This is an absolute beautiful building! The architecture, the statues, the church, the stain glass windows... I am perplexed as to why some rich person didn't renovate it and make a high end hotel or something !?! Very very sad ending Adam! I really enjoyed this journey with you and your partner. It's criminal I feel to allow historic beautiful old homes like this fall into disrepair! & be abandoned in this manner.

Nice building etc, what saddens me is the fact that, like most of the 'big houses' from that era, it was built on the bondage, blood and suffering of innocent people.
Isn't that so true of life? Most anything of grand scale was built on the backs of the poor souls that toiled under very oppressive, life-sucking working conditions: Newport RI, every southern plantation house that still stands, the west... to name a few vast areas of injustice.
@@victoriagambardella7136 it is an absolute beauty! But, it makes my heart sick to know how and by whom this place was built!! Innocent people being used and abused to put this place up! Maybe this place could be left to the ones who actually built it....or at least to their descendants... Nice pigeon! 🙂 The innocent people didn't just build this massive mansion, they probably ran it too!😢😟 The serpent at the bottom of the statue probably depicts Satan who would speak through that snake to decieve Eve into taking the fruit of the tree out of disobedience to Jehovah. Satan convinced Eve that by eating it she would be like God and that she would not die as God said. The results of this disobedience proved that Eve would die and that she and Adam would pass sin and death onto their offspring which includes us in our day! Genesis chapter 3. Romans 5:12

Floor to ceiling curtains and window shutters should help to keep the heat in.

Planning permission for 20 flats with en suite would suite this property. Shame to just let it decay.

And finally. The building became the administrative headquarters of the Brothers of Charity in the early 20th century, operating as St Aidan's Care Home and remains in their ownership. The building is currently unoccupied since 2009.

What a beautiful Building, you can imagine a lot of Laughter. Victorian lady's sitting around that great fireplace. A Gentleman playing on the ivory keyboard. Then the men retire to the smoking room. Talking daily Politics. Or playing cards.. Drinking the latest Gin.
Plus the silent Maid. Having a natter down stairs. Plus the servant's getting ready for the great hunt, the following day. I bet their is a stable. But beautiful find. Thankyou👌🤔🤔👏🐎🌲🦋🦉📸☎️💯💜

This was absolutely fantastic. I’m very impressed with how wonderful you two are so respectful of the place. If I ever came into money, I would sure try to move into a place like this. I would offer rooms out free to explorers and history/architecture lovers in exchange for them performing a bit of diy. Simple things like paint and cleaning. I would be respectful of the building and remove some modern features to return it to its former glory. Hubby is an anthropologist and daughter an architect with another a wood worker. I can clean, tile,drywall etc. but as a 62 year old gal, it’s not going to happen. But a girls got to dream always. ❤️
It’s so crazy that the building hasn’t been snapped up by anyone wanting to get on one of those ubiquitous estate renovation tv shows. Did it feel haunted at all? I’m very curious about the original owner and their history. It really strikes me as something astonishing in a profoundly terrible way that so many many lives were devastated by the slave labour involved in the original owners drive to leave his son this legacy that the resulting barrenness of it/them all is sobering.
Meticulously crafted. Everything was handcrafted back then. As you said, Houses aren't well-constructed like they were centuries ago. I'm in awe! Love it! Blessings to you both, Adam and Lisa.
What beautiful woodwork I love that. It's really nice that no one has trashed this place yet, especially the stunning stained glass. The arched hallways are something you don't see much anymore either. This is a great explore. I wish that someone would restore it and show it the love it deserves. Hi Lisa! Nice to see you again.

First room looks like a medical room .Light fittings nearly always get screwed to the joists to take the weight
Looks like they painted over large portions of the woodwork.
Aww I love Lisa to bits, she gets so excited at things she's looking at. What a beautiful mansion and the church is amazing. The pictures around the walls are the stations of the cross. I've watched a Scottish explorer in the past called Exploring with Alec. He's boring though coz he doesn't talk as he's going round just swishes the camera about. It breaks my heart that this gorgeous property is sooo very deteriorating 😞 The longer that it is vacant, the more decayed it will become 😞 As you said Adam, the price of this property plus now the restoration that is needed, would be prohibitive! It is sooo very sad to let this historical gem get away from us😞 Sooo many gorgeous treasures in this place, from the staircase to the stained glass, the stonework, to the irreplaceable statues, the architecture...all too beautiful to imagine 👍😍 Thank you Adam & lovely Lisa for sharing this magnificent property 🙏 I loved it ❤️❤️

It be amazing to see this place go from the state it's in right now in a reverse mode in slow motion to what it once was when it was first built, to after being renovated, imagine how cool that would be to watch. OMG the chapel is beautiful….the spindles on the stairway were cool….so sad to see the decay of the abandonment.. this is a sad sad abandonment…. The stain glass sb preserved.. to have a church a part of the home is really something.. thank you for the great experience..

Seeing as how it was built with ill gotten gains it would be lovely to restore it for a charitable purpose to help balance out the past, if that's possible. Great find!

This place is huge...you could get lost !! When was it built ??
Looks like this could still be saved if purchased now and done over? I know it would need someone to come in and research the structural ability to withstand, and the roof and furnaces etc to checked as well as electric and plumbing. But it again could be opened and not only be home, but a Beed and Breakddast or most anything anyone would want? But if it sits like this very many more years it will be too late and all ruined. The chapel is amazing!
Orphans or elderly people could benefit or having people just touring through the area and stay in a lovely Castle with historical value.
''Grants''' could be sought to fix it up because of the history perhaps?. Money from all sources should be sought. Also placed on your tube as it is being fixed with an invitation for patrons to take part in such renovations and getting excited over the cause.

Pay close attention. If there are spirits they're there during daylight hours too. More active at nite but there is there. You will still get activity in daylight hours as well..
I think this is hotel that is so beautiful esp. The bathroom looks like very new

They have added and remodeled so much. You know the floors under the carpet were gorgeous when it was built. Ir makes me wonder how this building looked so many years ago. No one can afford to put it back to its glory days. All this beautiful wood will rot and go to waste.
