I bought 2 purifiers with HEPA 14, but even with new filter there particles from purifier that I can see with green laser. So it sort of kicks up dust in the air until some of it will be purified by filter or lungs.
Some of the particles are too heavy to be airborne, thus the air purifier mostly unable to pick it up. Example hair, dead skin or animal's fur. The best way is to clean it often. And also always make sure that your home is having a good ventilation all around.
Much worse because there's nothing to contain the dust at all. Good, sealed vacuums come with HEPA filters so the only way the air gets out is through the filter.

Great question! NASA did research on this topic and they have a list of the best air purifying plants, I believe the ones that rated highest are also some of the easiest to take care of.
I'm still not sold on whether air purifiers work though, one instance of a small reduction here in this video, and it only halved the particle levels, instead of removing 99.5% of them as most of them claim
Its much better than having 100% dusty air in the room, it does works but in a confine room with nothing, (lab test) But definitely not in a normal room with humans who also contribute to pollutions with our dead cells. As the lady enters the room, she too brought in a bunch of fine dusts from the outsides which may affect the test itself so, something you should also consider.
@@dxfvgyhjh I tried a Swiss IQ Air purifier since watching this video, it worked really well for a week and the air in the room smelt sweet. Then it went back to polluted again. My other issue is Air Purifier and/or Air Humidifier, so many seem to get this wrong, and buy a humidifier and purifier in one? surely humidifier is not what you want in a humid country already and its not good for electronics?

I hope Talking Point would go in to childcare centers doing their indoor air standards...Especially in CoVid19 period as most childcare centers shut their doors and windows and limit children go outdoors.
I have a TVOC sensor at home, and trust me, it spikes way more often than you think. Bought some new electronics? Open the box and a spike occurs. Opened some whiskey? spike. Mopping the floor? Spike. We're all gonna die.
Also opening windows kinda only works if the air outside is cleaner. Same conclusion though, we're all gonna die. 😅
Lollllllll I love this. Where’s my threshold. Does it even matter? I work outside. 😤
i like the end bit of the vid where they showed a Honeywell 18000 model! I'm using a Honeywell 17000 & it works wonders
so what brand did they use for the test?
LG
The model featured is Purlifeco Airclear360, while the other model used by host seems to be Honeywell 18250.
is there any modification we can do to reduce the tiny particle came out from regular vacuum?
does some plants clean air as well? like snakeplants and zz plants etc?
Great question! NASA did research on this topic and they have a list of the best air purifying plants, I believe the ones that rated highest are also some of the easiest to take care of.
I'm still not sold on whether air purifiers work though, one instance of a small reduction here in this video, and it only halved the particle levels, instead of removing 99.5% of them as most of them claim
Its much better than having 100% dusty air in the room, it does works but in a confine room with nothing, (lab test) But definitely not in a normal room with humans who also contribute to pollutions with our dead cells. As the lady enters the room, she too brought in a bunch of fine dusts from the outsides which may affect the test itself so, something you should also consider.
keep in mind that those values changed only in 1hr imagine 1 week
@@dxfvgyhjh I tried a Swiss IQ Air purifier since watching this video, it worked really well for a week and the air in the room smelt sweet. Then it went back to polluted again. The room doesn't have mould or any other major pollutants in it. Called the company up they said the filters might need replacing. I asked how much it would cost. They said 800$.
Conclusion- air purifiers are just glorified fans. Unless you remove the source of the pollutants, in which case you didn't need a purifier anyway, they don't address the cause of the problem.

