  • Solido has been on a roll producing some much sought after Race, Tuner and Muscle Cars at affordable prices. But what are the shortcomings of the budget model compared to a premium offering?

    I have this McLaren F1 Prototype model from TSM I bought it back in 2019 from the the company website and cost me about $280 brand new and now you can’t even look at those prices online but regarding Solido they’re a great model company for that price range I have their Skyline and Mustang Shelby GT500 models both amazing

    i have the tsm harrods 51 version and its one of my top models in my collection. they did such a great job despite it not having the best quality paint of my collection with some underspray in very small areas. the solido is a good budget alternative but it has the same shape issue like the minichamps f1 i have which has slightly smaller shaped headlights than the much more accurate tsm version. still great models though and its good to see options for every budget!

    The headsets were to hear each other inside. Like jaguar with the xj-15, racing cars for the road can be very very noisy inside the cabin.

    I have both the Autoart and Solido model, base on this video I checked both together, there are some diferences here and there but the overall shape is very similar. I think it could be posible that Solido did use an Autoart body for the base for the mold and then modify it.
    Then vents and air intakes are different.
    There is another very similar case, with the Diablo SV made by Autoart and Welly, both are Really similar in the body mold.

    For me Solido is the brand that offers the best bang for the buck.
    I am not a diehard collector (also i don't have the money to be) and Solido offers me enough quality for an entry level model.

    Great models Great review as always I have the autoart mclaren f1 lm and the tsm mclaren f-1 lm and both are highly detailed and beautiful the autoart mclaren f1 lm might be higher in quality than the tsm version from what I can see having both

      The Autoart has been compared with the TSM many times on YT & various forums. Consistently, the AutoArt is considered the better model...but not by much.

      @lenderification ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diecastden yes definitly autoart is better but not by much like you said, now I am looking forward to a mclaren f-1 from lcd models heard about their plan to release their own version of the mclaren f-1 a while back , now i've been on the lookout for it ever since

    Nice video. I used to have the Solido in the exact same colour. However, what put me off the model the most was the overall shape, it is just not accurate at all. They definitely did not use an AUTOart or TSM mold for it. Also, I don't know if you noticed this, the steering wheel is connected to the wrong side of the axle, which means it steers in opposite direction of the wheels.

    • @diecastden
      @diecastden  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, like I said, I stand corrected on the mold! The Solido is still a great bargin for those on a budget, I would check the steering but unfortunately, the model is no longer in my possesion. Interesting fact though.

    The solido is very solid for its price, the only thing that's really bad is the stance, it looks like it has negative rake

    Solido USP is based on factors like enhancement of affordability with best possible effort of adherence to originality and they are right now the best in this job in the market!

    Not to mention, Solido's QC is pretty iffy. 2 out of 3 of my Z-era Solido models have qc problems.

    The XP1LM was not the prototype for the McLaren F1 production car, rather it was the prototype for the McLaren F1 LM, of which five were made to honor the five McLaren GTRs at the 1995 Le Mans. This is based off the modified production car, which became the GTR, which was made to spec for race regulations. Ultimately, this was a quicker car than the production F1, but an overall slower car at 225 mph because of the modifications causing drag. There were only 6 of these made, which were the five produced for sale off of this prototype and the sixth being the XP1LM as the other five are F1 LMs. I believe Ralph Lauren owns one of the five of these that were made, and I think the prototype is at Woking along with the Ueno Clinic number 59 GTR winner and other rare McLarens like the MP4/4 F1 car. I believe Lewis Hamilton was offered this actual prototype by McLaren if he won the title while racing for them a certain year. Obviously, he didn’t. Great video. Get an Amalgam up! I saw one at a McLaren dealership near my house and they sell them in the dealerships. I was hooked on the real P1 they had for sale though.

    It is sad how wrong Solido got the proportions. I mean, people somehow says that about a lot of kyosho models, which I find not to be the case. But in this case, it's way off... I wonder why. They are supposed to scan every car to get to model them. Do they assume the distortions without doing comparable in order to make the most models they can in 1 year? I find the same thing in GT Spirit models (which in the end is the same French group). Why is that, just why? It's not serious job to me.

      Also, it's a good point that one is the prototype and one the production model, but Autoart does the production Model and the Solido (the back at least) is still way off.
