If Halo Infinite does that, competitive matchmaking would be fun af.
as long as the big corpos are getting their mone, the wont be bothered caring about these things. as soon as their share dips, they will suddenly turn into the most player friendly feedback centered companies there can be
Given what's been shown, can you do a video on how everything we've seen may effect forge? - Is it free with the multiplayer or attached to the campaign? - Will future expansions/seasons add to the forge sandbox? - Will it release separately to the Campaign/Multiplayer? - Will we be able to dictate the theme, faction, or skin for a vehicle, weapon, or other asset in a custom map? (Covenant, Banished, Swords of Sanghelios, UNSC, or Insurrectionist) - Does the new Hardware/Software allow for larger and more complex builds? - Speculative Forge features.
Campaign and multiplayer will release at the same time, multiplayer is free and will act almost as a separate game from the campaign, forge and all other typical halo features will be included with the multiplayer f2p
My favorite part is that it simply looks... FUN... Old halo, new halo, doesn't matter, it looks like you can jump on with a bunch of friends and just have FUN! 👌👌
even if there's no other games like halo, infinite will still have to compete for peoples time... but i think with the fact it's free to play, and has a training/ academy mode new players will try it out and become new halo fans...in the past, games had to compete for your time and money, and most cod fanboys would never buy a halo, and vice versa... now there's no reason not to try out almost every game out there
If it brings back the classic Halo feel that made it great in the first place it's not going to have any issues. Plenty of fanboys are going to be all over it. Nothing has ever been the same as the first 3 (or 4) main series games
Also the customization and the focus of "Your spartan isn't "your spartan".. It's YOU as a Spartan." is what sold me, it looks like Reach customization 2.0, without the wack 343 Halo 5 designs.
It would make sense lore wise. The slim design was exclusive mainly to the moons and what not of the elite home world that Jul conscripted. Banished should have the original since he stole so many from the covenant

Doom is 100% the only shooter than can be compared with Halo now. Eternal's single player campaign has revolutionized FPS. The one thing that has always set Halo apart is the shield. It changes the way you enter each situation. You know the enemy has a shield and its all about melting theirs more efficiently than they melt yours and capitalizing that situation. When you see the shield break you know its crit time. Or using items around the map to your advantage.
I'm just glad that this year many franchises are making a comeback, that is the best possible outcome for us the consumers. I bought Modern Warfare last year and loved it because the multiplayer felt like the old days for a while, but overtime it started to feel like the same old Call of Duty that gets released every single year, and Cold War only reinforced that feeling; it was really sad cause there wasn't really anything else that felt like the older franchises I used to play. After that I moved to valorant, it was new and refreshing and I haven't played anything else since. Now we're getting a Battlefield and a Halo that will probably be as good as they were in their prime, and I for the first time in many years, am really hyped up and excited for an FPS release, I REALLY hope these games do great and get played by more people than just the hardcore fanbase.
I personally don't believe it has too much to worry about. Nothing else is like Halo. Halo is one of a kind, I'm sure, no nearly positive that when this game releases it will blow up! Not everyone will get in on it, but a very large margin!
Yes Destiny is... I played 3 years of Destiny 2 competitive after playing Halo 5 competitive. There are many more loadout options to bring into the arena and Halo is more balanced, but it's basically the same. Problem with destiny is half of the population there are PvE noobs and there is constant crying from these about the PvP
Halo 5 is the least “halo” game of them all. Comparing that to other games isn’t even fair when you consider how different the original trilogy is. Infinite is a seemingly perfect mix of both styles and will allow for a truly unique experience imo
Halo 5 is the only Halo that plays similarly to Destiny. The rest of the franchise though, they’re nothing alike aside from having a higher than average time to kill. Destiny PvP has no equal starts, is incredibly aggressive and focuses on your own loadouts and abilities, there is no sandbox interaction in Destiny PvP. Whereas Halo, aside from 5, is less aggressive in comparison and focuses on map control and utilizing the sandbox.
I find COD to be so damn boring. The main difference between Halo and most other shooters is that, like Fortnite; COD is built and designed to be an absolute casuals dream come true. Streamers jump on it for the easy content. All the fake hype and self perpetuating self interest is a stark difference from what Infinite potentially can deliver. A true organic healthy population. True interest. And IF AND ITS A BIG IF 343 can do this right they can fill the void the right way. Replicating what Bungie did with H1-3.

One thing I keep seeing in halo infinite videos is the seasons that don't expire being labeled as a new thing. Although other game franchises that I've seen haven't done this, the MCC has had it built in this whole time. I feel like even though this isn't new info it's important to know because permanent seasons isn't technically a new thing when it comes to halo. Infinite will be the first standalone halo game to feature this since the MCC is a mash up of the previous fps halo games in the series.

