@@MrAlexTech Hey bud. How do you change the fast noise appearance on the fusion page? U can change it to mist, heat haze, river etc if you make it in the edit page, but not on fusion (or from what I can see lol). Would love ur help pal.
I noticed this effect immediately and was surprised that no one mentioned it in detail. Thanks, Alex, for taking this task and for showing creative ideas with Fast Noise 👍
Okay so maybe it's not quite a secret... buuuut it's slipped under the radar as nobody seems to be talking about it and it's actually kinda cool! Let me know what you think :)
wow, did not know fast noise had so many application. the last example with depth map combination shows the true power of resolve in terms of how easy it is to create special effects...thanks...
I have been using Resolve for about six weeks but have managed with your videos to do some really cool things. I am addicted to the channel and can't wait for my next fix 🙂
The documentation for Resolve is awesome. Anyone put-off by the number of pages in the manual should just check the contents section(s). This is not a book to read, it's a very, very, detailed reference book. There are quite a few other official books as well, such as the fusion reference.
Just noticed that your tutorials are by far the most fun to watch and best produced tutorials on TH-cam!

Wow, this is just like a classic Andrew Kramer tutorial, where you take seemingly ultra-basic and boring effects and make them do extremely fun stuff! That's awesome, thanks man!
Man, you are hands down the best Davinci Resolve teacher we've got on this TH-cam. Keep doing these tutorials bro, you're absolutely the best!!! What a great tutor!!!
The coolness of this effect and this video has me wearing a winter coat in spring time!! Thanks so much, once again you've scored 10 goals!! Thank you!!
man i got to say i love all your videos. no idea what im doing but we are getting there :) thanks to your videos my edits are going to be so good now ! now all i need to do is learn how to talk non stop while we record lol
Another awesome video, love these effects, how the hell am I going to remember all these amazing things you are teaching us. I just need to find some footage I want to use these effects on now. Keep up the great work, Alex.
I watched the DR tutorial from Blackmagic on how to use fast noise in fusion... but it was used as a minor final touch to the image in a larger tutorial on 3D compositioning. This effect here is more applicable on a regular basis and also way faster and easier to apply. thank you so much!
I love this. I would definitely love to see what other techniques you come with for this tool. The Depth Map is a great tool as well. The new features of v18 are perfect for a new film I’m working on. Thanks a zillion.
I just love your videos man - thanks so much Alex. Like, honestly? I would NOT have known about this without your help 🙄🤦♂️🤣. Brilliant as always sir 👊✌️
I had no idea about this. Thank you so much love your videos, am already adding fast noise to add effects to my AMV's. Thank you for making these videos loads of help.
You rock dude! You had me at the "NFT anyone?" hahaha because I literally thought of it as soon as you showed the effect. I've been making and selling NFTs for a year and a half now and that's gonna help! I just wish Resolve would put the appropriate things in the Edit window. I want to be able to mask in the edit Window. You can make masks in both Fusion and the COlor window - it's confusing
just taking time to say thank you Alex. You & Casey convinced me a while back to move on from Magix Movie Maker. At first I was seriously intimidated by DR. It was to me like going from a Cesna Cockpit to a 747 Cockpit. BUT: I tried the free version of Davinci Resolve 17 & with your tutorials I became convinced to shift to DR. I have now purchased DR 17 Studio & eagerly await the full version of Studio 18 when available. I will be back for more of your amazing tutorials. Big thank you. 📹😎
So much I would have never learned without your tutorials. Another great one. Thanks a zillion😊 👍 and yes a dedicated tutorial would be much appreciated 👌
how do you the curved (ease in /ease out) zoom that is not directly to the center of the screen? (you did it at 2:09) When I do try to ease the curve (zoom x/y) and then do the x/y it looks really weird and its really hard to give it all the same values. Eased zoom in look great, but as soon as I need to go up,down, left, right it looks wonky. Maybe do a video about it? Or can you point me to the video where you explained this? thanks
Simples! With my free tool :) You can see it here (link in description, from my Ko-Fi store): th-cam.com/video/av7abWb707k/w-d-xo.html All the zoomes are done with this one.
I literally just downloaded the Nvidia studio version drivers on my ROG laptop. And it made such a huge difference within resolve. Let me tell you, the battery even last longer
I actually would love to see a full tutorial on this. I would say I’m kind of just at the end of the beginner Phase of learning da Vinci resolve, and I love these new effects. I also know that you put a lot of work into these videos even though you make them look very simple, so I do appreciate that.
Have you memorised the page numbers in the manual for all of the things you show us? That's impressive! :D A friend asked me if there was a manual for Resolve and I think he was a bit put off by the number of pages. That's why we need people like you to show us the cool stuff.
@@MrAlexTech I am afraid the page number referencing has a short life in case of Davinci Resolve. I have seen references in their Forum threads that are currently even hundreds of pages off and thus useless for any current readers. We need some time-proof solution, probably: main chapter-heading-subheading, etc. This can, of course, be combined with current page number.
i'm going to try the rippling/warping effects with mask in color page to turn stills of people into ones that seem like they move a little bit I've had a few people ask me if I knew how, and I do but told them it's complicated and time consumer. NOW I can bring them an adhoc example and a price point for less than expected!
Absolutely Brilliant Alex, THANK YOU. You have now made my Workflow much longer with my Photo Slideshow Movies, The FX you outline, are very similar to CinemaGraph / 2D FX, especially using Power Windows in the Colour Tab to select specific areas of the image. Now I have ideas to add FastNoise to Photos of views with Skies, Rivers, Seas, Chimney smoke, etc. How does Fast Noise integrate with Magic Person/Object Mask Tracking ? It would be great if you could expand on this Tutorial, with more similar Tutorials, Maybe dedicated Tutorials for each section of Fast Noise. THANKS AGAIN
Thanks so much for another excellent tutorial! Amazing. I hadn't time yet but I am curious what's now possible with Fast Noise in the Fusion page. Loved always to use it in a 3D comp. Perhaps can now recreate that rainbow liquid wall from the movie Annihilation in DaVinci
First example with the water: What if i want the water to stay still and only apply the fast noise to the Text ? Just make it a compound clip and drop it on there?
Put the ember video file on top on the timeline, then click the ember file on timeline, open the Inspector (top right hand corner) and from there change the Composite Mode from Normal to Add! That should do it :)
Absolutely! That was actually my original plan but then figured the adjustment clip was a slightly simpler solution (and they can be stored in power bins, where compounds cannot). But yes, compound away! :)
Great episode. Just one suggestion, maybe have the effect named in the title? When I forget stuff, your site is the first Port Of Call to remind me how to do stuff so that I can get back on track in as little time as possible with my masterpiece edits. I'd normally try to remember what the titles were of the effects I want and search from there.
Hey Frank! I certainly will do don't worry. I've been going super clicky initially (helps get the video traction and into the suggested, search etc) but then I'll change it (changed my Depth Map to include the name too!).
Many thanks for this! How would you go about adding water effect, for example, to a title only, and not background. An adjustment layer would just affect everything underneath it...
Yes pls. Could u make a whole dedicated tutorial on creating ethereal fantasy world with these effects?
I love how fun you make these tutorials, and especially how you run through different scenarios using other tools in practical examples.
Heyy!! Thank you. That's the goal! 🙂
