I got one from Tracker Supply about a month ago. It came pre-wired from the back to the bow with 10 gauge wire for the front trolling motor. I bought a Pexmor 46lb trolling motor for the front and a Hangkai 6hp 2 stroke motor for the rear. Also bough two nice seats on Amazon. I got a 12' flatbed trailer from Tractor supply also. 😃👍
Awesome! How fast does the 6 push you? I want one
@@GreysonRoberts people say about 10mph. Im going to try and get a 9.9 and take the sticker off of it
I still haven't used it yet.still setting it up.@@GreysonRoberts
I don't know what you have in mind for adding a cleat, but if it was my boat, I'd just put a cleat along the length of a short section of broom handle and stick it down in one of the poorly designed rod holders. No holes needed for screws. (I hate the idea of putting holes in my boat hulls) Make a couple and you can move your anchor points around as needed.
Added 40 Min Kota to the front a Bimini top sand tan two clamp swivel boat seats tan and a 1996 Mercury 2 stoke looks has good as it sounds is written.I Love it ,fits in the back of my pick up.kool for the money.
Don’t add any un needed weight keep it simple
I know these are inexpensive boats, but my problem with them is the thermal formed polypropylene. they’re just disposable if you put a hole-in-one. I know they make gator batch to fix holes for boats like this, but hear me out.
Few years ago had an accident my kayak where the strap came off, got caught in the wheel of the trailer and whipped around it just ripped up in my kayak. A friends’s father taught me about plastic welding. Since my kayak was made of polyethylene, I was able to repair that kayak with almost no visible side of damage. That’s when I learned the difference. I would personally stay away from these, but I also have the option to buy something a little bit more expensive out of a material.
I’ve had to try to repair six polypropylene boats. Two we were able to fix them with gator patch, the third just had to be trashed and the rest was not worth trying. I repaired close to 100 polyethylene boats and all repaired with scrap recycle #2 plastic and a heat gun. One boat we pulled out of the woods, sanded it down with some 600 grit sandpaper then I hit the whole boat with propane torch and it looks like new.
Also, here’s a tip. If you have a vehicle with black plastic bumpers on your vehicle, when you go to sell it wash off those black plastic parts and hit it with a propane torch and you see that oxidation go away. I learned that from a friend who owns a used car dealership. That is how they’re able to make those cars look better. Doesn’t take much heat.
I enjoyed the video and can’t wait to see you pimp it out. 😉
Awesome advice! I want a legit RamX boat. Like a nice 14 deep V to compete with the aluminum Lunds that can take a legit outboard like a 25ho
That’s cool. Good little side hustle!
Not sure if you mentioned if it would be suitable for saltwater??? Very appreciative of your response. Thank you!!!
Yes, I’m literally never in freshwater. I only saltwater fish
I just wish boats like this were rated for a little more weight. Similar sized inflatables can hold like 5 people, a thousand pounds or more.
I agree. Inflatable boats have a super high capacity. I found a cool 10’ at West Marine but it was $2,300! Couldn’t believe it.
Totally agree with this
It’s hard to compare those two. I mean one is filled with air. You will never be able to match that pound for pound.
@@mikepalmer2219 you're right. I would rather have a hard shell boat, but I can't deny the awesome capacity of an inflatable. I just finished making a plywood floor for my Intex Excursion, which is cool I guess, but just the fact that I can take the wife and two kids with me is the limiting factor that keeps me in an inflatable.
I'm glad we all agree 7hp means 9.9 and 15hp means 25😂😂
I think it’s really cool. I love the little spot in the front for a trolling motor. In Maine we use a skiff to get out from the warf to the lobster boat that is moored. One of these would make a good skiff especially since they sink all the time if people don’t pull them out during a storm.
