Pros:
•lightweight
•transport friendly
•fishing style adjustable
•two storage areas
•electric or gas powered bolt on transom
•2-3 inch draft
Cons:
•grab bar in the back is TERRIBLE DO NOT USE IT
•extended time in heat may damage oem sea deck
• transducer mount is good but most likely boat needs to be in the water to install without knocking it off
•adjusting trim doesn’t help me much but maybe a heavier set person, it will be more useful but shallow water mode is a silver lining to it.
•only rated for 6hp wish it was 10hp but you can find a old 9.9 bout the same weight.

Great vid! Been thinking about a tiny boat for remote lakes. This thing looks great! Love your mods. I did notice there is a D ring on your lifejacket that may be a better place to hook your kill cord. Tight lines!

I appreciate it brother! Yeah I get that, she just needs to be that much bigger. Idk what chop is like over there, but I’ve been caught in some nasty wind, but never really felt unsafe until it was paired with boat wakes ping ponging off seawalls. If you have coverage you’re good, but open water..I have to do extra homework to be safe. Tight lines brother!

One piece of advice for you as I saltwater kayak and paddle board weekly and recognized your Tacoma bed 😊. Get some type of liner (I used carpet padding) and cover from your tailgate into your bed, especially the gap between. I didn't and rusted out my tailgate and bumper on a perfectly good truck. It cost me $4000 in repairs to get all the saltwater rust out just from saltwater dripping down during my short transport 😢😢

I always assumed for such short commutes for me it wouldn’t play a role, thank you! I love my baby too much to let her rot :)
Yep, literally just that little bit of dripping into that seam between the tailgate and bed rusted out the bottom of my tailgate, bumper and rear cross member / tow package. Had to get it all cut out and replaced. I was able to do the tailgate myself for about $500, but the rest cost $3500 at a body shop
Most boat owners would love a kayak and most kayakers are not interested in boats .

Master of what? I don’t regularly see people carrying them, TRAILER CITY BABY, not a fan. Price alone is ridiculous, and I’m getting something out the door not in someone’s backyard swallowing the sun. They are nice and built well, just not for what it would cost to have a full set up.

Ya know , I like the price on this and i'm not sure I would use a 6hp , maybe a 4 or 3. However , instead of standing and having my center of gravity so high. I would probably sit on that cushion , and then add in stick steering to the right and a gear shift and throttle to the left of the seated position. The steering can be done with a few pulleys , pretty simple to set up but it does require mounting hardware firmly to the skiff. Anyhow , nice setup man , I dig it.
I have a 4hp mercury on the boat! I actually bought a 2.5 originally with just a a reverse and go type of motor, it was a 2005 merc I picked up at a garage sale. I took the skiff out 2 miles and got stranded, motor wouldn’t start, before hand I had been riding for about 30 minutes prior to, no problem. Slow as molasses. I converted the NEW 4hp to a 6hp with a bigger carb and different prop pitch. Both engines new have same casing, same weight, same internals, just bigger carb and prop. After install I did notice I got on plane at much lower speeds which for me is ideal. Reason I sit on the higher portion at times is because 1) ergonomically it just feels better than the cushion and usually do it with stain glass water or calm water. 2)The vision from up there vs down by the cushion is unmatched while scoping out spots especially when transitioning for tiller to fly rod in an instant with the kill cord. 3) What is glare? Being that high up when standing and even sitting you just see so much more. The purpose of this purchase was to be as high up as possible without compromising stability. I think I have achieved that. I like your idea on the pulley system, for my kind of fishing I don’t think adding anything else that could potentially compromise the fly line getting caught up would be good. I like the pulley idea, just don’t think it’s ideal for fly fishing. I could Jam Pack this thing with goodies but, I use all sides of my boat. A pulley system would compromise some portion of the boat, which I wouldn’t want. The extended tiller give me room to maneuver while riding, a pulley would have me fixed in one position. Thanks for the great review BaitLess. I’m considering getting one of these over the solo skiff because it’s 45 pounds lighter, 1.5 ft shorter, cheaper, and comes with tracks already installed. I’m just not sure if the solo skiff is better equipped to handle chop and rougher conditions. Do you have any ovptions on that? I’m looking to use the skiff in rivers and coastal waters in the Pacific Northwest. I plan on only going when the weather forecast is good, but choppier conditions are the norm up here.

