Hey, I just got the new Blue Air 211+ auto air purifier. Got it today June 29th 2022. I have major mold allergies and some others. I’m now living in a 50 year old senior housing apartment complex. Air quality sucks big time. So my allergies and mild asthma acts up big time. As soon as I plugged this in, I noticed a big difference in air quality in my studio apartment. You are so right whisper quiet. With the new one you set it on auto setting, it automatically adjusts to air quality. I’m going to get the 411 model to put in bedroom area and kitchen.
Awsome, thanks I am a trucker. I am hoping this will give some cleaner air! I will probably clean ever 3 months as i get heave dust in here. Thanks again!
I also did a lot of research and bought the exact same filter. I’ve had it for over a year and I’m delighted with it. It’s really good, so much better than I thought it would be. I leave mine on the lowest setting 24/7 next to my bed and you CANNOT hear it. If the rooms stinky, in the time it takes to have a shower if it’s left on full when I’m back in the room the smells all gone. Anyway, I totally agree with your experience. Cheers.
Best you can buy and I’m not affiliated with nothing. I bought mine as it has best air cleaning levels per size of med room and it is the best on electricity use. I have mine on 24/7 and costs but less than a light bulb to run….

I got that crystal clear air fresh air feeling every time i walk in my room, soon as i open the door to my room light goes red and start working immediately,
I’m finding that the filters don’t last as long as advertised because the carbon inside starts to smell from all the impurities it captured after about 2-3 months. That unpleasant captured odor is then blown back into the air which defeats the purpose of an air purifier. There’s a reason most purifiers have a separate carbon filter that you are prompted to replace every three months, leaving the HEPA filter to do its job for another three months or longer before it need replacing also. I wish I knew that before I purchased 4 Blueair products. The only solution I discovered is to rip out the glued-on carbon filter once it starts to smell. You haven’t noticed an unpleasant odor after a relatively short amount of time?
I have not had any issues with that. Make sure you buy the filters from BLU and not one of the many places that sell their versions, that’s the only times I have heard about that issue. I’ve had mine for a few years now and my filters last about 3-4 months but should be replaced regularly anyway on any air purifier. Sorry your experiencing that, it hasn’t been my experience though 🙂

