Dark Souls - Ornstein and Smough (NG+8 & Super Ornstein)

- Holy crap these guys are still so freaking hard. But I did it once again, and I am proud of myself. Dark Magic officially sucks against Ornstein though, and I tried it earlier on Smough and it destroyed him. Hope you all like the vid, it was a lotta fun, even though these guys had me pissed off at one point.

I also survived it, it's easy, you just need the Elite Knight or the Silver Knight Armor, or any armor that's lightning resistant.

It's worth noting that the game stops at NG+6. The multiplicator is set to 3x damage and 3x health at that point, but it doesn't go beyond that. It's a common misconception that NG+7 is harder than NG+6, but they are in fact the same. It's also worth noting that NG+6 means seven playthroughs in total, whereas NG+7 is eight. Only the seven first playthroughs are different.
He probably mentioned NG+8 because it's relevant to know an estimate of how levelled his character is.

I don't get why there's any bashing on this video. The Souls games let people overcome challenges and have fun doing so. Different people are capable of different levels of challenge. This was a straight up fight with no glitches or hacks. Congrats. Also, I'm so used to Dark Souls 2 now seeing more than 12 Estus flasks looks funny to me :P
After seeing this on WatchMojo's top ten, I thought you were bad, I mean, buffed katana, power within, greatshield.
Then I came here and saw NG+8. Nevermind.

A similar scenario happened when I first beat Ornstein. He and I both had double digits left. I threw caution into the wind and stuck the final blow. Closest victory ever.

You wanna know who also laughs? Second phase Ornstein, when he throws it back. Funnily enough, he didn't use the Banzai Drop even once in this video, however.

One thing that almost always gets me in the fight is Ornsteins lunge. I don't mean when he is in an open area heading straight for me but when the he decides to glitch out and get stuck in the animation either behind Smough or on a pillar and he keeps the dashing move going. Then when he gets set free, he has tendencies of charging right into a previous spot where I was standing when he started to dash, only to do an immediate 90° turn to charge at me instantly. It always gets me by surprise.

Lahkmioul What are you talking about? How does hiding behind one of the best greatshields makes you good at "predicting their moves"? Dodging the hits, that's skill, but the only times he dodges is basically when he has too little stamina to block / has a catalyst instead of the shield... and half of the time he rolled he got hit. Not an above average ds player at all.
Very well played SonofDLK. Great use of magic as well as physical attacks. I remember how I felt when i finally beat these pricks for the very first time (better than sex lol) and that was using the AI summons. For you to be able to beat a boss like this on NG+8 I wish i had half your skill lol. well done bro!

I just got back to them on ng+9 atm, but I'm trying to use only shadow garbs/rapier/pyros. Has been really difficult so far, I feel like last play through it was easier xD I should try the washing pole though! This was a nice video!

The first time I fought these bastards, I couldn't believe not only that I had to fight TWO tough bosses at once, but how unbelievably aggressive they attacked me the moment I walked through the door. It wasn't easy to get there in the first place, but eventually I figured out how to defeat one of them. Then I got another surprise...Super Ornstein. LOL.
It's more stressful if you beat them down together, and when they're both low on health and you kill one, the other one comes back more powerful, and in full health.

it's ironic because I killed them yesterday with my super-cheesy overleveled one-shot build. I will never experience the fun of killing a boss for the first time again.
I still feel good about it. Hard work paid off.
ryder mccall I fought them for about a weekend and for the first two days of the week, dying consistently and trying my hardest not to rage too hard. That didn't stop the occasional screaming of "FUCK!" and "SHIT!" from getting out. Beat them on a Tuesday, walked to my room, and screamed in triumph and happiness.
It was my best moment in Dark Souls, equal to the level of finally beating the Taurus Demon, Queelag, and Seath.
