Hey guys. Looks like you still had the O ring on the QAD Exodus during the durability test. The instructions on the broadhead mentions that it is to be removed, and is only for shipping. The impact would cause the O ring to compress and allow play for the blades to come out if kept on. Remove to O ring and it would have been the winner on all tests. By far the best broadhead to date. Thanks for the video, gave me peace of mind that I am shooting the best one out there, and helps with ethical hunting.
Meh, they are good but I personally hate replaceable blades. I had the original Exodus, they were shaped a bit different, these ones look almost barbed.... Not sure if they are even legal. Anyway, i switched to the annihilator from the Exodus. I like not having to worry about buying blades and to me they perform as good as any on deer.
I’m new to archery and I really appreciate you and your friends doing this. Showing different types of heads size and weight. Let alone showing how deep they go
I've been hunting with IronWill broadheads for two years now..This will be my third season with them. They're outstanding broadheads. Cool test. Was pretty impressed with a variety of the heads you tested. Nice we have soooo many good options.
way back when I had a broadhead testing website myself and I know how much work went into your tests. I was very surprised with the Killzone results as those are what I shoot now for deer and have never had any issues with them coming apart. I used an orange to test how fast the blades open, and used plywood, tires and a steel drum to test penetration and durability. ( No Gel back then). Thanks for your work and sharing the results.

I know this an older video now, but I did not hear you mention something when commenting on the ballistics gel testing for penetration. As you noted, some of the mechanical heads appeared not to have fully deployed. Although this is possible and even likely, all of those arrows bounce back slightly when they stop. When they give up their forward momentum for rearward acceleration might be why you see some of the mechanicals come to rest not fully deployed.

Good test. I’d love to see how the Day 6, Iron Will, QAD, and Cutthroat perform on a deer. Just pointing out that the single bevels, like the Cutthroat, rotate through the tissue giving an S shaped cut, which increases the damage done. I’m shooting 200 grain cutthroats for deer and elk this year and they fly great! Today I shot four 3 shot groups at 30 yards and my biggest group was 2” and smallest was 0.5” Fantastic heads for the price, and significantly cheaper than the Day 6 and Iron Will.
You sir are a smart man who researches what they shoot. To many un education people these days shooting shitty mechanicals with a light arrow who are getting consistent run offs. I won’t shoot anything under a 650 grain arrow with a solid single bevel. Cuts through the deer like butter. Thanks for doing your research!
@@tanner8100 at 650 grains you better dead nuts with the range of the shot or you'll miss high or low. Moderation is key. 4-500 grain, standard FOC is more than enough to kill anything in north American. Including the big bears. A 3 blade like the Exodus on 492 grain arrow at 292 is a bit excessive but shoots very nice. People are all sucking ranch fairy's Kool aid and forgetting he has killed ZERO elk. Only hogs n little Texas whitetails at known, close yardages at a feeder. There's a point of diminishing returns in all things.
Tried the Rage in 2018 and shot the biggest deer of my life from 10 yards away. I only got about 5" of penetration because it caught a rib, found the deer bedded, and the deer stood up and walked away with the arrow falling out. I will never use a mechanical blade ever again. Back to my reliable Muzzy 100 gr fixed blades. Mechanicals are hit or miss and I prefer consistency. Great video guys! 👍
Rage always open....hard, that’s the problem with them. They hyper-extend and slap upon impact essentially self arresting and even opening so far that they bounce and are forced back closed. Never shoot rage, someday they will cost you a deer when you need them most!
I have used killzones since they came out. I never lost a deer, or had one break or bend, not one deer made it over 40 to 45 yards. They make massive entrance and exit holes.
@@Life-of-Bluegrass_Music And you believe that proves something? Really? There are an infinite amount of circumstances when an arrow hits a deer but you think your experience shooting 6 deer is enough proof to form any belief about the braodhead? I could say the same about any arrow head, shit, even an arrow with no head on it! What we can say for sure is that the likelihood for failure using a mechanical is 100% higher than a fixed blade when it comes to the question of whether or not it will function.
@@AO-ip6yx with that amount emotion in your text, and your that worried about a deer? Shoot a damn gun. 308 Winchester never fails. 😂😂 If you hunt with a bow/crossbow, it is purely sport if your gonna handicap yourself to that degree with the technology available.