The Blueair 411 is a good unit for physical contaminants (ex. dust) in smaller rooms (160 sq. ft. x 8 ft. ceilings = 1,288 cubic ft.) at a very reasonable price. Pretty good choice.
@@nayhtoo141 IMO, Blueair is good at making 'good looking' air purifiers that are pretty 'quiet' and I think they are 'decent' for particulates. It says the 511 filters at a HEPA level on Amazon - but I seriously doubt it. Esp. for $99. Most air purifiers that say "HEPA" don't actually filter at a HEPA level (even much more expensive units). All that said - I think it will be decent for particulates but I'd personally go with the Coway Mighty or Winix 5500 if I was the one breathing the air... but that's just my opinion - Thanks and Good Luck! 😄
For Mold.... I would currently only trust the IQAir HealthPro Plus and then maybe the Aeris 3 in 1 (soon to be called the Klaara P7 Pro and available in the US in 2024). Next level down, I'd look at an AirPura Super Hepa and/or maybe a Camfil City M (this may be a great unit but I'm not sure yet). I currently run an IQAir HPP in my familyroom and an Aeris 3 in 1 in my bedroom. Thanks! @@martinvachon3833
I got the blueair 311i max and when i first used it the light went red ( very polluted) and took 20 minutes to a blue light ( excellent air). But when i tested it at a friend's apartment ( 90 minutes) who smokes the light stayed blue ( excellent) air quality) ! Doesnt make sense
I am moving into a new apartment that doesn't allow smoking. I smoke but do not want to get caught. So, I will restrict my smoking to the bathroom; keep the door shut and the filter on. Is it possible to keep the smell of the smoke from going outside the apartment. with this filter? I noticed that many of the filters can only trap particles down to .3 microns but the Blue traps VOCS down to .1. Which would be in the range of smoke. How do you feel about adding additional anti-smoke products like the candles and gels?
I do not smoke, but I do burn candles almost daily and have not noticed any problems with the Blu. The filter on my HVAC unit also catches a lot of these particles, so between the filter on your heating / cooling unit and the Blu you may be good. There are also bigger air purifiers offered by Blu that cover more space, so they may be worth looking into for your situation. Hope this helps :)
@@NReluctant Thank you for your reply. The bathroom is small. So, you're saying if I get a unit that covers more area, it will be more effective in a smaller area?
@@matthewpaolini that would be my guess, the one I have covers my living room really well and it is about 4 times as big as most bathrooms, so you’d probably be good with it.
@@matthewpaolini I did a lot of research when I decided to get this one and it has been the only one I have really tested and used extensively. I don't think you can go wrong with this one.
Yep, it runs 24/7 on the low setting and still works great. I had one at work that I accidentally kept knocking over and after like 20 times being knocked over the lights stopped working on the top but the device itself still works. The one I use at home has never had any issues and I also haven’t knocked it over yet 😁
Thank you I've now made my mind up and I will buy a blue air after all the research and you advice especial the part about power use and quiet running.
I’m the same way, honestly it’s a good product and they come with a warranty so make sure to register yours when it arrives because their customer support is amazing if you ever need them🙂
Thank you for this review! I'm trying to decide for the most affordable/practical purifier to get and this just confirms my decision. And the energy consumption is indeed one thing that is usually being missed. So it's a plus!
I bought the Shark one wirh 4 fans. I like it but the filters to replace are a 100.00 bucks. Woo I just bought a replament one. I am thinking of getting this one due to the cost to replace them. The main reason I want one. I keep it by my kitchen going into my livingroom. I want one to get out cooking smells I am weired like that. The Shark will reve up and clean it up pretty fast. Will this one do the same? The Shark works really well at getting smells out.
If you order it from the link in the video description then they offer return and exchange options. I’m still using mine every single day, I think you’ll like it 🙂
@@NReluctant I already own a unit but I was wondering if they offered some kind of trade-in option where you could send your older unit and pay the difference for the newer model.
A pet peeve about fan reviews is the quietness - they don't measure how much air the fan is pulling/pushing. A rule of thumb for most fans of the same size/type/power is the quieter it is the less air it moves.
Thanks! I am convinced. Although I am a bit sceptic as my 4yrs old 480i sounds like an airplane ... it did already after two years. (I don't know if it's the motor or the fan that got out of balance... )
Yes it does emit ozone as it has small ionizer. That why their filters are cheaper since doesn't use HEPA filter. They don't produce dangerous or concerning levels of ozone. I have read some reviews that people get sore throats when using the blueair purifiers. I have seen images of the purifiers from reviews having dirt particles sticking to outside of the case that a sign it's releasing ozone to the air.
@@ChiefBrianIrons Thanks for information Brian ,can you also confirm if we can manually disable the ionizer by cutting it's wiring inside the purifier ?
@@pkd2411 I have no clue sorry but if you did disabled it you have effectively just reduced the efficiency of the purifier as it used to kill mould and VOC in the air. Also it might not work if disabled. If you not getting any issues with chest pain, coughing, throat irritation, and congestion. If you not seeing dirty black stains on outside case then it's emitting very low level of ozone into air. Personally still doing research into buying air purifier for myself but I am 100% certain not buying one that emits ozone even if mean sending more money on filters for air purifiers that don't emit ozone.
Seems like it collects quite a few dust and pet dander so it works but I have the Blue 411+ and it seems it doesn't work with certain smells. I mean my family already knows I smoke special herbs but the smell is troublesome. Seems like I'll have to buy 2 more of the same even though my room is small.
We recently adopted two rescue dogs and one of them is too nervous around people to be groomed right now. So we wanted an air purifier to keep the house smelling fresh with all the additional dander and dog hair (the iLife v3s was much better than our old roomba for dog hair btw) - the blue air 211+ worked really well for us. We actually ended up getting a second one for upstairs because it made the downstairs air feel so much fresher.
Make sure you or your kids don’t start mouth breathing as a result of allergies! Look into how harmful this can be and the affects especially for children’s facial development.
No it isn't, but they day that they emit very low levels. All electrostatic filters emit ozone. Sometime ask google instead of some guy in the comment section.
@@Justin-jy6fu To a point, this guy is right. However at 0.05 parts per billion it is negligible. That's like Elon Musk dropping a penny, he ain't picking that up.

The Airmega 300 has a score of 59, and the Airmega 200M has one of 55 on Consumer Reports. According to CR, they grossly underperform on low settings. And then there's this: th-cam.com/video/VM9CJZpqfpA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this review. What do you think about their new models with Silent HEPA. I'm trying to find out if their HEPA is as good as True HEPA but it's hard.
@@NReluctant Blue Air is very vague about what they mean with "SilentHEPA". They have expensive purifiers that use high-voltage electrodes upstream of the filter, which achieve HEPA-like performance with cheaper filter material and lower electricity usage. But the Pure product line doesn't use this. HEPA for portable air filters (that blow purified air into a room with still dirty air) doesn't really have much added value, though.

