      It is a little hard to imagine! I think there is a huge stope up near the top where most of the waste rock is coming from.

    REALLY LOVE THIS SERIES!!!
    REOPENING MINES, EVEN IF THEY ARE ONLY MUSEUMS IS JUST EXCELLENT!!!
    I dare say, there is no better way to inspire people than to let them go into a real live, genuine mine, even if it is not actually being worked.
    At one point in time, at least 175,000 people made their living mining here in the USA...
    I do not know how many it is now, but it SHOULD be MANY MORE!
    WE DO HAVE THE MINERALS between Canada and the US, to be entirely self sufficient and NOT dependent on China!
    We SHOULD be independent of ANY other country!

    Nice work and interesting stuff. Just an idea - maybe put up some kind of basic map showing the mine layout. Might give the subscribers an overview of where you guys are in the mine and exactly what we’re looking at. Until next week 👍

    Right now that seems like the sketchiest mine you've been in. All that waste rock just randomly sliding out of stopes... You never know when one may let loose!

      As you remove it from the bottom anything it is holding in place slides down.

      The stopes are not really on the mine maps that we have. The #2 shaft isn't on any maps.

    Ok Frank, I'm just a bit confused. All that waste changing addresses, I'm not sure I'd want to be in there. At least it is not as wet as some of the mines you have explored. BTW, who owns the mineral rights, Crown or private?

      The stope never was supported. The timbers held up planks that the miners worked on.

      Unfortunately when it slid I was on one side and my camera on the other. It was like a river, I couldn't cross until it stopped.

    Would love to see Jason from mbmm go in and test some of those spots. You might be sitting on a gold mine (see what I did there) at today’s values. Either way great job on the winter content, super interesting.

      Around 1900 Gold was $18 an ounce but the miners were paid only $3 a day so in in real terms Gold isn't worth any more than it was back then.

    I sure hope all that shifting muck doesn't cause a hanging wall collapse, but I don't remember seeing any collapses like that in your mine. Is there any?

      There are some slabs that sheared off near the surface in an open stope.

    Frank, with all the waste rock, are you eventually gonna get an electric mucker to help clean all that out? I don't know what kind of power requirements are needed but it seems it would help you out a lot to get rid of all that waste.

      Muckers run on compressed air. I t really does not male sense to drop the muck on the floor and then shovel it into an ore car. Much more practical to load it right into the ore car.

      No if we started to mine it we would have a lot of rules to follow permits. inspections and so forth. It would be too much trouble.

      No they are waste rock. The minerals are in the quartz. We have been sorting that out. However we don't own the mineral rights and there are no mills that we know of that we could ship the ore to.

      @@exploringabandonedmines You could have MBMM come up and take some samples back and crush and run through his machines, he's done that for Jeff Williams, Dan Hurd, and even for the guy that owns the Cerro Gordo mine. As someone once said, It Never Hurts To Try!
