If its just Sombra its ok. I always wins vs Sombra
But enemy teams usually have more CC than just one Sombra. So thats a problem.
Yeah in order to even play ball you then have to learn orisa/mauga/ramattra because otherwise if they go hog or sombra you just lose

Sombra is just so oppressive against tanks like all she has to do to completely shut down a play is unskillfully hold a button in the general direction of an enemy
Crazy how cooldowns just became inherently stronger by removing a hero so now the cooldowns are focused on the single tank. You can change the values on cooldowns all you want but it wont change the fact that they'll still all be used on the single tank
Sombra only shuts down ball and doom so dunno how that’s “all tanks”
It should be a skillshot, her hacked health packs shouldn't be completely unusable for the enemies maybe they just heal your for half, and hack shouldn't force ball into crab mode
And people constantly cope “Just play corners” “Just shoot her when she hacks” “play with your team” do they not understand that Sombra is perma invis? If Sombra doesn’t want to take a fight she just doesn’t have to. She can just sit and wait for your team to push in and leave the zen for 2 seconds. “Sombra is more punishable” oh yes it’s so easy to punish a 6 sec cd teleport that she cannot be stunned out of. Sombra is the only character in the game (except for new ball) that if you miss a cd you’re forgiven. Breaking hack with los does nothing as it does not go on cooldown even tho you skillfully disrupted the .65 cast time. Why can she sit in the hack animation? Why is hack an auto aim 15m cc. These useless fucking devs just need to gut the annoying characters (Orisa, hog, mauga, widow, sombra, sym, torb, bap, Kiri) so we can have a season of fun.

And Orisa gets to be unboopable, unstunable, and unkillable by pressing a button
Updating Ball's shields so that it can't be hacked, stunned, or booped while in ball form when shield is active could be nice.

No no no they got rid of all cc when they switched to overwatch 2. Remember?
What's equally painful is seeing how many times he gets back out in spite of both that and all the damage he's taking and realizing that without the CC he'd be getting 2-3k per engagement no matter what the enemy team plays. These are GM players and the best option they can come up with to not die instantly to a giant metal ball is to stun it.
@rockstermaniac i think he has high survivability cause hes a low damage zoner built to disorganize teams, idk i haven't played in years so im lost on what the devs changed
but we moved to 5v5 so that this wouldn't happen anymore!

I played ball the other day, wasn't doing much but the enemy team ended up triple countering me. I'm not even a good ball, I was just confused more than anything as to why they would triple counter someone who's barely existing.
Tank Moment, but because its Ball who does his own thing most of the time the counter swaps don't gain much otherwise
Because its easier to get value out of a desperate counter swap than it is to squeeze value out of a niche hero, so they are net positive by bringing your value closer to 0 than to try to create value themselves, even if you're doing nothing
@@mikejowan3340 i think its also because most people never learned how to look at a comp and identify a win condition and understand how the two team comps interact on that specific map. that takes some game knowledge and experience, so most people just braindead counter swap and never think about anything past "kill tank = win"

@@sugarkrisp5199 that too but specifically in balls case, most people see your running ball and doing semi good and instead we of playing better they go sombra because they know she's the most oppressive to him. I'm not upset about counter picking I'm upset that even if you're above average at ball the enemy picking sombra will completely make you about below average.
This rework showed a blatant lack of understanding of what’s actually wrong with ball.
Giving him shout doesn’t help you play with your team either

only that shout gives you instant hp AND SPEED and your team too. with ball you need to roll into 5 players, press e, dont get cc what is a challenge for itself and then go back to your team to give them the hp and you loose all of your shield and the best part is that nobody even notice it. i testet in in diamond and it changes absolutly nothing at all. Just shows how few they understand from there own game.
Their last tank designs have been roadhog rework, mauga and ball rework. All display a blatant lack of understanding of the problem with tanks who cannot respond to disables
Blizzard is so obsessed with "character identity" that they refuse to rework characters in a way that would actually change they way they're played. it's infuriating
So many games are like this, entire team of heroes that stop you from playing the game

Permanent invisibility, the fact that she can hack multiple health packs for far too long, and they don't even come back when she dies immediately, her hack stopping all abilities and it's not like she has to aim it, can't hear her footsteps until she on you, free escape/chase tool, boosted movement speed...even if u watch ur back it's not enough most times. She's busted and braindead. But she is fun

Sombra is such well-designed hero, with a kit that feels fair and honest. when you get hacked, you really go: "man, my mistake. that was my fault!"
“Fair” means that it’s fair for sombra to literally be able to cancel every single engagement that he makes in this gameplay? He’s not making a mistake by engaging, that’s how ball works.