I got a thick rubber door matt from Home Depot for the floor. It fits perfectly and is easy to stand on now. 👍
🌴 So is this boat a good deal 🤔 I’m going to say maybe ? Your going to say why maybe, 1- it’s lite weight 2- I usually fish alone , but two people could fish it . 3- flotation it’s probably? Filled with foam - unsinkable,4- it’s affordable $, 5- it would be kinda 👈🏻 durable, and this is where the maybe jumps in , if you bump a dock or hit a rock at slow speed it should be fine , remember now it’s plastic ! One of the worst things you can do is leave it exposed out in the sun , ya ya I know it’s got to be out there fishing , but when not in use cover it up UV rays degrade plastic over a long period of time , even fiberglass and gelcoat , the problem is trying to fix it 👈🏻a repair on that boat isn’t easy and usually looks like crap, the nose keel will usually get wore thru put a keel guard so if you beach it or drag it it doesn’t wear thru , I was going to buy one for around $700 but it really wasn’t what I wanted , I wanted a nano flats skiff so I’m doing a make over boat , I found a 11’ ft 1965 Cacci craft three seat fiberglass fishing boat and a trailer $ 250 bucks ! - catch is it didn’t have a title or registration, I did get a bill of sale with the last owners name address ,ph#, and boat s prior use on a lake home. I got the title and reg’s done at the DMV , I’m still working on it getting all the stuff I want on it half way there, I also found a 1989, Johnson 15 hp that needed work for $250 bucks it’s done and is getting ready for paint , by the time I’m done I’ll est. around $1200 bucks in it I chose fiberglass over the plastic just so I could customize it or repair it , and get the look I wanted , but you got a great deal on your boat , you can put a removable floor and a forward casting deck on it which is great , as they get sand and stuff on them so they can be washed off , hope to see a vid on when you get your motor on and it’s handling, and what you think after you fish it for awhile, keep the vids coming 👍🏼 tight lines.
I have one of those with a 25 hp yamaha short shaft on it, HOLY COW, its off the chart ridicules. I have it going 35 and had to back off because I just got scared.
Holy crap!!🤣🤣
@@GreysonRoberts Thats what I was saying
I bought a 16" lowes jon worked great for river and lake but I fish several local ponds and you have to have a boat because of vegetation and after several video you sold me on this one and i can pull it with sxs to get it Into these ponds I tries a kayak and it works but kids stole it pretty fast and u don't like paddling that much anyways 😅
you could drill a hole through one of the rod holders and put rope through it for an anchor. id to the top part and go through both of the arched parts
I saw one the other day at Tractor Supply. Sumbitch looked heavy......I know most people would want aluminum but I'd rather flip over in a plastic one than an aluminum one....
Absolutely. These things are stuffed with foam. They weigh 110lbs which is more or less the same as aluminum
is it tippy when 2 guys standing? Will it fir between wheel wells in full size truck bed?
Looking forward to watching this build! I just bought one myself
Lots of 12 ft used aluminum boats with a trailer for the same price or less . Seen 14 ft v hull with a trailer for 400$ . Bought it a few years back and there still out there . Put a 10 hp you have twice the boat.
People charge $2k for that around here. It's nuts. I've looked for over a year solid
@@GreysonRobertsI what state you from ? I live in Wisconsin and just looked up 14 ft boats on market place 300 to 1000 with trailers. Then I switched to Anaheim ca seen 300 $ 14 ft on there too.
@@GreysonRobertsjust looked up California resources I live in Wisconsin tons of deals out there. I can't say the resources because TH-cam snobs remove my comment. Where you from ?
Panama City Beach Florida
@@GreysonRoberts lol I just looked up daytona beach same prices . Fb market
The only thing I’ll say about the Prowler is it handles choppy water pretty well. I had a Bass Hunter before that, and that wasn’t good at all in choppy water. I would really like to get something that handles a larger motor. Looking forward to the custom touches. It would be great if you could find a 250 pound 70 year old to put in it.
