The game has honestly never felt better in my opinion - the skins this season are absolutely amazing! And to top it all off the devs are finally considering adding mouse and keyboard native support to Console which is going to be a dream come true for me! 😍🥳❤

I must stress this: New Heroes used to get 2 Epics and 4 Legendary skins, 3-4 highlight intros, etc. Sad to see them do this. Venture would have been more exciting if they actually had skins and whatnot.
This is my least favourite new trend, Mauga was bad enough but it’s so sad to see how little Venture has.
Or if the theme this season was more related to them. Like an Egyptian theme.

Considering the way skins are released now instead of it being through events it's now all in the BP so they put more work towards those BP skins so new hero's don't launch with any because they're likely to get a skin in the future
$70 dollars should unlock all the content, all skins lines, poses, sprays ect. That is the price for a full AAA game.
Ok Im up for critizing overwatch monetization but why are we complaining about mythic skin prices when you can just get enough tokens from the 10 dollar battle pass and just play the video game for the skin. This price literally only hurts lazy rich people, its like the only group of people who can take heavy monetization. Thats like getting mad at rich people taxes being higher than yours.
@@fatnootz3466 I couldn't get the Sigma skin due to irl problems. Now that it's here it pisses me off that I have to either get the Mercy skin (which they could've just left in the battle pass) or get Sigmas mythic.

@@TheUnseenKrab You can just buy the battlepass for 7x less just do it. It gives you enough coins to get the sigma mythic and all its variations + all the cosmetics this season + a bunch of coins that you can use to afford the next battlepass (if you have at least like 300 coins alreadt, if not that youd be able to afford another a battle pass in 2 seasons instead). For a f2p game and especially considering what it was before, its a great deal. Two battle pass worth of cosmetics + 2 mythics worth of coins for the low price of 10 dollars and a medium amount of want to play the game.

Why is no one speaking about how they have been constantly reducing the release content that comes with new characters. Mauga was first including no creidts skins, and again with Venture who has even less cosmetics in the area of the other stuff like hightlight intros or emotes. Also there is still no way to unlock the content from previous BPs even if you bought them but werent able to complete it

It’s lame that they got rid of legendary skins on release for characters. It feels very out of place. It’s gonna suck ass later down the line. Specifically because blizzard is already playing favorites when it comes to what characters receive cosmetics. Kiriko basically gets a skin, either in the shop or battle pass every season. Sojourn doesn’t. Baptiste doesn’t. Certain characters are gonna get cosmetics up the ass while others aren’t gonna get shit. Lame.
Ngl It kinda annoys me that Mauga and Venture didn’t get any Legendary or Epic skins when literally every other character got at least 2 each. Also want a second season like this for the other characters that were left out of these store rotations/ BP. Hopefully we get Moira, Sig, Soldier and Reaper next time. Also also, I want archives back. It’s technically been 2 years since it was last available (by itself) and since they canceled PvE they could just let us play with the old, already finished PvE. All the characters are exactly the same except Cass’ grenade and Winston’s secondary fire
Im really tired of people just nodding at how greedy blizzard became. I got my account resetted due to some error, I can't even earn the legacy skins anymore. They cost over 1million legacy credits, and they only allow us to earn 3000-ish per season (that comes out as 50 credits a day). I hate it, I want my old account back, I want OW1 back

My biggest issue is the lack of XP from the challenges now. I used to complete the battle pass so quickly because I would complete all of them. Now, I barely made it 21 levels in. It’s so slow and not rewarding.

What lack of XP? If you mean the weekly challenges then it didn't change much. You used to get up to 55k XP (11 challenges 5k each) a week, now it's 50k (5 challenges 5k each and additional 25k for completing 5 out of 6 weeklies). The amount of full battle pass tiers from weekly challenges only remains 5. Maybe it feels slower because there's been no event = no XP from event challenges, but that changes on Tuesday (until you finish all of those by the end of the week and it slows down again until mid season lmao).