I think an important point you missed, is that in that list you have military sims, Hero shooters, a SciFi space fantasy shooter, tactical 1 life shooters, battle royals, and including Fortnite, a battle royal with a heavy emphasis on building. Even within the battle royal "genre" the games play very different moment to moment. This shows that games can be huge and successful while doing their own unique thing. Halo has a place to be Halo, it isn't the end of the 360 generation where you HAD to be like Call of Duty to get the eyes. Another important distinction is the sheer variety Halo contains within itself. Halo has sweat mode 4v4, casual 4v4, Big team battle, a large variety of objective game modes, and Forge + Custom Games. It offers so much more to experience within itself than any of its current contemporaries I can think of. Forge + Custom Games alone make it more like Roblox than like Call of Duty.
I think battlefield is the closest competitor because of the whole sandbox and the way vehicles work. But it's still completely different and focuses more on large scale war and specific classes
I love how Halo is pretty much going to have no competition when it releases and no one wants beef between Battlefield 2042 and Infinite so if both are good both will have healthy playerbases
I'm hoping they're just holding out but I was really expecting a much bigger btb then just 12v12, I kind of wanted like Battlefield size btb, but I'm still happy with the 12v12
Battlefield 2042 will not have a campaign and will cost 70$ on PS 5 and Xbox Series X, while PS4, Xbox One, and PC users can get the game for $10 less. And it will have a season pass. A full game price tag but you only get multiplayer out of it
Battlefield 2042 will be the reckoning of Halo Infinite, unfortunately. 343i still refuses to give us our own server browsers with progression and has destroyed Halo with Skill Based Matchmaking, whereas Battlefield 2042 has it's roots deep within the fact Players Rent/Host their own Servers with Progression, completely voiding any possibility for Skill Based Matchmaking. I want Infinite to be the best Halo ever made, but the fact 343i has confirmed SBMM is....well obvious. SBMM dictates your entire multiplayer experience, that's bottom line. All the points you brought up are correct and great, but things have changed for the worse when it comes to Player Matching.
I don't see why anyone that wants a skill based FPS would to BF. And I don't see how anyone that wants a casual FPS would go to halo. These games are for very different audiences. The BF crowd want free frags. If they can't get a frag just because they saw someone first. They bitch and moan. They want to get on the scoreboard regardless of skill gap. Halo just isn't compatible with them. And most Halo players expect to earn their frags. So when they get a frag because the other person didn't even have time to react they get equally annoyed because it felt unearned. The only playerbase in Halo that would ever touch BF with a 10 ft pole are the swat people
I think right now is the best time to have a Halo game. The last few years was a bad time because the market demand was realistic modern shooters like CoD, Battlefield and other CoD clones. Now that the market is a little bit more open minded because of games like Overwatch, Valorant, there’s room for Halo to return now that people have gotten sick of Call of Duty esque games. Another factor why it’s a good time to come back is because nostalgia is so big right now, which may bring a lot of people back. Halo was just a victim of bad timing and a change in the demand of the market.
Even though halo is sci fi I’d say the games are more in vein with call of duty and battlefield. I always got a more grounded military vibe than Star Wars when playing halo as a kid
@@ganggang2537 I honestly think that only ever started with Reach. The OT is a bit of power fantasy that feels very, very Sci-fi and when compared to the COD and Battlefield games at the time, they felt drastically different in tone and mechanics. Halo Reach really introduced that grittier military blended with sci-fi feel, I think
@@Clarinet_cowboy2000 I agree, even the campaign was littered with CoD esque scripted events. Nobody wants to say it, but Emile's look was totally riding the hype Ghost had in MW2.
@@Clarinet_cowboy2000 no it always felt like a military vs alien shooter somewhat in vein with aliens or Star ship troopers but with a greater emphasis on war and the military. Somewhat like call of duty but with aliens and zombies instead of Russians. Even playing the first couple of halo 3 missions with friends as kids, we just assumed that it took place in a modern/near futuristic setting purely based on how indistinguishable the art style of the UNSC was to a modern military. Also in terms of gameplay, I find it hard to compare halo to other sci fi shooters such as destiny or apex due to halos more boots on the ground style of movement. You play as a super soldier not a Jedi that uses magic to levitate things, not a guardian that can fly and shoot rainbows, not a pilot that controls a 20ft mech but a super soldier created for the sole purpose of defending humanity along side marines and other branches of the military. I didn’t mean that halo is in direct vein with cod or battlefield but many aspects of halo definitely allows the three to be comparable
They're both mp fps games that take a lot of time investment especially now with the new live service microtransaction pushing. They're obviously still in competition as is every live service game today.
Every shooter right now follows a standard: Free to play to an extent, Live service fixing things that should've been fixed on launch and Confusing monetization standard with a Battle pass with resetting seasons. I really hope for Infinite to change this formula and remake the genre as CE did 20 years ago
One of my favorite things we've seen is the movement I have never been the best at mid to long range scrimmages but if I'm in your face is when I'm comfortable so I've always strived to learn how movement worked and that's what I've always loved of halo games even halo 5 to a degree aside from the sandbox being garbage and I'm so excited to see how the movement works in infinite
Before e3 and all the multiplayer news I was very much a play campaign then multiplayer type of guy, but now I really really want to be one of the first people who get to experience the customization and craziness of multiplayer
I just hope my PC runs this game since it's practically impossible to upgrade right now considering the availability of parts (or rather unavailability)