I think making him CC immune during fast roll would give him way more options and out playability against his counters
Fr, if Mauga can get full CC invulnerability during charge, then Ball should be allowed something to alleviate CC when it's his #1 counter
YEAH!! Having to time your fireball (with Retract this is more flexible) for when you're about to be CC'd to get the Unstopable status would genuinely be such a cool way for Ball to outplay CC!! (I feel like Doom and Rein could also use this too >.> lmao)
Immunity has never worked. It's never been the answer and never will be. 6v6 is the answer. But I guess ruining the Game for tank players is more profitable for blizzard

I remember when they said they announced they basically wanted to remove CC from DPS heroes in OW2 then instead they gave Sombra a quicker cast time, less ability to abuse interrupted hacks, and made her significantly more braindead to play. At least in OW1, the Sombra players would get clapped if they didn't have a significant amount of time into the hero.
They've never commited to "Removing CC" from overwatch while Ana still has sleep dart. The very first hero ever added to the game still has an infinite ranged zero fall off stun on demand

It atleast still takes aim. Shit Ana's can miss, shit sombras can't and there's no cool down if they miss
They also reduced the number of tanks in the game, effectively doubling the amount of CC that a tank has to deal with. And they didn't even really lower the CC that much in general, they just lowered the number of stuns and replaced them with slows, hinders, or boops instead; and for a tank like ball, getting booped is effectively the same as getting stunned because it ruins his entire engage. We were supposed to have less CC in OW2 but honestly for tanks at least it feels like even more than before.

I do actually think they improved doom pretty well and he fits better as a tank. Dps doom was kinda un fixable

1:50 - 2:50 is EXACTLY why people don't play tank. is he getting value? sure he's getting cooldowns out and sombra isn't doing anything, but how is that fun for the tank? there's no fun in being pummeled by 27 different cooldowns at once. 6v6 is needed
I miss 6v6 ow, hammond has a brilliant design it was so fun to play him at ow1. Now we don’t have 2cp and have single tank, the role that ball has not been designed for. I would make him invulnerable to CC for a 5-6 seconds after ult, so he could counter abilities.
But it’s lame, I hope devs will come up with something, watching this is just depressing
If there was another tank to hold a frontline so you could flank on ball, they wouldn’t need to change his design. Ball fits perfectly in 6v6
Ball was actually the sole reason I got hooked into Overwatch. After learning the game Im more of a support player now, but I do miss the times playing ball wasn't a throw pick

Ball was made for 6v6 but that ship has sailed. We're stuck with 5v5, have to learn and adapt

their changes need to be specific, for example : make sombra hack not deactivate ball form , make ana dart not stun ball while in rush mode etc etc ... you dont always have to buff a hero , sometimes you have to do specific tweaks

For real, like why hasn't this change been made already? It makes no fucking sense at all for hack to take Ball out of ball form entirely, his ability is to SWITCH forms so shouldn't it just stop him from changing while he's hacked? That's the way it works with Ramattra's Nemesis Form, but for some reason Blizzard likes the fact that one of the most skilled tank heroes can be made unplayable by the most braindead hero in the game. Is it really not enough that he gets knocked out of grapple and can't use shields during it? I seriously don't get how this ability interaction was ever a thing in the first place.

I get why they don't want to go that route but hey this game is been out for years. The people that still play still like it to some degree. Plus there's alot of different heroes and abilities. Sometimes certain abilities make the game a bit too unfair and isn't attributed to just normal counter play. It's ok to do character with specific nerfs / buffs in that case. If anything if ball had invulnerablility to only cc no damage reduction or anything while in fire that would probably be all he needs
In my opinion, sombra is everything a hero shouldnt be. Hyper mobilty + insane CC + Burst damage with Virus. 3 things that make any hero insanely unfun to play against. Combine this with the fact that hack can proc through walls and doesnt need aim and EMP being easy to land and impossible to counter while being an instant fight win makes sombra so unfun to fight. Did I mention she is invisible ?

