    RP4Pro owner here. It's so small with great power. It's perfect for raw dogging with no case in my pockets for amusement park lines. I have addidas zipper pockets so not worried about it falling out during the ride. I feel like that's the perfect use case, especially since it preserves my phone battery in my other pocket. Any larger and it would probably be uncomfortable 2 devices in my pockets. Plus not super worried if it were to break tbh. I'll probably skip this generation and hope the RP6 is no bigger than the rp5 and still packs AMOLED but with a stronger chip. I just get scared raw dogging devices that approach 250+ with shipping, taxes etc

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I don’t really put devices larger than my rg28xx in an actual pocket, and larger ones always get a case. But I can see your point if that is a priority for you!

    • @Blitz_modz
      @Blitz_modz หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Bro I’m the same way, portability went a long way for me, I can fit my 4pro in it’s case in my pockets or jacket pockets I skateboard so a lot of my pants are a lil baggy anyways, and even if I’ve got smaller pockets or am usually ju at carrying it around in my pocket I have a 3d printed clip shield, and it’s crazy good fits in my pocket just like a phone and I don’t have to worry ab the sticks or anything in my pockets, I honestly sold my switch cause it wasn’t portable like when I had a 3ds, which I also needs put some of those on my rp4p come to think of it
      I just got done this morning adding another 40 or so ps2 games to my alr 70 ps2 game collection, what’s crazy is I do legit play them, and not only that but I’ve had friends and even my dad has started coming over to my house cause we can play so many couch co op games on my big tv and hook multiple controllers easily and I’ve genuinely not had latency or lag, no one’s complained ab it and I haven’t even had slow downs when which surprised me for co op and multiple Bluetooth controllers, and not a single game multiplayer or single player I’ve come across a problem with, if it’s slow or something there’s legit always been a setting to fix it at least so far, is the and being able to just play it on my own in handheld mode I go back and forth between twilight princess on GameCube, ROM hacks like Pokémon unbound or radical red on gba and a ton more.c it’s honestly become my main handheld and home console, I still play my ps4 and will most likely keep playing certain rom hacks and psp/vita games always on my Japan ps vita I modded myself and is what got me into emulation, I’m glad I still use both, and I’m more than happy, I’ll prob stick with the 4 pro for a long time like most likely at least a couple years, I do the same thing with my phones and wait for a big generation leap, rn I’m more than happy and content 🤝
      I think the rp5 looks hella beautiful tho and I do like the design cause it reminds me of a more future vita, really excited to see what they come out with next few gens, great video and review btw!

    the only reason i don't wanna upgrade to the 5 is this
    1) If i really want performance, I can spring for the Odin 2 Mini with its 8G2 processor while also having a similar footprint, or go big with the Odin 2. Sure, the jump between D1100 and 865 is decent (especially with Turnip drivers) but it still can't square up fully with 8G2, much less if you're intending to dock and requiring to use higher upscale.
    2) most of the games I play on the retroid are Gamecube which is fine to play at 1.5-2x on that small screen. I ain't using a dock to play on my PC monitor or TV where I have to upscale a lot and in turin causing lag etc
    3) If I really want best performance for PS2 games, I would just play on PC cuz PCSX2 Exists.
    4) the issue now is emulation efficiency on emulator apps on android. Switch is barely on life support with takedowns and PS2 emulator development has stalled for the most part. back to #1 Odin 2 really hit the highest point for android emulation performance already cuz 8G2 is still relatively new while being the same processor as last year's flagship phones like S23 etc.
    and lastly the dumbest reason
    5) I love the watermelon colour a lot it's a shame the 5 doesn't have much colour options. The watermelon colour definitely adds more spa-zazz and personality than just the black/white/"off white" style colours.

    • @bassderek

    Form factor is king for me, I love the design of the 4 Pro. I'm not sold on the look of the RP5. I have an RG556 and it is nice for sitting at home on the couch, but I'd never take it anywhere with me, whereas I rarely go anywhere without the RP4 Pro. It won that spot despite me thinking it was too small a screen for the price for the longest time. Now, if I reach for anything bigger than the RP4 Pro, I'm generally grabbing the Steam Deck.
    What I'd have loved is the design of the 4 Pro, with the Snapdragon chip and larger screen (because I'm certain they could have fit a full 5 inch screen - or 4.95 like the TrimUI Smart Pro). That might have made me jump. As it is now, I'll wait to see what the RP6 looks like. I'm sure the RP5 will be a hit and people will love it, but it isn't for me.
    Thanks for this comparison though.

    • @bassderek
      @bassderek  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Slightly larger (but in my opinion worse) screen, performance that is more of a guarantee that everything will run well upscaled (though the RP5 handles most ps2/gc at at least 2x no problem), top joystick location, possibly more comfortable for joystick games (depending on your hands). I didn't bond with the Odin 2 and would rather have this for the OLED screen and smaller size.