All things considered the solo skiff probably isn’t worth the extra 50 lbs and scratch to notice a difference. Maybe build quality is what you’re paying for but the scarcity alone makes them unapproachable. I think it’ll be perfect for those waters but I guess the question is how often do you hit these waters with small vessels or kayaks?Is this an upgrade to a set up or a new hobby to take on? What kind of fishing? Stationary or anchor out? If you’re drifting look no further! I get and pass through chop chop I just don’t stay in it. As long as I have a fail safe I’m hitting all waters, I just need a way out if it gets hectic. I’ve been very uncomfortable in choppy waters after boats start coming in at sundown and it’s a shit show but if you can maneuver through waves well you’re golden. Flip the boat naked when you first get it to know what if feels like if you ever do flip out there and see how much it takes to reflip. I hope you get one! I appreciate the love 🤟🏼

I typically stay between Venice-Tampa Bay consistently, sometimes I venture out down south or up north. I’d say I’m most in Sarasota bay or up towards EG Simmons in Ruskin 😎🤙🏼

It’s phenomenal for fly fishing. Granted it is drift fly fishing if it’s windy or current but for the most part I can’t say I have very many cons about this boat. It’s light enough to not kill yourself during transport, light on the wallet compared to what others are selling these types of boats. I will say I do tend to leave my boat on my truck during the week to get out after work. You don’t even notice it’s there. I promise you won’t be disappointed but don’t get discouraged if you spend the first couple weeks figuring out how to properly operate it. Being around wake and other boats is scary but once you feel what it feels like to steer into waves and into wakes it makes it a lot more fun of a time. I would recommend this boat to anyone that doesn’t have the space or time to trailer an actual skiff or flats boat. It’s easy and practical with all the components to rig it to your specific liking. Good luck brother I think you’re making the right decision! It’s well worth it. Whereabouts do you live?
@@BaitLessCo. I am in charlotte NC. I like skinny lake water here where most boats cant go and I go to the coastal flats a few times a year as well. I found a new one for $1000 about 4 hours from me and I picked up a 6hp fourstroke tohatsu for $250 that had a few issues that I have fixed so I wont be too much into it. I have a pelican catch pwr right now with a 2hp yamaha 2 stroke and a hobie pro angler 14. I am about to sell both of those kayaks though to make room for this one. I just want to be able to go a bit further then I have with the kayaks. Do you think 10 miles or so one way is reasonable out of this with the external tank?
@@cantbuyrespect That’s a hell of a deal. Forget the Hobie and pelican, both those combined won’t match up to it. If you like staying low to the ground and see nothing but glare it’s a good pick for blind casting. In my case I don’t like blind casting as much so that platform I fixed gave me so much more visuals it’s insane compared to a sit in kayak. External tank depending how big you can easily get 25 miles +. Watch your weather that’s really all you have to worry about. External I’ve gone 105 miles. That’s all the waterways I have around me. Tampa-Sarasota area. Stay shallow and you’re golden. Get out early enough you beat the douche bags hitting full throttle in a foot of water. You’ll have so much more energy to fish and take your time as opposed to spending most of your resources getting to the “spot”.

I see you removed the stern grab bar. Mine is a little spongy and don't use it to lift, but use is to hold a wood brace to protect the plastic stern at the boat ramp. Why did you remove you?😂
The right side of the bar, the bolt housing apparently had a crack in it before going on the water so for about two hours I had water trickling in, about 5 gallons of water was inside the boat. Trash. So I just removed it completely and gator guard patched it. I was pissed at the quality in that area.
@BaitLessCo. wow!!! Yes, I've been trying to figure out how to improve the Stern grab rail, since telling people 'don't lift there ' seems crazy. Plus, with the plastic so thin there, boat launch ramps could easily eat through it.. I was shocked how damaging it can be even when babying it.
@@reel.time.fishing It’s close to impossible to reenforce, I guess I really haven’t put much thought into it since it pissed me off. I grab the sides for now. Thinking about it now, I could tie a rope in an infinity shape and fix a handle to the top, slip each stern piece in and use that as my hoist and leverage since grabbing the sides of the boat isn’t as pleasant. Could be possible to hang the boat in garage also with the cheapo method. I mean it looks sick as hell lol but unfortunately has no real function, which I can live with.

Not really to be honest. Unless you guys are looking for a core workout as opposed to fishing, sure! It’s just too narrow for two people to comfortably hang out, I did it once, never again. I have only enjoyed it with my petite girlfriend, but she also stayed as still as a rock being I’m sure she’s scared shitless.
But I hear ya on wanting to bring your dad. Nothing like it that’s for sure. If I would suggest anything it would be check marketplace on Facebook for a cheap kayak but stable, tie your dad onto the back of your rig, slowly get to your spots and be comfortable. Don’t push it, get home that day.
@@BaitLessCo. I’ll just stick with my current setup then. I stuck a trolling motor on my bote tandem kayak. Not a lot of space width wise, but we can stand still and it’s comfy enough I guess. It’s weird an inflatable can hold 600lbs though
@@ChowTY42 Good idea. Honestly just depends on the water you’re working with. I’m around a ton of oysters, only reason I didn’t get something BOTE related. Inflatables do not pair well with Florida lol. But I also didn’t plan on taking anyone since I’m regularly a lone wolf on the water. Something like a big pelican will probably do the trick. Butttt you can’t stand. Huge fishing point for me. Sitting isn’t what I was looking for. Hope it works out bro!
