I was stationed in England at a base in East Anglia when America broke out..I was in a band, of course, and every musician on the base loved what America was doing..Now, 53 years later, I still do..and I like what you girls are doing too !!!!
This is by far my favorite America song. Yeah, it's light and sometimes careless, but the emotions spoke to the kaleidoscope of my life as a young man. The opening line is legendary. Kudos!
When a bunch of kids slay a cover written decades before they were born... that I remember vividly from middle school, I say, "THIS IS WHAT TH-cam IS FOR!"
Keep in mind people have been slaying covers of Bach and Motzart fir centuries. Their age, and the age of the song both mean little. Talent means a lot.
Music from the 60s and 70s gets better with time. The talent of the writing, musicianship and singing haven’t been repeated. The country was different then and it came through in the music
This is how all musical performance videos should be presented: Each performer on his and her own instrument, one camera, no smoke machines, digital effects, cutaways to the South of France, no chorus lines or dance troupes. The magic here is the immediacy and honesty of this performance. Great art - and the real thing, too.
From an old time rocker: the addition of mandolin, dobro and banjo to this classic is cool. RDC voice is perfect for this song. The bass man holds the line and per usual Toni on lead guitar doin' her thing. Well done people. This is fun I watch it over and over.

Wow, suddenly I'm back in the seventies. This goes straight to the heart and it brings back many warm, but also wistful feelings. Thanks Reina and Toni, and friends too!
Great job I too am glad your generation appreciates this music and is keeping it alive in such a wonderful fashion the music influences basically every 3rd generation ,my first born a 90s child was so freaked out when she read a article about one of the popular bands of her high school years that I liked and when they were asked who their main influences in music had been they gave the names of mine and their parents era from the 60s and 70s ! Of course my daughter knew those artists from me she was also shocked that a couple of big hits were remakes of old songs
That resophonic and banjer, when they kick in together in the second verse, makes tears fall from my old eyes. This is probably the prettiest song I have ever heard and this young ensemble do it proud. Simply beautiful.
This is my favourite song by America. I can still recall the first time I heard, I couldn't believe a song could be so perfect. And you guys nail it. And it's a mini ballad about the sadness of a guy who tries but just can't make with his loved one.
Yep. Totally get it. Used to listen to American on Texas-toast sized 8-tracks. LOL. Just remember, "Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have.....".

Oh my God… Hats off to you, Reina del Cid! Excellent job. It's really hard to overestimate your delightful cover of this marvelous song! I’m a 60 years old building engineer dwelling in a lot of thousand miles away from the place you live in and do what you do, but this song in your perfect perfomance made me remember one's youth... and someone's silly dreams of the Godblessed Land beyond the Ocean... called Northern America. Now we may thank God for that everybody can see/hear you sing this song staying in a bit too far 2nd of September 2018 not knowing what the future does hold for us in a couple of years...

I grew up on this music. I’ve played in bands for years; picked up guitar in 1979 and been playing ever since. Glad to see younger generations playing the great classics. Check out Leonid & Friends, a Russian band that is the best Chicago cover band ever.
So many videos I see of "young" people doing old covers are totally studio-polished and over processed. This one is original, organic, genuine and great!
Wonderful song, I played It once and again tonight while driving through the land of the Cid. Great singer and musicians, pure talent with no need of any additive. Thanks guys and hope to see you one day in Spain!
It's nice to see the older classic songs being honored like this. I loved when this song came on the radio. Made me smile plus reminded me of the girl I was going out with at the time.
