A bit late to reply, but the irony lies in the fact that the audio director of the Forza Motorsport series (FM4 and prior) ended up leaving Turn10 and started working for Polyphony Digital. One reason why Forza Motorsport sound quality has diminished and GT games now have acceptable sound.
for me, it's kinda strange that the F1 GTR-L here is expensive but unsuccessful irl in 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans (albeit somehow successful in 1997 FIA GT Championship), while the the CLK-LM is 3 million cheaper than the F1 but successful in 1998 FIA GT.

Nah the LM was Mercedes car for 1998 and by then Mclaren had pulled out. The F1 GTR LongTail was the CLK GTRs rival in 1997.

McLarens F1 models are more expensive than the Mercedes-Benz CLK based models IRL which is what PD/Hagerty bases the prices off of.
You're paying for the heritage not what races it won. The engineering in some of these cars is insane and the price reflects that.
This car won GT1 class in Le Mans 1997 race and came second overal. So it was very successful in racing.