How did you know it went polluted again?
That's just your experience with one bad seller you have to investigate a bit before buying one it's not that easy. There are things you need to take into account:
hepa filter (h12 and more)
carbon filter (gas and smaller particles)
washable pre-filter (to extend hepa lifespan which approx is 1yr)
Clean Air Delivery Rate
Power efficency
Noise output
Filter available with multiple retailers not just the seller company.
I have asthma which recently kicked back in so other than a tidy room i need to know the air that's the main thing after all for me.
@@dxfvgyhjh I have tried four well-reviewed purifiers, this one the most expensive. They all did the same thing, work well for a short period (3-5 days) then the room became unhealthy again, and told to change the filters. I trust my experience over what people tell me
Don’t be cheap. If it is certified and passes all levels of qualifications…spend the money on your health. Dust and vacuum often and keep a fan on too. Circulation is key and make sure it’s HEPA13
What is ventilation when factory 🏭 & vehicle 🚜 smokes & gases could come in through your windows?
I have a blue air and love it
Well done, answered a LOT of questions for me. Thank you very much
I wonder if the results would have improved, if the test was done after running the HEPA purifier for 2 hours?
Why u are using an old 1970 mercz?
Very helpful. Thank you!
So it did not removed 99.9% as what it claimed.. but nonetheless the result clearly shows it’s helping!
No mention of use of indoor plants. I was looking for that.
Y'alls accent sounds interesting
Almost like island vibes
Nonetheless, the video was informative
Could u recommend a brand that is good
Some of the points are quite off. Our air conditioner has a HEPA filter too, and we have an HRV so there's no issues with recirculating air.
had been using two Sharp Plasmacluster ,with water and the without for seven years, no asthma since, I have twelve cats in my house
how about Sharp Plasmacluster technology? will cause harm too?
Yeh and there are so many places sadly that can not get good air from outside, and if so its a cooking area, or corridor.
How do u clean these filters? or is it easier to just buy a new filter, also how much to replace.
What is a good model to have for a small room of 2.5 X 2.5 SQM - Lazada - does more price always mean good?
My other issue is Air Purifier and/or Air Humidifier, so many seem to get this wrong, and buy a humidifier and purifier in one? surely humidifier is not what you want in a humid country already and its not good for electronics?
Not related to the video but does anyone know what's his car model? They interior looks classic
I got on sale for Black Friday a Dyson air purifier heater/fan. A slightly newer version that tells you what the air quality is, great if you live in wildfire areas, as it changes sold out. They carry a very expensive version that also removes gases such as formaldehyde too. It helps my allergies and the breathing of my cat too who was born with respiratory problems.
it should also be mentioned about our biggest and natural friend of air quality - plants, i bought some oxygen-efficient plants for my caravan specifically for better air and more oxygen, as i cant have open windows when sleeping
Great video using knowledgeable experts. What I don't understand is why anyone would use suspense music like that. What is this, a tamil drama show?
IQAIR has the best filtration in the business.
Blue Air just as good and cheaper check review and award sites
Wow, it's like TH-cam knows what I'm looking for !. Well, I have my old air purifier at home and this main function is to eliminate my pet odors. And fan really can trap thick dust, I always clean my fan every week.
Re cleaner air..am mixing few drops of Lysol for every liter of water am placing inside a gallon sized pail. I put it in corners where air passes through..its just like disinfecting the room
I am starting to see why vasthu sasthra is absalitly necessary for home design
The fundamental word is ventilation.
Can someone please tell me what air purifier this is? thank you so much
Hi. Need your comment on negative charged ion purifier for car.
Its not just a vlog, its scientific and has basis.
Who would've thought an "air purifier" purified the air crazy
Big Thanks from the US friend 😊
Very well done on the video!! I’ve been thinking about getting an AP. No matter how much cleaning I do, there’s always dust and cat/dog hair. Our 3 cats and 1 golden retriever doesn’t help lol can’t wait for it to come in!!
Did you end up getting it? How much difference did you notice?
ya would be quite interesting to hear your feedback
How is it now? Was it effective ?
Please make / test on humidifier and dehumidifier also, they are equally important..
Deep cleaning your house does wonders to air. But thats alot of work to do. Took my family 2 days to clean house
just curious what brand air purifier is this ?
very informative thank you
im alittle smarter now 👍🏼
Extremely informative! Thank you!
Awesome video very informative, I would like to know if plasma cluster ion technology is beneficial provided by sharp air purifiers
