      LMAO I know, and I really really scrubbed away at the paint to get as much color as possible. Just sad.

      What if you soaked the color in order to run off the binder and get more actual tint.

    I love how when you did the close-up pan-over with your camera how it often appeared as though you were looking straight down through ocean water into the rock/coral below. Anyone who wants to paint such types of scenes could almost have these paints do all the previously hard work, for them! This chart took a lot of time to prepare, so I thank you for your efforts! Also, on a side note, two thumbs-up for the cool, retro, digital Casio watch, love it! :)

    Wow! Somebody has been very busy. Love some of the primatek colors. My favorite semi precious stone one is bloodstone genuine, the green perylene and the Minnesota pipestone. I can't suppose I could keep getting more but I'd better make use out of these. The granulation makes for a great leather look without having to work at it. Thank you for swatching out those wc.

    I want this or a poster of this in my room to stare at the beautiful granulation all day! Maybe I’ll try this with the few primatek colours that I have from the 6 set that DS sell. It won’t be as beautiful at this but I’ll be able to whiteness at least some of awesomeness that is primatek mixes!

    • @OtoKano

    I missed this video when I came out. That is one STUNNING chart. The biggest surprise for me is definitely the amazonite mixed with amethyst. I never would have thought to mix those two together even though I own them both (and mix greens with purples all the time) but it might be my new favourite colour.

    Esoterically awesome video! And thanks for taking your time moving over the mixes, instead of making us stop the video constantly to view the results :) I'm so excited to try new mixes with my colors now, especially Diopside. I already know that Piemontite mixes beautifully, so I do wish you had added a reddish Primatek like Piemontite or Red Garnet to see those mixes--on the other hand, it wouldn't have been as dreamy as it is with just the purples, blues and greens! :) This makes me more apt to buy the colors on my wish list very soon--Sodalite and Serpentine looked particularly useful. I'd like to hear other viewers experience with Lapis Lazuli--I just don't have the same issue as you do (at least when I pour off the excess gum arabic) and I think it's a decent mixing color.

    • @OtoKano
      @OtoKano  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason why the red Primateks aren't in this mixing chart is because this is a mixing chart of colors I covered in my Primatek series already. The series covered the first 18 colors in the DS color chart. I did cover Lapis Lazuli in the series so check out that episode to see what experience others had with it.

  • @valasafantastic1055

    I think they often require high quality paper and careful mixing. Also just use fresh from the tube don't pallet them. I've got the Mummy Bauxite and it works more like a regular colour mixing normally and rewetting easily so I can say that one (sometimes listed as primatek sometimes not) is fine to put in a pan and also feels more 'regular'. I've seen other reviews and swatches/mixes and they really show up much worse in every way on cheap paper. I'm considering for the future. Fun and informative video, thanks!

    Wow...I have never seen texture like this with watercolors before; at least, not without outside help like from saran wrap. This is cool! I am slowly building my stash between the tubes and the color sticks....i am loving the more earthy, natural tones of the primateks, and many of them are high on my wish list (except the lapis lazuli, haha.)

    Thank so so much for doing this chart. As you noted, no yellow or oranges. I'm planning a series of paintings of historical site where I live using all prima tek. Trying out mixing other Daniel Smith with Prima Tek to give me to two missing colors. Have you done any experimenting to fill out the pallet?

    I've discovered that I love playing around with granulation and other "odd" textures when doing abstract painting. Things that would drive me mad if I was trying to paint an animal create the most beautiful abstract "landscapes". Some of these mixes would be some beautiful to use.
