Thank you for posting this tribute to Dick Van Dyke. It was all amazing and he deserved every second of it. He has made a big difference in a lot of lives. I'm happy that he was part of the 2021 Kennedy Center Honors as a honoree.

It’s a shame it took so long. He seems like a wonderful man. I’m English and always felt so bad the way he was ridiculed over his role as Bert. Nobody could have come even close to that performance. One of the last great showmen. Thank you Dick for being such a hero to not only my children, but now my grandchildren. And he’s right, this honor is the equivalent (if not more worthy) than a knighthood. Arise, Sir Dick Van Dyke!

God really loves him. I think a lot of people could be happy like this but so many people abuse them and so negative it doesn't shine. He's blessed because God gave him an environment that built up that happiness and beauty. Very blessed. If only we could all be blessed like this then we'd have Heaven on earth.

He's just so wonderful. . .and so humble. Manages to articulate what an honour it is to win this, compliment everyone else who's ever received it, and yet say he can't figure out why he's one of them. He's provided so much real entertainment over the decades. An American treasure.

I met Dick Van Dyke a few years ago at dinner with friends. It turns out he is a friend of a friend of a friend but still there I was having dinner sitting next to him. I am not in anyway part of hollywood. He had every right to be uninterested in me, but he was just the nicest guy. One of my life moments was saying something that made him laugh. He is so generous with a laugh. So talented. So funny and just a good guy.

Dick Van Dyke is a true artist and performer in his field. I watch the Kennedy Center Honors every time it’s on and I remember, at one point, saying to myself…how is it that Dick Van Dyke has not been honored yet?…. I am extremely happy that he has been now. He deserves it. He is an absolute legend who has made people smile, laugh, and maybe even dance. He made all his dance numbers look effortless, and so smooth but there is a lot of work that goes into making it look like that. A pure entertainer and he always has a positive outlook.

A true gentleman and a gentle man, 95 years young and he goes out to give money to day labourers in his home state who are struggling to put food on their tables, and he does it quietly. Show’s you can be temperate, moral and true. A heart as big as the country that bore him, his noble ness of spirit shines though his smile. I’m sixty and have always loved watching him perform, never any bad language, bad news, just good wholesome family fun. Can you guess I like him?.

I remember nominating this man for this honor. I don't know if it was my statement that got him honored or not. But, I remember nominating him. I simply felt it was WAY OVERDUE!!! What his man did on stage, screen, music, TV, movies, etc. Good freakin' Lord, I don't know what else one has done to equal what DVD has done.
One of my favorites still was his appearance on Highway to Heaven, playing that homeless puppeteer. As far as I'm concerned, simply iconic. I'm just sorry we don't have another one like him.

"A heart is not judged by how much YOU love, but by how much you are loved by OTHERS!" It is so very true, and definitely true of Dick Van Dyke! As wonderful and well deserved as receiving this honour is, I think that all these glowing comments about him, in response to this video shows what an amazing man he is! I mean....I don't think I've ever seen such unanimous acclaim from You Tube commenters before! ONLY Dick Van Dyke could do that!!

As marvelous as he was in the Dick Van Dyke show, ( just incredible) there is so much more to his career. He started as a part of a duet pantomime act on the night club circuit and on local television. That is where his physical comedy skills were first honed. He worked in radio for awhile ( he's got a perfect voice for it) including in the Special Services division of the Airforce entertaining on air overseas. He won a tony for his work in Bye Bye Birdie and carried the first Broadway revival of The Music Man. He starred in more than a dozen films and his work in television included Diagnosis Murder , the New Dick Van Dyke Show and as a regular on the Carol Burnett show in 1977 and countless guest star roles like Columbo, Madlock, Highway to Heaven, Phil Silvers Show. And he is a grammy award winning artist as well, with three albums to his credit.

Yes! He has done so much with his career. There was another segment at the honors that talked more about his career and everything he did, but it was immediately blocked when I tried to include it in the video. I don’t know why either.

Dick is a very humble man. He's had Ups & DoWnS like most of us only in the public eye. I see he uses a cane "as do I now" I'm 1/2 his age. The original song was Knee's up Mother, but was changed to "Step in Time" for Mary Poppin's. Walt Disney actually participated in the dance and became "winded" LOL! Understandably so. Walt was in his 60's + a chain smoker. Dick was much younger! He & Julie Andrews talked of the exhausting routines & FX used in that extraordinary Academy Award winning film. Well done & well deserved Dick!