@marionem6163 can't ult without baiting the 6 second 0.65 cast time 15 meter range auto aim ability that locks you out from playing the game from an invisible hero that can be everywhere. Yikes.

She's not really hyper mobile, though. Her translocator is very telegraphed, and if she whiffs virus, her damage really isn't that high.
Even then, you can outheal it in a lot of instances. Can maybe make a case for normal hack not countering ultimates but letting EMP do so.

either sombra has to become a hard F-tier hero, or we go back to 6v6 and rebuild from there
until one of those things happen - tanking will be a dead role.

Society if Adaptive Shield made a hamster ball shield around you instead of just giving overhealth.

The thing that I hate is, when I play other heroes I just do what the hero is meant to do with minimal technical or strategy. But with BALL, I have to be so focused to not miss a single thing and is too much to keep in mind, many "IF" or "WHEN" I would do something. All of this just to do the minimum and sometimes get trashtalked anyway. But is when I lose or win and I see one "fuck you ball" in the chat, THAT, that makes my day.

Remove sombra
I think season 5 or 6. There was a small amount of time when orisa, Sombra was shit and balls ult got buffed. But then they buffed orisa, Sombra and nerfed ball ult

It sucks that there are no other roles that were built specifically to help Wrecking Ball by baiting and taking cooldowns, cc, and the actual thousands of damage the enemy produces per second for the team. Man imagine if there was another role meant for that.

It’s wild to me that a character literally named WRECKING BALL has next to 0 agency. Even when in fireball mode. Get Lucio booped, flailed, hacked, slept, hindered, etc. and all of those things take little skill to pull off (except for maybe sleep dart).
Well that was our rework. Time to wait another year before they attempt anything again.

I dont understand their philosophy with sombra. Hack technichally isnt too bad, but there is practically no counterplay for tanks. So we just make hack more easy to get off and not have to unstealth first...
Also no one talks about how venture gets shields instead of overhealth for no reason. Can someone with contact to a dev please speak up about that inconsistency!?
Shield tanks can flash their shield to interrupt hack, dva can spy check pretty well, some tanks actually don't care that you hacked them like rammatra
@@khaledm.1476 hack cast time is very short, not always can you react fast enough. And even then, due to hacks grace window at the end where even if you break LOS it still goes off it can be VERY Difficult to stop.
Best way to fix sombra is remove her ability to hack while invis.
Maybe make Sombra hack take slightly longer on tanks? An addition to the passive or something?
Because shields give full ult charge and overhealth gives reduced ult charge. Venture would be so much more annoying if they were constantly getting overhealth

@@HoodedLunar and playing against mei now is arguably worse because at least before, there was a small window where you could escape with grapple after u were frozen and it wore off. Now there is no lockout window so the slow doesn't go away until you get out of her range. Which is much harder now.

One way to help Ball tremendously (and Doomfist) would be taking Mirrorwatch Sombra and putting her into the live game. In other words, rework sombra to be a support Dps, not a "Youre not allowed to play the game" Dps. Thats just one fix but still, would be 10x Healthier for the game In my opinion. But I can still see people picking her against ball to steal his Med Packs, still wouldnt be as bad as getting hacked and instantly Exploding.
"CC should be the defining feature of tanks." Proceeds to keep almost all the CC from OW1 in game and then adds some extra.
i'm getting second hand anger watching sombra just sit in stealth and wait for the hack. sombra losing hack would be such an improvement to everyone's experience. i hope the mirror watch's support sombra is something they're considering.
getting hacked or hindered should just end your grapple, it shouldn't take you out of ball form.
Bastion and Ram remain in their respective forms when they are hacked/hindered, so I don't see why there isn't continuity.
Im not a high ranked player but id love to see them test an adaptive shield change that breaks tracking from enemies no nade, hack, visor ig. As much as i dislike ability denial, seems to be the only direction.
Fireball should be like mauga charge, where you are immune to cc

Even in qp, 90% of the time the enemy insta swaps sombra after one death, ranking up doesnt matter.

