Grow in 90's football, I always remember Del Piero trademark plays... dribbling from the left side of the pitch, cutting inside... then curls the ball into the far top corner or the goal. Truly one of the legend of the game.
People too often forget that this guy from 96 to 98 before he got injured was the only human being who could be in the argument for best player in the world with Ronaldo......and who saw ronaldo in those days knows we are talking about something never seen before or after.
Yes. Playing (back in the days) in the hardest league (by far) with the strongest Defenders. Back when Defenders didn't get a Yellow card even After almost killing a player. No Var etc...
I partially agree with you because I think while young Del Piero exhibited exceptional technique and speed, he lacked the vision and versatility to be considered a complete player. However, his injury forced him to adapt, resulting in a more intelligent, matured and team-oriented player with improved technique.
The 2006/07 relegation is not the worst thing Del Piero has had to face - by far! Imagine it's 1998 and you're one of the best players in the world. Juventus threw away its last Ballon d'Or winner (Baggio) to give you his place and gave you the number 10 shirt (which means everything!); imagine you're only 24 and have played 3 consecutive Champions League finals (1996/97/98); imagine you're the Italian number 10 in France 1998 World Cup (there couldn't be a greater honor)… and imagine you almost lost everything you'd earned by destroying your left knee for a useless tackle against Udinese (November 8th, 1998). Imagine that now you need a year to recover and when you come back you're lacking a bit of confidence that you simply don't have inside you anymore. Imagine you're back playing for the national team, but something in you is still missing. You had 2 chances against the French goalkeeper in the Euro 2000 final, you missed and France ends up with the cup. Imagine that in the following season (2000/2001) your talent is in question... and imagine that your father dies shortly before a league match, against Bari. It’s February 18th ,2001, Carlo Ancelotti puts you on the bench, but at a certain point he puts you on the pitch and somehow your genius returns and you score the winning goal with a piece of pure beauty. And then you are yourself again. This is what Alessandro Del Piero went through
As a Juventino for over 40 years, I was so excited to see Del Piero play in Australia for Sydney FC at the end of his amazing career. Obviously he was beyond his peak but still showed flashes of brilliance and was very good with the constant attention from the fans and media.
Amazing interview, thank you very much from a real Juve fan. This guy for us is not a person, he's a true legend! Always so wise, balanced and respectful towards everybody. It's not true that people hated him because he was Juve captain during 2006's scandal: all the other team's fans always respected him exactly for this humility and simplicity. So sad and shame that nowadays he's not a Juve manager: we all hope that a day will become our President, he definitely deserves it! Grande Alex, per sempre il nostro capitano.
Football in my childhood time was full of AC Milan. In newspaper, magazine, TV, everywhere (early 1990s). But my heart never drove me to like and love AC Milan. 'Suddenly' Juventus appeared when I watched some of Serie A games in one period of my time, I think it's when early Del Piero appeared to be the replacement every time Baggio didn't play or went out. And when I watched him play for the first time, that's the time that changed my world. My heart told me that finally I found my idol and I found the club I would love, forever. Ever since I started to watch Juve and Del Piero every time they play live on TV. And actually it's really hard, especially when Juve play in UCL. Here in Indonesia it's aired at 01.45 AM or 02.45 AM depend on the schedule. And I was at 3rd grade elementary school at that time. It's heartbreaking when he got serious knee injury in 1998. It changed him a lot. But my love for him never changed. My love and respect to my lovely captain, Alessandro Del Piero. You will be my hero forever and I'm 41 now. Forza Del Piero. Forza Juve.
I'm a Madrid fan, and I remember watching the pregame to one of the Man City v Real games, and it was Foden and someone else on City just sending these amazing crazy diagonal passes to each other. Del Piero is watching it and the camera is on Foden and Del Piero. Foden gestures him over with his head and the look that Del Piero had on his face, it was like watching someone going through sobriety about to break. But it was more like passion and not obsession or abuse. It was tragically beautiful.
Old memories of Del piero in a bianco nero Jersey scoring a free kick against Real Madrid still vivid in my mind. What a player….cant wait to see him as a coach…Legend.ll.Capitano 👏
Amazing stuff. I love all of them trying to get some new stuff from Alex. You wont get Alessandro going for something "incredible" to say. He never said anything out of the lines. His lines. Thats why we love and respect first the man, here, then the amazing player he was.
Thank you for this interview, Del piero is my forever favorite player…. his english is improved so much, so proud of him…. Del piero, Juventus, Italy 2006…. That was my last n the best world cup to me, n he scored in it, n even he also scored in the penalty of the final match
Very smart and very humble, my idol in football since the beginning.. him and Baggio for me are the best ever… along side Maradona ……. No one can even get close to them Solo un Capitano …… un Capitano

I've been a Milanista for 30 years but I've always loved this guy, even while he was playing for Juve. Absolute legend as a player and a wonderful guy. Definitely deserves a statue. He is in the same class as Maldini, which is the highest.