What boils my blood is how they micromanage this game. Season 9 gave you TONS of xp just for playing, then devs come out and say “There’s more ways for you to earn xp”, but then they REDUCE the amount of xp it takes to level up, which is aggravating.
This game dev has proven they thrive on the aggravation of their fanbase. It’s time to start demanding better from game devs or outright taking our wallets towards games that actually respect our time and money.
What would warrant spending any money in overwatch tho?
The skins are all mediocre and it's a 1st person shooter so it's not like you can see your skin anyway.
That’s the thing, skins are the only thing enjoyable, with the potential of this game taking these unique heroes to a better form of a game that embodies their talents.
Unfortunately, all this is is a first person shooter with microtransactions and a manipulation of talented writers and artists, nothing more.
Can we talk about the 30 second lackluster “hero story” apparently replacing the origin stories? Have they just given up entirely?

For the voice lines for mercy, they can always change and add stuff later. I mean, dies ever one forget that the sigma skin didn't have any unquie voice lines till later in the season 4.

I'm up in arms about Mercy's voice lines not being complete enough. An Evil Mercy must be EVIL, with no trace of Mercy given.
A battle pass buff we get coins in the damn thing should have been there since day 1.
I think this season is pretty fun. I love venture, Clash is really fun (even though i despise open queue), the new skins are all great, and I’m REALLY looking towards Mirrorwatch. The only meh thing about this season is the balance, didn’t really give us anything too impactful. I think Tracer’s damage should’ve been nerfed instead of Recall cooldown, Orisa still hasn’t been nerfed, and Reinhardt needs WAY more than just a shatter buff.
you can get Clash in QP Role Queue once in a while
I can't speak for everyone else but my favorite thing about clash is that when it's a very bad matchup and the other team is stomping you. The game can be over in what feels like 30 seconds but when the game is evenly matched it takes longer and is more of a back and forth which means more time I good matched and less time in bad matchups

For the Hanzo and Kiriko more than likely the effects might make them legendary, but we don’t know yet. If their ults are different then they will be considered legendary that or new voice lines for being reverse skins. We shall see when they come out. Also I was sad to see venture not get any real skins on release and I do hope they don’t make that a common thing for ever new hero from here on out.
in conclusion: Free stuff for people who barely play the game and reduced stuff for people who enjoy the game and play it/spend money

4:45 The issue with the Mythic shop is that they are trying to create artifical value in the Battlepass. Thus creating FOMO which in itself is a really bad thing, you should never feel forced to play a game. But they are trying to funnel people towards buying the overpriced level skips as well.
To me it's clear what the best format is for a Battlepass from a player perspective: Always being able to buy a Battlepass and certainly not having it expire once you paid for it. But yeah Blizzard will never do it because than they can sell a lot less stuff.
Yeah this will be first battlepass im not getting, and seeing their monetization tactics now, i def wont be buying anymore coins in the future. Sad but i feel like ive lost interest in the game and just playing a couple games a week now to pass the time. Probably be done with it for good pretty soon

I've already seen so many whales that either bought tier skips or bought mythic prisms to get the Mercy skin, they knew what they were doing lmao
With the old weekly challenges you can get 65.000 xp (5.000 xp * 13 weekly challenges). Now you will earn 55.000 xp (5.000 xp * 6 weekly challenges + 25.000 xp).
The 25.000 xp replaces the 60 overwatch coins per week.
Oh okay, when you put it in context like that it actually doesn't seem so bad. It's literally just 1 level less. Still a nerf of course, but not as big of a one as it seems on the surface.
This whole season feels like a test to see what Blizzard can get away with in terms of content and the quality of it. I hope future seasons don’t feel like this but it’s Blizzard so they’ll do anything for money. I miss overwatch 1😭
Wait, I really don't get the "bad side" of the BP.
Before we had 60 coins per week on seasons 9 weeks long (so 540 coins). Now we get 600, so more coins.
The exp is the same per level, and now we have weekly challenges giving exp on top of that, amounting to easier BP levels.
We now can get the coins playing whatever we want, not a specific challenge, wasting less time to get them.
The BP can be done at whatever moment you want, not being restricted to 60 coins per week, so you can grind them at the beginning, so more flexibility with its use.
I really don't see where is the downside on the change...
I have the same opinion. Also the reduction of weekly changes isn´t so bad in my eyes because they removed all the challenges which are mostly done with specific roles but if you are not that interested in playing Support for example some of these challenges would be very dfficult to complete. With the challenges we have now you can simply play any mode you want and any hero you want without feeling restricted in the way you´re playing. Overall I think the changes to the BP and weekly challenges are good.
@@93Chowo That's not entirely true, you can't just play any mode, to unlock the 5/5 weekly challenges and get the final exp reward you have to play specific modes, if you don't play comp or open queue like me, you can't complete the fifth challenge because they removed the others. So they removed the role specific challenges but kept the mode specific ones, still limiting.
@@LeGabboi Only if you intend of completing EVERY challenge. Otherwise you at least can get two bonuses by just playing quickplay, arcade and gauntlet. When it was for coins I admit that I tried to do as many challenges as possible but now that it´s only for BP-EXP I just do it when I feel like it as just playing and doing daily challenges will fill up the BP sooner or later.
Well in order to put coins in the bp i assume they replaced things already in the bp at that level? If they replaced souvenirs then fair enough.
I think it likely that the reason why they held off on releasing any venture skins with their release is the upcoming Egyptian themed battlepass, I think there’s a pretty good chance venture would get a battlepass skin then. I mean it makes sense with their whole background.
Now I don’t know if this is a great idea but what about additions to old mythic skins like for example sigma getting a new style for his balls or cyber demon genji a new style for his sword so that prisms can actually be useful then put mythic skins back into the battle pass (like I mean is since mercy isn’t in the battle pass but for future mythic skins)