The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
I got the 411 AUTO today, it looks a little different than yours. Looks like you’ve had yours about seven months have you had to change the filter yet? Also since the bottom has no protection over the HEPA filter I’m worried I might accidentally walk into it and completely crush the cone HEPA filter lol
I have had to replace the filter on mine once, I could definitely see where it was a different color from the new one and noticed how big of a difference it really has made. I keep mine off to the side of the room and have not had any issues running into it, the filter is actually pretty sturdy and flexible so even if you did I don’t think he would break it. what’s your opinion on the 511? it says it’s good for rooms of 180 sq feet. my room is 11x15 (165).
how good for mold?
For Mold.... I would currently only trust the IQAir HealthPro Plus and then maybe the Aeris 3 in 1 (soon to be called the Klaara P7 Pro and available in the US in 2024). Next level down, I'd look at an AirPura Super Hepa and/or maybe a Camfil City M (this may be a great unit but I'm not sure yet). I currently run an IQAir HPP in my familyroom and an Aeris 3 in 1 in my bedroom. Thanks! @@martinvachon3833
I just got the 411 auto and the carbon filter smells a bit.. does this go away with time?
Yes it’s probably the carbon filter but that will go away quickly in my experience.
Brand new and it STINKS. The air in my home smelled nice. Now, it STANKS after running this system a few days. What to do?
I got the blueair 311i max and when i first used it the light went red ( very polluted) and took 20 minutes to a blue light ( excellent air).
But when i tested it at a friend's apartment ( 90 minutes) who smokes the light stayed blue ( excellent) air quality) !
Doesnt make sense
I had this issue too. I reported it back to the company who refused to admit it wasn't working properly... Did you send it back/ get a refund?
@@NReluctant Can you recommend any other budget friendly filters?
@@matthewpaolini that would be my guess, the one I have covers my living room really well and it is about 4 times as big as most bathrooms, so you’d probably be good with it.
@@matthewpaolini I did a lot of research when I decided to get this one and it has been the only one I have really tested and used extensively. I don't think you can go wrong with this one.
Any comments on the ozone generated from BA purifiers?
I own the dyson cool/heat fan and 2 blueair and I must say I absolutely love the blueair cleaners
Does it still run? 2/3 of mine quit Turing on after less than a year.
Yep, it runs 24/7 on the low setting and still works great. I had one at work that I accidentally kept knocking over and after like 20 times being knocked over the lights stopped working on the top but the device itself still works. The one I use at home has never had any issues and I also haven’t knocked it over yet 😁
Would you recommend for dog dander? If not , what would you recommend for that’ specific allergy?
Does the electrostatic technology in the 3250i model produce ions? The info online is so confusing.
thank you but do you test the rainbow srx air purifier? this machine is the best , nothing can compare vs Rainbow SRX water based air purifier.
Thank you I've now made my mind up and I will buy a blue air after all the research and you advice especial the part about power use and quiet running.
I’m the same way, honestly it’s a good product and they come with a warranty so make sure to register yours when it arrives because their customer support is amazing if you ever need them🙂
Do you run this at high? I can only run it at medium because high is too loud.
Does it get rid of the smell of weed, not asking necessarily about smell of the smoke just the buds
put you're weed in mason jars
We have this air purifier and the 211+, we love the Blue Air products.
Thank you for this review! I'm trying to decide for the most affordable/practical purifier to get and this just confirms my decision. And the energy consumption is indeed one thing that is usually being missed. So it's a plus!
The cheap ones are often not that good and just is a waste of money. If you are going to buy one I should at least spend $200
This is a really good filter. I have the same one.
Does it get rid of dust too? I have an aid purifier but my room is still dusty.
I have a lot less dust in my house and when I change the filter out I can actually see dust in it, so I would say yes :)
@@NReluctant thanks i bought the Xiaomi, filters look dusty too but I can still see dust settling on tables.
Can you do an update? Often these types of devices start to make loud noises or stop working that well. What about the filter cost?
Still using it daily, all day. I have not had any issues and the filters are pretty reasonable in my opinion.
Update ??
What about now, a year later. Still good?
Thank you for this thorough review!

