As far as I know you're the first and only person to do this plotagraph type of animation in Resolve. I'm going to be using this technique on most of my concepts.
Hey. I'm having trouble as soon as you got to 6:00. There's only one frame of the image that I edited, and I cannot seem to find a way to have the edited photo last for more than one second / frame. Can you please assist? What did I do wrong??
thank you for making this video, looking at it it seems you use resolve as a layered based program, however for mist you could very well use the fastnoise-node in fusion to get you where you want to go very quickly. it is however interesting to see there are many ways to achieve a result.
@@DigitalVectorStudios Hey I donno if you already have, but put on tags like after effects, puppet tool, cinemagraph, grid tool. I say this because of the rabbit hole i went through to find this. Those tags will help expose this video i think
It’s powerful and includes the best compositing and color editing for video. There is a learning curve because there’s so much in the program. Basically Premiere and After Effects in one.
you are the one !! just found your channel yesterday it's a hidden gem, i watched almost all your videos , can you do more tuto on 2d animation in DR to master like maps or like in this video to get the idea i meant . thanks
Good thought. The grid warp can be used to make things move by manipulating the on-screen grid controls. All of the steps I had to isolate the items in the video would still be needed, although you could tie the masking directly into the grid. Basically, the grid movement would replace the stretching animation I do in the Edit page, but in my opinion the same number of steps would be needed. Where the grid warp would work really well is if you are trying to animate a face or say, a bouncing ball, car crash or something like that, where you need deformation.
@@DigitalVectorStudios if you use time delay on your nodes (in Fusion) it will mimic your layering on the edit page but also will give you the capability to change the input media and effect mask quickly. (Without relayering in the edit page) I don't know if that makes sense, it's hard to explain. 😬
Hey is this method still the same or has anything change with the new version? I recently bought studio and have been looking for something like this . Thank you
Paid products are more of a cookie-cutter approach with pre-made presets to save time. If you use the method included with this video you can get great results without buying anything. It does take some effort though. With anything, the more effort that is spent, the better the results.

Interesting way to make a Plotagraph but you can still use Plotagraph App to save time :)
Came to learn a new skill. Left knowing it's not worth learning in my particular situation but this guy has mad skills!
Thanks!
What an awesome tutorial!
Thanks my man.
Amazing. Been wanting to do this in DR for a while. Now you've shown us. Thank You very much.
You’re welcome. It was fun figuring out how to make it work in Resolve. Thanks for suggesting this topic!

Great! Live to see some of your results.
@@DigitalVectorStudios definitely. I need to learn Fusion a bit more to realize my vision
Youre a genius! I love and need this tutorial!
Thanks!

Exactly what I was looking for thanks!
Absolutely

I appreciate that Sloth. It’s one thing I’ll admit I’m naïve about.
very nice effect
DaVinci seems to offer some interesting capabilities. That said, it also seems to not be intuitive and thus have a steep learning curve.

Remember that Def Leppard song “Plotograph”? That was a great song.
Saw them in concert, Tesla opened. I remember-well that’s up to interpretation I guess.
😂 😆 Yeah, great song from sweet ol' times.
Don they have water ripples or waves too in the free version?
Not sure if I'll ever use this, but I've wondered how it's done.
Thanks for checking it out. It’s there if you need it.
can you do more videos ? this is incredible
Thanks! Yeah I probably do some more. If you have an idea let me know.

Thanks! Yeah, I’ll put together some more videos to share some techniques on 2D animation.
@@DigitalVectorStudios good to hear that !! I'm following .
Thank you for saving the day! - could i use the same process for animating a path or road?
It should work. May need a clean shot of the area around the path or road in a separate layer so they don’t blur.
@@DigitalVectorStudios - thank you, much appreciated 🙏 I’ve downloaded the two images and hope to get started in the next couple of days.
Thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
Great video, what app do you use to record the screen and highlight the keys that you press?
Hey thanks. I’m using MultiCam Capture-the Lite version. It works pretty well, you can record multiple screens/sources at the same time.
@@DigitalVectorStudios Thanks!
Just a thought. Can all this be done 100% in Fusion using the Grid Warp tool?

Yes it will still work the same
Hello, will using this Resolve look better than Plotagraph or Cinemagraph? I just found out Cinemagraph is only for Mac users.

Yes you may if you want canned results.
What are other examples for plotagraphs on a scene that does not involve water and mist/smoke?
I’ve seen this effect used for a cool blurred background. Otherwise, leaves and plants work well along with clouds of course
@@DigitalVectorStudios cool need to try out with leaves. 👌🏻I'm a wildlife Photographer. Need to try out with leaves atleast. 😁
When i try to do it like this the image just disappears after a couple seconds. Go's black
how come my cropped clip only lasts less than 1 second?
Im so frustrated. WHy doesn't my cropped image last more than 1 second...
Juicy, cooked al dente with the right amount of olive oil. Just add your fav sauce
