  • More excitement in the Abandoned Yankee Boy Mine! Joined by a team of volunteers, we reach the collapse 400 feet in with our ore car. Then we start removing the material blocking the main haul level to discover what lies beyond. What will we find?
This is a fast paced and exciting Mine Exploration Channel. We have been in hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada, United States and Mexico. Join us underground and we will show you things no human has seen for decades! A fast paced, exciting channel that will not bore you. Visit our website exploringabandonedmines.com for directions, exciting pictures and merch.
Why do we explore mines? Two reasons
    1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
    2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
This is all about mining and mining exploration. Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display. We have recently purchased a nearby abandoned Gold mine and moving our musem there. This will enable us to take people underground to learn about mining history.
Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com...
We have a new website site exploringabandonedmines.com once there you can see how the mine is doing, support the channel and buy merch, we have stickers, hats, hoodies, t shirts and mugs. New items being added.

I know this a month ago know, but that material coming down is ABSOLUTELY perfect for backfill/trails - roads! With the water draining at the dump point, it's almost a perfect mix of wet with the material-makes it pack excellent. Plus really is a double bonus on the labor/return ratio, as all materials being purposed to immediate improvement. Truly hope nothing more serious wrong up that shaft though, it does seem to be a lot of lumber coming out of the muck. Look forward to the progress beyond that shaft!
    Good luck, Cheers to all.

Ftank, I had over 700 loads out the door from where they blew up the main intersection. What we were digging out was fock and dirt from three levels above us. The ground collapsed next to tunnel no.3 above us and opened up a shaft that went down to where we were gigging. We then had to shore up the upper end of that shaft to keep the rocks from raining on us.

This is fascinating, a lot of work but this is how it was done and it's great to see it documented. Good work!! At 17:40 I think we see the real reason they put in a 2 - 3 % slope to the adit. Sure it helps with drainage but saves a lot of backache too.

Frank, we spiraled through that bad area when we got it to quit raining rock, We got a huge pile of used road grader blades from the county and drove then in the roof then used a hydralic ram to push up and put pressure on the blades then shored under the blades.

You have to drive drift at least +1/2% grade . If you don't, the face will always be under water and your drift will eventually flood . That is why you drill the far right lifter (bottom hole) at a negative grade which makes a ditch that will drain water to the entrance or shaft . It doesn't hurt the trip out with a train of loaded cars is downhill .