Looking at this game the enemies are so good that brig boops him down any time he tries to engage, supports help out any time he slams, dps are bursting him everywhere, it just seems impossible to play from his POV
@@Ryniano None of that is really an issue for a good ball player besides brig obviously (her cc). Cc is the biggest problem for ball, most hard counter cc abilities use very little skill, whilst ball has to implement insane levels of skill to outplay the insta kill cc buttons that the entire enemy team has.

Yeah right. CC cooldowns are too spammable for solo tanks. And they didn't keep their promise on "only tanks being able to CC". As they do with all their promises, they lie.
honestly this is the single biggest reason im sad about losing the second tank. theres still a fuck ton of cc, and now its all directed at the one tank. feels awful to play and there's no way to fix such a fundamental flaw without adding back the second tank and rebalancing
New passive idea: when shields are applied, Ball can't be hacked. Bum! Solved.

The first 3 mins is EXACTLY why i quit playing ball and went back to DVA. Its so miserable. HACKED, flail, HACKED, mei slow, HACKED, Boop, HACKED, Sym turrets, HACKED, Javelin, H A C K E D.
Man you inspired me to be a ball main back in the day. looking at those roll outs and tiny tech bits you do, I'm missing how ball used to play out in OW1 and I was good but I never really got the chance to grind to become a top ball player because I didn't have that much time to play back then. Since 5v5 ball is just miserable even if you outbrain the enemy team your either doing nothing or you end up being a target dummy anyways. the games where you totally outplay the enemy shouldn't feel so bad. other heroes are objectively even less fun to play but you achieve the same goal with less much effort. that's just wrong.
My main issue with these “reworks” is that they aren’t even reworks, they’re just adding one ability, tweaking their old moves and that’s it. Nothing that makes it feel new, it’s just the same character with the same issues

Its like they only know how to balance COD type characters. When it comes to unique ones like Junk, Ball, Doom, Reaper, Hog the devs just shit their pants and throw in random abilities to see what sticks.
There are multiple heroes in the game with two different forms, like bastion and ramattra, but ball is the only hero that gets their form changed by sombra hack

Like Spilo said, they should have kept the cooldown reductions for when someone *CC's ball* (before entering fireball) since that was ALWAYS the main issue with him. NOT that you messed up a rotation once and didn't enter into fireball speed IMO and then had to wait for it to come back.
Atm the buffs are more good QoL stuff that hasn't solved his main issues.
Balls only use is to take cooldowns. The only time you have fun on ball is the first minute of the game. After that, the enemy team goes Hog cass and sombra.

a lotta people claiming 6v6 would solve tank issues. while it's obvious that ball was clearly designed in a way where there needs to be other forms of pressure (aka another tank), tanking still sucked in ow1 too.
the fact that tank is an issue between games over all these years tells mr that its.more than a format change, they seriously need to look at reducing the efficacy and ease of throwing cooldowns on tank to get value. its crazy how some of these abilities get MORE value on tanks than squishies while also being insanely easy to apply to tanks.

okay, so hammond needs:
- foam cushion layer against brig
- firewall for resistance against sombra
- can't be slept in ballform, because the dart does not reach the hamster inside
- the grapple should also work like hogs hook
- can spawn baby hamsters, that run on yeatle AI and randomly swing, slam, and fireball around the map
- genji-reflect-adaptive shields
- upgrade guns to bastion guns
- mines should work like junkrat bombs and displace anything they don't kill
- install a flamethrower on the ball too and rockets

How to somewhat help ball with cc: while adaptive shields are up with overhealth, ball cant be stunned, booped, hacked, etc. Could also work with the shared shields, but that would be kinda strong
I have a small solution. Hammond gains shields when he hits or slams people. The perfect defense. Replace adaptive shields with a portable dome shield surrounding Hammond that has 500 to 600 health that lasts for four seconds on a 12 to 14 second cooldown.

No amount of reworking will fix this game. The philosophy of the dev team for how they create their heroes and the introduction of 5v5 is the reason for tank being the way it is.
Sombra, kiriko, moira, brig (and more!) do 10x more than any ball player can do just by purely existing.
Yeah he’s not great. It sucks that you have to put sooo much work in playing ball to get very little value. I love wrecking ball I’ve got over 1k hours on him but he’s just not good right now.
I feel like all they really need to do to help ball is make him immune to cc while on fire (like during slam or when he goes fast with grapple)