I could probably round one up from my local fishing circle 🤣👍
@@GreysonRoberts Get him in that thing! You could always place a wanted ad. 😁
$1,099.99 at Canadiantire
12' john boats in the ocean is a foolish endeavor asking for trouble.😮
You should have seen what I’ve been through in my 10’🤣🤣🤣
Plus actually super common around here. Don’t go out on nasty days and people fish off anything. Pretty awesome tiny boat setups around here in FL!
@@GreysonRoberts ive seen 8 foot kayaks out all the time. The American 12 is almost unsinkable... Even if you flip
I was considering rhis, then i bought a sunfish sailboat for 100 bucks and threw on a 7.5hp gamefisher, 600 is very hard to beat
A Lowe 10ft Jon is dirt cheap
Looks like fun I get one, but I don’t have a place to keep it.
I had to get a cheap storage unit for mine. It’s $44/mo
Should have got a bass tender 11.3,I just picked one up and it's got a casting deck, live well, bilge pump and some other perks.
I almost bought one! But since they’re out of production, I wanted a boat anybody can pick up after watching my videos.
@@GreysonRoberts I just got started on boats, and watch your vids. I'm local, maybe I'll see you on the water someday.
No way! That’s awesome. I would love to try your boat out one of these days. Are you in Panama City?
@@GreysonRoberts yea,I live in Panama.I just got it,but will be getting it sea worthy soon.Ill let you know. It's got a 1968 2 stroke Johnson XD
Awesome!
Is that a cleat up front on the left?
mount a pontoon on one side and mount a platform on it to fish from
Mine is modded with 2 motors,2 batteries, swivel seats, scotty anchor/rod holder systems and lots of lights. Sets on about 3 inches of water.
Is this a one person boat? I need a cheap option for a two person boat
"I wanna deck this boat" 😅😂
In salt water......with that trolling motor?
Does great. I’ve had 2. They’re made for salt👍
@@GreysonRoberts oh well if they made for salt the it's all good. All the motors I ever seen for salt water is white
@@keithdavis3590 those are the more expensive, higher thrust versions with longer shafts. Would be a nice upgrade eventually
I have very similar boat mines called the coleman crawdad, its from the 80's . I love it, I dont dare to take mine on the ocean, maybe a bay on a very calm day sure since mine has a salt water trolling newport motor. Mines fully rigged up to the T. Check out my videos on it i got a couple from like a year ago.
Do they not make a trailer for any of these plastic boats?
I don't think so I could be wrong. Most make their own trailers for these.
@@RDM-346 or if you got a pick up truck they also put in the back and strap it down.
It use to be inexpensive to build a trailer for these boats but not so much now.
How is drainage?
Terrible. Pain to clean
thats so fucking dope no lie
Can't wait
Love mine.
Not a good idea for a dinghy. Water gets between the inner and outer hulls and weighs it down. If your using it for a couple hours at a time and pulling it out of the water when your not using it should be fine. If you add accessories or work on it be careful not to make a way for water to gain access between the hulls.
Luckily after a year of owning 3 of these types of boats that's never been an issue for me. I'll pull the plug every few trips but always dry on all the boats. Which is surprising for the rough bay saltwater conditions I put mine through almost daily.
The weight rating applies to when the boat is full of water.
Got mine at TS for 509 w/ tax 545 last one who knew
That’s a steal! Especially brand new
Cheap boats are always more fun.
Absolutely! No stress
Try 55yo 6,5 295 lol.
They pretty much stopped making little aluminum boats. I'd like to see a legit Ram-X deep V or flat bottom Jon get made.
You think 3 people could fish comfortably with this? And 3 people I mean adult, teenager and 2nd grader?
Yes! That’s about as far as I’d push it for 3 people fishing but I did put my full weight on the very front shelf on the bow and it help up fine
Are you in 757?
no seat mounts huh? that’s my deal breaker
Ouch Bummer of a bruise.....Paleeze don't do that speedy video thing, it's making me seasick just watching
Get a real jon boat or 12ft. V hull. No plastic cracking...
FL ! You are gator bait . 😅
Gators? Lol bull sharks more like it