Too many currencies takin up space in the BP giving us less content, I hope this ain’t the new norm. Currencies like credits takin up entire spaces on their own is just ridiculous I’d rather have a souvenir take up the space alongside some credits lol

Exactly on your side regarding venture being a such flat feeling release. I feel like Blizzard is trivialising the effect of teasing a new hero. Back then they put a few days before release a few teasers out and then revealed everything, let us theorycraft and get excited. But by announcing the next 3 heroes all at once, and letting you try them out etc they’re basically stretching the hype period so much that it doesn’t even feel that exciting anymore when they release. I miss the old marketing so much

I think clash is a double edge sword. Whiles its constant "go at it" game design is fun, if put in a competitive setting, it wouldn't allow much time for strategising, downtime and regrouping. Though unless you are in a comp team or higher rank, that wouldn't matter that much and would probably help you win more games lmao.

i dont see the battlepass nerf tbh. Yes there are less weekly challenges but we get like 20 000 bp xp for completing 5/6 quests. thats equivalent of 4 quests of xp. And honestly, i like how im not forced to play heroes i dont play or other roles bcs of weeklies, now its just "go play whatever and get the xp" which i prefer

i think the mythic shards can be most closely compared to radianite in valorant. they are very expensive to encourage you to buy the battlepass
right, you're not meant to buy them, you're meant to unlock them in the BP
They didnt make it harder to level up. The weekly challenges still give you the same amount of xp as before because you can get more if you complete 1 3 and 5 weeklies which is the same.
This isn't true; there were previously 13 weeklies, 12 of which gave 5000xp each, which meant you could get 60000xp total per week. There are now 6 weeklies, 5 giving xp, on top of the 25000xp that you could get from completing 1, 3, and 5, making the total amount 50000xp per week now.

The main reason this seasons is lacking is because compared to season 9, it does have less massive changes.
In season 9, we have a massive revamp to the competitive system, and the massive balance changes (with the new dps passive, projectile size, and health pools), with a Pharah rework. This season has a Wrecking ball rework, and Venture. Comparing it to both sides, it is obvious that gameplay wise, season 10 didn’t change much except a little.
So far, I’m having fun in season 10. Venture being accessible immediately in competitive is a very good change. The buffs does have an impact, but not big enough where it shifts the meta, but not small enough to go unnoticeable. These changes are mainly buffs to heroes who didn’t got adjusted during season 9 (Reinhardt, Lifeweaver, Junker Queen). The fact we are having early access to Clash is also good (it is a very fun mode, better than Flashpoint).
I’d say the fun part of the season would probably be either next week, or mid season. This season includes quality of life changes which I believe we really needed. Overall, this season is more focused on things that are outside of balance, which is why this season feels weak compared to season 9.

