In some parts I could almost feel how sick and desperate he felt and at others how heart broken and hurt she was when he was lying to himself about how he really felt for her. Just incredible! SPOILERS: I did not like the ending scene in the elevator. I get that it makes sense for her to take over the company, but I cared more about the characters than the whole business plot. "I am nothing like you and I don't have to be" would've been the perfect closing line for the film.

SPOILERS:
I did not like the ending scene in the elevator. I get that it makes sense for her to take over the company, but I cared more about the characters than the whole business plot. "I am nothing like you and I don't have to be" would've been the perfect closing line for the film.

I thought that line was his happy ending and the elevator one was her happy ending.
@IAmTurboman well, irl if she wasn't his wife and she tried to take over company by blackmail while being random girl turning on rich people for money she would end up waiting for identification.
@@Petaurista13 that's what I didn't like in the end, it was too unrealistic, I don't care if it's a movie, the ending didn't fit their relationship or what happened before, if at the end she surprisingly turned out to be his wife this whole time then yes that would have been a better story and ending

Funny how this fucked up romcom about a dominatrix and her client has a more genuine romance than whatever Twilight, 50 Shades, 365 days, After and every other trashy "romance" movie franchises had tried to do in this past decade.
Nothing about what goes on in this movie is genuine. She torments him for an entire night because of her own fucked up mentality. And the end could very well be her succeeding in convincing him to give her a position as CEO.

holy shit why is this movie THIS good? It has romance, drama, psychological thrill, and comedy. I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell everywhere but this might be one of my fav movies from now on

Just watched it and the fact that it takes place mere minutes away from where I live made me redownload dating apps.
I honestly think knowing the ending to this going in can be very helpful in enjoying it as opposed to just dealing with all that tension. Depends on what you're looking for.

I felt this movie had a great premise. The trailer and teaser I got made me think it would be like "The Menu", in terms of how screwed up it would be.
It was still quite good, but I just got pissed off at that ending. It was so dumb.
I just saw Christopher Abbott playing the absolute worst human being in the lesbian period piece The World To Come. Great performances all around, not just from him. Too bad that I really hated the ending.
a very pointless and nitpicky thing to say, but as a watch tech I can tell you that a $32,000 watch is probably waterproof. Esp if the watch is supposed to be a rolex, they have screw down crowns. There’s your engagement from me today lol

Love Christopher Abbott too, he's always consistently good and if a film of his is ever at a film fest I'm in my seat. My friend bailed on me so I saw this alone, which was a big mistake on her part - huge!
This sounds great, really intelligent and nuanced but it reminded me of a similar play called Venus in Fur and if you haven't seen that then you're in for a treat. The subj matter is the same whereas the plot is not but its wickedly clever and Mind Fing. I hope this one comes to netflix, its my best shot at seeing new movies, thanks for the review!
I never read it because I can't stand straight porn but I heard in Venus in Furs the woman is just a straight up abusive asshole which would be the exact opposite of the dominatrix in this film.
