2022 XSR900 Kelpi Full Exhaust!

- Hi! So i did it! Picked an exhaust, same place I got the seat cover from, Kelpi Custom Moto from australia. I got their Full system with a shorty pipe, and man, it is a sweet exhaust! Came in three parts, the mid pipe even has a cat! I was feeling a little guilty about not having one, but now i don't have to! I'll just feel a little guilty about running it without the baffle. It's a little loud, but it sounds great!! Easy install, and super nice construction. I still need to mess with the position a little bit, as the can is real close to the brake lever and my foot :D
Install was pretty easy, id advise having some ratchet extensions and a wobble bit to get the headers off. Dont need to remove the radiator, but it def needs to move out of the way a bit.
I stuck the mic under the seat to avoid wind noise, i think it worked pretty well! It seems maybe a little unhappy about the volume, but hey its a 30 dollar lav mic from amazon :D

I have a 2019 xsr900...I did the carbon Akrapovic...It was popping loudly so I deleted all smog and installed the Graves block off plates kit...then took my ecu to a local bike shop for tuning...Its been 5 years and still runs great...enjoy!

Very tempted with the XSR,to replace my Speed Twin,but a stock exhaust system a total No,No. This set up is by far the best looking and sounding I have seen......Perfect🔥🔥🔥
hell yeah! the speed twin is awesome and i was looking at them, but its hard to beat the xsr. 7000 happy miles so far!

I have the full cp3 & alpha for my 2022 from Kelpi custom. I absolutely love the whistle into those sweet backfires but that full shorty system gives such a deep growl of aggression its a thing of beauty. Congrats on the bike & exhaust man! Enjoy ride safe
nice! yeah im still blown away by the quality of it. it is so choice... its starting to get some sick coloration on it, im about to upload a short walk around close up vid with some close ups of it. it looks great! and i love the little blips and pops it makes when downshifting or decelerating.. so good :D

Hey Chris when you put it together you put the bracket on the collector on the outside it should be on the inside that's why it touches the rear brake
Sounds awesome! They always feel faster with a pipe...Because you can feel the thump in your chest...and wrist.
The mt09 gains like 4hp from an exhaust alone without even any flashing so that's likely same 4hp you're feeling. Flash may get it in the 10-12 range but we won't know for sure til I can get the ecu part number. I'm gonna call yamaha Monday but I assume it's the same one in the mt09 sp since it shares all the same features and engine.
yeah i believe that. after riding more its got a bit more poke for sure. id guess its the same to but who knows.. i mean yamaha does of course hopefully they share that info :D

I think you made the right choice. But I always wanted a triple for the intake noises and I feel like a loud exhaust mutes that cool part but it honestly sounds like my old r1 did. Difference here is you can pull under 65mph with the xsr and the r1 can't. Anytime I was having fun I was committing a felony lol. I put in my xsr order 2 days ago. Only 6 months wait to go?😭
yeah seriously. this bike is super fun at reasonable speeds, and its still very capable of getting into the very not ok for public street speeds :D hope you dont have to wait 6 months, but if you do just know itll be worth the wait!
@@chriswittman4975 keep the mod videos coming. I'm currently living through you! All I saw as far as exhausts was the m4 and the akra this one is way better. Hoping to find a flush fender eliminator I don't like the license plate hanging look.
thanks! ill try and keep em coming. and yeah the other exhausts out there are pretty weak. the kelpi pipes are boss as hell! they look even nicer in person. i hope the sound came through in the vid, its so good. kinda drowns out the intake noise, but worth the trade id say. and i want to ditch the fender too! kelpi has one in the works ill likely get :D

Ha yeah, without the baffle.. I always ride with earplugs so it sounds perfect to me. Until I take a short trip or forget plugs, then I’m like.. ok this is pretty loud 😂. Super helps with lane splitting though!

Is it possible to put the baffle in the wrong way?
Got XSR 900 2023 with full shorty system, l got a bike mechanic to fit for me but when l got it back the guy said put baffle in, but it was very hard to fit and l wasnt sure which way it went in.
But l got it in.
So now l may have to pull it apart myself to see what he did.
Any more vids with revs or fly bys with this exhaust? Mine just got through customs but is still taking forever. I need more sound !!

Rear brakes should not have touched the exhaust. That was a big miss on Kelpi's part.