In no world, with any excuse that could possibly be conceived of is 70$ worth a single skin. This is the slow creep of constantly raising prices on these things. If anything happens, it'll be them reducing the price a little and acting like we should thank them, ignoring that they're still charging like 65 bucks
The season is great for me... i haven't played this much overwatch in years. The mythic stuff makes sense. Prism prices are basically the price of buying the battlepass and paying to skip all the levels...also venture is exciting, not everyone got to play during the few days ian 😡 lol

i really enjoy these "state of the game" videos, especially your perspective and focus on the cosmetic, battle pass and monetization changes and what not. Since most creators only talk about the big changes like balance, gameplay and just show off the battle pass (but don't really discuss it), They don't bother discussing the other smaller additions that can make or break a season.

18:30 actually weeklies before and weeklies now both provide exactly 50 000-55 000 XP depending if you do all, or leave the last one out.
I hate that they made the battlepass without more skins, there is just no skin on level 10 or 20, mercy mythic is very meh, I like the talon mercy but most of the options and unnecessary and lame, this season is under whelming
People complaining that mercy got a mythic bother me so much. there are 40 heros and she was 10th, that is not nearly early enough to complain about it lmao. if it was like, 3rd, id get the complaints about favoritism but not really. if you want to talk about favoritism talk about how kiriko and JQ got them because they are ow2 characters

Mirrorwatch desperately needed a story. Even Spacewatch had little cutscenes and a comic. It makes the world feel fleshed out. The current event just feels like the characters in cosplay.
No. Under no circumstances is $70 to pay for a skin ever okay. Just because you play this game and are guaranteed to get it cheaper does not make this okay.
Imagine some fresh install, sees the sick outfit for their favorite hero with all this cool customization, and they queue up to buy some prisms to discover one skin costs them the price of Baldur's Gate 3 or Tears of the Kingdom?

The only reason I can think for the Hashimoto skins being legendary is if the spirits are changed. Not sure how the dragons or fox could be changed to be Hashmito but I guess we have to wait to see. I hope they’re at least bundled though bc for skins that should be epic, they’re really good
I noticed that Hashimoto-Kiriko has a hairstyle which resembles the tails of the Kyuubi (Nine-Tailed-Fox) so maybe the Kitsune will have also nine tails? For Hanzo maybe the dragons will turn into Tigers seeing as his mask and emote are Cat-related?
When it comes down to the missing cosmetics has it occurred to you that the vfx workers COULD just be overworked and can't get it done in time?
Mirrorwatch not having Soldier76 and Reaper swaps is crazy tbh... I mean they are the literal iconic duo on opposite sides, so if anyone should have gotten swaps it should have been them. I don't even play them, I just think it's a huge missed oportunity.
A QoL change I think would be greatly appreciated is to be able to equip more than just 4 sprays, voices lines, and emotes. Also retire souvenirs bc literally nobody used them before Winton

Only thing I'm not crazy about this season is the balance but that can get ironed out as the season goes on, some of the match makikng due to their restrictions being lifted and the other changes they made to it. I think as a whole the skins and the BP were awesome this season, while I agree both kiri and hanzo shouldn't be legendary I wouldn't say Kiriko is a SUPER straight up recolor as I feel enough of the skin is changed to be classified as a recolor or enough that I wouldn't compare it to Mime Moira, but def an epic... hanzo on the other hand 🙃
Edit: I would also add I'm fine with them making the BP (easily the easiest in the industry to complete) slightly more difficult to complete and taking away how many stupid souvenirs are in it... I hate souvenirs, they are the most useless cosmetic (minus the new winton one) in the game. Like you said they added coins and more of them to the BP, took our heroes as well so it would make sense to make it a little more difficult to complete. But like always I'm sure they will do a dbl xp weekend and they already gave away 5 skips for prime so I don't think the BP will be as difficult to complete as some might think.
Bp nerfs like not being able to unlock the promoted mythic skin. While keep those Prisms...they want you to spend 80 bucks for Mythic skin. Some of them don't have a lot of customizations.
The weekly challenges only give 1/6th less experience in total and are *much* less annoying to get (as someone who would grind them more than the battlepass due to the coins)
They need to change the prices for skins because it’s ridiculous. 20 dollar skins shouldn’t be a thing anymore.
Regarding the skins of Venture; I'm just very happy that they doesn't make the game crazy boring like Mauga did with his introduction, so for me that offsets the pain of having no additional content for Venture.
Not all battle pass skins are not equal so they shouldn't be priced equally. Plus 70$ its not silly, thats robbery and also you can buy a whole game for these prices.
Then don’t buy it no one’s forcing you these skins were never going to come back but now they are so the cost is high or pay 10 bucks and play the game