Being a juventus fan I watched del piero his whole time at juventus. What a player and my favourite ever juventus player. Followed juventus 30 years here in Ireland.
Che personalita', che persona... Apart from being reaaly a painter on the pitch, what a fun person Alex Del Piero is.. It's refreshing, he is great.. : )
I remember the pair Zidane-Del Piero was the best in Europe. All the teams were afraid of Juve because of their solid defense and these 2 magicians. I also think that Del Piero played at his best level when he had Zidane and Inzaghi next to him, they really completed each other: Zidane as the playmaker and Inzaghi made the runs so that Del Piero could have the freedom.
I am a fan of inter Milan, but I have to say there is a lot of respect and love for Del Piero especially the way he talks about Juventus, like in the end when he said that it was always the best place for him that just gave me goosebumps
You may not like Juve if you are a Milan or Inter fan, but you have to respect Del Piero, the loyalty he had when Bianconeri relegated to Serie B, never abandon his team and fight them back to Serie A and back to the pinnacle. this guy, alongside with Maldini and Totti, is the real embodiment of loyalty. I love this 3 guys to death.
I subscribed to this channel just because of Del Piero, what a great Player and person, he is someone that inspire everyone inside and outside the field. Love You Alex e Forza Juve sempre
Del Piero goal against Man Utd at Old Trafford in 1997 after less than i minute played was the first time i saw him play. That shirt, that swagger, what a player.
@@gustenvarius80 it was through Football Italia but also through the Juventus Manchester United clashes from 96-2003 that I really came across him. I didn't realise he was so fluent in English
the reason I felt in love in football, Juventus and seria-a league, Italy national team is Allessandro Del Piero. It is my dream to see him even for a few seconds. He was the reason for so many smiles and even tears in my life! The only one bigger than Juve for me is him.
I’ve been a Juve fan for 34 years and I’ve seen amazing players wear the jersey but ADP will always be my favourite player. I named my oldest son after him ⬜️⬛️
The player that made me fall in love with club football and I've been a Juventus fan ever since. What makes Alex a legend of the game is his simple approach. He did great things in big moments with the least effort. A classic touch on the ball. What makes him stand out from the others though, was how composed he was during his career. I literally can't remember any moment in which he acted wrongly. Simply put, a true role model on and off the pitch.
For us that grow up in the 2000s as a kid, it's very nostalgic when thinking about that era. Italy was stacked with great players and legends, Nesta, Maldini, Totti, Del Pierro, De Rossi, Buffon, Pirlo, young Chiellini lol. And from other nations, Beckham, Owen, Zidane, Casillas, Raul, Puyol, young Ramos lol, Henry, Riquelme, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo R9, young Cristiano lol, Figo, Ferdinand, Nedved, Zanetti, prime Ibrahimovic, Roberto Carlos, Kaka, and many more. What a time to be alive.
14:34 This is why I put R9 Ronaldo and Maradona as the greatest. They proved themselves against the toughest defenders in the world. Italians and the Italian league itself were brutal.
Acting like Messi didnt wipe his backside with Maldini. In fact Maldini explicitly said hes glad he retired when Messi was coming up. Not to mention he played against many rough defenders like Pepe for example. Being rough doesn't necessarily mean better
@@yeahbutnobutyeahbutno7479 to be fair, that was a "just reaching his prime" Messi vs a 40 year old Maldini, even if it's just in theory. You could probably point out that Nesta was cooked by both Ronaldo (Fenomeno) and Messi, but he played against the 1st when he was in his Prime, and against the 2nd at the end of his career
Still remember the first time fell in love to Juve and admire this man - was in final Toyota Cup '96 where Juve played River Plate and ADP scored the winning goal...
Ale explains very well what it means to be a Juventus player. You represent the most supported and biggest club in Italy. You have a great responsibility and must be a shining light. ADP certainly was 100% of the time
As a reasonably small player in a very physical Serie A (late 90s to early 2000), Del Piero stands like a giant to defenders. His flair, football IQ and dont forget his favorite angle from either left or right corner of penalty box always delivered. Che grandissimo fantasista! Del Piero, Inzaghi, Zidane, Davids, and you have Thuram guarding at the back
I am not a big soccer fan, I have never even played soccer. However, Del Piero has always been one of my heroes, and that has to do with his humility. He inspired me to do my best in everything I did. I gave 100 percent in my studies because he pushed me to do so. He is incredible.
