  • We head back into the Phoenix Mine, get some awesome ore carts for the museum and show you the many awesome places including the spectacular parts still frozen in ice!
    We've explored hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada the United States and Mexico, going places nobody else would dare to go! A New video is produced every Friday, check us out here:
    • Newest To Oldest Videos
    We do this for two main reasons:
    1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
    2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
    Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
    This is all about mining and mining exploration. Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
    This isn't like Minecraft or Ghost Town Living but if you want to visit some real historic Abandoned Mines...
    Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada.The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.
    Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com/maps/place/Exp...

    Hey, their pushing and pulling wheelies, getting their workout in. Giant bar bells. Plus, how to salvage an ore cart 2.0. Intricate work on wheel removal. Did you know Frank was a mechanic, i didn't know. Must be a Jack of all trades. Stope A and stope B, lots of tonnage of ore missing. Kudos to those who helped Frank and Sharon.

The history filmed in this single episode is awesome. Good job on rescuing various items to put an authentic finish to your rebuild. Those wheels though - go team Frank and Sharon. A real shame you weren't able to get the body to the cart, can't fault your great team effort in trying. No messing about with Sharon then, after seeing her physical strength! 💪 💪 I loved that those old wheels had all the manufacturing/identification marks, so cool. EPIC show. Thank you. Was there some sort of assistance provided when dumping ore or waste rock by tipping the carts? Mine carts were usually one-ton or two-ton carts (imperial or metric, it's still damned heavy) which makes it hard to imagine one person getting the tilting started before the cart body was at enough of an angle that the material would react to gravity. I've never seen this addressed in any other mine videos. While some mine explorers try to shame anyone who removes anything from a mine I believe there are certain times that mines are in such an advanced degree of decay that soon they will be closed off denying anyone the opportunity to view the mine and its artifacts. As long as your museum remains open to the public I'm glad to see you 'saving' these artifacts. Thanks for the video.

    • @exploringabandonedmines
      @exploringabandonedmines  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes there are a few places in Phoenix where you can see an I-beam that would have a pulley on it to dump ore cars. In later years they were replaced with the Granby Automatic Dumping Ore Cars. Invented in Phoenix 1905 by the Granby Smelting and Power Company and still used worldwide today!

    Great to see those old ore carts! be amazing to see one of them wood ones restored/put back together the way they did back in the 1800s! raw wood, iron and all. Maybe clear coat or wax coat the iron after a light rust scailing/wire brushing, have always thought to myself there is something bout the look of old raw hand wrought and smithed iron that helps the imagination bring the conditions,the way things were built, and what they looked like while being used all those years ago to mind.Either way is a good save! holy! you guys well deserve some good praise for hauling those artifacts out! nice work and really enjoyed the vid thanks for sharing!

    Amazing! What a job! Got a mine for you South of Tucson .. the old Mowbry mine .. was active in the 1880/1900 era and again in the early 50's. At the main shaft it's a rock drop of 5 seconds! I did it three times to verify the time and to hear them hit a dry bottom. How deep is a 5 second drop? Somebody has cut an access hole thru the protective barrier to the shaft. I do plan on visiting the museum one of these days. Then you can show me that wheel and axle set .. LOL
