Beautiful bowl, Gord. I burnish my texturing with a non woven abrasive pad like a green Scotch brite. You do not lose any detail and it cleans the frizzies better than sandpaper.

This is why we make our abrasive the strongest on the market as far as abrasiveness, it will take down the grittyness like no others on the market! Thank you Gord for using and showing our pastes, there are a lot of knock offs out now and none of them compare to be honest. You have that texturing tool down to a science, thats not as easy as it looks, great bowl!!!

Thank you so much, Gary. Kind words from a Master Turner! I need more practicing with the texturing tool but I don't find too many pieces that are calling to me to use it. Of course, I have an addiction to tools that never seems to be satisfied. I sure wish one of my kids or grandkids was interested in turning. I hate to think where they are going to end up one day. Oh well, that won't be my problem at that time. LOL!! Thanks for watching, buddy! 😃😃😃

I seem to have the same addiction when it comes to tools. Must have been in the water when we were kids.
I have one grandson who liked to watch me turn but lost interest.
Both our sons love to tinker but not so much in wood work. I think my gouges would become crow bars and my Starrett squares would be used as hammers. And I have lots of both LOL

Good morning Gord. It must have been about 1AM when you posted this. Are you a night owl? As for me it is 4AM as I watched the video. I am up early to watch a video session from Australia. Glad there is no work tomorrow. Actually there is no work any day. Kicked that habit beginning of 2020. As to the bowl. You started off with a ice piece of wood. Then it took on a very nice shape. A little texturing for some accents. Then an absolutely outstanding finish. Of course we have come to expect no less from the Rock shop. Thank you for sharing. Have a great safe day yourself.

Watching you work is therapeutic, Gord. And I needed it after this week.
Great design! Did you plan the texture and lines before you began, or was it your decision when the time came? I appreciate your experimentation with the sanding & polishing pastes after the sealer and finish. I should've done that, or wipe on poly, for my project today. I my dye was leaking a bit. I'm guessing the polishing last would've worked. Gary has been doing that lately, also. You guys keep us up on the best methods.

    • @GordonRock1

I decided on the texture and lines as I was turning it, Jay. It just seemed like an appropriate thing to do at the time. Honestly, my segmented pieces are about the only thing that I do much advance planning on. I’m happy to provide a bit of therapy! LOL! Thanks for watching!