It's really a good season on the surface, but the deeper you dig, the worse it gets.
There are some objectively good changes, which are soured a bit by downsides.
+Past mythics can be obtained
-Mythic shards are ridiculously prices (even if it doesnt really effect me, since I have all the mythics)
-Mythic prisms take away slots in the BP
+All heroes are available for free again
+More currency and not tied to challenges
-Currency takes away BP slots
-The amount of weekly challenges decreased, making the grind worse
+Venture is pretty dope
-Almost no cosmetics for them in the gallery OR in the BP, just nothing except probably an upcoming shop skin (which is only epic too)
-They aren't exactly that new and shiny anymore
-With a fairly limited amount of buffs and nerfs, the meta still feels very same-y
+Skins are pretty cool this season
-Not really tied to this season, but will always apply, sucks to see the skins you want be shop skins
-Quality of certain skins are not worth the price tag (well, not that ANY skins are worth the price tag in the shop, but Kiri and Hanzo are just objectively epics)
Epic quality skins like recolors have been given the "legendary" tag for a while now and it's insane.
I honestly thought there was gonna be a PvE mode with the mirrored heroes having different abilities and going on missions. Is that still happening or no more?
Next week there will be a new time-limited mode called "Mirrorwatch" but from what you can see in the trailer it seems to be a PvP-Mode similar to Starwatch where you decide on which side (Talon or Overwatch) you want to fight and then have a selection of heroes to choose from.

The arrogance of Blizzard by putting the mythic skins at 70 is emblematic of Overwatch 2
Clash is exactly the perfect mode for non-pro competitive play. This mode will help deter early quitters after a team gets steam rolled from the start. It encourages hope when other modes you don’t bother cause you know it’s a wash. Kinda like the clash is like checkers whereas the other modes are tic-tac-toe.
Now if we could get a mode that was like chess would be amazing. But I guess that would be OverWatch RTS lol.
The meta is basically the same as last season, almost nothing changed... No price changes, the big changes all have tradeoffs, no complete win in anything (the BP looks empty and uninteresting, and the shop looks overpriced and overburden)

I have to disagree, I don’t think that Venture feels underwhelming bc she was revealed earlier, but rather the fact that since ow2 they haven’t put nearly as much effort teasing new heroes. I mean what happened with cinematics and origin stories before every release? I just feel like with these new heroes they’re missing life and you don’t get to see their personality…
Lmao the Gingerbread Bastion. It does cost 1900 coins whenever it comes back to the shop. Saying that we haven't seen the prices yet is just cope, we've seen the price of Terrible Tornado skin (and the Mime skin).
They haven’t really nerfed the speed at which u level up, as by competing 1-2-5 weeklies u get an XP bonus (instead of the coins), but the total amount of Xp u can get weekly is the same :)
Venture is the new dps doomfist honestly, it's frustrating to go against her, and what's crazy with the Mythic shop is the shards cost $100 in CAD.
Amazing vid. I 100% agree with you. This season absolutely feels "meh" to me even though this theme was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most. There are so many missed opportunities, missing details and drops in polish that it felt like no-one else noticed. I even started writing a letter to Blizz (I might be a little delusional)
i feel exactly the same..usually every season gets kinda boring in the last 2-3 weeks but in this season the start is just not very exciting. i think its because there is no big meta change. venture didnt really shake it up and it feels like season 9 got prolonged....
There are heroes that actually could use a skin. Mercy gets a skin almost twice a season.
Season 10 feels so terrible to me just all around.
I expect big changes to Ball. Turns out he’s still ass.
Tank is a miserable role to play. It’s either Orisa or explode.
Overwatch might be better balanced since 5x5.
But 6x6, with 2PC and all, was just way more fun.

Ventures release was great, they already feel like they were apart of the game but in a good way unlike Mauga that just felt like a p2w character and overpowered, they are strong but they can be punished pretty easily which feels almost like ow1 character design which is surprising as a large majority of team is probably new

There are only a few weapon-charms and souvenirs in the BP which are tied to the theme but otherwise it really feels like they replaced other charms and souvenirs places with one of the currencies which I also think is okay.
