How does the Float X feel compared to the Super Deluxe Ultimate? It seems like it's meant to be a competitor at least in the aspect of a bigger negative air chamber and only 2 dials for low speed rebound/compression.
That is really great to hear. We know not everyone knows every little thing there is to know about technical details of bikes, so we try to make it makes sense to everyone.
After living in the PNW of 11 years and now in SoCal I really miss the riding.. Nothing compares to riding in the woods on near perfect soil.. Perfect place to test suspension.
Great comparison! I've really been thinking about just buying a frame (Canyon Spectral 29) and building my own bike from the ground up. You really showed me, in a practical way, the difference between these 3 shocks and, for me, I think the Float X is the best choice. Cheers and keep it up! P.S. You earned a sub with this vid!
You mentioned the rebound and compression are on separate circuits. Is there any video or info on how the dampers work in popular forks and shocks? I have seen the skills with phil one but want info on how specific models work.
I’d recommend getting something to make the trail video much smoother. Chest mount? Camera with smoothing? Gimbal? The shock seems good but thing there is not much difference and price and some overlap.
Just bought this shock for a Santa Cruz Blur. The SidLuxe in 100mm travel wasn’t cutting it. The 190x45 DPS (bumping the bike to 115mm travel) was ok. Not having compression dampening was the main motivation for the switch. I’m hoping to eliminate or limit the shock blowing through the stroke on small chop and eliminate the pogo stick feel of the rebound while running higher air pressure.
@@trevorloney652 yikes not what I wanted to hear 😂 I asked the bike shop if they could get an update on time and they said if they call Fox there’s a chance they put my shock at the back of the line for asking 🧐
I just ordered this by suggestion of your guy AdamC. I'm 270lbs kitted and the stock X2 just wont cut it... I'll keep my stock X2 til I get my weight sorted :) Great help from your customer service!
I put a 2018 DPX2 on a Process 153 and it was so perfect that Shockwiz gave it all greens just from my initial setup. Didn't have to change a thing. Great shock.
Rear suspension on the sentinel isn't the best. I'm running a dpx2 on a smuggler and finally realized it takes much more psi to find the sweet spot. Running 200psi and I weigh 175.
Thanks! The "talking" sections are filmed primarily on a GH5 with a 12-35 f/2.8, though occasionally we use EF lenses. The chest cam is of course a GoPro.
I have a 2019 Stumpjumper Comp Carbon 29" in XL and I'm looking at upgrading my rear shock. It has the DPS Performance on it which is one of the last original parts on the bike haha. I've been eyeing up the Float X recently. I'm not sure if the X2 would fit on my frame because of the side arm design and it might be a bit overkill for a 140mm trail bike. I also considered the DHX because I have a coil on my Commencal Meta Power SX Race and it feels so nice and plush but I'm also aware that they are expensive, you have to get the right coil for your weight and leverage ratio so potential for extra money spent if I don't get the right spring and also it wont have the progression of an air shock and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the Stumpy doesn't have a lot of progression in it's leverage ratio. That being said, I remember back in the day when Specialized were using the 2019 Stumpjumper for their EWS athletes, they were running an Ohlins coil shock so maybe it'll be ok. Anyway, long story short, would you recommend the Float X or a different shock for my bike? I'm 194cm tall, around 105kg in riding gear and 2020 Fox Factory 36 Grip2 up front. I ride mostly trail/flow with some harder enduro black trails and I'm a very competent rider. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Looking at this review, it sounds like the Float X offers the same performance as the Rockshox. Would that be accurate?
If you think about it the float x is exactly like the super deluxe ultimate. Both have low speed compression and rebound and climbing switch. I am a fan of fox shocks and rockshox forks as a combo. IMHO
I bought this shock for my FUEL EX which is an all rounder trail bike. It has a 140mm Fox 36 GRIP 2 factory, and I am replacing the Reactiv Thru Shaft shock with this. I know it offers plushness, but how is the climbing performance? The Reactiv is pretty good for going up stuff but really falls apart going down, and I know this will help the going down part but not be a snooze at climbing. I had considered a DPX2 but went with the Float X as it seemed to offer a lot of improvement overall. Any feedback on the climbing with this shock in open mode?