You said early-on in the video that if you weren’t satisfied with the air purifier, you could exchange it. How does this work?
If you order it from the link in the video description then they offer return and exchange options. I’m still using mine every single day, I think you’ll like it 🙂
@@NReluctant I already own a unit but I was wondering if they offered some kind of trade-in option where you could send your older unit and pay the difference for the newer model.
@@FMcrow020 Not that I know of, that would be great though if they did!
A pet peeve about fan reviews is the quietness - they don't measure how much air the fan is pulling/pushing. A rule of thumb for most fans of the same size/type/power is the quieter it is the less air it moves.
It was noticeable after 1 day of use, how fewer visible dust particles were floating around my living room.
So anyone here have the 311
I am thinking of getting one
Do you recommend it, i have 2 cats
Thanks
Thanks! I am convinced. Although I am a bit sceptic as my 4yrs old 480i sounds like an airplane ... it did already after two years. (I don't know if it's the motor or the fan that got out of balance... )
what's a good budget one for my desk?
I would get the 411 auto, but it goes on the floor next to your desk. Company will tell you on the phone, you don’t raise it, put it on table.
How much does it reduce dust buildup in an entire bedroom
Quite a bit, it’s great for bedrooms because they are usually smaller enclosed spaces. I found that it works really well even in bigger rooms though.
I just purchased their Joy S version since I need it only for my bedroom. Hopefully, it will be great as expected :)
We picked up 2 the other we got a 75 dollar each because of a rebate and the were on sale . And we love them
Does it release ozone ?
I wonder why no one answer this question . I have the exact same question.
I have had mine 2 months and ❤️ bought another for my upstairs
We recently adopted two rescue dogs and one of them is too nervous around people to be groomed right now. So we wanted an air purifier to keep the house smelling fresh with all the additional dander and dog hair (the iLife v3s was much better than our old roomba for dog hair btw) - the blue air 211+ worked really well for us. We actually ended up getting a second one for upstairs because it made the downstairs air feel so much fresher.
What speed do you run the 211+ at?
@@ruthlessluder 90% of the time low. Occasionally medium. We've never had to run it on high so far.
Make sure you or your kids don’t start mouth breathing as a result of allergies! Look into how harmful this can be and the affects especially for children’s facial development.
When I change my filter I can SEE that it’s working.
@@natalieboyer3859 absolutely! It’s crazy the difference in a new filter and one that is needing replaced.
Is Blue Air ozone-free?
Yes as it uses a HEPA filter and non ionizing
No it isn't, but they day that they emit very low levels. All electrostatic filters emit ozone. Sometime ask google instead of some guy in the comment section.
@@Justin-jy6fu To a point, this guy is right. However at 0.05 parts per billion it is negligible. That's like Elon Musk dropping a penny, he ain't picking that up.
Or simply put, 1 part in 20 billion parts. So technically, It's Elon Musk dropping $13 out of his $260 billion dollar wealth at the time of writing this comment. For the sake of being accurate.
@@OurCommunityYouth LOL Before or after the market going down the toilet :)
Where is the filter? Doesn't seem to even have one inside.
My experience is that the machines aren't good at chemical VOC removal. The company is a nightmare to deal with. Rubbish customer service and no responsibility taken for products that fail to meet the advertised standards.
what about the ozone produced by ionization? i research too and dont wanna spend $75 for a scam "as seen on TV" style but aliexpress china sweatshop 21st century style, like nestle's blood cocoa
Mine works great and a news channel even did a test and found it to clean the air more than most of the really big names, so I’m not sure about the other stuff you said. Just from personal experience it is great for me at cleaning the air in my house.
It's literally under the 5 PPB required for the zero ozone certification, which is of course under the 50PPB required for the California CARB certification(California being notoriously stringent on their certifications). For example, you'd get more ozone sitting next to a blender or your hvac system. Or opening a window. Or walking outside.
what about the coway airmega?
The Airmega 300 has a score of 59, and the Airmega 200M has one of 55 on Consumer Reports. According to CR, they grossly underperform on low settings. I tend to take CR's scores with a grain of salt, but it's often a bad sign when the scores are that low. The Blueair Blue Pure 411 Auto has a score of 33... And then there's this:

I like the fresh room in a holiday- description.
Thank you for this review. What do you think about their new models with Silent HEPA. I'm trying to find out if their HEPA is as good as True HEPA but it's hard.
I believe I have the Silent HEPA. If that’s the case I love it.
@@hankwangn I’m not sure you actually have used one before. It does that at first when you turn it on as the sensor checks the air quality.
It's normal, just checking air quality. It stops on blue to say the quality is good

with the charcoal filter + Hepa should do the trick you input would much

It would definitely be worth trying, like I said everyone who enters my house says that they can tell a difference in the air quality.
Ciggarette smoke leaves houses and casinos smelling. I switched to vapor but i been using the blue air purifier for about four years.. i would say it probably wont remove the smell entirely because cigarettes are super strong. if it were other things then yeah or if you were to take hits from a tobacco pipe then probably there wouldn't be a smell. i use a candles for that just don't place it near the filter lol
We got this purifier because our neighbour chain smokes and it comes through our floorboards and honestly despite the purifier the smell still hangs around, we have it on permanently and it definitely makes a difference and the air is better but the stale smoke smell still there..but not as bad..
I don't see the link????

If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one.