@@blackraven8841 Shooting deer with a rifle is lame compared to archery. It’s a much more personal and intense experience. I’m not above killing something with a rifle but it means so much less. '
In reality every single one of these would kill any animal you hit with it with zero issues. Most people seriously overthink broad heads. Remember what they were using 50 years ago. Good video guys, I enjoyed it.
Mathew your looking at this simply from a speed stand point. While yes speed can be an important feature to be concerned with, if you pay attention to THP and the Ranch Fairy they take ethical shots most aren’t past 25 yards.... The high FOC arrow is going to penetrate better than a lighter arrow with speed no matter how you look at it. Yes at greater distances the slower high FOC arrow would be prone to missing its ideal target spot because of its speed but that’s a poor judgment call from the shooter not a “problem with the arrow set up”.
@@flappinfatties1118 I killed my first deer with a bow when I was 9. I'm also a mechanical engineer. Theres nothing you can tell me about kinetic energy to make me change my mind. Watch THP videos and I promise everytime they miss or don't recover its 💯 due to speed.
It actually allows manufacturers to combine materials that otherwise wouldn't combine in a melting process giving it different properties therefore optimizing (if done right) the material
It's been a LONG time since I watched a half hour video on TH-cam. Nice work! I'm looking to get back into archery for our channel and thoroughly enjoyed this...now I have to go back and start from the beginning on your channel, haha. Keep up the great work!
Arkansas Reaper the Reapers are a different design from any other expandable. They are at least 3/4 open entry. They are great as long as if you take them apart. You must reassemble them correctly.
I have used the Grim Reaper 100 Gr razor Tip 1 3/8 heads for years since they came out and they haven't let me down once and have put a lot of animals down for me with almost everyone falling where they stand or within my eye sight I can only think of one or two I have shot I didn't see fall and they were no problems tracking them and they fell within 50 yards or less . I will not be using anything else unless they stop making them .
I think the ultra shot has the best expansion and channel out of all of the other broad heads, I guess that is what everyone needs to switch too now😂😂🤣
Same here, they all fly the same for me, very accurate. The durability is something to be desired though. I usually have a few fail or fall apart in my target. I always get a pass through and short recovery!
Stick with what you have confidence in. I always used NAP Killzone but lost a monster Buck in Ohio last year and am on the mission to replace my old faithful with a new mechanical head. So far Deadmeat/megameat, slick trick raptor trick and thorn broadheads on my radar.
Man I hope I win that boat! I finally got my dream house on the bayou with my own dock and slip. I would freakin lose it if I didn’t have to bring the kayak on the water every time I wanted to fish the banks out back. That boat would fit perfectly in my slip and would look gorgeous too!!
I've used the grim reapers for a few years now. I've only had one that did not give me a complete pass through, and that was an extreme quartaring shot and it still punched through the opposite shoulder. it does open right after penetration, but gives an exit wound you can fit a golf ball in. (they fly exactly like a field trip as well)
I shot the toxic a few years back and was not impressed in the least. Just my personal experience but they did not group well, the blades actually expanded quite a bit after just shooting them into a target, and after shooting the same head 2 times one the them just ripped out. but that was just my experience.
I think price needs to wrap this up. Ironwill Daysix & Exodus $110 $90 & $50 for a 3 pack respectively. Regarding fixed blade Exodus it is for me. Cheers for the review boys it’s was well done. 👍🏼
Lee, love the new hairstyle - it is so you! Nice of you to drop off the boat this Fall - just in time we go ice fishing in Minnesota, it will take a little longer to chop a hole for the boat.
First heard of y’all in GON, killing monsters in the Atl. I figured y’all were baiting lazy deer. I have apologized many times to my buddies and now am a subscriber. I share your passions and your faith. Live few miles east in Augusta. Have you ever tried a toxic broad head? I recently bought some per a buddy in Texas but haven’t used them. Great videos if you care to see. Thank y’all. Good luck this season.