Ohhh mate that’s sounds amazing! I’ve been on the hunt for an aftermarket exhaust for my Mt09 and all the usual suspects are from the northern hemisphere and half are UE restricted and only stumbled by chance upon this Kelli brand . Dude I’m stoked with all their extras they do for these bikes. I’m from New Zealand, so these being from OZ is like down the road. An Akraprovik? Is $2320nzd compared to $ 1250nzd landed and it won’t have the sht kicked out it through shipping. Brilliant!!

Have you noticed any heat or riding ergonimic issues with the exhaust being so close to your foot?
Nope! With the way it sweeps up I sometimes hit it with the heel of my shoe if I stand up, but mostly it’s not a bother. I asked the guy I was emailing when I bought it why it’s like that, he said for better clearance on hard corners.
I recently saw a guy mounting his plate with the existing bolts under the tail. So I'm just going to do the same maybe get some kind of block off plate in the future.
yeah ive been looking under there and i see how itd be possible.. not sure about getting the light back under there though. ill find a nice tidy someday :)
@@chriswittman4975 ya with an integrated tail light that also functions as blinkers it'll be fine. I've never had a bike so new that there were so little options lol this is rough.

I am considering an XSR900 to compliment my R7 but I might wait and see if the rumored R9 based on this platform comes in 2024. She looks and sounds great friend 🤘😎🎸🏍
Unless you’re all about the r7 for it’s weird little reason of existence, the xsr will make you wanna sell it in a blink of an eye. The new model is pretty damn spectacular. The brakes, and the throttle mapping are my only two complaints. Both easily fixable

Ha no, I just learned to ignore it. My heel taps it occasionally but it’s not a big deal.

I don’t see this model on their website. They have one for xsr900s but it doesn’t appear to have the cool header welds nor does it say it fits 2022 models. Can you share the exact link to the one you bought?
i think theyre getting hit with a lot of requests and havent put it up on the website yet. i got mine by sending them an email to get on a wait list.

Just ordered this in black for 2023 xsr, sounds loud. I already got a headache. By the way, on the Australian site, the cost was 1400, and I just couldn't justify it then I realized its in Australian Kangaroos, so its about 1000 freedoms.
Now you just need a tune. :)

did you have to get a power commander for the exhaust upgrade?
i got it from either revzilla or cyclegear, cant remember which one. its available at a bunch of places.. and no, its just stuck. doesnt seem to need a pc.. im sure it could get a few more hp with one, but im not worried about it. it runs great as is and a few extra hp wont matter much :)

the 2021 does not fit, im told its changed a bit so it doesn't work. i don't know if they have it listed yet, email them directly and ask about it.

Why you clutching
did you get it tuned? they set them up to run lean and this exhaust will make it run leaner. even if you just send off the ecu that will add more fuel. I sent off my xsr700 ecu, that made it ride so much better. then I had my 1050 tiger tuned after I decatted it and sc project slip on. the tuner said I was lucky something didn't seize. I go like the sound for five minutes then I'd put the baffle back in :)
Dosnt ecu change fueling if it runs to lean or what's the piont of a sophisticated computer?. I dont know just thinking common sense. Thanks dude.
There is a thing called the 12 minute tune for triumphs. where you start it up (no revs) and leave it to run for 12 minutes after the fan kicks in. the ECU is supposed to sort it out. but on the first dyno run my fuel was running at the limit of the chart the chart only went to 15 and my air to fuel was running 15. in the UK you can post the ecu off and they put a new map on it to run with the exhaust and a filter change only cost £150. where a tune starts at £350. a new map will sort out the juddering and make it run smoother with a bit more bhp. plus they can increase the rev limits and make the fan kick in at a lower temp.@@kangacrew540

the seat foam is stock, but it has a custom cover from kelpi motorsport.

yeah it could be quieter.. i ride with earplugs in, so it usually sounds great to me. plus people notice me on my commute more, it makes lane filtering easier. also a friend of mine said it sounds great so :D
@@Wanobi99 yeah it comes with a baffle! ill have to try it out with it, it is a little loud. it never bothers me, i ride with the tan 32db earplugs and it keeps it to a nice level. Although the few times i do quick local runs and dont wear them im like 'man this is loud :D' on the plus side, it helps with traffic when lane splitting.
