I bought an iPad Pro M1 when it came out. I never used it for anything more than watching TH-cam videos and doing regular stuff I also do on my phone and eventually sold it. It was just way too big for what I used it for. Now, sometime I want some more screen real estate to do regular daily things I do on my phone so I have been highly considering a mini for the last year. Might pull the trigger on this... would've been nice to get 120hz but tbh it's not that serious to me even tho I have a promotion 16 pro max and MacBook Pro. It just seems like the perfect in-between from my phone and MacBook when I want more screen but dont want to lug around my MacBook!
They could’ve increased the size to 8.5 inches, added a A18 chip, OLED display and 90hz and it could’ve actually been a significant change, this launch was so disappointing, they couldve done so much with this in the last 3 years
I hope you mean a screen increase, while only slimming the bezels. I do not want the iPad mini to become physically larger. It has the perfect size to slip into a coat pocket.
OLED has been reserved for iPad Pros, they will not stick it onto an entry level iPad mini. iPad and iPad Air both have standard Liquid Retina display.

When drawing it looks like the strokes blink in place, and filming it in slowmotion confirmed that in many cases the stroke filled in after the physical stroke was finished. If drawing slow (as done here) / once connected and drawing slow the digital stroke follows along the pen well, as shown here.
I do see that it is more than enough for art, and has some improvements over the iPad Mini 6 for artists. But if it's an easy recommendation for people buying their first iPad, is it really worth spending on if you already have a Mini 6 and an older Pencil? I think you might already have a video planned for this question but if you don't, I'm telling you you need to make one too!
Brad, you could consider making a review of the drawing stands beside the sketchboard pro? Like the drawing stands of the Aliexpress made of wood and also bamboo.

wow that's expensive! I live in Germany, I got the pro pen for free with the ipad pro 2024 as a student discount, so I didn't have to purchase one for the mini. I got the Mini itself the 256 gb for 669 euros ( no idea how much that translates to AUD). But I also got a very cheap yet very good folio for just 6 euros. It doesn't have the apple logo but because of that it cost over 50 euros cheaper.
Hey Brad, is there any increase in layers possible for Procreate with this new iPad. I'm debating upgrading my iPad 2020 to this version, because of the Apple Pencil 2 because I love the hover and idea of gyro sensitive brushes, but I wanted to know if something like a 24x18" canvas at 300 DPI would increase from 9 layers to something larger??? It's a pity that the market of small tablets with stylus support is almost non-existant. I really love the iPad Mini (I had the 5th gen one and now I use the 6th gen and it's awesome), but I wish that there were options like Galaxy Tab S Mini or something like that from other big tablet manufacturers, because I think that the whole market would benefit from a good competition.
Need some more details regarding how is performance while using procreate, how-many layers you can have, if possible can you also share a comparison with the ipad air m2 i want to buy ipad but i m not getting a constructive opinion on both these devices.
The only gripe I have with the mini or any non pro ipad in general is the lack of higher refresh rate. 60hz on a tablet size screen just feels extremely slow no matter how well you optimize it.. I have always felt that whenever I tried an iPad air as well. Android tablets are far better in this regard as they have a minimum of 90hz display which makes it extremely smooth

I'm thinking about getting this just to have as my eBook Reader and Sketchbook for bed. I think for what I am going to be using it for I do not need the 120 Pro Motion refresh rate. It'd be nice but I doubt we'll see that till next design change in 2 or 3 years for the mini. If I need the higher refresh rate I have my M1 12.9 IPad Pro for that.

Back when I was using ipad as my main drawing device, I wanted to have an artist ecosystem where I would have the big pro for around the house and going on trips and the mini for everyday commutes and trips to the cafe. unfortunately, procreate doesn't let you sync files between multiple ipads and exporting/reimporting between devices is just not worth owning two ipads.

i really don’t get the camera being on top obsession. You’re still not looking into the right spot when on a call and it was the sole reason they made the Pencil magnets weaker. A really bad trade-off.
Just get an used/refurbished ipad air with m1 chip and the 2nd gen pencil.(Does have pen pressure sensitivity too) More bang for your buck if you dont need the smaller form factor and the latest pencil with the extra wgeel feature that is just a gimmick

That’s $667 usd. Similar to US price. It’s not for everyone, but it’s in keeping with with most international prices. Others pay a lot more

Just get an used/refurbished ipad air with m1 chip and the 2nd gen pencil.(Does have pen pressure sensitivity too) More bang for your buck if you dont need the smaller form factor and the latest pencil with the extra wgeel feature that is just a gimmick

For the size, it’s perfect. Please don’t ask a kid to be like a grown man. Enjoy them. I have a 5 and it’s still perfect.
I'm happy with my 12.9 as the screen size fits my needs. The mini would be to small.