Thanks for the impartial testing. One thing u said about fixed blades & trusting them with consistency is more about an arrow build & not the head. I'm not shooting 70 lbs., just 62. My bow shoots center-shot & that's what I strive for. However arrow flight with a proprietary single chunk of high grade tool steel on the front that u can sharpen again & again for years with no epic failures upon impact is monumental. Shooting a micro .166 inside diameter shaft that last couple of years has been an eye-opening experience with me in more ways than one. I would love to see 1 bow setup to shoot this in your next testing. The last thing I would like to say is about my environment. In the state I live in the gun is king & most of the rut if not all is during that period. I have made deadly shots in the past only to have the deer run 50 yards or more & leave my small zone. One was a buck that a gun hunter watched fall down on a very windy day. He then shot once about 20 seconds after the 🦌 crashed on video & claimed it. I simply had to adapt my setup to be as lethal as possible. My broadhead of choice is the Valkyrie short Jag. The last 2 deer I've taken with it I've only had to bloodtrail 20 yards, combined. No spine shots, I just waited until the deer was standing quartering toward me in my shooting lane. I don't release until the front leg on the exit side is forward. That way the exit is clean just behind the shoulder & lower than the impact side. The point of impact is simply where a good gun hunter aims. At the point of the shoulder where the neck starts. The bloodl-loss is so ridiculous that it shocks you. The arrow buried 10 inches in the ground is proof that great arrow flight continued after it exited. Reminds me of the way it was in the 90's when I started this journey. Thanks for the video & don't stop now & never compromise. We owed it to the quarry.
get a compound and shoot it till you can shoot a group of three arrows inside of a paper cup consistently then go hunting, i've been hunting with a bow since i was 12 and there is nothing more rewarding, good luck and hopefully clean shots when you get to go.
Once again I just wanted to thank your Collective group this is solid valid valuable knowledge for deer hunters and I like your approach that you're looking at it from a deer hunter mindset not a Target Hunter is that the speed doesn't kill the deer it's the wound channel in the exit hole
I picked up a package of the Exodus 3-4 years ago when I bought my bow, I finally took it out to hunt with it this year on my special draw tag for cow moose. First day, i shot a moose behind the shoulder and the broad head was resting on the far side just under the hide. Dropped in seconds. I guess I made the right choice randomly a few years ago 😂 worked like a charm!
Great video! Something I noticed though.. It seemed like some of the arrows were cut short for draw length and the broadheads super close to his hand left hand.

started shooting NAP killzones last year, definitely impressed, even though they didnt win in the video, they at least open everytime unlike rage
Rage always open....hard, that’s the problem with them. They hyper-extend and slap upon impact essentially self arresting and even opening so far that they bounce and are forced back closed. Never shoot rage, someday they will cost you a deer when you need them most!
I have used killzones since they came out. I never lost a deer, or had one break or bend, not one deer
made it over 40 to 45 yards.
If you hunt with a bow/crossbow, it is purely sport if your gonna handicap yourself to that degree with the technology available.
For sure! Precision shooting is what matters. You can use a field point if u double lung them or heart shoot them they are dead!
I said it before and I'll say it again.. This channel is underrated AF
Thank you fellers! Great video!
Gonna be combining this with THP w/ ranch fairy when tuning this year. Gonna see which performs and flies the best! Love you guys!
Same!
Definitely going with a much heavier arrow set up.
Go ahead and follow THP. Add all that nonsense weight. Slow your bow way down and start missing deer like they do with inconsistencies
This was an awesome broadhead test! Seriously, great job guys. It’s also clear that you guys kept your personal biases out of it. Thank you.
When I’m a dad this is what I want to be doing with my friends in the backyard with a bbq on a Sunday
Gentlemen, great video thank you. Please do a follow up. Would love to know what your go to broadhead is and why. Happy New Year!
injection molded metal is plenty strong its used as connecting rods in diesel motors... plenty for a broadhead
Keep up the great work!
the slow motion gel sound was so satisfying lol
The Grim reaper broadheads impressed me the most! That wound channel....
It looks good in the jelly but you're not aiming for jelly if that reaper hit any bone at all it would probably act weird
I’ll never use an over-the-top expanding head again. Ever again.

Worked for me
Great video. Thanks guys, that was extremely informative.