Above all, Alex Del Piero is a very clever guy. You may get this from the way he speaks (in a language which is not his mother tongue) and for what he says. I agree, he clearly deserves a statue and a role in the present squad. He is like Totti or Maldini or Baresi who are respected by everybody, regardless of the team we are rooting for
Grande Pinturicchio, for me the best Italian player that ever wore football boots , unreal talent, techique, vision... Whenever he got the ball you knew its going to be magic. Italy shot itself in the foot with Calciopoli , they might never reach the same hights as before it, still 4 times world champions. Currently they dont have a single world class player and are a joke, same as the league.
I'd argue Roberto Baggio was a little more talented than Del Piero, more successful as a scorer in the WC. But Del Piero came close second and arguably won much more than Baggio.
Alex è la Juve. Uomo vero, capitano, fuoriclasse. Non ne esistono più così. Capaci di firmare contratti in bianco e di cucirsi la maglia sul petto. Mi reputo fortunato di essere nato negli anni 80’ così da essermi potuto godere ogni suo momento sul campo. Grazie.
It's crazy to think how much respect Del Piero has earned by all Italian fans, even if he was the most important player of Juventus at the time (and arguably one of the best in the history of the club, alongside Platini), despite all the rivalries and criticisms Juventus usually has to face by other teams' supporters. One of the most loved players of the nation despite playing basically all of his career in one of the most "hated" clubs.
Clint is always crushing it. “Craven Cottege and a chip” Great line. Love the show. Kate Scott, Charlie Davies, and of course the occasional guest host Mo Edu 😂😂😂. Great show keep them coming please.
Huge respect for Del Piero, Buffon and Camoranesi (they were Word Cup winners playing in second division), also Nedved, Trezeguet for staying at Juventus in 2006. I mean, Buffon cut his salary and basically renounce to Ballon d'Or (Cannavaro deserved it, but Buffon was going to win it he had the numbers before the choice to remain at Juve)
I really appreciated the conversation about the season in Serie B. As a fan I actually loved this season. But like Ale said after that first game ended in a draw I thought.. oh this is going to interesting. Ale scored some great goals but my personal favourite was the winner against Germany in the SF of 2006 World Cup. Magic.
All respect to Del Piero. He is a truly singular player. But on Deuce talking about wearing his emotions on his sleeve, that's what makes him a legend for the USMNT.

Del Piero was and still is my role model! A gentleman and great player.
Amazing stuff. I love all of them trying to get some new stuff from Alex. You wont get Alessandro going for something "incredible" to say. He never said anything out of the lines. His lines. Thats why we love and respect first the man, here, then the amazing player he was.
More Del Piero content! He is great to listen to. One of the best players if all time. Legend
Humble, world class, plays the most beautiful type of football, and loyal. Last of his kind.
No one can even get close to them
Solo un Capitano …… un Capitano
the guy that always have a CLASS in every words he spoke, such a gentlemen & true juventino. love you Alex
Capitano mio capitano was my fav banner when i was at stadium. Ciao Alessandro. Cheers guys. Love from Torino.
❤❤❤ always my hero in football, i love juventus because of him, i even named my son alessandro. i get to meet him in jakarta in a meet and greet with the other juventus legends! a bit sad that he didnt get to play in the game vs indonesian legends. still follow him until today on social media. always respect my captain!
I've been a Milanista for 30 years but I've always loved this guy, even while he was playing for Juve. Absolute legend as a player and a wonderful guy. Definitely deserves a statue. He is in the same class as Maldini, which is the highest.
del pierro is not just a juventus' legend and very good footballer he is a good man and its enough to love him!
I also think that Del Piero played at his best level when he had Zidane and Inzaghi next to him, they really completed each other: Zidane as the playmaker and Inzaghi made the runs so that Del Piero could have the freedom.
nobody was afraid of Del Piero ahaha. Overrated as shite.
Glad Man United neutralized them on their way to the 99 ucl trophy.
Del Piero is the reason I started supporting Juventus and Italy :)
Such a fun person to listen to. Love Del Piero😘😘😘
Del Piero is a class act through and through. Live long and prosper champ. Thanks to Kate and Clint and Charlie for the great interview.
Franco Baresi?
@@andjelkozlotvor this guy is a legend as well. However i m not that old enough to witness his greatness.
@@minchutong9296 Of course he is. Legendary Alex.
@@minchutong9296 as a Juve fan, I reciprocate my respect for Paolo Maldini, one of the greatest defenders and true leader.
The legend, Mr. Juventus, Alessandro Del Piero.
Waiting for the day that he is back home at Juventus.
I named my oldest son after him ⬜️⬛️
they dont have to build a statue, he is legendary like this
Ale was my childhood hero, my inspiration as a teens, and my role model (as Family Man) as an adult.