Halo cannot fail. Phil Spencer saved Xbox and Microsoft gaming big time. I’m so glad to be at the age I’m at and being able to appreciate the growth of video games since early 2000s . Nowadays people just expect sick games coming out constantly whilst in the past we didn’t have that many at all. There was CS 1.6, Halo, and Quake. There was WC3 Dota, world of Warcraft and Starcraft. That was the whole Esports scene. I really liked what you said in the video about picking up games quick enough. I recently tried rainbow played a few matches and just deleted it. I appreciate the detail and complexity but this game cannot attract new Shooter veterans like me. There is too much to learn too fast and I just don’t have the time for that. Same applies to Valorant and Overwatch. Too many things to learn until you start winning more. That’s why I like games that are complex in terms of gameplay and not learning curves. You log into CSgo for example and you know what you should be doing but to master it takes time and practice and not reading trough patch notes and learning every little active and passive ability or team comps or any of that. Okay this is beginning to sound like a big rant but if you wanna take something from this. Games that are simple to pick up but hard to master are the greatest.
Halo Infinite is definitely gonna be either the 2nd or 1st best fps game in the market because yes it is a excellent shooter game it still has to compete with battlefield 2042 which is also another amazing game that obviously already topped call of duty and warzone
The only concern I would have is that a lot of other games are more personalized in MP, so you can bring your own weapons and abilities into MP matches and halo doesn’t have that It would be interesting to see PvE in halo adopt sort of strikes and raid like game modes for those that want to bring their own Spartan into other areas of the game and perhaps have loadouts there
I disagree, this was at the core of the issues with Halo 4’s and 5’s multiplayer. Loadouts and ordinances absolutely destroyed the multiplayer balancing and made the game incredibly not fun to play beyond things like BTB (Halo 4 BTB is actually a lot of fun), specifically 4v4 slayer. Not to mention, this made the sandbox nearly useless beyond power weapons like the sniper and rocket launcher, since trading up for power in the sandbox wasn’t needed to gain an edge when you could spawn with one of two powerful utility weapons (DMR/BR) plus the boltshot which was a one hit kill pocket cannon. Plus you could even argue this started happening in Reach, too, since loadouts were kind of a thing then too. Warzone in Halo 5 further muddied the sandbox (even though it did cool things) and not to mention things like Spartan abilities really skewed the balancing of the sandbox in favor of abilities. I think Fletch makes a great point in this video, in that when Halo isn’t competing with other shooters and is really leaning into its sandbox arena shooter core, it does leaps and bounds better than if it tried to make Halo versions of other FPS mechanics.
Remember Halo has better Physics than Call of Duty. You can destroy wooden planks, unlike COD, Apex, and other FPS first person shooter games, (besides R6). This is why it is superior, it is more realistic in every single way, and Halo Infinite is about to further inhense that; especially with SMART LEARNING AI!
as a MW19 and Warzone player...i'm hyped to grind halo (hopefully a ranked mode?). it will be nice to play an arena shooter...no more RPG's, claymores or campers. the only thing i'm disappointed in so far is that there wont be playable Elites
TBH when I saw there was no flashy new mode or a BR in Halo I was worried. Then the Multiplayer overview was trending #1 on TH-cam. Makes me believe that Halo's core gameplay experience is enough to get people's attention
I think the greatest thing about halo is the fact that emphasis is back on the sandbox which ALLOWS for it to become, well ANY type of video game you want it to be. Dont like that theres no battle royale in halo? okay... go into forge, make a battle royale map, turn off fall damage and make a one life mode where everyone spawns on the "drop ship" and has to jump off the map and find weapons to be the last person standing. The possibilities are endless with halo
Simply put…Halo has always had the most fun multiplayer. Anytime over the years if i wanna jus laugh & have some good times I pop in Halo jump in matches & that’s been with each Halo..
If I'm honest one thing I love in video games is customization like no joke I eat that shit up I'll literally kiss the developers feet if a game has customization and in depth customization which is why I'm excited for Halo Infinite because not only is the halo reach spartan armor customization coming back but customization of your personal AI, weapon customization (if that's still happening) etc has me on board
its interesting to see halo just trying to do it's own thing in an industry always chasing the new trend. i kinda expected halo wouldve become a battle royale hero shooter at this point but im glad it hasn't. im curious to see if this will help halo infinite be a success as it's going to probably be the most unique AAA shooter on the market when it launches
In my opinion, back in the day and used to have to compete with all of duty. Nowadays, it’s name has been in the industry so long, it doesn’t need to prove anything. If anything we need to get back to the classic halo, it’s earlier stages. And has a solid reputation as a brand
Halo, the game that revolutionized modern shooter controls without mouse and keyboard. The game that carried Half-Life's legacy of narration in action games into the newer generations. Halo, always on the cutting edge of graphical capability with each new installment. Halo, home.
It doesn’t need to either! Halo should have jet packs grapple hooks and all sorts of futuristic stuff. I’m so excited for infinite, and quiet frankly it’s time for halo to make a return.
if they make forge ftp the entire game will be drop dead gorgeous for those who just want to explore. let's be honest, pvp, custom games and even theater mode is probably the bare minimum of ftp paid is gonna be campaign, forge, firefight and co-OP campaign. theee is no reason to not play this game even with these in mind
splitgate is the only free to play game I can think of similar to halo but even then I feel its too small to even come close for a competition. Really great game though! Very similar to halo but with portals, I'm pretty sure ex bungie halo devs worked on it too if my memory serves me right.
The day has come, where our brothers and sisters of old return from beyond the stars, to descend down upon nostalgic memories and new features alike, the day is here to reclaim our throne, the good days of clan wars where you'd meet up against your rival clans and fight it out days, weeks, months of brutal bloody war, a war we have all missed, Let our Assault rifles sing and our energy swords Glisten once again.
Halo is its own unique franchise and does not have to compete with any other shooter, people will always come back to halo, specially when it is done right like Infinite.
It never had to compete. 1 was a realistically themed, inconsistent sprint ads shooter focused on low ttk. While the other was an arena shooter with streamlined mechanics and a consistent sandbox with the goals of emergent gameplay, equal starts and guns up vertical gameplay. At reach and at then advance warfare, the games started to try to be each other. And damaged the market focused on competition rather then inovation cooperation and progress