I think the ultra shot has the best expansion and channel out of all of the other broad heads, I guess that is what everyone needs to switch too now😂😂🤣
I've been shooting QAD Exodus ever since they came out. You won't be disappointed..Good video
After the barrel shots y’all should’ve shot the ballistics gel again
very cool comparison and i LOVE the thumbnail!!!
Next time throw in the Magnus Black Hornet and Stinger.
I want to see that too
I’d put the stinger up there with the iron will and the bh better than the g5
🤣🎯 that gel block is a wall hanger! Super cool info.
As soon as he said his plan is to turn the limo into a deer hunting blind I subscribed.
Congratulations, my first time seeing you and you gained a sub.
Tons of good info! I shoot NAP Spitfires and they haven’t failed me yet so imma stick with them !
Cool video! On the 2nd shot of the accuracy test that broadhead looked like it was gonna slice that dudes finger!
Grim reaper has some amazing fixed blade broadheads , check them out
Slo-mo cam would be handy and entertaining 😁
Man I hope I win that boat! I finally got my dream house on the bayou with my own dock and slip. I would freakin lose it if I didn’t have to bring the kayak on the water every time I wanted to fish the banks out back. That boat would fit perfectly in my slip and would look gorgeous too!!
If your lookin for cheap buy a small wooden boat and slap a cheap engine one it, $1000 max
Awesome video! Very helpful.
I put the code in as you had on the screen and in kept saying invalid code. Please help
Tony DeMeo I have the same issue
same here
Good video!!! It would have been nice to see how each one flew compared to field points.
He used the same dart 3 times 🎯🤪
I've used the grim reapers for a few years now. I've only had one that did not give me a complete pass through, and that was an extreme quartaring shot and it still punched through the opposite shoulder. it does open right after penetration, but gives an exit wound you can fit a golf ball in. (they fly exactly like a field trip as well)
I would have liked to see a Toxic broadhead thrown into the mix.
And the kratos
I shot the toxic a few years back and was not impressed in the least. Just my personal experience but they did not group well, the blades actually expanded quite a bit after just shooting them into a target, and after shooting the same head 2 times one the them just ripped out. but that was just my experience.
Been shooting the QAD Exodus broadheads for the past 3 years now after watching testing videos and reviews, and I can say I love them.
Did no one else see that he picked the same sticky dart all three times😂
Did you not know that it was planned and only a joke. LOL
Awesome Broadhead analysis ..... Interesting!!
Idk if i have dyslexia or what, but I read the title as "Best Roadheads of 2020" so here I am
If you had dyslexia you would have gotten past best lol
Awesome info! Keep these videos coming!
“That will kill the snot out of a deer”
Lee-2020
Garrett, use the rubber dart broad head . It works every time
I think price needs to wrap this up. Ironwill Daysix & Exodus $110 $90 & $50 for a 3 pack respectively. Regarding fixed blade Exodus it is for me. Cheers for the review boys it’s was well done. 👍🏼
Watching his back tension each shot...oh wait, there is none 🤯
His draw length was too long, he literally couldn’t pull through his shot.
Love the videos I really appreciate that you give the glory to God hope you have another successful deer season and always keep God, and family first.
I've killed a lot of deer with Grim Reapers. Love them. If any of you ever shot a deer with them you would be amazed in the damage they cause.
which grim reaper do you use
Glad to have you! Nope we haven’t tried the Toxics yet
Nice shot Ralphie.
Grim Reapers all I use love those
what model do you have
Thanks for the impartial testing.
I really want to get into Compound bows
I’m 13 and have hunted with a crossbow for a while
I love my mom and dads compounds though
I’m 14 and I’m gonna get into compound bows hopefully next season
get a compound and shoot it till you can shoot a group of three arrows inside of a paper cup consistently then go hunting, i've been hunting with a bow since i was 12 and there is nothing more rewarding, good luck and hopefully clean shots when you get to go.
Luke Donnan shot my first bow buck last year with a exodus. it’s a bad boy
Glad y’all did a review on the dead meats!! Keep up the good work and good luck this coming up season!!
His wig is so...AMAZING
Great video! Something I noticed though.. It seemed like some of the arrows were cut short for draw length and the broadheads super close to his hand left hand.
Great video gents! Thanks for the info and the testing