Welcome to seoul...!
Today's match is unbelievable...!
He was always the first name on my teamsheet when I was sitting down the back of class in primary school aged 8. 🤍🖤
my childhood and Winning Eleven hero, the one & only la Grande Alex il Capitano
Alessandro Del Piero was the first player name I learned.
What a footballer. What a person. What a legend.
Who’d have thought Del Piero would have been so articulate and engaging in interview ?
ALEXANDRO DEL PIERO because of you and ZIDANE i love JUVENTUS so much love and respect Capitano Forza JUVE sempre
Del piero the best futboll player ever.95-96-97-98-2003-2005-2006 was the greatest player of all time. Real Madrid fan.
True. I agree on each year. But for me also in 2007 2008 ADP was one of the best in serieA, but his team was very weak.
He was poetry in motion .
Del Piero is HIM 👑
14:34 This is why I put R9 Ronaldo and Maradona as the greatest. They proved themselves against the toughest defenders in the world. Italians and the Italian league itself were brutal.
100% agree, and is why I dont rate Haaland highly
Acting like Messi didnt wipe his backside with Maldini. In fact Maldini explicitly said hes glad he retired when Messi was coming up. Not to mention he played against many rough defenders like Pepe for example. Being rough doesn't necessarily mean better
exactly, back then the defenders were gladiators...facing world class defenders every week, not like now
@@yeahbutnobutyeahbutno7479 to be fair, that was a "just reaching his prime" Messi vs a 40 year old Maldini, even if it's just in theory.
You could probably point out that Nesta was cooked by both Ronaldo (Fenomeno) and Messi, but he played against the 1st when he was in his Prime, and against the 2nd at the end of his career
@@NIDELLANEUM Nesta gave a pretty hard time to Messi, even out of prime. Was never cooked by him.
Del Piero, Inzaghi, Zidane, Davids, and you have Thuram guarding at the back
You mean Montero? Thuram didn't play alongside Zidane at Juve
@@hafnican yea youre right, Thuram played with Nedved. Paolo Montero is underrated af tho
I am not a big soccer fan, I have never even played soccer. However, Del Piero has always been one of my heroes, and that has to do with his humility. He inspired me to do my best in everything I did. I gave 100 percent in my studies because he pushed me to do so.
He is incredible.
He stole my heart when I was 9 years old. Still adore him.
pure love for Alex, I never forget how much was my tears in his last match
Oh! That's Alex! I'm just gonna watch a couple of min...
45 minutes later... ❤❤
Grazie.
👑🇮🇹DEL PIERO IL MIO IDOLO FORZA ITALIA🇮🇹👑
He introduces me to football. He made me love football. Eventhough my dad bought me man utd jersey
It's crazy to think how much respect Del Piero has earned by all Italian fans, even if he was the most important player of Juventus at the time (and arguably one of the best in the history of the club, alongside Platini), despite all the rivalries and criticisms Juventus usually has to face by other teams' supporters.
One of the most loved players of the nation despite playing basically all of his career in one of the most "hated" clubs.
thanks for this interview
An absolute icon of a player and along with few other Italians brought class and style to the pitch which lives on though players now.
Pre 98 Alex was the main man at Juve. He better than Zizou and challenging the greatness of R9
It was baggio then del piero, then zz took over
That injury😪
@@leonhall856 Young Del Piero was kinda pushing Baggio out of the first team with his brilliance towards the end of Baggio's tenure with them.
@@jzlnz "Better than Zizou" 🤣🤣🤣yes yes 🤣🤣🤣
@@titanio784 yes. Seems you started watching football after France 98. Pity
Genuine legend and comes across well
nothing beat staying at your relegated club as a fresh world cup winner star striker, bring them back right away to serie a...my forever captain
Del Piero and Giggs were my favourite players.
i enjoyed watching this very much. Alex is humble when he talks
Clint is always crushing it. “Craven Cottege and a chip” Great line. Love the show. Kate Scott, Charlie Davies, and of course the occasional guest host Mo Edu 😂😂😂. Great show keep them coming please.
late 90s, started watching football. Del Piero, Zidane, Davids. What a team Juventus had.
Inter fan here, Del Piero is probably the only juve player I have respect.
I was born in 1996 so I was a kid during the end of "peak Juve" and del Piero will always bring a smile to my face
Magic.
Italian Royalty
All respect to Del Piero. He is a truly singular player. But on Deuce talking about wearing his emotions on his sleeve, that's what makes him a legend for the USMNT.
One of the best episodes ever👌🏼❤️
Legenda!!!
What a gentleman, what a great player he was. Great Interview 👌
DEL PIERO FOREVER! ❤ ⚫️⚪️
The one and only Del Piero 👌
