I love that you actually used the stove to cook something. I've seen a number of restoration videos and the all show beautiful transformations. But when the object being restored has a function, like a lamp, or a pie safe, or a cook stove, it's just more impact full to see the finished item doing that job.

Я с вами согласен. Когда-то весь тот хлам, что сейчас ржавеет и гниёт, был чьей-то мечтой. Всё вокруг пыль и тлен, а величие и важность всему придаём мы сами
Because so many people, including many children, burned to death. They were used on a table top indoors. One bump and the whole thing tips over, setting the home on fire. There are newspaper archives from 100+ years ago filled with obituaries from these things.
Incredible resurrection. And damn, the manufacturer's plate says "Feurs (Loire)"! It's really close to my birth place. Amazing to see that, back in the days, we were able to produce such appliances locally. 😯

Wonderful job restoring this rare antique relic. I'm sure it can be worth a lot after you masterfully restored it to a pristine condition. Great work!!
Absolutely amazing, there is no way I could take everything apart, clean it up, repair and then use. Wow, it’s beautiful because of the work you did restoring it
Nice work. These are sometimes referred to as bachelor grillers, and while the functionality is typically split across toaster ovens, hot plates, and griddles these days, we've never stopped making these beauties. While somewhat uncommon, there are actually a few modern electric models that include a toaster oven, a griddle, and a drip coffee maker.
Something I don’t think people appreciate is the time and effort you put into the videography. Excellent work, crisp editing that maintains the pace. Well done.
Thank you so much for noticing! Videography and editing do take a lot of time and effort, so it means a lot to hear your appreciation. I'm glad you enjoyed the pacing and overall work-it’s feedback like this that keeps me motivated. 😊
I must say that your dedication to this restoration project was definitely inspiring! I like that you chose to use high-temp paint to help make the finish more durable!!😁👍
Hi Johnny, when I saw the stove picture I knew I'd want to see this beautiful relic restored. Liked and subscribed after only a few minutes! I hope your amazing craftsmanship continues being passed down to future generations. The end result was nothing less than astonishing, and am glad you put it to test, rather than simply showing it restored. Now awaiting for an invitation to breakfast. Haha!

There should be some with wood maybe? Those will be bigger though - and are not portable - need a chimney. Longterm wood might be better though - you won't have the problem of fluid evaporating. And not sure you want to use this often then without a chminey too.
What a beautiful job Johnny! Must take hours to carefully dismantle these old world things. And what an array of both tools and knowledge of repairing various metals and cleaning. Amazing!!
It's my understanding that miniature stoves like this were sales tools. It's a replica of a full-size stove. Door to door salesmen would use this as their demo. If people bought one, the full-size would be delivered later.
Great stove. Congratulations on the restore job. Looks fantastic. One point, the window on the chimney would have been a thin sheet of vermiculite not glass on the original. I'm just about to start bringing an old Primus 145/2 back to life, the burner until is working again now to sort out the cabinet.

I remember our appliances lasting for decades. The ones that were built 50+years ago. Obsolescence is now built into everything. We actually were able to do our own car repairs too. Dang, how it's changed, sadly.
No, it's just that such crap is not needed now. It is bulky, uses liquid fuel (kerosene, gasoline) and a fabric cord. Besides that, it is not so axisless compared to modern stoves. Have you ever lit a kerosene lamp? If not, then I will tell you from my own experience - the one who does it for the first time is more likely to burn the entire cord and, on top of everything else, can burn down the house. Well, yes, this type of stove requires a very well ventilated room or a powerful hood, because, if you did not know, burning fabric soaked in kerosene produces a huge amount of smoke (which is visible even on video). Agree - not everyone can afford to buy a hood or build a house with huge windows. Overall, the comment is from the series "ah, but it used to be... and the grass was greener, and the trees were taller." This whole "planned obsolescence" crap is another stupid conspiracy theory that has no basis other than nitpicking to the point that things are not made so "reliable" now that "you buy it once - and it will last until your great-great-great-grandchildren." Yes, things break more often now if not used carefully, but this does not mean that there is some kind of "capitalist conspiracy to rake in more money from the common people."
