    I thought that it was a stunning piece of woodturning. Your deft skills with the gouges makes for riveting viewing which is then complimented brilliantly with the finishes applied that showed the delightful grain of the maple to perfection. I am sure your wife would have been nothing less than excited by her new salad bowl. Thanks for sharing. Don from South Aust.

      Thank you for your kind words, Don. Yes my wife does like the salad bowl although she has yet to use it for a salad because she doesn’t like the idea of ruining the wood!! Oh well, if she wants to just let it sit around as a decorative piece that’s fine with me. Thanks for watching, Don! Have a wonderful day, Down Under! 👍👍😃😃😃🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

      I’m glad you liked it, Tom. I just sent an extra kit you had sent me to the fellow who gave me that large burl and his old lathe for parts. He couldn’t figure out how to order from you so I sent it to him show him how good it is. Next time I’m sure he will order directly from you. Thanks for watching, buddy! Good morning Gord, that is an absolutely beautiful bowl and now you need some smaller bowls for the salad for each of your guests ! Love the grain in it and the color is lovely..........well done and thanks for the awesome video!

      Glad you liked it, Al. I like the idea of smaller bowls but with the number of projects I want to do it might have to wait awhile. If the guests want maple salad bowls I will suggest that they get a lathe and turn their own so they can bring them with them with them. LOL!! Thanks for watching, Al. 😃😃😃

    Well Gord Phil has said everything I was thinking but here it goes.
    The grain is stunning and I think the shape change really helped show it off.
    The other thing is it is so soothing to watch you guide that gouge with so much control.
    The bowl ended up much bigger than it looked but I guess the bottom had me fooled. Doesn't take much....lol
    Also I totally agree with you that Bruce does great work. I also recommend Jordan Woodwerx!
    Oh I was not thinking it but agree with Phil...not big enough for popcorn...
    Great job my friend,
    Gary

    • @GordonRock1
      @GordonRock1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paige, I definitely would NOT put it in the dishwasher! It can be washed quickly in warm soapy water in the sink but should not be allowed to soak. Dry it with a dish towel immediately after removing from the water and it should be fine. If the wood seems to be drying out you can just add another coat or two of mineral oil and it will be ready to go. 😃😃👍

      I believe it's called an adapter and I got mine from Oneway. It has threads for the Oneway live center on one end and the other end has the threads to match my chuck. They have them for a great number of thread patterns. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!!

    Gorgeous bowl Gord! What size/type of screw do you prefer to use with your faceplate?

      I use #8 wood screws. If the bowl is deep enough I use 1-1/2” screws and use a minimum of 1”. I really prefer to use a glue block if I can’t use 1-1/2” screws. I’m glad you liked the bowl. Thanks for watching! I always appreciate your comments and your support!

      @@GordonRock1 whether you like it or not, I consider you and many of the other turners I follow my mentors on my own wood turning journey. I greatly value your comments and suggestions cuz they help avoid pitfalls or give alternative methods for accomplishing this "addiction" 😃😃