- Will it release separately to the Campaign/Multiplayer?

even if there's no other games like halo, infinite will still have to compete for peoples time... but i think with the fact it's free to play, and has a training/ academy mode new players will try it out and become new halo fans...in the past, games had to compete for your time and money, and most cod fanboys would never buy a halo, and vice versa... now there's no reason not to try out almost every game out there
If it brings back the classic Halo feel that made it great in the first place it's not going to have any issues.
Anyone notice they took the Wraith's design back to the original? No more uplifted back from H5
Yes and I'm happy

I'm just glad that this year many franchises are making a comeback, that is the best possible outcome for us the consumers.
I bought Modern Warfare last year and loved it because the multiplayer felt like the old days for a while, but overtime it started to feel like the same old Call of Duty that gets released every single year, and Cold War only reinforced that feeling; it was really sad cause there wasn't really anything else that felt like the older franchises I used to play.

Halo 5 is the least “halo” game of them all. Comparing that to other games isn’t even fair when you consider how different the original trilogy is. Infinite is a seemingly perfect mix of both styles and will allow for a truly unique experience imo
I’m gonna stop you there at destiny 2 competitive and halo 5 competitive.

It's much smarter for Halo multiplayer to maintain it's uniqueness rather than trying to directly compete with other first person shooters.

The only concern I would have is that a lot of other games are more personalized in MP, so you can bring your own weapons and abilities into MP matches and halo doesn’t have that
It would be interesting to see PvE in halo adopt sort of strikes and raid like game modes for those that want to bring their own Spartan into other areas of the game and perhaps have loadouts there
I disagree, this was at the core of the issues with Halo 4’s and 5’s multiplayer.
Great video Fletch and I agree. There really isn't much that competes with Halo currently

I'm curious about forge and the possibilities it has
In my opinion, back in the day and used to have to compete with all of duty.

What make halo good was that it wasn’t just a reskin of every FPS, it was its own thing
"And then you have CSGO which is very much like Valorant"
I think you mean Valorant which is very much like CSGO
Halo is its own unique franchise and does not have to compete with any other shooter, people will always come back to halo, specially when it is done right like Infinite.
It never had to compete. 1 was a realistically themed, inconsistent sprint ads shooter focused on low ttk. While the other was an arena shooter with streamlined mechanics and a consistent sandbox with the goals of emergent gameplay, equal starts and guns up vertical gameplay.
At reach and at then advance warfare, the games started to try to be each other. And damaged the market focused on competition rather then inovation cooperation and progress
All I know is when Halo Infinite comes out I’m using all of my vacation and sick days so I can play Halo with my homies like no tomorrow, so hyped!
